(S21) - PT3 - Quarantine - juicychase - 03-23-2020 It would be really unfortunate for Simeon Works, along with the London Royals, to have their inaugural season suspended due to Coronavirus. Simeon has been training hard all offseason to get his body in shape and his mind sharp. The Royals have been practicing hard and trying to prove themselves in their first season in the DSFL. If the season were to be suspended, Simeon would continue to work out with his world class trainer, Duke Modern, to help improve his fundamentals. Film study would be another important part of staying sharp during the suspension. Having virtual team meetings daily to make sure everyone is on the same page would be crucial to not have any lull when the season starts back up. Although having a lost season would be a major confidence blow, I don’t think the Royals realistically have a shot at the title this year so taking a little time to gain experience and sign some key players may help us compete for a DSFL title in Season 22. Although we are a young team, the Royals have a tight knit group of players. We have really great leadership and coaching and our work ethic is second to none. I really hope the season doesn’t get suspended but if it does, the Royals will be ready to roll in Season 22. (S21) - PT3 - Quarantine - BRNXB0MBERS - 03-23-2020 If the National Simulation Football League suspends its season, it doesn’t matter what we do. We’re screwed. If the season gets suspended that means one of three things happened. 1. The virus can now be spread through computers. HO claims there is no human-computer transmission (source), but how long did it take the NFL to own up to the issue with concussions? I’m not saying they’re hiding anything, but we can’t be sure. If that’s the case, it’s only a matter of time until it can be spread through TV and telephones. At that point, we won’t be able to communicate or go anywhere without risk of exposure. The world as we know it is over, and the NSFL is the least of our concerns. 2. The global internet went down, so it’s literally impossible to run the league. 3. The virus mutated and now causes people to turn to zombies. This is your classic movie scenario. The Outlaws, true to their name, don’t waste any time overthrowing the local government/police. After raiding every Wal-Mart, grocery, and gun store, they set up a fortress in their practice facility. Since the simulated season is canceled, they decide to play some pick-up football. Unfortunately for them, injuries are not turned off in real life. As friendly rivalries turn to intense arguments, their newly formed society slowly falls apart, leaving only one man standing… Code: 231 words (S21) - PT3 - Quarantine - CalvinGolladay - 03-23-2020 Obviously losing an entire season to quarantine is less than ideal, but I feel that we'd be able to make things work. First priority would be working out alone in a home gym, getting that strength up. As a team we've got enough of a bond that it'll be a bit tougher having to move to some form of virtual locker room for the sake of social distancing, but we'll all be able to work through that. We have a good shot at contention this year and I think we'll be even better next year, so it'd be extremely disappointing missing out on that chance, especially given our limited time playing in the DSFL. Luckily the team and my fellow OL are great both on and off the field and we should be able to support each other throughout this potential quarantine, with all of us having things rough. Working through this would definitely have a focus on preparation for the next full season, because even in a lost season you can't stop improving, but with film sessions replaced with more time in the locker room. It's important that everyone's spirits be kept up in the absence of games. Even in such a bad situation I think the league and especially the team will be strong enough to pull through and hit the ground running for the next season. (S21) - PT3 - Quarantine - howsour - 03-23-2020 For me as a person, cancelling the NSFL or DSFL season would deprive me of one of the few forms of entertainment I currently have, so I would have to find several hours’ worth of something else (most certainly more productive) to do. For Kichwa Jones, a lost season wouldn’t be too big of an issue for him except for the fact he would not be able to play the sport he loves for a couple weeks. Since he was already paid by GM Gucci at the beginning of the year, money really wouldn’t be much of a factor either. I think the cancellation of the season would only matter if it didn’t count as a full season and thus, Kichwa would not be eligible for NSFL draft. If this were the case, I would also hope the previous season would not be factored into when regression begins. In order to pass the time, I’m sure certain members of the Dallas Birddogs organization would continue their work on multiple statistical analyses and would perhaps start up a new league: the NSNSFL; a simulation of the National Simulation Football League. This would allow us all to participate in the sport we love while also allowing us to maintain a safe social distance and not leave our houses to the terrifying world that lies outside. Could you imagine if all sports including the NSFL was closed because of covid-19? It would make me feel terrible because I’ve been training and putting in extra hours to succeed in this league. Of course the best way to prove how great I am is play in real live games to showcase my talent, and I couldn’t possibly do that if the league was suspended. On the off chance that the NSFL did suspend the league due to this outbreak I would understand since player health is the number one priority. It would be a bummer to all the stadium workers too since they too would be out of jobs if the league was suspended. Thankfully our team can still be social with each other by using discord like we typically do to chat with one another and keep each other motivated to workout. I would hope our facility would allow about 5 to 6 people at a time in the gym all in separate areas with certain time frames for each group to access the gym. This way we minimize contact and the gym could provide sanitizer to wipe down the equipment with. Going with the 5-6 group method we could potentially have live practices with smaller groups in different areas around that way none of us get rusty. Of course it will never be like the real games but for the time being it would have to do since we want to minimize the amount of contact with other people. (277 words) (S21) - PT3 - Quarantine - Forty Jordy - 03-23-2020 If the NSFL was cancelled, Deshun Jones would be very sad. The average career of players in the NSFL is short enough as it is and to lose a season would be a large percentage of a players’ career. The first few days, Jones would set goals for himself, eat right, exercise, and be relatively productive. However, within a week you would find Jones spending hours scrolling through endless memes on Reddit until one day he would stumble upon a “What to do during a Quarantine” subreddit. On this subreddit he found a post advertising a simulation baseball league and found the idea intriguing. Jones did some further research to find a simulation league for football, but he could not find one. So Jones got his team together to start a simulation football league, naming it the NFL. Jones would create a player named Chris Jones who wore his same number and would end up playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, a make believe team, which is part of the make believe simulation league. Thiath would go on to start a team in Brooklyn and iStegosaurus would start a league in Bavaria two teams they both wanted to create as expansion teams in the real world. (S21) - PT3 - Quarantine - Ephenssta - 03-23-2020 Warren Stephens would be heartbroken if the NSFL were to cancel their season. Running what is practically a minibar out of his locker after practices is reported to be one of his all time favorite activities and the way he best connects with his teammates. Losing this and being sent into isolation would be very hard to cope with. Warren’s love of rum would, of course, be unchanged. It is highly likely that he would be spending the time in isolation experimenting with rum cocktails to improve his craft. Losing out on the team practices from social distancing measures would likely require him to actually use the little weight room he built in his basement forever ago but never uses, since drinking without exercising off the calories would ruin his quickness and conditioning. Warren would also use the time to catch up on his favorite TV shows. While the team is traveling, he is frequently seen watching Scrubs or Brooklyn nine-nine. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to watch the most recent B99 season, so he would probably delve into that while sipping at some new concoction of rum and other sugary juices while the days in quarantine and isolation melt away. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that, though. 208 words (S21) - PT3 - Quarantine - jeffie43 - 03-23-2020 Claiming SHL Affiliation (S21) - PT3 - Quarantine - sakrosankt - 03-23-2020 So the NSFL shuts down too after all the other leagues? Doesn‘t matter for me, as I play in the DSFL. So nice try, but you won‘t get me, Covid. Ok, I assume DSFL will also be suspended. Damn, what should we do now? We should try social distancing and aren‘t allowed to spend time together, that‘ll be tough. I totally can see Tree Gelbman hiding in bed and spending the bit of time with having some cereal. That will cancel the plans to try and have some cereal too for the rest of us, as we aren‘t allowed to work together to make the coup happen. A few of us will try to conquer the world online, with playing a game of risk. But after Butters detroys half of the rookies and the GM again, starboy might take the chance and tries to get as more into anime. This will bring up a heated conversation which - in the end - leads to starboy discussing the current Madden career mode with Annastesia. The rest will drift off to how bright our future would have been this season, how the Yeet Squad would have destroyed half of the league and how toasty would have racked up like 20 TDs this season. But the defense wouldn‘t be forgotten and we phantasize of crazy run stuffing moments of Phat Boi with sacks left and right from Money and Chip Otle, leaving some of them also to Ismael. And of course nothing but praise on our captain Chester Sweets aka rehvolution, who is all over the field and catches some nice interceptions. And in the end, Lefty kicks it all in, while Matty won‘t have much to do, because punting won‘t happen often. If I think about it, nothing would be that different for us than it is now. |
