Hi Zamir.

The big concern here is of the NSFL can actually support 14 teams going forward. These massive classes are not the new norm and look more like massive outliers. S20 draft was 40 prospects, less than 3 per team in a 14 team league, and that's assuming all were active (they weren't). S19 was even less at 33 rookies, which is just only 2 players (again, not all active) per team. These numbers cannot sustain a 14 team league.

The absolute worst thing we can do here is over expand and have to retract in 5 seasons.

Adding three actives per team per season would actually require complete team turnover in about six seasons. Careers tend to last longer than that. So getting three new actives per season is itself on the high end leaning towards unsustainable. Plus of course not all IAs require replacement.

I could very well see the logic of expanding two and waiting a few seasons to expand two more but it does put that second group at a disadvantage and in the meantime the league is likely to be EXTREMELY crowded.

Not wanting to contract in five seasons is understandable. Not having anywhere for people to go is unthinkable.

Except it wouldn't be 3 actives, it's just 3 players. You'd be looking at 1-2 actives per team, per season. That is not enough.

I disagree with that assessment. If GM's are unable to keep teams together to the point that they need 2+ actives every single season, they shouldn't be GMs.

Obviously you need more occasionally and rebuilds happen but the entire league does not need 2+ new actives per team every single season. That turnover doesn't work realistically with my super generous cap of 20 actives per. And especially not with the more realistic number which is about 15 per team. We don't have a recruitment issue and haven't for about a year now. Especially not when the outliers actually make up 3 of out 8 drafts (counting the s22 of course).

Expanding to 12 now to be cautious very very very likely leads to highly overstuffed yes and lost actives because there's no room. Or an ad hoc additional expansion almost immediately afterwards where those team start from a weaker position.

Wait, does this mean EVERYONE will be drafted tonight, not just NSFL prospects, but DSFL too??

DSFl has its own draft following the NSFL one (on Thursday I think) and some of the NSFL draftees will be sent down for their 2nd year in the minors. With expansion, all of the team's picks will go for a 2nd year in the minors.

Thanks for the clarification.
