Kevin Fitzpatrick answered questions today regarding his DSFL experiences and potential futures. The questions addressed all kinds of topics. For example, here were some of the questions asked.

“What happened in Week Four against Tijuana?”

“Have you heard that your performance in that game was rated ‘sub-Pierno?’”

“Have you been asked about switching to another position like running back, given that in Week Four you rushed better than you threw?”

“Have any NSFL teams contacted you and expressed interest in drafting you?”

“Was any interest expressed after your Week 4 performance?”

“Really?”

“How much longer do you plan on playing in the DSFL?”

“Are you hoping to stay down in order to get more games away from your Week 4 performance?”

Here were his answers.

“Our game plan just didn’t work.”

“I have heard that.”

“I have not been.”

“Yes, three of them.”

“Yes.”

“Yup.”

“I hope to play through S9.”

“I guess.”

As many are already aware, Eric Kennedy has done a number of media interviews over the years, starting with local New Orleans publications based out of his hometown and eventually moving up to more national affiliates. Despite playing his entire career in Canada, Kennedy has a wide fanbase spread across the United States and he works hard to stay in touch with his fans.

The most popular topics these days are Yellowknife’s winning seasons in S7 and S8 as well as Kennedy’s transition to Wide Receiver after struggling at Running Back for much of his career. Kennedy is much happier these days and seems to love his new role, so it’s a topic that he’s happen to discuss on many occasions. And, of course, it feels even better knowing that he’s contributing to his team’s success as they retain the best regular season record for their second season in a row.

Hi, I am Mike Reed with South Dakota sports daily and I am here with latest quarterback prospect Joliet Christ who played at the University of South Dakota and is from Brookings here in the Mount Rushmore state.

MR: Joliet, why are you making the jump now and going through the waiver system rather than waiting to go to the draft.

JC: I am ready to go. I want to get some game experience as soon as possible and have that extra game tape to study the game and be well prepared for my future.

MR: You went to USD but had an offer from SDSU there in Brookings, why not play for the Jackrabbits?

JC: I considered it but in the end, the coach, scheme and playing time opportunities were the best at USD so I was a Coyote and am proud of it.

MR: You are a more Mobile QB and not a traditional pocket passer, how do you plan on using this in the pros?

JC: My game has gotten me to where I need to be. I run, yes, but that does not define me. I do whatever helps the team win no matter if it is running the ball or throwing it.

MR: Any preference on playing destination?

JC: Not really, though I do want to go to a team that will let me get on the field.

MR: Last Question. Your name is different, care to explain the back story?

JC: Ha ha. My parents were a big fan of George Mikan, famously from Joliet, Illinois and played at DePaul University, same two things as my father, so I am named after a city in Illinois.

MR: That is great. Thank you for your time.

Well, Yellowknife is once again on top of the league with an 8-2 record through the first ten games. We are looking to seal up HFA throughout the playoffs with a very difficult four game slate that include road tilts against the Otters and Liberty as well as two games against the up and coming Colorado Yeti, who have won more games for the franchise this season than the past two seasons combined. Despite a stutter in the Yellowknife offense that set the world on fire last season Rainey assured the media that the trio of himself, speedy QB Matt Akselsen, and dynamic WR Eric Kennedy are still feeling great about their Ultimus chances this season. When asked about rumors that the lack of offensive production of late had produced turmoil in the locker room Rainey responded “There’s nothing that’s going to move this team off the trajectory its on, and that’s towards and Ultimus Championship this season”.

(A short, balding, round man in an oversized dark colored wool suit approaches the podiumn He clears his throat and begins to speak but his voice cracks he clears it again and takes a sip of water)

On behalf of Erlich Burnsman THE running back for THE Orange County Otters (i think), please allow me to reintroduce myself. On second thought, it doesnt matter what my name is. I've forgotten it in my 5 season absence. What i have NOT forgotten is how to dominate a football league through my client, Erlich Burnsman. While you pencil necked dweebs sit there in my presence, honored im sure, writing down or recording my every action, my every word, my client Erlich Burnsman is training hard and long. You think he has been impressive thus far in his career? YOU. HAVENT. SEEN. ANYTHING.YET.

(Burnsmans agent attempts to drop the mic before realizing its attached to the podium. After a brief failed struggle to pull the mic out of its holder he looks back up at the press before straightening his suit jacket. As he turns to walk away he stumbles a bit, looks back over his shoulder at the press and begins to chuckle. The laugh grows more menacing by the second as he disappears behind the stage...)

(some amount of words, probably more than 150)

What would Mark Grau say to the media? Well since I hold press conferences semi-regularly we already see a lot of what I have to say to the media. The thing is that I haven't spoken to the media in recent days and I have a lot to say.

First of all, 5-5. The Yeti are 5-5. After the league laughing at us for the past few seasons, we are now in the running for the playoffs. Feels good that no one has anything to say now. They got shut up quick. It's funny how there's no one with anything to say now. Oh well.

Secondly, this is just the start. We have a group of young guys with only up to go. We have a new game manager on top of a solid GM roster. Next year the team is only going to have more going for it.

Lastly, this has been a great year of learning for me. The change from wide receiver to running back took some time and I'm still learning. Next year, expect a full three down role and some excellent yardage.

Verso L'Alto does enjoy meeting with the press, despite not taking the time to do so very often. Being drafted #2OA in the S7 draft and then winning rookie of the year in the same season was the highlight of his professional carer, but since that time the fame and attention have thankfully cooled down a bit, allow L'Alto some time to himself after games. He enjoys not having the spotlight, and yet, on this occasion he has been approached again about the state of his team at the trade deadline and specifically, his thoughts on the post season and future career opportunities. L'Alto replies that with the amount of hype that he and the rest of the team had felt going into the season, they had not expected to have a losing record by this point in the season and had certainly not expected to be chasing the Colorado Yeti for a place in the playoffs. L'Alto is pleased, despite these developments, with the new leadership on the team and is still hopeful for the Hawks playoff chances, especially with the Philadelphia Liberty "selling the farm" as it were.
