RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - nlj04 - 03-29-2021 Noah Johns was taken in the late 2nd round of the Draft. And honestly I was very surprised to be taken this early for being in a small school but the scout's like what they saw and heard from me I guess. Anyways when I got into Portland it was a great place off the bat, the team staff and players were willing to answer any questions I had about almost anything. I can already tell this is going to be the place to be for the future. And I did have a good chat with the Portland scout so that was a click off the bat which felt good. I kind of was edging to go to Portland since they were one of the only teams to actually reach out to me and chat with me. One or two other teams did but never got back to me. I believe the reason they drafted me was because I think some of their previous Running Backs had to go to the main league or the league above what I am at currently. So they were in need of Running Backs and I know that Running Backs have a big impact on the Portland team as far as I could tell. We will have to see what the future holds! RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - Opera_Phantom - 03-29-2021 Jay Cue Jr. just went through the draft experience recently, last Wednesday. Despite having a very strong family background to the Portland Pythons, due to his cousin Jay Cue being a hall of famer on the Oregon team, Cue Jr. told the scouts that even though he would be very proud to play for the team that saw his cousin rise to fame (although in different colors than the ones nowadays), he was also happy if some other team drafted him so that he could build his own legacy elsewhere. And this was exactly what happened, with Cue Jr. being drafted as number 1 overall in the DSFL draft to the east coast, to the Norfolk Seawolves. Cue Jr. felt like his skills were appreciated by everyone in the organization during the scouting process, so he is extremely honoured to become a part of the #1 overall pick club. But this means that the Seawolves had a less than stellar record last season, finishing with a 4 - 10 record and last place on the conference. The team is aching for a playoff presence again, and Cue Jr. wants to help them in that tasks. Lots of strong teams in the DSFL though, who are trying to avoid that. (208 words) RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - Crunk - 03-29-2021 I remember my player's ISFL draft very well. After having gamed the DSFL draft to ensure I would land in one of two locations, I decided I would do the draft experience properly, and I decided to leave the ISFL process to chance. I gave my best in scouting for 11 of the 12 teams who reached out, and left it up to the ISFL Gods. Despite this, I did have a decent feel for where might be interested in me. I was pretty sure I had done enough to be considered a first rounder, though not raising my profile anywhere near as much as some others, so the Outlaws' pick at 8 was where I mocked myself. The draft rolled around, and it was a super cool experience, really nicely presented and put togethers, just as my DSFL draft experience had been. After sliding a bit more than I had hoped in my DSFL draft, I was unsure whether the same would happen to me in this one, and when Arizona ended my nerves at that eighth pick I was elated. Looking back, I think that it is safe to say that the S25 class was absolutely stacked, and (despite the fact that I'm going into my third full season as GM of the Outlaws now) I'm not sure I go that high in a redraft. Either way, I will continue to seek my retribution on the 7 teams that passed on me. Forever. RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - SchwarzNarr - 03-29-2021 Draft day was probably one of the most anxiety inducing and exciting times for me. As I had talked to only a few teams (apparently not many needed a kicker, or even wanted to see if I was open to swapping), the team I had jived with the most was the Colorado Yeti. It wasn’t just scouting by one person, but in fact I had had numerous conversations over numerous days with the current GMs, the future GMs and other members of the team. I wanted nothing more than to move to Colorado and become a Yeti. They were the future family I was hoping for. As draft day neared, I started to grow more and more nervous. Had I done enough to make the Yeti want to pick me too? Did they feel the same? I wasn’t sure, but it seemed as though they were gearing up to get rid of me from the way they acted and talked in the chat. I didn’t know what to expect still, on draft day, and I’m not sure that I can really believe that it happened. I can remember watching the draft stream, looking at all of the first round picks, believing it would be awhile before my name was called. Then, there it was. Colorado Yeti, pick 9. Pings went off in the locker room, Syl and Infinite were sharing the pieces they loved about me on the draft stream, and that was it. There is no greater feeling than knowing that the team you loved the most, loved you too. I couldn’t be more thrilled to still be a part of the Yeti. Instead, I'll write about the S22 ISFL draft. For a bit of backstory, Fawn was drafted 69th overall to the Kansas City Coyotes in the S21 DSFL draft and greatly enjoyed the one season he got to play for the Coyotes. Leading up to the draft, Fawn had good communications with many of the GMs, but a few that stood out to him were Colorado and Yellowknife (both teams now happen to be rivals of his own). His top choice leading up to the draft was the Wraiths and he felt strongly that he had had a good experience with their scouting department and would be more than willing to play for them. On draft night, however, Fawn fell farther than he hoped he would. He became somewhat frustrated seeing linebackers with similar overall TPE values and DSFL production being picked before him. At one point, Fawn even got up to take a quick break from the draft but his attention was quickly diverted back to the stream once his phone started popping off. He returned hastily to find he had been picked by the Sarasota Sailfish! He never expected to end up there and was hesitant about how to feel at first especially since they were a brand new expansion team. However, he ended up loving the team and the city and currently still plays for Sarasota today! RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - snazzlepuss22 - 03-29-2021 I remember draft day very well, I had recently come off a decent debut season with the Minnesota Grey Ducks and was excited to see where I was going to end up. I found myself really wanting to go to an expansion team, particularily the New York SilverBacks because of my familiarity with Woelkers. The prospect of joining an expansion team was really exciting because it would give me an opportunity to achieve the rare pleasure of being the historic guy at a position, a legend type of player for an organization. I ended up going in round 4 at pick number 56, I actually was super excited about this because I thought there was no way I would be going before the fifth round. This is mostly due to I hadn't really figured out how to earn at this point and was in a relatively deep class of DE's. It was funny because I almost forgot it was draft night and I had remembered a little late and rushed to turn the TV on, my girlfriend chuckled at me and my silly fake football. But when I got picked the excitement was contagious because she actually seemed really excited for me as well, because I got to join the team that I wanted to be on, Which was the New York Silverbacks and the rest as they say, is history. RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - Alcott - 03-29-2021 The Season 28 ISFL Draft was my second draft experience, the first being the DFSL Draft last season. I was picked with the 11th pick in the second round, so 25th overall, by the Colorado Yeti. The draft position was in the general area that I thought I would be taken, maybe even a little earlier as the majority of responses I was getting from General Managers and scouts I talked to during the pre-draft process indicated I would be drafted between the late first and early third rounds. Now bump that back a round or two to line up with the reality of what happened in the DSFL draft versus what I was told during that pre-draft process and the ISFL draft position is actually closer to the top end of the prediction spectrum. There were a few teams I talked to that seemed more interested in me than others, especially with my current position and upcoming needs that aligned, and Colorado was definitely on that list. In fact the Yeti GM more or less said he'd take me in the second if I was available and he was definitely true to his word. The draft experience was pretty cool, the Dallas Locker Room was throwing out some mentions when I got drafted and the Colorado Locker Room was very welcoming before the draft presentation had even ended, so it was awesome to continue being in supportive Locker Rooms on awesome teams. RE: (S28) PT1 - Draft Day - ztarwarz - 03-29-2021 Oh boy, was this practically tailor made for me. I did not expect to go in the 4th round, even in a class as stacked as the S25 ISFL draft. I was willing to switch all over the place, after starting a bit late and making a couple mistakes on the first ultimus week tasks I was a max earner to the point of having about 230 TPE by the draft. Really, the position switch was the biggest thing, I thought I showed a ton of willingness to do what was necessary for the team. I thought I might have gone in the 2nd, and there was no way I was slipping past the 3rd. Then I did. I've made mention a couple times of this in articles, but I was really excited to go to OCO and then I got passed over by them late in the 3rd for what I viewed as a worse running back. I actually did not expect to Arizona in the slightest, because I was out of town at the time they specifically contacted me with very little internet connection, so I was extremely short and terse with the scouting process. Turns out, Saba being in the Portland Locker Room was enough to make up for that. That being said, I'm proud of how I've put myself out there, and I go into the season as the 15th highest TPE player from Season 25. Let's go, AZ! |
