(S5) - Weekend PT #3 - New Year's Resolution - AdamS - 01-06-2018

Charlie Law's New Year's Resolution ended up that way more by circumstance than anything. He didn't really intend to make one because he only occasionally does. As it turned out though, the end of last year saw a lot of things change around Charlie. A lot of terrible things happened, people left, and situations shifted. He began to realize that when he spoke, more and more people listened. When his career began he'd been just a barely known name who shot his mouth off about proving people wrong. Two Pro Bowls later, he'd earned credit on those proclamations. People saw how hard he trained, prepared, and worked to be the best player he could. They saw his budding relationship with QB King Bronko turn into what more than one person called a Bromance. They saw the play in Season 4 where a wide open Law sprinted back behind the line and across the field because he saw a blindside rusher coming for Bronko. They saw him set records in blocking and be just as if not more excited for that than he was for the yards and touchdowns.

Law realized he'd become more than just a rookie with a dream and a chip on his shoulder. He'd become a focal point that players looked at and coaches pointed to. It wasn't exactly New Year's Eve, but in the final days of the year he took this realization and did what he usually does. He decided to step up. If people were going to look at him as a voice to be heard, then he would make sure he said things worth hearing. When asked about his resolution he just smiled and told people he was already doing it. He showed it in practice, taking extra steps to help the team all over the place. He spent extra time and care to work with the team's numerous young defenders on how to read the intent of receivers and ball carriers with body language tells. He stepped aside on offensive reps to let new offensive teammates get more time to develop a rapport with the rest of the crew. He even suggested plays to coaches based on his own notes against certain teams.

Typical Charlie Law..he starts to the work before even declaring it. Most people noticed something a little different though..a little atypical for him. before game 2 of the new season he openly threatened brief former teammate Lincoln Jefferson on social media. Law wasn't a trash talker in public, though defenders have strongly suggested it's different when the camera aren't on. This seemed to be part of this resolution to be a team leader. Time will tell how it pans out.

Quote:Written: Must Include 150 Words. It's now 2018 and with that coming it's time for some changes. What changes is your player going to try and make with the coming of the New Year. Could be any resolution, it just has to be something.

So Turkleton has made a new years resolution for the future. He will no longer have terrible extra point percentages. It hit him as it turned to the new year. He has been disapointing his fans, family, friends, team mates, staff, the owner, his wife, his kids, the persident of Canada, Avril Lavigne, Bob Ross, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Sammy the homeless man from down the block, postman Pete, Justin Tucker, all his waifus, Seth MacFarlane and many more with his inability to score extra points in crucial game moments.

Turkleton decided in that moment to change himself for the better, he has been practising scoring extra point non stop since the new years. Spending all his time at the training grounds kicking ball after ball after ball through the forks and it has shown so far this season. He has yet to miss an extra point (which I have now jinxed).

A chance Arbin Asipi Jr is going to make this year, is to have a better work ethic. There have been questions on how well he would do in the pro's, and how hard he would work. Some have said he was lazy during high school and college and that he would never be able to make it with how he was working. Jr heard this and decided he needed to make a change. He didn't want to be a bust, he wanted to be the best. And it has showed during the new year. He's been the first to practice, and the last to leave. He's always in the film room and he's always looking over his mistakes and trying to improve his play. He's been seen helping his teammates out, and doing his best to make sure everyone on the team is doing their best and working as hard as possible.

Having left school early to join the DSFL, it has been a period of many changes for Micycle McCormick. One of his key resolutions this new year, however, has to do with school. In order to train for the DSFL draft, Micycle "took a semester off" at Rutgers - now it is time to finish that degree!

Having balanced his double major of Astrophysics and Underwater Weaved Container Engineering with collegiate sports quite well at Rutgers (with a 3.8 GPA!), Micycle is confident he can finish out the last 12 credits with the workload and responsibilities of being a DSFL player. He has been reported saying that, while nervous about his debut season as a professional kicker, he is even more nervous about passing the notoriously difficult "Weaving at Extreme Depths" course.

Completing his degree and graduating from Rutgers would be a huge accomplishment for Micycle, and motivation from the new year is pushing him to do just that.

Carlito Crush isn’t usually a fan of New Year’s Resolutions. What I try to do is live my whole life how I “should” be doing it. I eat right, I work out constantly, and I really take care of my body. I also do my best to spend time with underprivileged children, in the hopes that I can make their lives just a little bit better by spending some time and throwing the football around with them. But one thing I’ve struggled with is not having enough patience. I work hard for my goals, and that’s led to me expecting immediate results with just about everything that I do. In Colorado, I’m going to have to work on my patience. I want to win every game I’m a part of, but the Yeti just aren’t there yet. I haven’t had to experience this before. I won at Ohio State, and we won a LOT in Portland last season. It’s what I expect. When things don’t go my way like that, I tend to react poorly. So I’m working on having more patience in the New Year, because I know that our short term issues will eventually lead to long term gains. It’s just going to be hard sometimes. (208)

Marc Spector has not made a New Year's Resolution in over a decade. He made the resolution to not make any resolutions well before that became a popular meme. But if one were to force his hand, he would likely spout something about getting more interceptions or something. Considering he led the league last season in Passes Defended, his game can only improve in other aspects of the profession. Off the field, Spector is reclusive and elusive about what it is exactly he does. So, to pinpoint what improvements he can make would be difficult. Only he can say for certain what he can improve upon, but he's not the sort to divulge that information about himself. Maybe it could be to develop his relationship with Marlene Alraune. Maybe he can be more open to the media about what it is he does on his personal time. Maybe he can listen to more diverse music. Or perhaps he can stop pranking newbies to the locker room. But chances aren't high he'll do any of those things.
