(S21) - PT1 - Reloaded - Number 82 - 03-09-2020

After posting a 2-12 record in season 20, the Portland Pythons drafted Tyler Oles Jr, Alexander Hamilton II and Zamir Kehla with their first three selections in the S21 DSFL Draft.

Having allowed the league’s worst points allowed (343), the Pythons early selections marked a concerted effort to build and solidly the their secondary. With Tyler, Alexander and Zamir, the Pythons will have defensive backs with both the athleticism and coverage skills to lockdown opposing receivers. Zamir has been tasked with the role as the defensive quarterback of the backfield, transitioning from corner to safety. One of the most talented defensive backs in this year’s draft, the Pythons have faith in his abilities and look to give him every opportunity to make plays this season.

In addition to the new faces in the secondary, Portland added Slinky Claxton (DE) and Lloyd Collins (LB) who will join the likes of Perry Tucker Jr, Jaune Arc, Gregor Macgregor, Logan Noble Jr and Jackmerius Tacktheritrix. When combined with their improved secondary, Portland defense on paper looks to be in better shape heading into season 21.

Some notable selections on offense for the Pythons include Daniel George (TE), Tatsu Nakamura (RB), Byron Dolls (OL) and Tommy Sacamano (OL). This is welcome news for George O’Donnell (QB) who will have two new weapons along with some much needed protection. The Pythons passing game looks to revolve around the returning Raheem Okusi and the rookie Daniel George. Meanwhile, Tatsu will join Pac McTaco in the backfield, two running backs with the speed to burn opposing defenses.

The Pythons are coming of rough season, that is no secret. A draft where they focused on addressing their needs in the secondary should put them in a better position. Season 21 is more about getting back on track. With the talent added on both sides of the ball via the draft, there is hope the Pythons will be more competitive this year.

Ah, a new season is upon us. The grass is cut, the field turf has been re-mulched with tiny pieces of spliced rubber. Spring is almost here, and the Baltimore Hawks are trying to fly high this season.

With 10 picks in this year's draft, the Hawks have filled current needs, added depth at their already talented positions, as well as made a few selections of players that will start in the NSFL but that they hope to help them in the near future.

In the first round, they selected Wide Receiver Chris Kross, an absolute beast at the position. After taking Kross as a needed offensive playmaker, they spent the next series of four selections shoring up the defense.

The Hawks are all-in this season and are really looking to contend for the championship again.
They left no stone unturned when addressing the issues at hand. They also have talent waiting in the wings ready to pounce on the opportunity. They will not be flying under the radar this season, and look to be putting a team together that will contend for years to come.

Not only do the Hawks have a solid set of players, they have a strong coaching staff, and a respected front office. This is not the "same old Hawks" anymore, this is Ultimus material.

The goal starts tonight and there is no stopping Baltimore.

In my first season for the NSFL/DSFL I was drafted by the Dallas Birddogs, our team had an enormous challenge this season. As an expansion team, the Birddogs have to build a brand new team. And through the draft General Manager Gucci and Co-Gm Inverted built a great foundation for the team. They picked extremely well with all available draft picks. According to the stats , they drafted the highest amount of active S22 rookies. Which should help them with long-term success. With that, the offense is anchored by the number one pick, quarterback Monteray Jack. His notable weapons include: the talented wide-receivers, Mike Lee and William Lim, the big tight-ends of Jeffery Phillips. The passing game is formidable but it gets better with a pair of great running backs White Goodman and Kichwa Jones. The offense is build to be explosive and will be challenged by the other non-expansion DSFL teams.
Opposite side of the ball, the defense has it's own General Stanislaw Konievpolsk, who was arguably the best linebacker of the S22 class. He is surround by great talented active individuals which include: Deshund Jones, James Cho, Big Edd, Haha Mango-Panda, and Danielle Hunter. Who all posses great speed. The defense has a lot of work ahead of the season, they are touted as one of the weaker units by the media. The non-expansion teams have established offenses which will pose a challenge and they will have to put forth the effort to stop them. As if right now, the team as a whole is super active. The preseason rankings has them second to last. This can be overcome with Gucci and Inverted's leadership. The inaugural season for the Birddogs will be an interesting one for sure and overall I'm looking forward to this season.

For the front office of the New Orleans Second Line, this season was all about building for the future. The team's wide receiver corps is made up of players who are starting to reach the end of their careers and players whose careers are only beginning. In fact, the Second Line's roster page currently lists only two wide receivers, Bona'beri Jones (the team's oldest player) and Jed Podolak, who is one of the team's youngest players. While New Orleans didn't take any wide receivers in this draft, they did draft two running backs, Ed Barker and Tequila Sunrise. With Forrest Gump and Marcella Toriki already lining in the backfield for New Orleans, it seems clear that someone (or multiple someones) will be switching to a new position.

The Second Line defense is remarkably solid, with one clear exception: the ghost of Johnny Slothface, which will dissipate into the aether after S21. To make up for the eventual loss of one of their two star linebackers, the Second Line drafted young Ugarth the Dissector. The talented linebacker will be spending another season with the Luchadores of the DSFL, with the goal of starting at linebacker when S22 begins.

The team also drafted some players that will immediately contribute to a title run. Dorfus Jimbo Jr., the team's first pick in the S21 draft, will strengthen an already formidable defensive line, playing alongside standouts like Bjorn Ironside and Ben Tu'inukuafe. Tight end Rainer Wolfcastle will be a large boost to the offense, specifically to Stan Francisco: Wolfcastle will be both another target for passing attempts and an additional blocker to help the offensive line shut down blitzes.

Overall, this was an excellent draft for New Orleans: they got several players that immediately improve the team's chances of winning the Ultimus, and they landed several others that will help the team remain competitive for seasons to come.

This is a weird one to write for the Dallas Birddogs since the team was just formed this season so literally everyone is a fresh face. I do think that Dallas did really well in the dsfl entry draft by selecting 4 of the top 6 TPE earners in the draft class. There are still worries that they weren't able to pick up any offensive linemen and that they might struggle to protect their QB from sacks because of the lack of linemen and the fact that both their primary tight ends are vertical threats, more focused on catching the ball than protecting the ball carrier. That being said I think the team is built to have a very strong offense when they can get the ball out of the QBs hands and into that of the running back, wide receivers, or tight ends hands. I suspect most teams won't expect much of the Birddogs here in S21, but I think they can surprise people with offensive talent and they should be fairly capable defensively as well. It's not clear if Dallas has what it takes to make the playoffs this season, but Gucci and Inverted should be proud of what they've built here in Dallas so far.

Myrtle Beach reloaded big time this offseason. Not to blow my own trumpet, but getting back a maxed out CB for an entire season is going to be huge for our defense. Also, we're getting back Dax Frost at RB who is also maxed out. For other players coming back we have Larry Longshot and Trevor Mouseman on defense, both posting 220+ TPE. Then we have Alyx Sabor and Simon Tremblay coming back at 220+ on offense. On top of getting a really good rookie class, our retooling has been getting back a lot of vets to keep the team on track.

For big players on offense, we have Troen Egghands posting a monstrous 154 TPE already. That is literally how much TPE I had when I was drafted, and I went 17 overall. Johnny Hellzapoppin was our top pick, and he already has been added to the stream team for the NSFL. Octavio Clement, Heath Evans, Jonathan Altidor, Brandon Booker, and Bruce Buckley are all at 120 TPE+ going into the first games on Tuesday. If we can get even half the activity we had last season, we should be able to get back to the Ultimini, and change the outcome this time around.

(S21) - PT1 - Reloaded - DynamicDoug - 03-09-2020

Following on from last years Ultimini dissapointment, Myrtle Beach has been going about things in the right way, despite losing key pieces to the NSFL, they have made a concerted effort to replace those they have lost while consolidating the already strong running game here in the beach.

Johnny Hellzapoppin was drafted to replace Vegeta and Octavia Clemente to replace Rapid Eagle are perhaps the most notable, however, Troen Egghands has been a monster earner and should be a constant threat for all DSFL teams screaming off the edge.

Bruce Buckley should help solidify the already very strong offensive line, next to Trembley, Quail, Green and Minor they should be a unit to be reckoned with.

A new secondary of Booker, Altidor, Martinez and Hellzapoppin should do a great job of limiting the passing attacks of the other DSFL teams, and with a DB core filled with ball hawks like these there is a great chance of the Myrtle Beach offence getting a few short fields over the course of the season.

All in all, the general managers in Myrtle beach have done an incredible job of setting their team up for continued success in the DSFL. On paper, everything looks excellent, but only time will tell whether they can get it done on the field or not.

After a season which could be considered successful, but ultimately lacking the crowning achievement - the Buccaneers primarily looked to recreate an elite defense that helped lead the way to playing in the Ultimini.

Safety was a clear need after Prince Vegeta moved to the NSFL. Johnny Hellzapoppin was picked up as he stands out as a prospect who already has a league job and the centre fielder out of Notre Dame is arguably the best safety in the class.

With defensive players leaving the board in a hurry, Myrtle Beach pick up Troen Egghands, a strong edge presence from the speed rusher out of Fresno State to help anchor the defensive line opposite Larry Longshot.

Adding Octavio Clemente also brings another big boy in the trenches for the Buccaneers, we pick up an inside rusher from Florida to create an intimidating pass rushing defensive line to create pressure on the quarterback.

Brandon Booker is a pick to fill the spot of HeHateMe PickSix moving to the NSFL, with another player that has secured themselves a league job. Booker has big shoes to fill but the all around corner back from Arizona State is already making strides to be the best CB he can be.

With Leon McDavid moving up the Buccaneers needed a replacement, with two of the three top TE prospects off the board they took no chances waiting another round and get their first offensive player in the fifth round from UCLA. Evans is expected to fill the starting TE role for Myrtle Beach and has been seen training vigorously.

Mark Radson, the speed rushing linebacker put Myrtle Beach at the top of his teams opinion list and it appears the Buccaneers wanted him too. This pick from Alabama gives a second linebacker to pair with Trevor Mouseman to create more pressure.

Jimmy Cooks is the second safety to head to South Carolina in this draft and will be a solid pairing with Hellzapoppin as the Buccaneers look to recreate their no fly zone from the past season.

Many of the Buccaneers later draft picks continued to add to the iron fleet defense, and the powerhouse offense which should lead to continued success in S21.

The Dallas Birddogs had quite a tall task ahead of them – building an entire team from the ground up only utilizing draft picks. Fortunately, I believe that Co-GMs Gucci and Inverted were able to assemble a competitive squad and were able to draft extremely efficiently. With the first overall pick in the DSFL draft, the Birddogs selected QB Monterey Jack who we are hoping can carry the load and be the leader this team needs. I think that the offense will be humming with a plethora of talent at RB, TE, and WR, however OL might be a cause for concern as none were drafted. The team is banking on the hope that the Bot OL will be sufficient to jumpstart the high caliber offense and will not be too large of a liability. Players like White Goodman, William Lim, and Jeffrey Phillips (high draft picks) are the focal point of the offense. On the other side of the ball, the Birddogs were also able to acquire a good amount of talent. With the likes of Deshund Jones and Stanislaw Konievpolski being higher draft picks and supported by some other high end talent, the Birddogs hope that defense will be able to stop opponents just enough to pull out victories. However, one concern is that the Birddogs lack depth in the passing game which teams may try to exploit via the passing game – but Gucci and Inverted are well-versed in gameplanning enough to compensate for most weaknesses. Another issue may be the lack of second year DSFL talent on the team considering its status as an expansion team. Many teams will be able to return high TPE players who were drafted into the NSFL. Overall, I think the Dallas Birddogs have an uphill battle ahead of them this season – but the team is already showing great comradery which can hopefully propel them for a chance of winning the Ultimini.

PT1 – Reloaded (248 Words)

The Kansas City Coyotes were a surprise in the league last season, going from a team of bots to making the playoffs is always a sign of things being done right, but unfortunately the team came up short. Steps have been made through the draft so that Kansas City can become the next great powerhouse in the DSFL. Beginning on the offensive side of the ball, Kansas City had to address the wide receiver position as both Chris Kross and Red Arrow were drafted and made the jump to the NSFL, and they fixed this issue by adding in two stud receivers with the draft class: Eddie Jeeta and Michael Whiteblock. Both have been activity monsters in the clubhouse for the team and have taken great strides in their training to become reliable options on the offense. On the defensive side of the ball, the issue was on the defensive line, outside of Chip Otle the defensive line struggled to contain the run and that burned Kansas City multiple times. Kansas City got what I consider to be the best player in the draft in Phat Boi at #5 overall for that run stopping presence inside, and another steal in the draft with Ismael Sanchez at #61 to pair alongside Chip Otle, making the defensive line one of the best, if not the best, in the league. With all these draft moves, Kansas City features to become a serious threat in the DSFL and championship contenders.
