I could also see GMs drafting players without agents over players with agents down the road because a lot of those with will probably be asking for top dollar. Fair, personally I like the contract talks and wouldn't go with an agent for that reason, but I hadn't considered it effecting your draft stock. *A New Agency to NSFL? - White Cornerback - 05-11-2019 (05-11-2019, 11:54 AM)TomHanks Wrote:Is there any downside to having an agent then? You're getting positive media pieces written about you and someone to negotiate for you who knows this league about as well as you can. You have to talk to slm *A New Agency to NSFL? - iamslm22 - 05-11-2019 (05-11-2019, 08:04 AM)TomHanks Wrote:Fair, personally I like the contract talks and wouldn't go with an agent for that reason, but I hadn't considered it effecting your draft stock. Hiring SLM doesn't preclude you from running your own negotiations if you wish. Also - being repped by me would only improve draft stock *A New Agency to NSFL? - SDCore - 05-11-2019 SHOW ME THE MONEY! *A New Agency to NSFL? - Jiggly_333 - 05-11-2019 (05-11-2019, 03:35 AM)ADwyer87 Wrote:time to make a CBA so your job is super confusingThis please. I want to be in charge of the players' union. I actually have a copy of a real CBA that I can use to make the NSFL CBA from and make it incredibly confusing. *A New Agency to NSFL? - ADwyer87 - 05-11-2019 (05-11-2019, 05:54 AM)TomHanks Wrote:Is there any downside to having an agent then? This is a fair point, but there's also no upside. Were contract talks with you and NOLA difficult? Did you end up unhappy with the results? The next contracts are going to be even easier for you, especially now that you have that GM salary. You'll take max length with min money. The only time an agent could be useful is for free agency, and that doesn't come around often. Although I'm definitely signing up with slm's agency so I can ask for a min contract more fancily. *A New Agency to NSFL? - iamslm22 - 05-11-2019 (05-11-2019, 06:23 PM)124715 Wrote:This is a fair point, but there's also no upside. Many players in the NSFL and pressure by their teams into taking team friendly contracts that they don't wanna take. They are given 3 year deals with either no options or just team options. Players who want to be able to have freedom and don't necessarily want to be the bad guy are taking team friendly offers because of this pressure. This is why SLM is necessary. *A New Agency to NSFL? - 124715 - 05-11-2019 (05-11-2019, 06:27 PM)iamslm22 Wrote:Many players in the NSFL and pressure by their teams into taking team friendly contracts that they don't wanna take. Did you ever pressure someone into taking a min contract? I generally feel like NSFL teams are pretty accommodating. Like Armstrong - he said he wanted to buy equipment, OCO said "ok" and threw money at him. They didn't ask him to write media or something. I can understand the FA part of agents, and maaaaaaybe the pre-draft part of agents. I just don't think negotiations are the best example of an agent's role. |
