Why are certain leagues growing but not ours? it's not something I have the answer for, but I think it's more than recruiting, I think if anything retention should be our focus rather than recruiting.

DE seems to get no stats. DT caps with mediocre TPE. CB feels completely valueless as no one tracks yards allowed. LB apparently only gets stats at ROLB. FB rarely sees the field. HB seems to lack scaling. K seems completely random and 31 yard punts make them die inside. Basically there are too many positions that aren't fun to play.

I'd recommend a legit league job to track CB stats, because that would attract a lot of competitive folks. Also, maybe DL archs should make weight buyable, so players start at DE and can move inside later. This would make earning more valuable at DL.

At least we know the S12 draft class will be big with the addition of 6 players through me and Nick via the Cross Cunts. I doubt many of them will be useul in the long run though cause interest will likely not be super high across the board aha

And from what I've read back into posts before I joined the league, it seems like we haven't had a lot of serious drama in a while. Serious question: does league drama keep players involved or even possibly attract new ones? Like that's literally how our global media system works. People wouldn't pay nearly as much attention to things like politics or even tragedies if the media wasn't literally making things up to incite outrage. Not saying that we should go ahead and start drama here (unless its a good kind), but it might be an explanation.

EDIT: As an example, think about the league activity and interest there was around the whole RocNation thing. People were out refreshing tabs like crazy, I'm sure. Shenanigans like that are good for the league.

Can not co-sign this enough.

More drama, more thunderdomes, more mass retirements. For the health of the league.

I'm literally transitioning to being more active here than SHL because I want to get away from that shit. Pls God no.

It's unfortunate but true. Drama gets people to stick. Which is why at some point I'll probably be here or at PBE full time as well. Can't stand the SHL drama. Good for you for getting out.

Of course I'm not talking about the bad kind of drama. We don't need that and I don't think I really need to draw a specific distinction. But I bring up the RocNation stuff because people seemed to love it, it caught on real quick, and gave players another reason/medium to stay invested. Instead, the way it panned out, it may have hurt the league more than helped (not point fingers, but I think we can all agree on that).

Oh, I'm admittedly not terribly familiar with the RocNation situation, but from what I vaguely recall of it I would agree and I think I'm picking up what you're putting down. One thing I've noticed from browsing through media is there is a lot more variety than in the SHL, both in terms of content (analysis, narrative, etc.) and scope. You don't see a ton of "free agency/draft rankings" which I'd say is a good thing. Media about the league engages people to read it and comment on it. There's not much to say if I rank which teams I want to go to in the draft, it's rather self-serving.

Give people something to talk about and it engages them more, even if it can be controversial or spark heated debate. As long as it's league related - at least tangentially - and not mean-spirited, people will stay tuned.
