Laziness Or Cheating?: My Response - YoungTB - 10-22-2018

As a lot of people already said in this thread: Labeling your updates better would have avoided this whole mess. Each I time I saw you fucking up I messaged Bovo so he can handle it. I gotta say after the 3rd time I was pretty pissed how this could happen and thought that you might just not be fucking up but deliberately trying to sneak in some more TPE.

In my 2 IRL years as an Updater in various sim leagues I have never seen such a thing happen.

Thanks for the input. Just to be clear with you and the other updaters, I'm not calling for you guys to be punished and I'm not blaming you for this mess. All I've been saying is that I'm not the only one at fault here, which is 100% true. So you can see why I feel this punishment is way too harsh.

Secondly, I know that for the past month I've been less diligent in labeling my PTs. But to be honest, I didn't think it was a problem nor was I ever told that it was a problem. I had never been told by any of my updaters that my update threads were bad up until now. Keep in mind that this is my first sim league I've ever been in, and for the most part, I've been doing my update threads the same way I've always been doing them since joining. This is why the idea of an update template is so appealing to me, especially as a new sim league player as a whole. When I first joined, I was pretty overwhelmed and didn't quite understand the idea of updating and such, so I kinda had to teach myself and overlook other update threads to understand what I'm supposed to be doing every week, and again, I thought my update threads were okay. If they are so bad, then at least let me know so that I can fix them.

You state that after the third time, you had your doubts that these were mere mistakes and thought that I was deliberately sneaking more TPE into my updates. Why would I repeatedly double claim when told to stop if I was actually cheating? Even then, if I was deliberately trying to sneak TPE into my updates with posting links twice in my posts like I was doing, how is that such a problem? This should be something that's easily detectable, if any updaters had doubts with my updates, it takes a very minuscule amount of time to just open up the links and check if there are any doubles. Why am I getting punished for these mistakes when they made absolutely no difference to my player, and were spotted immediately?

When you make a "mistake" consistently after being warned multiple times, we have no choice but to punish you for it.

Did this mistake alter my player in any way whatsoever? Did this mistake harm my team, the league, or anything in between? No, it did not.

The only crimes I committed, if you could even call them that, was give the updaters a bit of inconvenience and set up my update pages lazily. That's all I did.

The double claims were spotted immediately and were not put in to the sim, meaning that any of the extra TPE I accidentally claimed was not applied. You know this, but decide to punish me for it anyway even though I didn't do anything that would affect the sim. To fine me a whole year's worth of salary AND 16 TPE for simply annoying the update team is ludicrous.

@YoungTB (on mobile so easier to tag than just quote a bunch of text lol) we are actually about to roll out a tool that helps with automating updates a bit.... it’s been in the works for a while but we’ve admittedly been slow in rolling it out. Should be out sometime this week... hopefully it’ll help us avoid stuff like this in the future

Awesome. I for one will be looking forward to it.

Kolbe thinking the HO is being too harsh.

Bear in mind, that for Westfield, I only wanted a penalty of 50% of the attempted gain. This is 100% of the attempted gain, plus a 6m dollar penalty. Again, I do get the logic given that this wasn't a one time mistake, and you can see this is not among my more passionate disagreements, but that's why I said it.

DSFL updates get paid less than NSFL updaters. I find that ridiculous since they usually have to update twice the amount of users + deal with sim league newbies who don’t know how to update. Besides, at any time no given DSFL team is “tanking” like Philadelphia with only 3-5 active updaters on the actual roster.

Although you're right this is a completely different issue lol
