(S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - ZootTX - 06-29-2020 While most folks think of the US and Europe as places for an American Football expansion team, I think it is time we head West (or really far East) to Japan. Specifically, Tokyo. What better place to introduce the game than Japan’s largest city. While American-style football isn’t hugely popular or well-known in Japan, I think an expansion team would garner a lot of interest in contrast to the popular sports of baseball and soccer. The Tokyo metropolitan area is the world’s second-largest, and largest metro economy. Tokyo could easily support an expansion team, both financially and population wise. Tokyo would be a perfect place to build a base of passionate followers for the game of football. In homage to one of Japan’s most prominent contributions to pop culture, the team would be named the Tokyo Titans, with Godzilla as the team mascot. One can easily imagine the giant dinosaur stomping all over the team’s opponents, lasers shooting from its eyes. No puny Yeti or silly Otter could ever be a match for one of the most feared behemoths of all time, Godzilla! In conclusion, its time to bring football to the continent of Asia, and Tokyo is the perfect place to resurrect the Titan Godzilla! 206 words (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - retrospace111 - 06-29-2020 I've always wanted the NSFL to have more international teams. I think a main argument before is that it would damage the realistic feeling of the league, but let's be real. Your'e letting in animals and hexagons to play the game. The league is already super unrealistic. Having a team in another country, across the ocean, would be nice. Honolulu was a good step towards that. If I was in charge of an expansion team, (which i will never be) I would definitely put it in Tokyo. I love Japan, I love Tokyo and all the other cities there. I want to live there. I've been there before and I was supposed to go this year too but because of covid all my plans got cancelled. A Tokyo team would be amazing. It would be the Tokyo Wrestlers or Sumo wrestlers or something to do with sumo wrestling. Our mascot would be a big thicc sumo boy. I think it would perfectly fit with football. The colors would probably be red and white, because those are the colors of Japan's flag. I think a red and white uniform like the cardinals would work, but it would be cooler. It might look a bit like the Yeti, but who cares. (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - Jay_Doctor - 06-29-2020 If I were given the keys to a new franchise, I would most likely want to place them in my home state of Wisconsin. I’ve played around with different names and logos and there would be so many different directions that could be taken. The most recent thing that came to mind was the Madison Mean Mammoths. Right off the bat, I like the alliteration. It is by no means a requirement for a sports team, but there is something about alliteration in a name that makes it slightly more appeasing. For the logo, I would have a badass mammoth looking all menacing. I have zero creative ability to design said logo, but I have a really cool image in my head. The primary logo would be a mix between a head on and profile sot, sort of like at the front shoulder. As a secondary logo, I would play around with incorporating the MMM somewhere it it. The M does have a sort of mammoth look to it as well, so I could see there being a frontal view of a mammoth with the M worked in there as well. Color scheme is where I I’m not sure where to go. I would feel obligated to go with some sort of brown, maybe a really dark brown that borders on black. I think having a silver/gray as the secondary color could work well. (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - SchwarzNarr - 06-29-2020 When looking into expansion one thing must be taken into account: the mascot. You are looking for one of the most terrifying creatures known to man to represent your team. Therefore, it can be none other than the moose. Able to take out cars, makes most predators terrified of them, and absolutely adorable, the moose is the obvious choice when it comes to expansions. Now, understanding that the moose are the supreme choice, it is then important to know where they live. This includes the northern colder regions among the world, but the largest populations of moose (and largest moose) live in the Canadian and Alaskan regions, and consist of the Alaskan Moose. Knowing that the fiercest of this animal is the Alaskan Moose, it is therefore important to name the team thus: The Alaska Moose Now, you might think that Alaska is a strange place for football, but let me tell you, when you have players who are playing in eternal darkness with Polar Night and couple that with sleepless practices with Midnight Sun it makes for hardy stock. They are born in the dark and achieve victory - for in the future Alaskan Moose Stadium - there are no lights, and every game is a night game. You must scent out your enemy team and make tackles and touchdowns based on feel. The Luchadores success has built a sizeable following in Mexico, which can be leveraged to create an NSFL team in the largest market the country has to offer, Mexico City. All other sports may fall well short of soccer there, but the Mexican people are very proud and supportive of their local teams and would hopefully be quick to jump on the bandwagon of the new team in town. The gameday experience would be like no other, well except for Tijuana of course. The crowd noise would be unrivaled. In the stands you would see various team banners and flags being waved proudly as the crowd chants to encourage their team. As a player, it would be tough not to be amped playing in an environment like that. When choosing a mascot though, a few choices came to mind. The Inferno, to represent the unrelenting heat. The Diablos, another word with Latin origins, for the intimidation factor. Ultimately though, I felt the Aztecs would be the best fit for the team name due to their history. So, welcome your newest NSFL franchise, the Mexico City Aztecs! Code: 206 words (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - s4ndr0p - 06-29-2020 Okay, I am just gonna say it what most of us thought first, when they read the description of this Point Task: Why the heck do we not have teams in Los Angeles or New York, when we even have teams in Sarasota or Honolulu? Of course, it would hurt this article if I would pleed for teams in both of the cities, so I will focus this on the idea of creating a franchise in Los Angeles. The question now is, where do you even start naming all the great sights and cultural phenomenons in LA? There are so many things: Hollywood (as the center of TV Movies), Venice Beach, The Hollywood Bowl, all the stories the Mullholand Drive alone created, an insane amount of professional sports teams with the rams, the chargers, the clippers, L.A. Galaxy, the dodgers and so on... LA is a fair weather city with a lot of open, divers, people and a rich (cultural) history to build on. The Weather is warm and the majority of the residents spend a lot of time at the beach or in one of many stores, cafes etc. Now, what is my proposal? Let's go with a name that would represent the LA lifestyle, together with a brief history of LA history. I want to have a team that is called: "The Hollyweed Suns". Yeah, that's it. I can not see a franchise with this name win less than all the ultis. 244 words (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - Blasoon - 06-29-2020 Here are some mock uniforms for my dream expansion franchise, the Seattle Tigers. ![]() (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - Tylus - 06-29-2020 If I were to make a National Simulation Football team I would have to make it the Everglades Alligators. I think it being based in a region instead of a city could be an interesting concept, with the everglades being a fascinating location in itself. I chose this location as I am a Floridian, and I find the Everglades to be a very interesting and unused point of interest for building a new team. Florida has a long history of great football, college and at the professional level. I think adding another Florida team, especially with this location in mind would be a great choice for several reasons. First of all, I think being located in a swampland could add some grit to a potential team, not to mention some amazing meme potential! The reason I would call them the Alligators is based purely off of my favorite college team, the Florida Gators. I've been watching them my entire life, so this is somewhat of a tribute to them, mixed with homer-ism to my home state of Florida. I think a team based on this area of Florida and mascot would be an excellent addition to the league, as well as being fairly unique in location, and I would be very excited to have a team like this involved. (S23) - PT3 - Dream Team - Ephenssta - 06-29-2020 I did a couple summers of what is basically highly competitive marching band with a group called The Blue Stars who were based out of La Crosse, WI. The city was incredibly supportive of us and it was always refreshing to see the stands of their small stadium packed when we did our show for the community before the beginning of our competitive tour. Because of that personal connection, I’ve always thought I would place a franchise there if I were an expansion GM. The branding and logo is slightly more difficult, though, since Blue Stars doesn’t exactly make for an exciting football mascot. So my thought has shifted more towards what mascot or branding I could use that would allow me to incorporate aspects of the corps’ branding into the design. Perhaps something space related could work. Such as the Supernovas, Celestials, or perhaps even something exploration related with branding involving a space ship flying off into the stars would work. I could also really be quite lame and just use the blue star itself as the branding like the Cowboys do. But that just feels like I’m copying someone and I’d rather be at least a little bit original. That said, I don’t plan on applying for an expansion team anytime soon, so this is all still a hypothetical. Code: 221 words |
