Back in S2, the only team that had a >50% active OL was the Outlaws, and their highest TPE OL was a multi. The S1 Baltimore OL was completely bots iirc, and it forced them to spend three consecutive picks on OL in a draft that was every bit as good as S15. Those three OL were all reaches, and only one of them worked out (it was slm). But my point is there are soooooo many examples of insufficient interest at OL. The examples keep coming, too. Every single human OL except some from this class have either switched away or gone inactive.

The Disrespect. It was me and 4 inactives in season one in Baltimore.

Otherwise I agree with you. Being OL sucks

I mean they were definitely worth it. But only because they lucked into the guy that would go top 3 in a redraft. It's just an illustration of how desperate teams were for any OL. And @Muford I didn't forget about you, but weren't you claimed mid-season off waivers?

I'm gonna chime in here a little late. I don't see exactly what problem abolishing user-made OL will solve.

I understand that we're all for player retention here, but how many OL go inactive compared to other positions? Actually, how many people choose to play OL in their first year anyway?

There's already an option to position switch. If a player is actually interested in the league but not enjoying OL, they switch. That doesn't hurt the league in any way. If they go inactive, they probably would have been going inactive at some point anyway regardless of what position they chose. Plenty of players in all the other positions seem to go IA as well.

I'm going to sound a little harsh here, but if a newbie comes in here and says "I want to be an offensive lineman" and is surprised when, news flash, it isn't a very fun position, then I'm sorry but that's on them. I mean, if anything put an idiot-proof disclaimer in bold telling people the risks and pitfalls of becoming an OL when they go to create. Tell it how it is, and maybe this hypothetical rookie thinks better of their decision and stays active at a different position. I personally would never want to be an OL, but I think taking away that choice is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

This is like when your Dad brings you back to your Mom’s house and they get into an argument about you so you go to your room but you can still hear them.
