(S5) - PT 4 - Underrated - White Cornerback - 01-16-2018 Take a look at Gosh Jarden (formerly Ethan Hunt) of the Yellowknife Wraiths this season and you wont really be that impressed. He's 18th in receiving yards this year which doesn't look great at first glance, but take into account that he's the 2nd WR for YKW and he's their 3rd target on offense behind swiss army knife Eric Kennedy at RB and superstar Bailey Cook at WR. 466 receiving yards, 41 catches, and 2 touchdowns isn't bad for a man who doesn't get targeted that often from Akselsen at the QB helm. More often than not along their way to get to this 6-1 record at midseason, Kennedy is often doubled covered and Cook is targeted. When plan A doesn't go right, they decide to use a combo of Bubba Nuck at RB both rushing and receiving with the check downs to Gosh Jarden who... if you need a 3rd down he can get you just that. Safe hands and a relatively small ego ever since heading to the wintery landscape of Yellowknife in Canada, it truly looks like Gosh Jarden has changed his old ways and you can thank Yellowknife Wraiths front office for that. Everythings looking pretty nice for Gosh Jarden currently. (S5) - PT 4 - Underrated - Supersquare04 - 01-17-2018 I think that Carter Bush is an extremely underrated player. One of the 2 running backs on the San Antonio Marshals, he plays behind the highly touted Willy Nyquist. However is it possible that maybe Bush is the superior back in the San Antonio tandem? he not only averages more than his partner but he also has more yards despite less carries. Excluding bots he has the highest rushing yards in the league (on a side note both of the San Antonio backs have more yards than the rest of the league excluding bots). Willy Nyquist may be getting all the attention and glory for San Antonio's rushing attack. After all he is projected to go in the first round of the draft, but maybe it should be Carter Bush that is projected to go in the first round. To all NSFL gms make sure to keep Carter Bush high on your draft board. He certainly has plenty of talent and hard work to make it in the NSFL. Should he stay active we could be looking at the next Boss Tweed, and while running backs aren't necessarily the strongest positions in the NSFL, San Antonio has proven you can win with running backs. Words: 204 (S5) - PT 4 - Underrated - RedCydranth - 01-17-2018 A name that was big in the DSFL a couple seasons ago, and was unceremoniously drafted by the struggling Colorado Yeti is the young linebacker, Haruki Ishigawa. His first season in the NSFL was a disappointment when you look at how well he performed as a DSFL Prospect. Posting a mere 4 sacks and 3 PDs and 1 fumble recovery, his stats weren't what they thought they would be when they drafted the kid from West Virginia. But this season has more than made up for that as he has shined brightly for the Yeti so far this season. So far he already has 4 sacks and 10 Passes Deflected. Only Ricardo Sandoval, a Defensive Tackle has more sacks. He leads the team in passes defended, and the season is barely halfway completed. (f you prorate his stats to cover a full season, he is projected to get 20 PDs and 8 sacks, which is incredible. Nobody last season came even close to getting those 2 numbers side by side. Ishigawa could be a complete freak hidden amongst the rough Yeti squad. While it may be true that anyone on the Yeti are over looked, I feel that Haruki is even more over looked and underrated at this point in this 5th season on the NSFL. Coming in as a rookie to an already dominant front seven that is stacked with talent one would not be surprised to see Sierra under performing compared to the rest of the lineman in the league, and definitely compared to the linemen around him. But that simply has not been the case. Ryan Sierra is playing out of his mind this year as is one of the best defensive linemen in the entire league through week 7. You want a stat? Here's a stat. 8 sacks. Ryan Sierra has tallied 8 sacks through 7 games playing as an interior lineman. How does he do it? Well, we're not very sure. He certainly isn't very fast, and he is very heavy and very strong. He is able to get off blocks even against very competent offensive line bots and bring down the quarterback for a loss. Against one of the strongest sets of o-bots in Arizona Sierra finished with 3 tackles and a strip-sack which was recovered by his teammate Clegane. Like the rest of the Otters he suffers a bit in the run game and doesn't have more than one tackle for loss. But that speaks to the aggressive pass-rush the Otters employ which allows runners to break free to the outside easily. In a nutshell, Ryan Sierra is one of the best rookies in the NSFL this year and will be a force on the line for many seasons. (S5) - PT 4 - Underrated - mmfootball - 01-17-2018 ![]() (S5) - PT 4 - Underrated - ExemplaryChad - 01-17-2018 A player that I’d like to call particular attention to this year is my new teammate Ricardo Sandoval. He’s just come over from Baltimore where he was a standout, but he’s bound to be a little forgotten in the mess that is our Colorado Yeti. Still, the Yeti have boasted a decent run defense, and much of that is due to both of the Sandoval brothers. I don’t want Ricardo to be forgotten, even if our team only puts up one or two wins this year. He deserves to be kept in the conversation with other defensive line greats. In fact, he’s outperforming perennial best DT in the league Dan Miller so far. His ability to plug up the middle of the defense and get tough run stops with the occasional line penetration and TFL or sack has served the Yeti defense well (even if it doesn’t show in the win column). Ricardo has put up pretty decent numbers this year, enough to get him tied for tenth in the league in sacks with five. He also has 31 tackles, 4 for a loss. These two numbers are good enough for top in the league among defensive tackles. And considering how tired the Yeti defense is being on the field so much, his impact through the first half of the year can’t be overstated. Whether it be an under the radar player who quietly puts up decent numbers or a superstar who never receives their due. Personally, I'm of the opinion of the latter in this particular circumstance. A player who started his career as a quarterback and was essentially forced to position swap despite winning the pre-season battle for his position in Yellowknife. A perennial consistent top-10 receiver in the league Alexandre LeClair has battle adversity at every corner to turn what likely would have been an elite quarterback career into an elite wide receiver career. Taking a page from people like Terrelle Pryor or Julian Edelman book he converted successfully and now puts up disgusting numbers without much notice. He's currently fourth in receiving yards this year, with 18.3 average yards per catch. He also has a very respectable 6 touchdowns, playing with the man who usurped what should have been his quarterback spot. Definitely an underrated player if ever there was one. Of the three players ahead of him in receiving yards, one is likely on steroids, and another one has a significantly lower yards per catch mark, he just plays on a receiver hungry team that throws him plenty of looks. The last player that's ahead of him is generally considered either the best or second best receiver in the league so to think you're likely the second best receiver in the league is incredible for a player without much fan fare. @Zoone16 (S5) - PT 4 - Underrated - Drizzy - 01-18-2018 I'm going to toot my own horn here and say Cordell Joshua has been an underrated presence on the Chicago Coyotes this season. There's no getting past it, the Coyotes have been trash this season, being sub par in literally every aspect of the game. Their offense can't score for shit, their defense seems to get scored on at will and the team has found itself in a serious rut that they show no sign of getting out of. The seemingly only bright light on the team this season has been Joshua, a defensive end rookie who has managed to exceed expectations and establish himself as a serious pass rush threat who gives offensive lineman something to think about. Joshua leads the league in tackles for loss, racking up a mighty 11 so far, along with a handful of sacks and one of the best tackle numbers for a defensive end in the DSFL. Chicago have really been a bad team this season, there's no other way to think about it, and Joshua as their star player has had little to work with around him, but he's hopeful that perhaps his events can inspire something in the Coyotes as the season gets into its second half.
