(207) (S11) - PT 1 - Training Camp High jinx - Vikain - 10-17-2018 Being a rookie is not easy. Being a rookie that doesn't know that much English is even tougher. As Nagasawa came into the locker room in Baltimore after getting drafted 16th overall by the Hawks he was ready to prove himself in training camp. As he came in seeing all his new players was a bit overwhelming. No one batted an eye or acted any differently. Starting the reps the new QB for the Hawks Applehort waved him over. Nerves were definitely kicking in. As he stared at this young and now successful QB, who will be hopefully throwing to him consistently soon, he watched as words poured out and yet there was something weird but familiar about them. It took a moment but Nagasawa realized that Applehort said the play in Japanese. Applehort smiled as he saw the excitement in his young wide-receiver. It didn’t stop there. The coaches and other players were telling him stuff in Japanese. Even the media asked him a question in Japanese and the surprise was astounding. The young receiver answered “I did not expect this at all...I kind of feel bad haha. I barely learned much but they learn a lot in my language. I was shocked. But it was very cool.” Clearly surprised and excited the 1st year receiver will probably see time in DSFL this year as the Hawks are pretty stacked all around the board. One of them was calling some of the players by names they had in Spanish for example Towers translates to Torres in Spanish and the j in Jonathan is silent. So the other players took to calling JT Honathan Torres. There were many of these jokes and the team took quite the liking to them. Some of the other names were passed around but none more than Honathan Torres. Overall the players really enjoyed themselves, and got to know each other a little better through the jokes. Unfortunately, the name has died away and Honathan Torres is back to Jonathan Towers. Another fun activity in the luchadores camp was trying to find a name for their stellar defense. Back in season 7 of the DSFL the Luchadores had their defense nicknamed 'cuidad de sack' which translates to city of sacks. The new Luchadores are still brain storming a nick name for their new defense and possible ultimini winning team. Although they do not yet have one, there have been a few names tossed around. Look forward to this stellar defense having some fun with possibly a nickname 200 (S11) - PT 1 - Training Camp High jinx - iamslm22 - 10-18-2018 The Baltimore Hawks locker room is probably the greatest locker room of any sport in the entire world, it is certainly better than the smelly boys in the new orleans second line and it is obviously better than any other losers, because the hawks won the title in the S10 season with the best record of any team in NSFL history, losing only one game (and it was on the road) and we managed to do it without multis. So in training camp when we welcomed a ton new rookies there were many things that were done to haze the rookies in funny ways. There was one rookie who we didn't haze, and that's Dan Schneider. My guy is a 300 pound creeper who has no business being near a football field until you realize that he is actually a very good safety. Some how again you would think that he would be a defensive lineman or something, but no he is a star safety in the DSFL with a chance. Anyway the other guys were all pranked and hazed, we had Kwame Mbanefo, Yulic Nagasawa, Jaylin Hobbs and all the rest. The baltimore hawks were certainly having a fun time in training camp and are feeling great about their prospect of competing in the NSFL in S11. We feel good. 221 (S11) - PT 1 - Training Camp High jinx - JKortesi81 - 10-18-2018 PBE PT (S11) - PT 1 - Training Camp High jinx - PigSnout - 10-18-2018 There was a pranked played in the Pythons' locker room during training camp this year. There was a surprise when the players came back into the locker room after one of the first practices of the summer. When Errol Maddox opened his locker after practice, he was surprised to see it filled with snakes. There were both rubber toy snakes and some actual live snakes as well. When he looked around, he saw that he was not alone as everybody else on the team likewise had a locker filled with snakes. Luckily, the snakes were all harmless so nobody was hurt and it was easy to clean up the mess and get rid of the snakes. However, the question still remained of who was responsible. Every player had snakes in their locker. Does this mean that it was not done by a player or that the player who did it put snakes in his own locker to cover it up? Perhaps this was done by the coaching staff in order to surprise the players and keep them on their toes? Or perhaps a player from a rival team snuck in during practice and did this to throw the Pythons players off? At this point nobody knows, and it's possible they'll never find out who was truly responsible. Either way, this added some excitement and a bonding experience early on as the Pythons got back into action to prepare for the coming season. Quote:242 Words |
