Not disagreeing with you. Just saying that OL costs and veteran contract minimums really aren't related.

Yeah....except they both come out of the same pot of money which makes them completely related. It may all work itself out 2-3 seasons after the majority of players exceed 600 TPE but in the meantime, watching the off-season is like watching some rap video. Just excessive cash all around.

That was the design and the intention. Allow GM's to use budget strategically.

The intention may have been good but it missed its mark. A budget strategy is not required as everyone bought all the best stuff and they still have money to spare. AZ had to spend $23M on 1 player to get within $4M of their salary cap. After buying bots, OCO paid someone $18M and still had cap space. It will eventually work itself out but that is probably S7 or S8 with the way things are going.

I guess my point is that we would have had the same $18m to offer Boss with or without the Oline changes. So I view these two things independently. If we didn't give teams enough cap space to sign the tier 2 bots (which may be the best for right now, but really are just the equivalent of an active second season player) then most players probably wouldn't have switched out of OL and we wouldn't have changed anything. Boss and Garden still would have been paid the same amount of money and sacks would still be running wild through porous lines.

If anything I'd say this offseason's changes has proven a resounding success given how much more parity the league appears to have now than the previous three seasons.

The head office has discussed this and we currently don't feel comfortable fixing a problem that will resolve itself. However this decision isn't something that is final and we still discuss this.

I personally don't think it's necessary and Ballerstorm didn't either (not that it matters since he stepped down from HO).
My concern is the extra headache a contract solution could cause. Budgeting for GMs currently isn't easy but if they had to re-evaluate their players every year depending on their TPE gains and if they hit a TPE threshold, then it would take a lot more time just to figure out their budget. On top of this, it would also then be pretty challenging to predict what their budget will be like in future years.
This would probably be more balanced than the current system where players are grabbing long term minimum contracts but again, I think it will resolve itself pretty soon and stay resolved.
