The story of Shannon Hobbs is not one of woe or sorry like maybe some other players. He’s not ripped from the pages of Blindside or anything like that. His is a much more simple story, and his trials and tribulations, for the most part, are reserved for his on field struggles more so than anything he faces outside of the sport. Growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was only four years old when Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on his hometown, temporarily forcing them out of their homes. Fortunately, his family was able to pay to rebuild, a luxury many in their situation did not have. He experienced devastation, he experienced loss, but it was always at a distance. For many of the guys on his high school team, this was not the case. The school, the coach, the field, it was the only place they could truly call home after the hurricane destroyed everything.
All of this seems rather “doom and gloom” but this story would be anything but. He was able to turn this “adversity” into something positive and earn a scholarship to the University of Utah. He was able to get into the DSFL as one of the fastest players in the league. He was able to do all of this despite what some would call “trouble” or “hardship.” Hobbs doesn’t call them that, he calls them “opportunities.”

When ESPN approached me about doing a 30 for 30 on my rise to NSFL stardom, I was shocked. Not shocked that they're working on it, but rather that it took them this long to actually do it. The 30 for 30 documentary series is one of the best things to ever happen to documentaries. To be another episode in the series is a dream.

To no surprise, ESPN wanted a big part of the episode to be about that horrific incident while in college. For those unfamiliar, in my freshman year at Florida, we were playing against Florida State, a rivalry game for us. On a play in the third quarter, one of the worst things I'd ever witnessed happened. Our quarterback snapped the ball and dropped back to pass. He found his receiver, Kevin Williams, about 20 yards down the field and dropped the ball right into his hands. Running with it, Williams didn't see the defender coming on his right side. Right when he turned around, the defender clocked him with a vicious helmet to helmet hit. Kevin dropped to the ground and was completely knocked out. We all knew right away that it was bad. We all rushed to him and hoped he was just winded or something. He was still out when the trainers loaded him on to the stretcher. The rest of the game was a blur, don't even remember the score. We waited to hear word from the hospital all night. We were all just devastated for Williams. The next day we got word about his condition. In the documentary, you'll get to hear from some of Williams' teammates and myself and just how much we were affected by the whole situation. You're not going to want to miss this 30 for 30.

This film would be called "To The Heights" (aptly named as it is the meaning of Verso L'Alto in Italian) and would be a heart warming story of triumph over adversity through trials and misfortunes. Of course its an inspirational film in the vein of many sports movies that have a hard time even putting together an original and creative score. But L'Alto would be proud to see his life chronicled in so flattering a way.

How did this all come about anyway? Verso L'Alto was offered a cameo role in the upcoming yet to be release film, The Outlaw Killer starring @37thchamber. While talking with him offset, the fledgling saw the opportunity for another feature length film. After clearing the idea with his trusty confidant, Epictitus Milburn, L'Alto signed over the rights to his story.

The main plot of the film follows L'Alto's basketball career throughout high school and college, L'Alto struggles to deal with his own playing injuries as well as his mother's bout with breast cancer, and his parents' ugly break up and divorce. Although it might be hard for many to identify a professional athlete as one who has had a "hard life", L'Alto isn't concerned with this and firmly believes that his story may have a positive impact on anyone who hears of it.

The main feature of Chad Pennington's life would have to his time during High School and college. He's only been out of college for two and a half years so there isn't much else to his life yet, but those were the best years of his life so far. During those times all he worried about was winning football games, volunteering at the animal shelter, and hanging out with his brothers and friends. In High School he played all four seasons on the varsity team and it was the time of his life. In college it was still a great time but it was a huge period of transitioning for him into becoming a real man. He spent a ton of time in the gym when he wasn't on the field or in class and tried to use it to cope with the impending DSFL and NSFL draft. It took him a lot of time to figure out how he was going to cope emotionally with the possibility of not getting to stay with the brothers he'd spent his whole life with. The movie would probably start during junior year and end with him getting draft with his brothers and focus on his growth as a person during those years.

Mason Brown is going to be in an all new movie called a Defensive assassin. He is a choice for this position because he leads the NSFL in tackles has 3 sacks and 4 turnovers. The movie would start when the starting linebacker goes down in the middle of the game and Mason gets ran over by the opponent because he froze up on the goal line. It would cut to the side line to see the coach throw his players down a says God Damn It. Then it would cut to the weight room and displays 1 year later. And Mason is benching 225 pounds and ssquatting 300 pounds. Then to a football field with Mason wearing number 52 and the same situation up 3 with 1:37 left on the clock. The ball is ran to his side of the field. He has been waiting for this play. He knew it was coming and now he was in the best shape of his life and the 165 runningbacks runs into the 235 pound linebacker who ends up getting a tackle for loss, a forced fumble. Then it would skip through the rest of his high school career and through his college career and through his bar fights and through his Ultmini win and to the NSFL draft and right after he shakes the hand of the commissioner it cuts to the credits and says The End, to be continued.

Time after time movie studios are making movies about sports teams, players or films about sport in general. The ways of making the movies differ, based on the studio. It can be based on a true story such as Carter High or it can be fictional movie such as Like Mike.

This time producers and screenwriters have got in touch with Declan to talk about his road to American Football. They felt mesmerised how a person who had such a great future back home in Rugby decided to throw everything out and wing it in a different sport based on the little that he knew and learned as a rugby player. When asked would it be a documentary or a fiction based on true story, the producers say that it wont be a documentary, it will be a full motion picture and Harps story will be taken as the base and worked around it to make the end product. The movie is gonna be about a young boy who has a natural talent and he end up travelling to states to follow his dream to become a professional player but he ends up that his dream is not as easy to reach as he would have hoped so. Then the story will about what he has to do and overcome to achieve what he wanted from the beginning.
