I always did like reality shows. Well, certain shows. But one that always seemed to resonate with me was Gold Rush: Alaska, which has been re dubbed as 'Gold Rush' in recent seasons. Their pursuit of wealth and, well, gold was entertaining to watch, as was the witnessing of their trying to maintain personal relationships with one another in such a strenuous, profit-oriented environment.

Well, I, being a football player and being a dedicated follower of the show, decided to go and spend some time with these miners to see what this business was all about. All I can really say to preclude this, though, is that it is not what it looks like.

First of all, those camera crews are literally everywhere. I mean, everywhere. They don't care what you're doing, the only time you can have any privacy is, essentially, in your camper. They will film and record practically everything that you do, and it honestly feels somewhat invasive.

Beyond that, however, it's long and tiring work. All day, these guys are grinding away to earn a paycheck and to make a living, to bring something back to their families. They're often exhausted by the time the day is done, and even I, despite not working the hours that these guys were, started to suffer from some of that fatigue.

I can, with confidence after my experience, say that gold mining is not for everyone.

Dear god what would Mat Akselsen actually do for reality TV? Would he embrace it's absurd nature? Retreat into his own shell? No one really knows, not even himself, as he is loathe to participate in one of the greatest failures of western civilization. So if he was a part of it, you would have to think that it would be some kind of programming that was out of his control, like Hard Knocks.

So if one werer to guess, Akselsen on Hard Knocks would actually be really boring. The majority of the times the cameras would simply find him studying the playbook, working out in the gym, recovering with the trainers, or in the QB room working with the coaches. The cameras will follow him into the cafeteria where he'll eat a meat, some leafy greens, and some kimchi or other fermented side. Gotta get those probiotics in. If you're really lucky you might catch him cheating with some bread or some pasta, a small indulgence for a hard worker.

In fact, it might be the most boring television event anyone had seen in a while. Simply a QB putting the time and dedication into his craft. If you were looking for something else, I don't really know what you expected from Mat Akselsen.

Written: Must include 200 words. Reality shows are a major TV sensation. Whether it's watching idiots drinking and making a fool of themselves, seeing drama (which is most likely fake), or shows like Amercain Idol, The Voice, and other game shows with real world implications, there is always something that people enjoy that isn't quite the same as a TV show/movie. Your player has been chosen to participate in one of these. Write about your appearance on the show.

Lavelle was recently chosen to participate in the reality show called "The Toughest Trade". For any of you that don't know , the toughest trade is an irish based show which basically takes an athlete from one particular sport and trading places with another from a different sport. An example would be when Aidan O'Shea who plays for Mayo in the GAA switched with former Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver Roberto Wallace.

O'Shea played and took snaps at mainly TE/OT while Wallace attempted to get to grips with the difficulty and physicality of the GAA.

Lavelle was picked and during this years offseason , he switched with MLS star and fellow Irishman Kevin Doyle who is currently playing for the Colorado Rapids.

Doyle lined up both at WR/CB in the Yellowknife Wraiths preseason camps and found that often the physicality was too much for him to handle. On the other side of the spectrum, Lavelle settled in quite well at Colorado, using his experience as a youth playing full back and in wider winger roles to actually challenge for a spot on the team at the ripe age of 29.

Both players returned home and had great things to say about the experience and challenges of both sports.

Ben Horne would be selected for Survivor: the 37th Season: Pro Athletes vs Pro Gamers vs Average Joes. Ben would be well known for his strength in reward and immunity challenges, breaking a record for consecutive immunity changes won. However, by the merge, Ben’s athletic ability would create a constant target on his back. Ben would avoid this targets by continuing to win immunity and rewards. No one could stop him. Ben would also become known for his constant loyalty, because he hates to lie. This loyalty would help form strong voting blocks to take out contestants 1 by 1. While these traits would push him to the final 4, his loyalty would get him caught in a blindside by his long-time trusted partner NBA Legend Lebron James. This break in trust would force Ben to hate the Cavs, and become Lebron’s enemy. As a member of the jury (now that he was voted off), Ben would convince everyone that Lebron’s game was all just riding Ben’s coattail. Nothing was led by him. This would cause everyone to flip their original votes from Lebron to average joe Steve, an accountant from Laramie, Wyoming. Steve would win the million bucks and forever be a fan of the Luchadores.

Jayce Tuck is going to be featured on a new reality TV series that will premier this fall on FX and FXX. The show will be titled Harder Knockers and will feature NSFL players that are going through harder things than training camp as is pictured on Hard Knocks 2.0.

The first season will follow Jayce Tuck along his path through the National Simulation Football League, which will include his meteoric rise to fame throughout the league, his fall from grace, his one year sentence in a federal penitentiary, and his currently ongoing road to rehabilitation.

The league and the network jumped at the opportunity to film the first season on the defensive lineman, as there will be nothing the league and its fans will enjoy more than watching the fall of the most hated man in professional sports. There is little doubt that this series is going to rake in some big numbers for it. Jayce’s agent has publically mentioned he is participating in the show as a part of his deal with the league’s officials to prevent a lifetime ban from the league.

We tried to reach out to the man himself, but when he was were able to contact him he did not really have any comments. It looks like he has embraced his fate and is just going through the motions.

Reality show Titled: The Downfall, Thunder cat noooooooooooo

With the recent and long standing attempts to be a competitive team after years of innept results the Sabrecats looked like they might finally start to make some noise. Well que a few seasons of some very promising developments just to be met with crushing disappoint in the final weeks, followed by a short lived playoff run, which has now turned into another rebuild. I mean other teams have been worse off, but the Sabre cats, wow. With this beginning of a down turn for the franchise the team took it upon themselves to start a reality show surrounding the players who are left, and how they are dealing with this down turn for the Franchise. Iyah Blewitt after hearing the flak constantly about being a wasted pick in his draft, has resurrected his career with a season he had hoped for season after season just to now be met with a decline in his teams success. The camera crew will follow Blewitt as he stands as one of the now senior members of the team trying to balance the uncertain nature of where his career goes now with a young family and his ability to keep his trophy wife with the success starting to wain. Will he stay with the cats after this contract, or kick it elsewhere?

Welcome to... MEAN TWEETS NSFL PLAYER EDITION!!!!

Last week, we brought on Yellowknife's own Mat Akselsen, from way up north, and we're bringing on another quarterback, one that's been the subject of much more criticism based on his performance lately. But here he is... drumroll please, RYAN APPLEHORT!

"Thank you guys, thank you, it's a real honor to be out here to read the tweets of the people who don't like me as much as I do."

*Audience laughs*

"So here's the first tweet: Ryan Applehort is a Walmart Mike Boss. As in, without the talent and without the good looks. -Mike DeWizo."

*Laughing*

"I'd disagree about the good looks part, but you might be onto something with the first one. Haha. On to the next one."

"I don't get why people say there's going to be a future rivalry between Borkus Maximus the GOAT and Ryan Crappleman. Clear difference. -Second Line Fanpage."

"Well, at least people are giving me nicknames now. Anyways, here's the next one:"

"Aplehort u pee bal!! -chadpennington"

"Same."

"I guess this is the last one for now? I mean, there's plenty more, but:"

"Bork Bork Something Something Bovo > Applehort Borkus!! Ruff -Totally not a Bovo burner account".

"Interesting name."

AND THAT'S IT!!! GET OFF THE STAGE APPLEHORT, WE WANNA INTERVIEW OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, PAPA SQUARE, DWAYNE AARON!

Bradley Westfield’s worst nightmare. Being selected to be on a reality TV show and no choice but to say yes. When signing a contract always be sure to read the fine print. There was a clause in the Otters contact that he signed a few years ago that states he will have to perform certain duties or obligations outside of the NSFL. Never in a million years would he have thought this was what they meant. He also would never have signed it. Brad has never liked reality TV as it doesn’t seem very real. He isn’t a talented singer and is not interested in others seeing if they are talented singers either. Luckily that was not what he was chosen to do. Brad was selected to be on Dancing with the Stars. He will be dancing with a woman named Rachel Sombre. He doesn’t expect to be on the show long but like everything else that he does, he will give it his all. As long as the judges and adoring fans like the macarena and the funky chicken, he could go really far. So good luck to all the contestants, may you all lose to the big man doing a chicken dance.
