RE: (S29) PT 1 - Training Camp - jzajenius36 - 05-24-2021 It’s been a busy offseason for your boy, Honky Tonk Haywood. The successful car dealership advertising campaign has lead to numerous other endorsement opportunities for Haywood in the greater Philadelphia area. Many meetings and phone calls have resulted. HTH also recently extended himself to a new charity, which promotes local talented, burgeoning child musicians. With Honky Tonk’s help, the charity has been able to obtain and donate thousands of musical equipment to local youth programs in Philadelphia. Further, although initially said in jest, while Haywood hinted that he wouldn’t quit until he had finally provided enough to field a decent local band that reminded him of the great soulful blues, country, and rock bands from back home in Nashville, Tennessee, the charidable foundation has several youth groups with just that vibe. Haywood hopes to help put together a battle of the bands in conjunction with the charity sometime next year. Nevertheless, despite the busy schedule, Haywood has been packing on the pounds, working on his technique, and trying to become more of an on-field leader. HTH is hoping that his new leadership role in the community, mixed with his hard work in the weight room, yields better results for him in the upcoming season as the Philly youth movement tries to culminate into a force in the standings. Captain Rogers was early as usual, as well as the new rookie call-ups Brandon Prince and Mongo, who are eager to make an impression. Sam Howitzer, Jackson Kingston, Jack Banks, and Hank Winchester all showed up on time as well. After a while Bob Roberts was the last to show up - it seems being named defensive team captain went to his head and made him think he could do whatever he wanted. Despite that, everyone was accounted for and were all ready to work hard. Right out of the gate you could tell that this Silverbacks squad is ready to give the league hell this season. Players were flying around the field, making plays, giving 100% effort during drills and conditioning, and stayed late for extra workouts. Everybody made sure to keep each other accountable for their mistakes and reinforced each other when they were doing well. Each player made the other one better, and by the end of it the team knew that they were going to be a force to be reckoned with. For too long, he had been constantly interfered with without getting calls. Now, he was going to take matters into his own hands. He was going to make it almost impossible for people to hold onto him while he ran routes. This came into marked importance as he finally surpassed Thomas Passmann on the depth chart to become WR2 on the Arizona Offense. As far as the training camp went for the team as a whole, Arizona called up a number of rookies; replacing the retired Quintuple J with Cade York, calling up Galf Wilf's heir apparent with Glenn Smart, and bringing Fergus Callahan Jr to fill out the defensive line. Arizona let go of some of its long time players this offseason, letting Saba Donut ride off into the sunset and into the Hall. The stars of the team, Tatsu Nakamura, Charlemagne Cortez, and Taro Raimon, reportedly built up their chemistry in the offseason by playing Madden together. Finally, Rich Triplet brought his lawyer along for the ride to training camp, reportedly to deal with some contract disputes. Reports of one of the lawyer's very large, very impressive, and very real hands falling off are unsubstantiated and have been sued by the Lawyer, Augustus von Heimlich, for libel. RE: (S29) PT 1 - Training Camp - Crunk - 05-24-2021 The Arizona Outlaws' training camp was a bittersweet affair. Without Arizona stalwart prankster Saba Donut putting on pads, the team was a little flat, but with the recent callups of Fergus Callaghan Jr and Glenn Smart from London, some youth and fresh energy was injected. Both seemed keen to absorb knowledge from veterans Galf Wilf and Plop Miller. There was a small amount of controversy when Rich Triplet's personal lawyer Augustus von Heimlich came to the camp to count the number of full contact snaps his client was taking - to ensure that ISFL Players' Union limits were not exceeded - but the ever resourceful career backup Gunner Thorbjornsson managed to distract him by hiring him to file some name changing papers. Gunner didn't really have anything in mind for this name change, so he came up with the first name he could think of. Triplet got plenty enough snaps to prepare him for the season, but Gunner is now called Deadly Memes. God help us. Legendary outlaws cornerback Desmond Scarlett, feeling the effects of father time, gracefully accepted his new role playing nickel - a role which allows him to berate linebacker L'Gazzy Burfict for blown coverages much more quickly. Overall, Arizona looked just as sharp as they had in the previous couple of seasons, and are looking forward to getting onto the field. This year for training camp, I thought I’d see if the Second Line were interested in trying something a little different; a little…spooky. Outside of Savannah, GA, there is a little island in the marshes called Oatland Island. There is an old hospital from the late 1800’s there that has been used for a lot of nasty stuff, but long story short it is ghost central, and for the right price, the owners will let you stay overnight on the island. What better way could there possibly be for the entire team to get their heart rate up for 12 hours straight?!? Due to the terms of my contract, I knew that D. Rector was legally obligated to accompany me whether he wanted to or not, but after I floated the idea around the locker room, I had quite a bit of interest; that new guy Jackson who won’t stop talking about Harry Potter or whatever, Ishereally Invisible who might himself be a ghost, even that polar bear Quentin wanted in (Even though he’s retired he still showers with us sometimes). Pretty much the whole team wanted to see what was up, so I made a reservation, packed up my sweet new ghost-hunting gear, and off we went. We arrived at the old hospital at sunset, and right away I knew we had made a mistake. Nekkid had almost gotten chomped by a gator on the boat ride over, and apparently Witten gets gassy when he’s scared. We made our way into the abandoned sanitarium and paired off to explore. Cut to myself, Mellot, and Barker cowering behind a rusty claw-foot tub while Toblerone (and I guess Invisible, but who knows) got swung around by some indescribable horror. I wish I could tell you more about the sickening geometry if its unknowable form, but like I said, it was indescribable. Luckily the ghost-hunting kit I got as part of my contract included the proton pack prop that Ernie Hudson wore in Ghostbusters 2. We were able to startle the incomprehensible thing long enough for Toblerone (and hopefully Invisible, but I’m not totally sure) to break away, and we all ran for it. After a brisk 12 mile swim through the alligator infested swamps, we made it back to the mainland unscathed except for significant bloodless due to mosquitoes. I don’t think I’ve ever had more fun. I already put a sign-up sheet up in the locker room to see if anybody wants to investigate the Overlook Hotel next time we play Colorado. RE: (S29) PT 1 - Training Camp - TakaMori152 - 05-24-2021 Before joining the ISFL, Kiara Tenoh had a lot of experience with job interviews. She’d been a flight attendant, an idol, and even personally ran a lot of the interviews for her KFP franchises. She also understands what exit interviews are, when you ask a departing employee what the employer can do better. This is fairly basic business stuff. So when Willie Miller approached Kiara upon entering the London Royals training camp asking for an interview, she was a bit confused. With job interviews and exit interviews, Kiara thought “Why wouldn’t there be such a thing as an entrance interview?” So she agreed as they went off to the side. Kiara tried her best to answer the questions carefully in order to give a good impression to her new bosses. She had assumed that Miller was a part of the leadership of the team since she had also spoken to him prior to the draft. This was a chance for her to convince those in charge of the team that she was worth their pick! But a creeping thought in her head came as she wondered why they would be asking her questions if they’d already drafted her. Finally, after being asked to “give a fun fact about herself,” Kiara realized that this wasn’t an interview for the team, this was an interview for the media! She’d already said what she’d said earlier in the interview, but she wishes that she’d said more so she could look better for her adoring fans.
