(S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - Muford - 02-22-2019 I’ve got a few favorite memories in this league. Being drafted by San Jose in Season 2 was pretty huge, to be taken in the first round without really knowing much of the league, nor people knowing me as a user was huge. Then, on Poopsie, being taken First Overall to show @`To12143` that I am better than him once and for all was another great memory for me. I’ve met some great people along the way, I talk to @ErMurazor damn near every day, and I also talk to @ckroyal92 quite frequently. Same with @`To12143`, I didn’t really know him much before getting on the same team in San Jose, but I’d say he’s a pretty swell person. You can’t forget the great days in NOLA with @Beaver and the Snek @speculadora. Getting my first title there with @`BayleyIsland` and @tlk742 is pretty special as well. God, there have been so many memories in basically the two years here it’s hard to narrow it down. I could go on and on about the friendships I’ve made, and the expanding to other leagues to find even more friends like @karl and some others from the SHL. I’d say overall, these past two years have been pretty great. (207 words) (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - PSanchez55 - 02-22-2019 I was hesitant to join this league. I didn't want anything to interfere with being a top earner in the PBE. Finally, I made the leap. I remember messaging the general discord early in the morning asking what positions were in need. After learning that defensive talent was needed, I thought for a few minutes and Logan Lejune was born. I did what I could early on, but missed the mock draft. (A great embarrassment.) Eventually I tuned into the DSFL draft hoping my PBE activity would influence my draft stock. Due to the super deep DSFL class, and the fact that I hadn't shown so much in the NSFL activity wise, I was left undrafted until the 6th round. Thus begin my season long effort to build my draft stock. Money was hard to come by. I wasn't able to purchase the equipment I desired to push me to the TPE levels of the elite prospects. I listened eagerly to the draft stream wanting to hear my name. (But also knowing I would probably go second round to COL). Of course I got drafted to Colorado, compared to Falconi, and the rest is history. I tried and failed to win ROTY, and somehow became a GM. Thanks NSFL (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - caltroit_red_flames - 02-23-2019 My favorite thing about NSFL is all the friends that I have made since joining. When I was only in the SHL I still had a lot of friends, but joining the NSFL expanded the group of people that I know in sim leagues by a lot. Namely @Bzerkap, @iseedoug, @Sweetwater, @Muford, @ckroyal92 and @pazuzu. Of course I know a ton more people from the NSFL, please don't feel bad if you weren't mentioned! San Jose specifically has encompassed me in the in their blanket of friendship. Probably 3 times a week at least 3 or 4 of us are chilling in discord voice chat playing games and talking about life. Considering that I moved to an entirely new city in an entirely new state where I don't have any family or irl friends with just my girlfriend to hang out with outside of work this has been a huge part of what makes the days from being nothing but eat, sleep, work. So thanks to all of you for making San Jose and the NSFL a fun place to be. Let's finally get the Ultimus victory for San Jose this season, and hopefully a couple more after it too! Love you all <3 (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - PigSnout - 02-23-2019 The NSFL will always have a special feeling for me as it is the first sim league I joined. I hadn't heard of sim leagues before I saw a post about the NSFL during its initial Reddit recruitment when the league was first opening. I didn't know anybody from the league when I first joined so I didn't make much of a name for myself before the opening draft. I ended up falling to the 17th round before getting drafted by the Colorado Yeti with the 99th overall pick. It was fun getting to come into the league with a mission to prove myself after falling so far in the draft. Once I got used to the league I was able to develop Boss Tweed and it was fun to get to see him develop from a late round steal into a hall of famer, which is probably one of the coolest stories I'll ever have with one of my sim league players. I enjoy getting to actually watch the games in the NSFL rather than just seeing the box scores and getting to tune in a few times a week to see my player in action. The NSFL introduced me to sim leagues and has provided been a lot of fun for me so far and will hopefully continue to be a lot of fun in the future. Quote:229 Words (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - manicmav36 - 02-23-2019 The NSFL was my first ever sim league, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m a fairly active member of the PBE community as well (which is a great league in it’s own right despite being based around the slowest sport known to man), but something about this league just keeps me locked in. Maybe it’s the sport (I spend more time watching and reading about football than any other sport), maybe it’s the people, maybe it was the success of my first player (Owen Taylor, GOAT RB) and first team (caw caw!), or maybe it’s our busted ass sim that keeps everyone guessing and makes things interesting. Well, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that it was the community that keeps me here. I was blessed to be drafted by the Baltimore Hawks and into a locker room filled with some really great people. Slm, raven, 37th, and barry all standout in my mind that made being a part of the Hawks so great (and everyone we added along the way), and in turn kept us so successful for so long. But time marches on, and things change. 37th is now GM of the hated Philadelphia Liberty (although slightly less hated now because of him), raven is a rookie awaiting his new home, barry is in Arizona, and slm returned to our old stomping ground. Although I don’t think I’ll ever be able to capture again how truly special that locker room was, that won’t stop me from trying, be it in Yellowknife or elsewhere. (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - Bigred1580 - 02-23-2019 Having only been in the league for about 2 months and not even playing outside the DSFL, I haven’t had too much time to acquire a lot of memories or gotten to know people that well. I had never done a sim league before this and it is my only league. I actually don’t see myself joining another league anytime soon anyway. I like to do one thing at a time, and when I do that thing, go fully all in. Having a wife, full-time job, and trying to obtain a master’s degree, doesn’t leave me a lot of time to go fully all in on a great number of things. Having said that, this league already does mean a lot to me. It allows an escape from the busy world, and lets me join a welcoming community. I first heard about this league from @manicmav36. We have been friends for a long time, and when I moved away, it became harder to keep in touch. Whenever we did, he would always try talking me into this sim league thing he was doing. He was actually quite annoying about it to be honest, borderline obsessed. I heard all of Owen Taylor’s highlights from afar. Guess he had to brag to someone right. Eventually, like after over a year, he got me at the right time and I finally agreed to join. I immediately understood what he saw in this place, and I’ve grown to feel the same way. Plus, it has helped us to keep in contact more than we have in years. Manic (it’s weird having to call you manic when I know your real name, lol), thanks for getting me hooked and talking me through all the many questions I keep throwing your way. You’re the best! I’d like to thank nunc for picking me up and showing me the ropes and the rest of the Lucha LR. Numbers and the rest of the werewolf guys for inviting me and letting me be a fill-in even though our first round was a giant clusterfk. The Wraiths for taking a chance on me not knowing they had a future RotY on hand. Looking forward to finally playing in the NSFL next season. Code: 373 (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - goilers - 02-23-2019 The NSFL is a very interesting league for me because before I joined I wasn’t a fan of football and had only been to one Edmonton Eskimos game before and didn’t even know what was going on. Ever since joining, I have been following sims when I can and I am finally learning positions and different terms for the game. It is been fun to follow and I am actually really excited to go to some more Edmonton Eskimos game and actually know what is going on. Aside from real life I’ve met some fantastic people, as soon as I joined I was entered into the draft and soon drafted by the Portland Pythons, I only spent a season there but we had a really good team and the locker room was great. I than got drafted to the Yellowknife Wraiths where I met some of my favorite people on the site are, the locker room is good and everyone on the team is great. One of my favorite memories was this past season where my player Josh Parker is actually starting to make plays and becoming an important player for the team. Hopefully with more training I am able to becoming one of the best wide receivers. Code: 209 Words (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - CDub2 - 02-23-2019 I've always been a huge supporter of the NSFL. It is a great league with some awesome league with awesome people. To be honest though, I wish the NSFL free agency market was bigger. It seems everyone is a lifer with their team that drafted them. And I'm no better than the rest, I've never been a free agent, but that's because I've always felt welcome and loved the places I was in. PDX and Bzerkap were my first GMs, in Portland and Yellowknife respectively. Those guys are absolute legends in this league. Why would I want to move anywhere else? And from there, I just because part of the team and there was no real incentive to move. As it was my first sim league experience, it was nice to spend so much time with such a successful organization. They pay me well, added me to the war room early on, and have included me in everything. Even though both of my first GMs have more or less moved on in the world, their impact on my player and my experience in this league is profound. If I recreate, I hope to one day be reunited with one of them. I appreciate them and all the other great former Pythons and Wraiths that have made Cameron Taylor's career a pretty successful one. 224 (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - Beaver - 02-23-2019 Without a doubt my favorite thing about the National Simulation Football League which is a simulation football league hosted on a set of forums where you take control of a player and play out a career and do stuff like negotiate contracts and test free agency and get traded and improve your skills and the whole nine yards and it's pretty fun and cool and especially retiring which is when you call it quits on your career which of course is a super personal decision usually but in the National Simulation Football League it's a communal decision where if your retirement is deemed to be unworthy you're not allowed to retire and it's a whole scandal but the Las Vegas Legion way back in the day were like yeah fuck you National Simulation Football League we'll retire when we want and like 7 players retired at once which caused an absolute meltdown in the league and the retirements were overturned and the users were attacked maliciously and that entire episode was my favorite part of the National Simulation Football League because I am 100% opposed to people having fun or autonomy over their player so I'm glad that Head Office and the league in general ridiculed these free thinkers mercilessly and forced the players to continue playing. Code: 217 words (S13) - PT 3 - NSFL Appreciation Week - Moosecop - 02-23-2019 The NSFL is the second sim league I ever joined, about a month after randomly coming across the PBE in the Mets subreddit discord channel, and I've had a great experience my entire time here. The big thing that sucked me in with PBE is the live sims with a fantastic visual aspect and NSFL, while not quite on the same level due to the poopy sim engine we use, hooked me as well. From the start I really enjoyed interacting with the rest of the league for my DSFL games, the fantastic draft presentation, and now my NSFL matchups. It's a ton of fun to have that live interaction with the rest of the people in the league while games are going on just like if it was real football. As for favorite people, all the people that welcomed me into the league when I first joined the Marshals back at the very end of Season 7: BW, roly, run, ramero, youngtb, and everyone else that was in that locker room was a lot of fun to talk to and always ready to help out a noob like myself with updating or the league in general. Favorite memory would have to be getting drafted 2nd overall by the Outlaws back in Season 9. They were at the top of my list of teams I wanted to end up on and I'm really glad run and roly decided to waste their pick on me. |
