(S2) - Weekend PT #4 - Drama! - Dangles13 - 08-05-2017 Let's talk about the media grading issue. People are waiting weeks to get their articles graded and are falling into debt because for some reason the graders wanted to wait until the article stopped generating discussion. Well us broke ass rookies need cash to buy equipment and we complained so they came up with this loopy idea of having a thread where we could ask them to do their jobs! Like what the hell is that? No you do your shit and give me my money. Thankfully the head office took notice of this issue and appointed a new head grader who started taking steps to improve the process. Instead of waiting for people to get bored of our shitty articles they will process the immediately and then leave it in the public eye for a week or so. I for one am very pleased with this new direction as it is more efficient and should see us fill our pockets with cash while still allowing for us peasants to chatter on about nothing. This is the kind of forward thinking that will make this league grow into a powerhouse. I am confident this new regime will even improve on this process in the future and we will have to find another minor annoyance to bitch about. (S2) - Weekend PT #4 - Drama! - Kronen - 08-05-2017 Drama. The Orange County Otters have experienced more than their fair share of drama in this opening sets of games. Heading into the season, stories were high. Winning three of four pre season games and being pre season favourites to win the ASFC set the internal expectations for the Otters at an incredibly high level. Agnus Winchester was jolly in his role of team enforcer, barking commands with a determined but friendly disposition. Dominic Verns was leading defensive huddles, setting cheers, and making jokes about how slow the opposition was in the pre season. Leroy Jenkins and Mike Boss were cracking jokes at each other's expenses with regularity, each one out trash talking the other. By week two, that had all changed. There was a sombre air to the post game talks. Each pre game routine was tense, focused, tight. Prep and game plans were no longer disseminated with confidence and authority. Agnus quickly developed a hard tone to his instruction. Dominic began with crass self talk, no longer leading defensive cheers. Leroy and Mike quickly circled the wagons and never let anyone trash talk the other. If the drama in the Orange County locker room is to change, it's going to have to start with some wins. (S2) - Weekend PT #4 - Drama! - Silver Fox - 08-05-2017 There’s one piece of drama no one has touched on yet, and that’s when Las Vegas traded picks to the original teams prior to the expansion draft for veteran players. Unfortunately, the only losers on those trades were the Legion and Liberty, as the two original teams involved were able to avoid losing any active players in the expansion draft. They then got to turn around and turn Vegas’s picks into new active players, basically avoiding the hit they’d have had to take if the expansion draft had functioned as intended. I can’t throw all the shade on the Outlaws and whatever the other original team was (can’t remember at the moment), as I’m sure had I been the GM there I’d have jumped on that deal as fast as I could, but here poor Liberty is, having lost out on 2 or 3 potentially active players. If it weren’t for the fact that we were able to trade Bojo Kicksit and Thor back to their teams for picks, our only currently active player to come out of the expansion draft is Vikian Marmeladov. Our only solace is that we managed to have a great S2 draft, while the Legion sat and watched until round 6 (though they did kill it from that point, lol). (S2) - Weekend PT #4 - Drama! - Molarpistols - 08-05-2017 The Orange County Otters Quarterback Controversy. As everybody knows, the Orange County Otters drafted three quarterbacks in the draft leading up to the inaugural season of the National Simulation Football League. They drafted these three quarterbacks, while having a fourth QB already on the roster, Anthony Petrakis. Taking one for the team, Anthony Petrakis agreed to swap positions to help out the thin defensive back corps of the Otters. Mike Boss, Josh Bercovici and Ethan Hunt were not so kind. Each QB was given a shot in the preseason to make a mark and prove they should be the leader of the Otters. None of the three QBs shined bright, and Mike Boss was eventually chosen as the starter for the regular season. Following a disastrous first game, the other QBs were given their shots at the helm. Neither QB really stuck out again, and Boss was awarded the starting job again. This left a sour taste in the mouths of Bercovici and Hunt. There were a lot of news articles, a lot of bickering and a lot of Boss being thrown under the bus. Ian Bavitz, the LB for the Otters was in the locker room, and he is adamant that there wasn't ever a huge amount of discord or angst in the locker room. Berc and Hunt played their character roles up to the media, but were generally decent, perhaps pleasant in the locker room. Fast forward a little bit, Ethan Hunt was traded to the San Jose Sabercats, while Bercovici rode the bench for the rest of the season. He has since moved on to greener pastures with the Las Vegas Legion, and the controversy has been left in the rear-view. The media over-hyped the situation, there wasn't actually any bad-blood in the Otter's locker-room. Everybody understands it's a business and they've moved on. Part of Bavitz still wishes for some of the controversy and excitement back. The Otter's locker-room has grown awfully quiet. Code: 331 (S2) - Weekend PT #4 - Drama! - 4D Chess - 08-05-2017 One day when I'm old and gray, sitting in front of the fireplace in my cabin on the lake, my grandkids will ask me "Papaw, where were you when Dave shut down Muford's Paint Sig Shop?" And I'll be able to answer that I was right there fighting on the front lines. I witnessed the truth, I watched them crucify Muford like they did Christ. The story you've seen on the forums... how can I put this... it may not have been the full story. You see, Dave is a good man. But he simply cracked under the pressure of seeing art as visceral and devastatingly unique as Muford's paint sigs. Can I blame him? Not entirely, even I'll admit that Muford's sheer talent and potential in MS Paint made me green with envy. How can one man have such skill? Dave suspected witchcraft. And Dave, know for his fear of witchcraft, vowed to rid the site of the possessed paintings. Sig of the week? Graphics bonuses? That's right folks, it was all one big cover-up. They were afraid of what Muford's art could do, it was too revolutionary, too cutting edge. And so they struck him down. Now, for better or worse, the world goes on spinning without Muford's paint sigs. Let’s see – which one to choose from? There has been so many dust-ups. Among them: - Commissioner Josh Garden being accused of tapping into GM’s war rooms in order to steal picks for the mock draft so he could gain more TPE then his loyal subjects. - Graphic grading head goes on a tirade accusing members of “fucking snivelling”, then promptly rage-quits his post. New graphic head puts together a good system only to revert back to the old shitty system for no apparent reason, then reverts back AGAIN to the system he initially designed. Fuck sakes. - Otters accused of tampering, which they admit, then don’t admit, then take super-personally – all for a player who isn’t even active anymore. - New expansion teams fight over trades as Liberty GM has absolutely no understanding of the terms “collusion” and “opportunity cost”. He continues to make an ass of himself, leading many people to speak out against him, including his former GM. - Then there was whatever the hell that was with kckolbe apologizing to someone, then promptly taking back that apology and attack him. Not super sure what that was about – seemed dumb though. My perspective? You all suck. 209 words (S2) - Weekend PT #4 - Drama! - TimPest - 08-05-2017 One drama that not talked about now that season 2 is started is the expansion draft. After season 1 was a big success for the nsfl the league said they needed to make space for so many new players and grow the league. To make this a thing the league decided to do a expansion for all teams. As part of the expansion the teams that were new got to draft at the start of the draft and do a draft from each of the older teams to get 4 players. This created so much drama on lots of things. The first drama was good players leaving there old teams and not giving any reward back to the old teams. This was the worst for the wraiths and the outlaws who lost two good players who would be saved by regular teams in the regular draft. Analysis – the drama was fair. Then we had drama from teams saying that they were hurt worse then the other teams. The biggest people behind on this drama was shaka of the otters. Drama analysis –cry cry. Then the last drama came by the expansion teams. One team traded for there players and the other expansion team was very mad because they said they weren’t able to get better people in the draft but then they also traded. Analysis- kinda fair. (S2) - Weekend PT #4 - Drama! - WinstonKodogo - 08-05-2017 With the commissioner of the league having announced the creation of a development league to the National Simulation Football League not too long ago and started with the hiring of six general managers to coach the teams in this league. Kevin Cushing announced his co manager Bjork Bjornsson and the location of the team in Austin. All was well with this and the league waited with baited breath to announce the name of the team. Cushing stepped up to the pedestal. "I would like to announce the name of the Austin team. I present to you The Austin Hippie Hicks!" He stepped back himself and his co -gm looking extremely proud of themselves as the crowd looked on in bemusement. What the hell kind of name is Hippie Hicks? Commissioner Josh Garden stepped in front of the two men and stated "That was very funny guys, however we are not entering a team into our brand new league under the name the Hippie Hicks. That's not going to happen. Ladies and gentleman, you are about to see the worlds quickest re branding of a team." The commissioner had promised complete creative control over their teams and to stifle creativity even if it was a stupid name, the commissioner should not be as quick to veto and u-turn on his promises in future. (S2) - Weekend PT #4 - Drama! - ErMurazor - 08-05-2017 I am going to go with some little known drama and flash forward to the season 1 preseason. We were all rookies in the Outlaws locker room but some of the guys knew each other better than others. Jayce Tuck was a brand new guy with no prior interactions with people besides at the combine and leading up to the draft. Almost immediately upon checking out the forums, exciting to meet my new teammates, I see there is an old beef reopening between Mayran Jackson one of our top picks, and the Co-GM Bushito (I don’t even remember his player name and I don’t care to look it up). From what I gather Mayran Jackson expressed he did not want to be on a team partially run by Bushito and he’s not the happiest about being in Arizona. My first train of thought is, “Oh shit, one of our top players is going to quit right away.” I’ll admit I kept a skeptical eye on Mayran Jackson for the first few weeks of the season wondering when it was going to come back and bite our team in the ass. Instead, Mayran Jackson continued to work in the locker room at a thankless position, keeping up with the best TPE earners in the league. Jackson would work to be a positive force in the Arizona locker room, talking and helping noobs, offering advice, standing up for teammates and the GM when others lashed out, and more. Mayran has switched positions to help the team. He reached out to a sim noob like me on one of my first days on the team. He is an active member in our discord. He’s been a critical piece in the Outlaws dominance and locker room and I’m happy to be on his team. In comparison, Bushito is nowhere to be seen and has been shipped off in a trade. In this bit of drama, I judged too quickly and was on the wrong side. Fortunately, we have a patient member in Mayran, who was able to bear with me and my newer sim teammates to build something awesome. |
