(S7) - Special PT - Changes - Durden - 04-24-2018 I want a better, real salary cap to be added to the league. There is nothing worse than having contracts be meaningless, because then everyone can just decide to go to one team and make all competition ineffective. A good league needs a fluid salary cap that grows (and shrinks) as the league does. I've been a part of too many leagues that cap means nothing and it just devalues everything. A tight, quality salary cap means that there is more parity in the teams, which results in better competition, and more people staying active. No one enjoys seeing the same team win again and again, unless you're on that team. I want the high TPE requirements removed for the update scale. I think it's ridiculous to have to spend TEN TPE in order to get from 80 to 81. I've got my main stats AT 80, but now I feel like I've been in the SHL for a year and a half real time, and I'm at 1200 TPE and working on finishing out a build. It's awesome that I feel like I've got decent stats in my primary abilities, but I also feel like I have SO LONG to go until I see anything getting improved. To get a "guaranteed" 7 TPE a week, but have it take 10 to increase by ONE, it sucks. It's a two-sided sword, I know... but at the same time, I feel stagnant already. I love the two leagues. When I joined SHL, I really fell in love with the league because of the rivalries, and wanting to prove everyone wrong. I was excited to see what the NEXT draft had in store for me, because I knew that I developed myself and I had SOME control over where I went because it rested on how much I had done previously. I want to show people wrong here, and move myself up in the draft pool. I wish there was more inter-division trash talk going on, as it seems like no one is talking about anything, but that could just be me not putting my nose out there. (S7) - Special PT - Changes - Toasty - 04-24-2018 One thing I would like to see added into the game is a Inactive list. There have been countless time where I am going through rosters and I see a shit ton of inactive players on the team… Especially in the DSFL. Or I am writing about some post draft review and I look and see oh they have a low TPE for an S1 they have to be inactive and when I write inactive I get Dmed that so and so is not inactive so that is where a list that updates every so often (every Saturday I dunno) that says “Mason Brown | Fire-Bred | Inactive/active. I have reach 100 words but I have a lot of ideas that could help the league so I am going to continue. An inactives do not carry over to the next season. After every season all of the inactive player are thrown into a pool and then they are drafted in the IPL (Inactive Players League) and are drafted. The draft order will be based off of Points for from the previous season. The players will remain on their DSFL/NSFL teams. This would be a league where GMs can learn the ropes of GAMing. The GMs would not be able to stay in the IFL for more than 4 seasons. I also think that players with a lot of money should be able to buy TPE, like 10 TPE for 5 million, 5 TPE for 3 million, 20 TPE for 9 million. They can be bought multiple times a week, but you can not go negative in money from buy pure TPE. One thing I would like to see gone would have to be the ability to go from being a D-Linemen to a quarterback and vise versa or any unrealistic change in position. I feel like we should attempt to make this as real as possible. In the NFL if a quarterback plays at DL he would be in trouble. Even with putting on a shit ton of weight (which is very unlikely) they still would struggle. Or if they do switch from quarterback to d-linemen they can’t lose/gain more than 45 pounds in one season without having to sacrifice money to do so.(don’t count this) One more thing they should fix is player regression. If a player is in the DSFL the regression should start when they join the NSFL and regression should come later like after 12 season before they regress. One thing I like about the league is how you can ask questions all day and no one will be how do you still got question or are you done yet. I feel like this is helpful to the rookies that need help but are scared and once the ask a few question they will realize that we understand what it is like to be a rookie in this situation. I know when I joined I had umpteen million question, just ask @PDXBaller and I still do and t is nice to know that if I got a question I can ask it and feel safe asking the question. (S7) - Special PT - Changes - Supersquare04 - 04-24-2018 1 like: I like the community of this league a lot. Sometimes I'll just be browsing the NSFL discord during the middle of work or browsing the forums and i'll see a joke about dermot or something beaver said about not being a fraud (which he clearly is) and I'll break out laughing. I honestly love both the Portland and Colorado locker room, the people here are awesome and I just love hanging out with this community. Even many of the media posts on the site are awesome and I love reading through analysis about players and what not. Also dermot sucks, just wanted to say that and definitely not for fluff 110 1 Removal I think the biggest thing that needs to be addressed is the whole position switching from defensive lineman who weighs 300 pounds to a perennial all star quarterback with NO hiccups. For 1 the current system needs to be removed and replaced with a new system. I will get to that new system in the addition section but the current system has got to go. It just doesn't make any sense that a cornerback can go from all star corner to all star quarterback in one season. That is just ridiculous and it really hurts the immersion for me, at least in my experience. 1 addition Now about the idea I had for position switching. I feel like we still need to allow people to switch positions, that way they aren't stuck in a horrible position and wanting to switch, or in the Libertys case on the brink of a playoff run when their quarterback goes inactive. My idea is that players can switch to and from any position, defensive tackle to quarterback even, however there will be a penalty. Although this plan still allows people to switch, there will be a bigger penalty than right now (which is virtually nonexistent lets be honest). My idea is that when a player switches, they can apply 66% (2/3rd) of their tpe as they please, however they LOSE 33% of it. This may sound very harsh but hear me out. If we look at the Oles situation I am going to use his current tpe on his sig (824) for my calculations. If Oles wanted to switch to cb, he would lose about 280TPE, which is quite big. This would leave Oles with 544TPE to work with. Oles can still earn for a little bit and get over the 600 and maybe even the 700TPE mark if he is active. This will accomplish pretty much exactly what I am aiming for, if someone is switching to a new position they will NOT hit the ground running. They will take a huge hit in TPE and need to earn their way back into maxing their stats out. It also means that anyone who switches is not a franchise solution to the problem. As it stands now Oles can fight regression quite hard to buy time for a new qb to develop into the new starter for the Liberty. With the new system the Liberty could still stay competitive but it would be a bit harder since they moved oles. And they would have to address a new franchise quarterback much sooner since oles can't fight regression as hard. Keep in mind I haven't tested these numbers at all so whoever is reading this 66% is probably not the perfect magic number and testing would be needed to find a much better percentage. (S7) - Special PT - Changes - DeathOnReddit - 04-25-2018 Idiot's get treated like idiots. @majesiu (S7) - Special PT - Changes - majesiu - 04-25-2018 (04-25-2018, 04:43 PM)DeathOnReddit Wrote:Idiot's get treated like idiots. @majesiu Well, you are kind of proving my point saying that. Anyway it's good thing for the leauge if my biggest concern is about a single user. (S7) - Special PT - Changes - White Cornerback - 04-25-2018 Written: Write 1 thing that you would like added to the league, 1 thing that you would like removed, and 1 thing that you currently like. Each part requires 100 words to be written to receive credit for it. Added Right now the big thing I want to see added to the league is the Wiki which is currently a work in progress, yeah I know this is kind of a cop out considering it's going to be added. Brand new to the site? Hmm. I suppose really what I'd like to see is more of a community buy in, people applying for jobs ranging from head office to updater and everything inbetween. Team work does infact make the dream work contrary to popular belief, if you find yourself consistently unhappy with the site, or the owners, or the GM's or the HO, or the updaters then maybe you should make a change, be proactive and take a job. You should be the change you seek. Then again if you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole as the saying goes. Food for thought more than anything else. Removed I'd like to see the regression limits for DSFL atleast given a season or two immune. Because at it stands every season spent down there (not including their waiver season) takes away from their time in the NSFL. As it stands people see the league as something to get away from and leave in the past because they want to get to the NSFL. I know the DSFL is a stepping stone but it shouldn't be a doormat people wipe their feet on before reaching greater things and leaving it in the past. I understand the role of it is to keep new players active and improve retention but would 2 regression seasons really affect it that much? It's not like we have an abundance of DSFL players who would be upset getting to play a season or two longer with a top talent. Like Obviously I like the community, it might seem like a cliched answer at this point and it's something that everybody says but I truly mean it. Sometimes I have really awful days and I bop onto discord or the jcink forum and just see what's going on, more often than not it helps me cope in real life just by allowing myself to be absorbed into something different that's abstract from my actual life. Even when shit's going wrong in the sim, on the forums or in the discord, it's alot better than what's playing out in the back of my head during those awful days where it feels like it's not worth even waking up. But hey I should have my honors degree in business by the end of May which coincidentally will be the sites year anniversary so we'll hopefully do something big for that. (S7) - Special PT - Changes - HENDRIX - 04-25-2018 Added: I wouldn't mind if filler players got added to our league. I mean not including the OL, we have to find 18! starters. That's a lot. And our drafts are not exactly huge. I think there will be some gaping roster holes in the future around the league. To combat that, having like 100-200 tpe filler players that cost cap money would be cool. This would help ease the demand of a position far outweighing the supply. The fillers don't have to be stars, but they shouldn't be absolute garbage like the bots that fill out all the rosters. GMs would still have a lot of incentive to improve upon these filler players, as 100-200 tpe players will not be good. Removed: DSFL eligibility needs modification. Something for new, slower earners in the DSFL. Like a TPE limit or something like what they do in the SBA before years start ticking on their regression clock. They could earn at their own pace and then hit the NSFL with 7 seasons of regression free play. I do know of one DSFL player that would have really liked this. I don't know which TPE number to use (maybe 300?), but whatever it is the player has 4 DSFL seasons to hit that number. If they don't hit it by the 4th season then their eligibility is up and must find a NSFL spot. If they hit that specified number before their 4 seasons are up then that will be the their last season in the DSFL. No further TPE could be applied in the DSFL to that player and no hoarding of old TPE that would try to be applied once they are in the NSFL. I think this should be seriously looked at. Like: This is easily the Baltimore Hawks locker room. I've been interacting with some of them for 11 months and our newer players have been a joy as well. If it wasn't for their activity I wouldn't enjoy this site remotely as much. I stay away from public forums for the most part, not just in the NSFL, but every forum/league I'm in, so teammates that are going to help make this an enjoyable existence are the utmost importance to me. It is also pretty cool to draft sim league newcomers and see them progress into valuable members to the league by doing important jobs. (S7) - Special PT - Changes - Jiggly_333 - 04-26-2018 Add voice chat stuff to the streams. This is something that I was saying to Kolbe and TC, but the only reason I really care that much about the SCOR is because of that voice chat during streams. I almost always prefer actually talking to people instead of typing (it helps with comedic timing) and it really gets people involved and invested in what’s going on. There are some technical things we’d need to figure out maybe, but it would be a fun way of getting people interested in actually watching these games as they happen. I know that I don’t watch streams, but if we did something like that I probably would. Remove the NCT. It’s unnecessary. I don’t even know if I’ll make the word count because I think that’s all that needs to be said. Some people thought it would be a “cool idea” but all it is is a waste of time and effort from people. We don’t have the people to be able to run it at the moment. It’s sort of like the DSFL as it was an idea from the SHL that we implemented too soon. In fact, now that I think about it, I think it’s already dead; but we should keep it dead for a while. At least until we figure out how we could do it properly. I still love almost everything. This was my first sim league and while I’ve had some rough times in it, the people here are great. I say that I don’t have many friends IRL and it’s true, but the guys here are like family (at least the ones that have been around for a while). As I said, there were rough patches in some earlier seasons; but it seems like they’ve been handled and we’re prepared to tackle them if they arise again. I think that the biggest thing for any player is the people that they’re playing with and while my player may not be a world beater, I know that I have teammates that will keep me caring about this league. (Secondary add: You already know my idea about HR. I still want it implemented. Not a salary position, not 24/7, just a reserves squad in case of issues between users and such. More like an arbitrator than anything else.) (S7) - Special PT - Changes - 7hawk77 - 04-26-2018 What I want removed: Discord. Specifically It being used as a primary communication I think hurts the league. Let me give some examples. Lets say that I can only check the forums twice a day, and only check discord twice a day. With something as fluid as discord, the conversation could have flooded with a lot of conversing where as the forum it is much easier to keep up with unread content. This division of content has definitely impacted me and when my LR primarily went over to discord, it has become difficult to continue keeping up with it. I will say that discord is great for watching the game and discussing, but so is twitch chat so whatever. What I want added: This is a personal preference and builds on the previous answer but I think a separate forum for forum games would be great. I've personally tried to get some forum games of Mafia/werewolf going without much luck. For example, Mafiascum.net is a forum based specifically on playing the forum game mafia. I was never big in to this community, however I did post regularly on the MTGSalvation mafia sub-forum. I found myself coming back to the site more often to play mafia with people I liked and every now and then I'd make other posts during card releases about magic the gathering. I think something like this can engage the players that can afford more activity and pulls that activity in to the forum instead of discord or other things. It also allows players that aren't active enough to participate the ability to view the activity and see the fun on the forum. Like: I think leadership has done really well. Head office is handling getting shit done and Timeconsumer has stepped up handling a ton of other things.Overall I think a lot of the league changes have been improving the league and I don't think it's getting worse. I think that search for continual improvement will allow the nsfl to be a tight knit and fun simulation community for a long time. I also like the majority of our community. I recruited one of my friends to play, and even though we haven't been able to play on the same team, we are both having a lot of tun and it gives us things to talk about. (S7) - Special PT - Changes - TrueTexican - 04-27-2018 Added to the League: I'd like to see more TPE opportunities or different ways to earn TPE for slow players like me. I don't have all the time in the world to sit at the computer and it's the last thing I want to be doing at the end of the day which is why I only pop in a few times a week to check on things and then skedaddle on my way out. It would be great for DSFL players to get special PTs or even let them do DSFL Predictions to earn a few extra TPE a week. This would help us get more TPE and ready for the NSFL quicker. Removed from the League: I don't particularly like the current regression rules for DSFL players. Once Boss is ready to retire, I probably won't have more than 3 seasons before I'll hit regression myself and that's a mighty awful thought because I thought I'd have a longer career in the NSFL than that. I'd like the rule about regression to be removed for DSFL players so they can spend time in the DSFL without being penalized. I don't know if going to a college system would be better or more realistic, but I feel like time spent in a developmental setting shouldn't count towards regression for a player's long term career. One thing I like: Well I can say I definitely like the people and my opportunities to role play as a Cowboy from Texas who plays football! The community is lots of fun to be around and chat with and I like seeing all the responses to my (character) posts where I talk about nonsense and use Texas phrases for fun. If we can keep up the positive energy and good community we got going I think we can keep more people around the league for lots more seasons to come. I think the people here have really made it worth my while to play. |
