RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - OrbitingDeath - 02-01-2021 Season 27 is the debut season of my player in the ISFL, and just my luck, it comes with a sim change. As running backs were already doing great in the old sim, I was excited for my rookie season, but it changed with my sim change. Lower tpe running backs dont perform like they used to do and with the tpe changes for 96 to 100, i felt I was better off going with a different archtype for now. So instead of the 100 speed I already had saved up for, I now max out at 95. But the results are still not as good as I hoped to be. While I had two touchdowns in the four preseason games, I currently dont have any yet, so hope tonights sim changes that. My first game I had 11 touches for 48 yards total, so an average run of around 4.4 yards. But only had 1 reception for 8 yards, while our non receiving RB had 68 yards receptions. So I felt lost on the field in my actual debut. The second game we won atleast and then I already had more receiving yards, but still slightly less touches. But the important part was that we won the game and are now 1-1. Since both games were away games, I believe its not bad as a result. But we now get the Otters at home, a strong team especially since Phillips debuts as RB now. So they are stronger then the two games before. RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - Void_DCXI - 02-01-2021 The games that have been played so far are much more easier to watch than in years past in my opinion. It used to go by so quick that you could barely tell what was happening, but now they’ve toned it down and made a far more digestible viewing experience. The games have been great so far, with a fair amount of good offense and defense. Power backs are no longer liabilities, but speed is still king. The worst thing about the sims so far in my opinion, is that the stats for each player and team now fade in and out in the corners as opposed to staying on the screen the whole time like previously. Overall, the games are easier to watch, and more balanced while still retaining the same level of excitement that makes ISFL games a treat. As for how my season is going, I’d say pretty well. As a member of the DSFL’s Bondi Beach Buccaneers, expectations were high coming into the season after winning the Ultimini, but we remain undefeated as of now, though we’ve only played one game. In that one game, I rushed for 38 yards on 7 carries, making the most of my limited playing time, and getting a few first downs to help the Bucs win against the Minnesota Gray Ducks. RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - Raven - 02-01-2021 Quote:Written option: Season 27 is off to a busy start with the new sim. Write 200 words about your first impressions of the games you've seen so far in the new sim. How's your player/team doing? Are you enjoying the streams? Do you have a favorite home field design? I think the big one is how RBs seem to be either extremely great or extremely inconsistant. Now I say this with a slide eye towards what we saw in general in the preseason and now what we are seeing in the regular season after the RB changes have gone through. What I mean by inconsistant is that it seems RBs on average run less yards per average. However on the other side of that coin we just had a a few of the biggest RB showings in league history. We saw baby Yoda blow up the league with 280 yards a record. The previous record being 221, which wasnt even a record but a cheating 79 speed qb. So it's mental that that record has been shattered 2 weeks into a new sim. Then we look at the other side of the coin and we see Petrongolo, a rb vet at this point, who gets 21 yards on 12 attempts and has an average of 1.8 yards per carry. Compared to Yoda's 14! yard per average carry. It is still very early day ofcourse with only 2 sims played, so the averages should balance out a bit, but early on it gives the impression that RBs are gonna be struggling especially 2nd string rbs. RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - Crunk - 02-01-2021 Well, it has been a torrid start to the season for Arizona, but it wouldn't feel like an Outlaws season without harsh sim luck to open the campaign. To top it off, the sim team have been taking revenge on us for many seasons of beneficial sim scheduling by making us the last game shown. Sitting through 90 minutes of dot football to record a single score loss, twice, isn't the greatest first impression. I won't complain about game length, as I am sure some others will. A lot of users devote many hours to this league, I can't understand the mentality of moaning about an extra 7 or 8 minutes on a game. Being able to see the ball moving through the air on passes is revolutionary, and even the on-field bar for special teams plays and turnovers is an improvement on the previous walls of text, so there's a lot to like about the new sim. The fields are fun, and I haven't seen one ISFL field design yet that hurts my eyes, though there are a few sketchy ones on closer inspection. I'm super proud of the Arizona Outlaws offering, being simple and aesthetically pleasing in a classic style. The other one that has really stood out to me is the Yellowknife Wraiths. Gorgeous end zones, and the whole thing fits with the theme of the team perfectly. I'll finish with a PSA, without calling out any specific teams: Please do not make your logos semi-transparent when you put them on the field. It looks horrific. RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - treant - 02-01-2021 The games that I have had the chance to watch so far in the new sim have been a very interesting experience! I think that the main thing that I have noted is that it is going to be very different to what we saw in the previous sim. The games move slower but it is good to be able to see the way that the ball is moving. I think that it adds a lot of interest to the individual plays and seeing what is happening with it! I think that the length of the total stream might need to be something that is looked at because it can take a very long time to get through all of the games that are to be played. I hope that this is something that can be fixed but if it isn’t then the presentation is still great so it is not a problem that is too big I don’t think! The New York Silverbacks could not have had a better start to the season so far. We have won both of the games that we have played and I think that the new sim likes our team which is great! I hope that we can win some more games and have a great first season in the new sim! Total word count: 217 words! RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - WildfireMicro - 02-01-2021 My actual first impression of the sim is noticing how long the games are gonna take now which I have mixed feelings about. It is pretty cool that we can see where the passes are going, but I don’t like how we can't see the stats in game very well. The Royals got off to a pretty good start in this new season only losing to the Phythons in preseason so far and shutting out the Seawolves in a major blow out win. I think the new sim still has some tweaking to do with the running backs and some of the various turnovers but so far so good. My player Tsuyu Asui is doing decently in this new sim with only a preseason touchdown so far but we have a rookie quarterback so that's to be expected. I do like how we can be more creative with the home field designs and that has led to both good and bad looking fields. My favorite is obviously the Royals and I know how biased that is. Still it is simple and clean so that's why i like it. I think teams should just stick to green turf, but I understand if some of them want to go the Boise St route. RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - LB3737 - 02-01-2021 Season 27 has been a great season so far full of new beginnings for the International Simulation Football League. This season we got the new sim, DDSPF21, for the first time. Obviously their are some growing pains for the sim, including the preseason, where we did not get a stream when we thought we would. As well as this we, the streams are potentially a bit too long for some people, mainly due to an increased break between plays in this new sim, and counteracting that is the fact that some of the plays go by extremely quickly, making it a bit difficult to follow, especially on mobile. Of course these issues are all things that can be ironed out, thanks to the work of our great sim team. For Demon Jaxson personally, it’s been a weird start to the season to say the least, after week 1, according to the sim, Demon was leading the race for DPOTY, thanks mainly to the fact that he got his first ever career turnover followed by his second ever career turnover, both in the same game against the Yeti. However week 2 went a bit worse for Jaxson as he recorded no stats, and he will surely be looking to keep his form from week 1 going throughout the season, rather than that of week 2. RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - LewisMelville - 02-01-2021 What are my opinions of the new SIM and how it is impacting my viewing, my team and my player Jeeeeroy Lenkins? Well I will start off with the negatives before moving on to the positives. I will say that I feel the pros outweigh the cons. My only con thus far is that the overall viewing of the game week is too long and I no longer have time to watch each individual game as I use too, is this an overwhelming issue? No not really... The first pro is my player is playing much better in the new SIM I already have 2 more interceptions than last season and my team Berlin Fire Salamanders defence is looking pretty solid! I like the new graphics for each team's stadium and I like how much more in depth it is. Playing as a cornerback the old SIM was not the best for showcasing how great a cornerback actually was. I enjoy now being able to see if my player has been targeted on a throw and have a better understanding of how he is performing. So overall I am extremely happy with the new SIM with my only flaw being length of the viewing of each week, saying that it is to be expected with a much more in depth viewing of what is going on. Also worth noting the last SIM did Berlin dirty last year making us go 0-5 which we had a 0.5% chance of doing according to our analytics specialists. RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - IsaStarcrossed - 02-01-2021 I can't say that I really have any special first impressions of the the new sim. I've not watched any of the games so far because the first one was late and the second one was on Friday night when I was playing minecraft with my Yeti boys and we were all too busy to worry about our fake football sim. That said I've tested for more than 60 hours for the Yeti and for the most part from what I can tell, this sim isn't too different from our last. Yes it looks a bit prettier, yes it takes far longer to sim, but for the most part its the same experience. You have some infuriating bugs, you have moments of frustration with clock management, and it doesn't really seem to be better in any way other than offenses getting a massive buff. The viewing experience from what I understand has dramatically declined though. With no play by play on the screen that shows what happened on the last three or four plays it can be very hard to keep up with the sim. Especially since the in play text flies by quickly too. You stop to celebrate with your friends and suddenly you're multiple plays behind and have no idea what happened during that time. It makes it more difficult to enjoy. We'll see how it develops in the future though. Maybe some of it'll iron out, but for the most part it doesn't seem very changed. The new index is awesome though! RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - SchwarzNarr - 02-01-2021 I don't really watch the sims, so uh, I guess we'll go with part two: As far as how the Yeti are doing: about on par with where I expected. We had some decent losses at running back and our defense, but we also had some nice pickups with our new WR2 and an extra linebacker. Our team feels stronger than ever in terms of camaraderie and our locker room, and even though we had a loss in Week 1, it was an incredibly close game, and we’ve been able to course correct a bit for Week 2. I think we’ll continue to remain competitive, and that we’ll be able to look for a playoff spot this season, but I don’t think it’ll be the guarantee that it has felt in the past. We’re working hard, and have a lot of great players who are proving their worth right now. It’s been a bit disappointing to know we’ve had players on the field that haven’t really gotten any stats (I mean, truly, played the entire game and didn’t have a single tackle, stat, nothing. It was sad), but I also know that we’re working toward that right combination of getting our guys the numbers, while still making sure we put up the points and do the winning as much as possible. I think that the Yeti are going to be far better this season than last, and that we’re going to take the few struggles we had and really flip them around. |
