- League is relatively young/new, so most users are on their first player and were drafted for the first time ever by the team they're on now. So lots of team-loyalty going on. Which is good, but means people don't test FA generally

- Making money is pretty easy and there isn't a whole lot to spend it on, so there isn't really a lot of incentive to pursue a big contract other than pride (which is fine) or if you want super easy money (also fine)

- No teams are in cap trouble to the point that their players are going unsigned by their teams because their team can't afford them. At least, not that I know of. The few big FAs there have been all tested because they wanted the story line or pride or change of scenery or something (all of which are fine, again)

+1

Then I'd really suggest tweaking the cap. If GMs/players don't have a couple tough decisions to make, then there might as well not be a salary cap.

Maybe if scrubs like @TheWoZy didn't take cheap deals chasing rings then this problem wouldn't exist!

wait...shit.

I have thought about something similar to this myself and even considered proposing it during the last 2 off-season summits. My thought though was more of like a "pension" type approach where players can carry over minimal TPE based on NSFL years of service. It would keep the money aspect out of it but may possibly prevent players from retiring and recreating as frequently. I never really calculated out a reasonable balance therefore it was never proposed but my initial thought was something like 5 TPE for each year played in the NSFL starting after year 5. A player that plays 10 seasons then recreates would get an additional 25 TPE, which is helpful but not a crippling advantage over a newer player.

P.S. the salary cap in this league is a joke since the contracts are basically grandfathered shit. 1000 TPE players making $2M a season? WTF is up with that.

Then you should make sure there's a minimum that each player can take.

People always complain on GOMHL about the tightness of the cap, but it's created parity, some good trades, and keeps people from taking stupid deals.

We re-evaluate it every 2 seasons so we have an average dollar amount per TPE in the league (because of growth or decline) that reflects well.

You need 20 to a team and your cap is 100mil? Expect the average to be 5m per person. If you want to create parity and not have a 'huge' contract, you lower the cap to 80m. Now you're averaging 4m a person.

You create a min based off TPE scaling, and you'll see capped (or high TPE earning) players at 5 or 6m, you can only have so many of them. You can't load up a team, but you also can't give the weird 10m contract.

A minimum on all players makes it tight, but improves the league drastically.

Most likely. You also? There's at least a few examples.

And we have some teams wanting to expand the cap

I make $4m per season

Carryover TPE - Roly - 04-17-2018

Or combine these approaches with the pension format.

After your 5th season, you can contribute $3 - $10 mill of your salary that season for matching 1% of the TPE you earn that season.

Players can decide each season how much of their salary they want to spend to increase their TPE pension, but they have to have played 5 seasons and make at least $3 mill.

If they player gains 100 TPE in a season, they'd get 1 TPE per $1 mill contributed per season. Over the course of a 10 season career, it would accumulate to 15 TPE - 50 TPE depending on contributions.

Maybe thats too complicated
