I also don't think we should take money from contracts that would go to real people to build fake bots.

says the guy with 30 sacks a season against inactive O-linemen.

He's not disagreeing with the entire idea. Only with certain solutions presented. And that's fine, this is about generating a discussion to find the right path.

It's about how the current number of linemen is untenable and we need to address that. If that means eliminating the position, so be it. I want this game to be good, and OL are making it worse.

Yea, I agree as well. I would stay as OL, but if WE (the ones with most to lose with this change) are saying it should happen, it's pretty clear.

We could even make this really simple. Remove the position, allow anyone who wants to remain Oline to remain Oline. Anyone else gets a free change to whatever with no 50% rule. Then every team gets 5 bots with (making stuff up here) 95 strength and 80-85 blocking and that's it.

I'm wasn't saying I was opposed to change. Every time this has come up I've supported it.

I just don't think those are the right solutions.

In one of the old leagues I was in back in the day, no one could play either line. I agree completely with the problems the league has faced in not being able to get active offensive linemen, and an idea that could be used to fix it is what the old league I was in did.

Every year, you can add x amount of TPE to your 5 Linemen, and you could use team budgets to buy "training" for the line to increase said stats. It isn't the best idea, or the worst idea, but its a basic starting idea.

Instead of starting them so low, like you do with human-made OL, you can boost their stats to start off at like 80 STR, or something like that, and have the team upgrade them.

This makes 6 out of 7. Would love an HO response please.

Here's my insane proposal (which curiously was approved by 2 OL players on discord)

Each season (or 2) we roll 45-50 OL players as AI.

Their PRIMARY (Strength, Run Block, Pass Block) Attributes are RANDOMLY rolled between 80-95.
Their SECONDARY (Endurance, Intelligence, Speed, Agility) are FIXED at 80.

Teams have a Snake Draft picking them to ensure Balance and that no one team gets screwed over by RNGesus.

Result: Each team has 5-6 OL that have been randomly generated (for variance) and range in ability. Furthermore we can have the GMs set a fixed role to each of their drafted AI (Center, Tackle, Guard) to their liking if that matters in the sim.

Do give me your thoughts & opinions on this.

EDIT: Numbers can always be tweaked. Especially for Secondary Stats.

With tweaking I think this idea really could work. Obviously speed and agility are too high, but this is a good idea.
