RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - dogwoodmaple - 10-26-2020 Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and we fully embrace the s p o o k y s z n at the Maple house. I'll definitely be spending my time watching as many scary movies as possible. Horror is my favorite movie genre and there's nothing better on a crisp October night than ordering some pizza, watching some horrifying flicks, and vegging out on the couch. Whether it's the old-school Halloween series, new remakes, or even campy B-movies, I love them all. But there'll be a new wrinkle this Halloween season - this year, I'm throwing an enormous Halloween bash for all the DSFL rookies at my house in Norfolk. It'll be complete with a costume contest, spooky/gory baking challenge, and pop-up haunted house in my backyard. Rumor has it that the head office has all volunteered to be the scarers in the Haunted House and will be seeing which rookies they can spook the most. The theme of the haunted house will be science experiments gone wrong, so expect some sinister surgeons and terrifying human experiments go wrong. As far as the party itself goes, I'm planning on dressing up as Frankenstein's monster, complete with stick-on metal bolts, and baking a meatloaf in the shape of a human head, so I'm confident I'll win both the costume and the baking challenge. The entire Halloween season is all about the spook, delicious treats, and spending time with friends and family, so I'm definitely checking all the boxes this season. 250 words RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - charlit - 10-26-2020 Chambers used to be the biggest fan of haunted houses. Back in high school, he and his friends would rent a warehouse and set it up to be as scary as possible. This would include making it pitch black when people entered, decorating the place with bloody, disassembled legs and arms, and scaring people when they came in. The week before Halloween, Chambers always helped hang up flyers around school inviting everyone to come. Over the years their haunted warehouse became wildly popular, attracting over 100 people every year. The highlight of the haunted warehouse was the killer who would chase patrons around whilst holding two knives. Chambers, being the fastest of his friends, would be the one to fulfill this role. During his junior year of high school, he tried to get out of this role due to being sore from football. Nevertheless, his friends convinced him to do it anyway, arguing even if he were just jogging, he would still be faster than everyone else. That Halloween night, he found this to be accurate as he chased around terrified people and didn’t even have to sprint. This changed, however, when he started chasing someone dressed up as Yoda. Yoda was fast, and Chambers eventually decided to sprint to catch up to them. When Chambers finally reached them, he tripped and found himself hurtling towards the floor. This Yoda had stuck out the cane they were holding, and it was too dark for Chambers to notice. After Chambers gingerly got up, the Yoda had vanished. Chambers injured his knee during the fall and was done chasing people around for the night. After getting chewed out by his head coach the next day, Chambers decided he was done with haunted houses. Today, Chambers prefers to take things easy by staying home to pass out candy. RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - Crodyman - 10-26-2020 While he was attending Dartmouth College, Wasrabi Gleel used to host a haunted house every Halloween. He called it, “Gleel’s House of Ghouls!,” and participants would be lead through the house in groups of five. Various schlocky decorations such as fake spider webs and fog machines were always scattered through the narrow hallways, and periodically the participants would stumble onto a horror scene being played out by members of the Dartmouth College football team: Macabre autopsies on headless bodies, werewolves chomping on living victims, and right near the end, Wasrabi Gleel would burst from a closet wielding a prop chainsaw, dressed from head to toe in his gameday gear--only now stained crimson with fake blood. The group would be chased to the back entrance of the house where a photographer waits ready to take their picture and offer them the bucket of full size candy bars. This year, however, Gleel will be spending Halloween binge-watching some of his favorite horror movies with some of his Minnesota teammates, excited to pitch them the idea of next halloween doing a Minnesota Grey Ducks house of horrors. Bust out the red food coloring and drop some in the CHOCCY MILK, because next year the Duck’s are going to slay! 206 words RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - Tylar - 10-26-2020 SHL Affiliate RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - Frick_Nasty - 10-26-2020 SHL Affiliate RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - Bayley - 10-26-2020 SHL PT - Panda RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - GuitarMaster116 - 10-26-2020 For this Halloween, I plan on doing what I normally do for most Halloweens, hanging out and watching a bunch of classic Halloween movies, and going to some Halloween parties and chilling out. But, this year I think I may do something a little different with some of my teammates. Since we are the Luchadores, we basically celebrate Halloween all year by being dressed up like a Luchador all year long. So I think we should all come together as a team and create a short horror movie revolving around Tijuana and Luchadors. Maybe creating a new slasher film having one of the Luchador players or someone just dressed as a player and they go around the town pounding down tacos while trucking through and killing a bunch of people. We definitely want to try and get Jack Black on board to pay homage to one of the greatest Luchador of all time. What better way to pay homage to Jack Black and Nacho Libre than having him inside our Tijuana horror movie and him being the killer, am I right? So yeah, that is what I want to try to do this year for Halloween. Hopefully I can get some teammates on board with this idea and not make them look at me weirdly. RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - bjkman - 10-26-2020 Halloween is the perfect time to tell everyone about the Kiwi Kicker's extensive movie collection. And while I am not the biggest scary movie buff, I can absolutely appreciate some bad and good classics. First off, the best way to watch a movie will always be with physical media. Say you want to watch one of your favorite movies on Amazon Prime or Netflix and you load it up and it's not there or your internet goes out! No worries with physical media, your favorite movie will always be just a grab away! I recently picked up three great movie collections just in time for Halloween! I spent just around $250 for over 50 enjoyable "Scary" movies just in time for the Halloween season. 1st off, I picked up the Puppet Master collection, 12 movies of little nazi puppets killing a bunch of people, how cool is that! Next, I picked up the Friday the 13th Ultimate Collection. It came with some cool posters I could hang in my room as well! And lastly, I picked up the complete Universal Monster Movie collection of the original 30 monster movies that started the story of the Wolfman, Dracula, and The Creature From The Black Lagoon. So many great movies, and so many great monsters! Even before going to the Pros, however, Halloween really didn't excite him. His favorite holidays were Christmas and Thanksgiving, as he loved his mom's cooking during those holidays: She made great Turkeys and Briskets. In fact, that's part of why he disliked Halloween so much; his mom didn't cook one of his more favorite meals, she cooked one of his least favorite: Pork Loin. As a child who was generally trying to stay healthy, the plentiful candy didn't do enough to make up for that low starting point. So, nowadays while much of the league is busy chowing on unhealthy snacks, he trains harder, and hopes to perform even better in the games to follow. That being said, he does enjoy a good haunted house from time to time, and will often go to one on one of the days leading up to Halloween, when it's less crowded and he has less chance to be recognized. As far as his house is concerned, he does the classic Guy Who Doesn't Care About Halloween thing and leaves a big bowl of candy, along with a sign saying to only take 2 pieces. He's not under any belief that even half the people who visit follow that direction. RE: (S25) - PT 4 - Spooky Scary Season - Number 82 - 10-27-2020 In a manta ray costume by the beach ![]() |
