RE: (S29) Ultimus Week - IceBear32 - 06-29-2021 11. Rivalries As an extremely competitive person there is nothing better to me than a good rivalry. A good rivalry sets that stage for the star players to excel. Some stand up to the challenge while other crumble under the pressure. A rivalry just being out an extra level of energy. This can also be great for some teams who were having a below average season. Maybe they won’t be making the ultimus but at least they have those one are two games that will still mean something special. The chance to play spoiler. I believe a rivalry is something that grows over time. Often something that is organic. Either the teams always meeting up for the opportunity for a championship or another team playing spoiler over the years. In my short career in the DSFL and on the Minnesota Greyducks, I have seen that our natural rivalry has been and always will be the Norfolk Seawolves. What a dumb name. During my time in Minnesota we have had the upper hand when it has come to expectations, but I have had to walk away from a Norfolk game with a loss. This is literally the worst thing that could ever happen to a duck player or our fans. An organization in shambles pulls off the upset, come on sim! Luckily, this season we have been able to handle them and handle them quite easily. In the midst of finding a new GM Norfolk didn’t stand a chance again the ever-growing success of the ducks. Now if the rivalry wasn’t already there, Mr. Negs (former QB for the Minnesota Greyducks) became the GM of the Norfolk Seawolves. RIP Negs. Once a duck, has officially gone to the dark side. From what I hear this is likely what he deserves for the pain he put some ducks fans through, but this is just what I heard. Luckily, I was late to the party with Negs under center. Who knows what could have been Negs… Me, you, together…. Raising that ultimini trophy. But choices were made and we shall see where our paths take us. The last leg of this heated rivalry is a rivalry that stems from long, long, ago. And that is the competitive spirited Icebear vs “butchie” or Sal Ami. A rivalry like no other. With the chance of mending that feud and joining their talents together on the ducks, destiny showed her will and put Salamander Ami on the Norfolk Seawolves. From twitter feuds to backhanded media comments, this rivalry will remain lit until Sally finally hangs up the cleats and calls it a “Career”. 435 words 20. Sal Ami – Scouting Report Sal Ami, is a late comer into the Season 30 draft class. With little to no scouting DSFL teams were recruited to make their decisions based on not much more than his name. Luckily, he was recruited by myself and had that going for him. Now, with a season under his belt and prepping himself for the ISFL draft, where does he stand? Sal Ali was 3rd String tight end for the Norfolk Seawolves. He is currently a 61 overall with 200 TPE to wrap up the first season (Because they are not in the playoffs because they are Norfolk). Sal has been a max earn since his time in the DSFL. He was put at a slight disadvantage against his classmates with the late start to the season, but this has only given him more drive to make sure he is on top of his training. Additionally Sal has been labeled as a team player who is willing to move positions to best help his team and his draft stock in next weeks draft. The biggest questions mark going forward with Sal is how high is this mans potential? The stats may have not been there this year but with a year under his belt and proper training from both DSFL and ISFL coaches I believe this kids has what it takes. 223 Words 27: Best Branding I’m going to break this out into two separate awards. Both the DSFL and ISFL have some great branding and team recognition. I believe that there are a handful of teams that could use some pointers as well. This is for a different discussion on a different day. For the DSFL I believe that the top tier of well branded teams goes to Kansas City, London, and Dallas. I believe that out of these three teams that London does a great job of branding and would take the honor as best branded team in the league. When I think London, I think gold! Coming off a ultimini championship, London and gold will always have some sort of link in my mind. For the ISFL there are a handful of teams that I think could be deserving. Of course I believe the best color combo in the league is Honolulu with that blue and gold, but I have trouble giving us the award because I can barely say the entire team name without stumbling. Not the best but I want to give a shout out to the Hawks and their current rebranding, very clean logo, but not enough for my top spot. I think based on creativity, colors, and logo, my choice would have to be the Berlin Fire Salamanders for my top spot. 223 words RE: (S29) Ultimus Week - Jimi64 - 06-29-2021 Task 21. I have mixed feelings on the new sim. Probably my biggest gripe with it is that it's so much more difficult to keep track of stats during the game. The old sim would have stats constantly displayed, as well as a history of past plays. Real time stats are constantly fading in and out in this presentation between individual stats and team stats. They are pretty difficult to read regardless. In addition, I think the sim moves way too past, and I think simmers have sped the games up since we started the transition. I know the games take longer on the new sim, but I can't imagine being a new player and watching this sim speed on by. I wouldn't mind if the presentations were longer, and I'm not sure if others would. You can easily check when your game is being played on that day, and you see it's not an early one, you can always leave and come back if that's what you're interested in. There's a chance I change my mind on this if I watched all those games at slower speeds, but it really does seem like an experience easier to stomach. I'm disappointed that the logic of the sim hasn't improved. An ability to find the worth in going for it on 4th down is a poor representation of the attitudes of modern coaches applying current analytical studies. There are numerous times the sim does things that make little sense, but if it's something like running on third and long I'm only a bit frustrated, because I do understand the sim runs percentages for play calling. However, some of the decision making is just awful in context. My stats also took a big dip with the new sim, but I'm not really bothered by that. As for positives, I absolutely love the trait system. Although I'm not exactly sure how much an effect its actually having on the sim (I certainly couldn't pinpoint improvements from them), the variety in player builds is lovely. It's fun to see players decide whether or not they should take a trait and when. Being able to watch passes actually be thrown was a hyped up feature, and when there is a big passing play I love it. However, sometimes it simply doesn't make sense. The ball will sometimes be thrown seemingly incredibly inaccurately and then snap back to the receiver for a completion. However, on other plays, the quarterback will throw to a wide open player, and the ball falls incomplete. Now this in a vacuum is fine, as drops happened, or maybe the pass was a little off, or the ball was slippery. I can imagine and role play in my mind what happened. However, reading that the pass was defended by someone 2 miles from the stadium bothers me. If a pass is defended, I would like to see the defender in the area. It's hard to say which sim was better. I think part of me wants DDSPF16 back, but I am happy with the changes that came with 21. 515 Words Task 22. Perhaps a good halftime show for the Ultimus would be to take all banned users from this past season onto a stage and have everyone throw food at them. It could be a cathartic experience that allows the sim league the opportunity to let go of the events of the past year. It could be like New Year's Eve, in which it always feels like we are moving into a new era. Following this raucous event, we would move into a league wide talent show. I would of course show off my infamous juggling ability, while a variety of other acts would perform as well, such as Matt Cross's opera singing and Peter Patterson's tap dancing. A panel of judges would be made up of GMs of all teams. The winner of the talent show would get a coupon for a free equipment purchase next the next season. The halftime show would end with all the talent show participants running on stage and leading the crowd in a song and dance of "YMCA" except changed to "ISFL." All of these events would essentially derail and delay the start of the second half by at least an hour. Of course, this could be expected, as the Ultimus is more of an event than a game. It would take a long time to clear all the talent show contestants off the field, but they would eventually be led away by handlers with carrots on sticks with, strangely enough, "free TPE" written on the veggies. 252 words Task 29. https://probaseballexperience.jcink.net/index.php?showtopic=20324&st=30&# PBE affiliate PT RE: (S29) Ultimus Week - AL_GRINGO - 06-29-2021 Task 29 - PBE Welfare RE: (S29) Ultimus Week - Reno - 06-29-2021 Task 16 The draft is always a wonderful time of the year, endless Google forms being chucked at you to fill out and get ignored by, GMs talking about the windows of contention that all seem to overlap, it’s great. To all of the GMs out there, I have a few things that I can bring to you as to why you should draft me. First of all, I’ll bring some level of activity to the clubhouse. It might not be the most hyper consistent activity, but I’ll be there lurking and checking for memes and similar most days of the week. Second, I bring an intense love of Taylor Swift to the clubhouse. As Bayley can confirm from my time in Chicago, Taylor Swift just brings teams together and overall makes them perform better. With me singing the lyrics to “exile” in the clubhouse at 2AM by myself when I’m unable to sleep, the team will know I am committed. Third of all, I earn and I play defense. Draft classes have so many people wanting to play offense because it’s the sexiest position and while that’s true for football (only because you don’t have a goalie), defense is what wins championships. Plus I earn pretty well and unless my health craps out on me I’ll stay active for the future. Task 25 Well one of the reasons that I went cornerback was I knew there was always a demand for it, regardless of how many players are in the league at this time. That being said, if I did have to pick a different position that wasn’t cornerback I’d go to cornerback lite and move to free safety. There’s a few reasons for this. One, I like interceptions, interceptions are really fun to get. So being a free safety instead of a cornerback offers me the opportunity to get more interceptions every season and become the next Ed Reed levels of ball hawking abilities. Second, while there is some level of tackling to be expected from the cornerback position, they don’t usually get those highlight hit stick level hits that safeties tend to get. I’m talking Brian Dawkins flying at the offense to swing them to the ground to stop the touchdown, those plays you see on Sportsnet every night. Third, you’re basically a swiss army knife at a safety. Cornerbacks tend to be limited to defend pass and pick ball off, and while fun options, there are other great aspects. Blitzing from behind the linebackers up the gut, roaming the field from zone to zone instead of locking down your one specific guy per game, it’s a constant shuffle and I love it. Task 29 SHL PT #2 Affiliate Task 23 ![]() RE: (S29) Ultimus Week - Thor - 06-29-2021 19. If your player had a show starring them, what would the plot be? Graphic Option: Create the cover art for your player’s show Ken would have a show focused primarily on his escapades and adventures in the outback. Have you ever seen Russel Coight's All Aussie Adventures? If you haven't go and watch it now, then you'll have a decent idea of where Ken would be starting with his premise. While exploring the country Ken would be taking on jobs within the local industries to see how difficult they are and whether or not he'd be good at them, spoiler alert: he's pretty bad at most of them. For the purpose of his travels Ken has made his own campervan out of an old mercedes van, and given his absolute lack of knowledge it has many, many flaws which will expose themselves while camping out. One night, Ken discovers that he never waterproofed the vehicle after installing features on the roof leading to a miserable and wet night out on the road. Ken also forgot to install a kitchen of any description into his travel vehicle, so is usually seen stopping off at local eateries along the journey to try a wide variety of local cuisines - the twist here is the producers will be ordering on his behalf and he wont know what he's eating until it arrives in front of him. 20. Make a scouting report for any of the ISFL or DSFL draftees. Show their stats, abilities, TPE, or highlights. Written or graphic option available. Ken Oath is a new wide receiver going into the S31 class and entering into the DSFL draft this upcoming season. While there is a large amount of Wide Receivers entering the league this season in the S31 class, many will likely end up changing positions to suit their new teams - and Ken figures to be one who will stay at Wide Receiver and make a significant impact as a high performance player for many seasons to come. Already in his short 4 games in the league as a waiver wire pickup for the Bondi Beach Buccaneers Ken has seen great success, with 100+ yards and two Touchdowns coming to him from Bondi Beach quarterback Dexter Zaylren. Ken has max earner on his TPE and will continue to do so, aiming to be among the class leaders and capped for the DSFL within his first season. Bondi Beach Buccaneers have the first overall pick in this draft containing Ken Oath - Will they utilise it to bring him back to the Beach after a successful stint this season? Or will they forego him for a different prospect and leave another team to pick him up? One thing we think for sure is that he'll be a first round pick, and if he's not then the team drafting him will get first round talent wherever they select him. 21. Now thats three seasons on the new sim. What are your thoughts? Do you think that it is better than DDSPF16? Wow this is a tricky one. Do I think Draft Day Sports Pro Football 2016 is better or worse than Draft Day Sports Pro Football 2020... I don't think that either is better or worse than the other, I believe they're just different kinds of trash simulators. Regardless of whether the switch felt rushed or not fully assessed when it occured, there are a number of problems with the 2020 edition that didn't exist within the 2016 version of the game, namely the time it takes to sim a game and how the play by play is presented. There are bugs that have carried over from 16 to 20 as well, like returns getting stopped on the 1/2yd line frequently or stat tiers that have had to be eliminated through archetype changes. I have a feeling that the complexities of strategising and testing those strategies has caused issues for GMs across the league but fortunately I'm no longer in a position to need to worry about that, and thank goodness for that because I feel as though trying to work out the new metas would absolutely have given me burnout and may have seen me leave the league. All in all the sim change was probably for the better, but hopefully the exercise of moving sim will prepare us to one day move to a sim created by a dev team that actually cares about the product they're delivering. 22. You’re in charge of entertainment for the Ultimus or Ultimini half-time show. What would you do? This is easy, with the relaxed league rules regarding performance enhancing drugs to improve skills and perform better, I'd host a half time competitive performance enhancing drugs administration effort. Every team in the league gets to nominate one player, who will come out onto the field at half time and administer themselves a dose of their preferred performance enhancing drug in the shortest amount of time. While on the face of it this seems like a simple task, what makes it more difficult is the immediate follow up of needing to complete a number of menial and physically intensive tasks. We've got a mini-decathalon set up including things like basic maths problems, rope climb, woodcutting, 100m sprint and a firemands carry of a 60kg bag for 30m at the beginning and end. So far to this date, this competition has seen several heart complications lead to players being hospitalised - but it's worth competing in for the wonderful prize of a movie ticket and free popcorn and drink valued at $75. We have had the league question the validity of this event in the past, and we're sure to see those questions raised continue to exist but as long as there are players taking drugs and pushing their bodies to the limit, the Performance Enhancing Drugs half time competition will continue to push forward into the future. It’s been a long and grueling road for Vincent Sharpei Jr., son of the old Offensive Lineman turned Linebacker Vincent Sharpei, who spent his career with the San Jose Sabercats and the New Orleans Secondline. Vincent Sharpei Jr. knew that he had a lot of work ahead of him to get where he wanted to go. He had such a hill to climb, so to speak, to attempt to start to even fill his father’s shoes. His father was one of the first players in this league, but since he joined late, wasn’t drafted until Season 2. But enough about the old man, we’re here to talk about the son. Vincent Sharpei Jr., who attended college at Notre Dame has finally started to make a name for himself out in Minnesota. He took it quite personally that he fell to the third round of the draft. You have to put that chip on your shoulder, because if you don’t, we already know that no one else is. Vincent Sharpei Jr. had such a rocky road to get to where he is right now, and nothing is going to stop him. He is, without a doubt, one of the best workers in this draft. Vincent Sharpei Jr. has put in so much work, and we aren’t even close to being done. He has put up some great numbers so far, in the regular season for the Minnesota Grey Ducks, putting up 78 catches in 14 games to the tune of 1223 yards, an average of 15.7 and a long of 72 yards to go with tying the league lead in touchdowns at 12. Vincent Sharpei Jr. still was hungry, and he helped the Minnesota Grey Ducks reach the playoffs for the first time in four seasons. That still isn’t enough for him though. He’s hungry for more. He already knows that teammate Moses Malone will most likely win Wide Receiver of the year, and while happy for him, is just another chip on his shoulder. These chips are going to just continue to pile up until you can’t see over them. Vincent Sharpei Jr. is going to take everything personally until he gets where his father was cheated out of, the Hall of Fame. It’s Hall of Fame or die trying for Vincent Sharpei Jr., and he doesn’t plan on dying anytime soon. When you have winning in your blood, you infect everyone else around you, and that’s what Vincent Sharpei Jr. will continue to do until he hangs his cleats up years from now. (424 words) 20. Scouting Report for Vincent Sharpei Jr. Stats – 14 Games Played. 78 Catches. 1223 Yards. 15.7 Average. 72 Long. 12 Touchdowns. TPE Earned at the time of writing this – 254 (Hasn’t Updated Yet) Attributes – 60 Strength, 70 Agility, 89 Speed, 71 Hands, 50 Endurance, 50 Competitiveness Pros: Blood of a Veteran Player who was Borderline Hall of Fame. Fast, Strong and Agile. He has some very good footwork, and knows where to be at the right time. He can bully Cornerbacks off the line and get past them to make some good moves going down the field. Cons: Not the smartest guy on the field, but he tries. On top of that, while his top end speed is good, his endurance is majorly lacking. He continues to improve in certain aspects, but others, not so much. Teams are worried about his weight as well, as he stands at 6’3 and only 205 pounds. Teams wonder where he will fit in their offensive plans. Overall – Not a project pick, but quite possibly one of the best players in this draft. He has a lot of potential ahead of him, and a lot of teams that pass on him will be sorry that they did. Mid to late first round pick projection for Vincent Sharpei Jr. (213 words) RE: (S29) Ultimus Week - Haseo - 06-30-2021 Task 6: Code: 890 words When I first joined the International Simulation Football League, back when it was known as the NSFL, in Season 23, I was still new to sim leagues. I believe the Pro Baseball Experience had just entered Season 20, and I was looking for a football sim league as I am a huge fan of the NFL and football in general. I found the NSFL purely through the affiliate with PBE and thought "you know, I really only have to do one point task a week since I can cross post it with the other league" and that prompted me to create Zack Mouse. Since I was still a newbie, I didn't expect to go high in the DSFL Draft; lo and behold, I didn't even get drafted since I joined after the draft had already started. I was claimed off of waivers by the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers, now located in Bondi Beach, and met my GMs at the time (@scorycory and @Thor). They introduced me to the sim and taught me quite a bit about the sim while I was still active. Sad to say, but it's been over a year since I joined that team and was truly active for two seasons. We even won an Ultimini in Season 26 where I had two interceptions! I believe I don't have the Ultimini award on my profile simply because I was inactive by that point. Shame. ![]() I was drafted by the Sarasota Sailfish in the Season 24 ISFL draft by @Frostbite, who is still leading the team to this day, with the 5th pick of the 3rd round. If I remember correctly, Sarasota was a Season 22 expansion team, so I was very excited to set some defensive records there. Sadly, I never played a down for the team. I went inactive because I had gotten a co-General Manager job over in the PBE and wanted to focus on that. I informed both sets of GMs who wished me nothing but the best. I thank every one of them for being so understanding and allowing me to experience the joys of building a team of my own. Fast forward to the ISFL's Season 28 off-season, and I find myself itching to join the league again after stepping down from my co-GM position in the PBE. I probably should have waited until the off-season but I just wanted to get back in here and contribute that I just went with it. I created Zack DiNozzo, a Tight End out of Ohio State. To no surprise, I had missed the DSFL Draft... AGAIN. I was claimed off of waivers... AGAIN. This time, however, the Norfolk Seawolves picked me up, and I was introduced to a bunch of great people right away such as @SchwarzNarr, @Jimi64, @ConnorM123, @Magnet (BIRDDOGS GO TWEET WOOF), and was even reunited with my good friend @juniped, who I've known since the beginning of quarantine in 2020 via the MLR where he was my coach during the college season. To be honest, the competitor in me wasn't that excited when I saw where Norfolk had finished in Season 28, but I thought "you know, how bad can it be?" The on-field product for Season 28 itself wasn't good. We only won a single game. During that season, however, everyone was so upbeat and having a lot of fun just talking about various things such as games, movies, a book here and there. It just felt like a family. I was even lucky enough to get nominated for the Tight End of the Year award for S28. I didn't win as the eventual co-winners, Chevvy Bronko and Joey Martson, had a much better season than I did, in my opinion. Then came the Season 29 ISFL Draft. I honestly thought I was going to be drafted in the 4th round or later since there is, to this day, such a large gap between myself and the top earners in the S29 draft class. To my surprise, I was picked by the Orange County Otters in the second round. Joining the Otters has been a fun experience as well. @Blasoon and @Memento Mori are great GMs and have given me some really good advice for my future build, along with the rest of the Otters locker room. I was also reunited with Thor to boot! I didn't think I'd pay much attention to the Otters ISFL games this season as I was sent down to the DSFL again since Thor's player, Heath Evans, was still the team's tight end. I was surprised when Thor retired Heep, so now I'm being thrust into the role of TE1 for the Otters starting next season. It's a role I'm excited about and can't wait to contribute as much as I can to the team, and hope I live up to everyone's expectations. Meanwhile, in the DSFL, the Seawolves tripled our win total from S28, and a lot of our games were lost by a single possession. We've made a lot of strides and soon they'll be back in the playoffs. Shame that I won't be on the team when it happens but I'll be cheering from the alumni section! I don't plan on going inactive in the league again. I'm having a lot of fun and I can't wait to see what my player's career has in store for me! :otterdab: RE: (S29) Ultimus Week - Goat_Whisperer - 06-30-2021 19. If your player had a show starring them, what would the plot be? Graphic Option: Create the cover art for your player’s show Blago Kokot is a man of many talents. If he would be a star of some show, I think one interesting option could be to have Kokot try various professions and jobs on camera. Similar to the show ''Dirty Jobs'', but perhaps the show has some culinary and traveling elements to it. Kokot could be a flight attendant, then when he reaches the final destination, he could be a taxi driver, then a restaurant worker, etc. That could be one episode. The next episode could have him try something else. For example, Kokot is a painter or a writer. The point of the show is to have Kokot do the jobs, and also have Kokot interview real people who do these jobs for living, so people at home get some ideas on what the job is like really. Each episode could be around one hour long, so there is plenty of time to also roam around in various cities and bring the ''traveling element'' to the show. Kokot can try different foods and new cultures, etc. To include the online crowd, the failed shots and mistakes from each episode could be uploaded to Youtube with commentary from Kokot and other production members. The actual show is shown on some television channel. 22. You’re in charge of entertainment for the Ultimus or Ultimini half-time show. What would you do? I'm a man of positive energy. If I would be in charge of the entertainment, I would organize some kind of choir performance and encourage the audience to take part by showing the lyrics on a jumbotron. I think something like that would give a lot more than just watching some megastar sing the hits we have all heard a million times. I would of course rely on classics as well but in a different form. I was thinking of having the choir sing songs like ''Down Under'' by Men At Work, ''I still haven't found what I'm looking'' by U2, and ''Amazing Grace''. Those are great songs and sound amazing when a lot of people sing them together. Another idea I had was to give people all around the world the opportunity to send short stories, comments, and ideas about anything and everything. A panel of ''experts'' will pick the best and most touching ones before the game. Then I would have Charles Dance come out and just read them out loud for the whole audience. I think that would also give people something different. Food for the soul. New ideas. New perspective as they hear words and ideas from people who live thousands of miles away. I think the best thing I like about the new sim is that it now keeps track of some of your stats within the sim index itself. I feel like that makes the index way nicer and more fun to explore and look around in. That might be the only thing though. I guess the addition of faces is nice, but sadly with it changing every time the index is updated it is just kinda a feature that I dont pay much attention to. I don't find the new sim particulary appealing or interesting to watch, but that is just a general thing with sims for me. As I do not really care to follow those live. However for the 'ball throwing' feature which made everyone panties wet, it was kinda disappointing tbh. I was pretty disappointed by the fact that RBs were so boom or bust when the initial sim went up and that they had to fix that immediately. Feels like that should have been something they caught in testing. Also the sim made Safeties extremely boring to play, which made the fact that a position open up at corner back to work out perfectly for me. Overall I have no strong opinion about the switch. I guess playoffs being way more random is kinda neat. [218 words] Code: 25. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? Considering I was a gm player, I was in a position to fill in any needs we saw with the team. At the time I created my player that was looking to be a safety. Which would have also been my pick if I had not been a gm. However if I had the full freedom of not having to worry about team needs and just my own. and if safety was oversaturated. I would have absolutely made a wide receiver. I have been outspoken since this player that I fully intend to make a wide receiver in the next draft I will be taking part in and even am very much looking forward to this recreate. As for why I would pick a wide receiver? It just seems like an extremely fun position to slide into and appear on the scoreboard with. It's one of the things I kinda miss now that I am playing on the defensive side of the ball. You have an effect on your teams score for and against, but without appearing on the scoreboard. So it's a little harder to see the impact you really make. Especially for a football illiterate like myself. If I dont see myself on the board I dont know how much of an impact I made. [217 words] Code: 27. What team do you think has the best branding in the league? What team do you think could use a refresh? Why? I am going to be extremely biased. For the best brand in the league I have to pick up my own mind creation. Ofcourse I am talking about the brand for the Honolulu Hahalua. I am so happy with how this branding came out and is still my favourite one to date. The manta ray is an absolute chad put together with the lei flower and the overall picture just looks so nice. The colour scheme works so well for me the blue and yellow play so nicely together. It is hard to say that the brand you came up with and brainstormed the logo for is bad. Just in love with the Manta Ray brand of all things. So that is going to have to be my pick for the best brand in the league. The worst brand in the league has to be one of the Ultimus finalist. Cannot say I am a fan of either of those two brandings. I feel like I am leaning more towards teh Berlin Fire Salamander branding as the worst, but it is a close one. They could absolutely do with a little touch up in my mind. Probably a whole rebrand to make it better in my opinion. [207 words] Code: 29. Affliate PT from either SHL/PBE. After the scandel that fueled a huge drama a few days ago, I think it would be appropriate to write a retrospective (no pun intended) about the user 'zamir', aka retrospect111. Zamir's story begins on February 16th, 2020. That day, now widely known as the recruitment day for ISFL's biggest single class in their history, saw zamir first set foot into this league along eith roughly 280 other rookies. At the early stages of S21 scouting period, zamir was one of the rookies who had became more widely known through his high activity in discord. At the same time, however, he would also be widely known as a user of 'toxic personality', which resulted in quite a few teams removing him altogether from their draft boards. Despite the "red flags", zamir went very high, being selected to the Portland Pythons with the 12th overall pick of that draft. For the ensuing season, little changed. Zamir was still very active in discord, max earned, and still sported his somewhat controversial personality. S21 came and went, and soon it became the time for the S22 ISFL draft. This time, zamir wouldn't be as lucky as he had been in the DSFL draft. Teams now had a whole season to observe him closely, and most teams concluded that he would be too "toxic" and controversial to fit in their team. So zamir slided a lot despite being a discord active max earner, until the Arizona Outlaws selected him in the 5th round. The next few seasons passed relatively quietly. Zamir stayed in Arizona as a loud mouthed but mostly harmless user, and even did some scouting for the Outlaws war room. Aside from a minor tampering punishment, it seemed like the Outlaws got very good value out of that 5th round pick when they spent it on zamir. Then, he declared for free agency. It is unknown what the circumstances were in Arizona, but from what I have gathered they didn't put in a lot of effort to re-sign him. Zamir didn't receive a lot of offers in the market either, and it seemed like he would sign with either Austin or Colorado after a few days. And after another day, rumors said that zamir was rapidly approaching agreement with Colorado. In Colorado, there had been a lot of discussions. A significant portion of war room was against siging zamir, and put up a long debate. But by this point, the anti- zamir faction was mostly out of arguments and it really seemed like zamir was coming to Colorado. However, a rapid chaib of events turned a situation completely around in a very short time. As the Colorado war room was preparing for the contract post, one war room member found out that zamir made a very inappropriate joke in Austin's public locker room, and the fact that Austin ceased all contract talks with hin after that incident. The mood of the war room changed in one moment, and everyone agreed that zamir should not be in the team after they saw the actual "joke" that zamir made. With Colorado backing off literally minutes and nobody else willing to offer him a contract, zamir ended up retiring his player. And as he got a site ban for a season after another set of inappropriate comments in discord, he was going to take an involuntary break from the league. Around that time, a new user named excelsior joined the league. He was quite peculiar from the start, as he seemed hell bent on being a first rounder in ISFL draft and going up immediately. He seemed a bit pompous, but he was a max earner and seemed like a good presence in the locker room, at least to some scouts. Excelsior would eventually achieve his goals. He was drafed 10th overall to the Baltimore Hawks after switching position to a defensive end right before draft, and he went up right away. He later won DSFL most dedicated member award, became a HO intern (although he was asked to leave that job after an inappropriate remark in twitter), and became a member of Baltimore war room. Zamir, on the other hand, returned from his involuntary break and created a kicker. After nobody wanted him in the DSFL (the reason why Colorado turned him off at the last moment was widespread by this time), he retired his player. This time, however, he decided to go out with a bang. While the pre draft was on session, zamir leaked the whole first round of the draft from unknown sources. That resulted in zamir being permanently banned from the league, and HO scrambling for the replacement PT for the ISFL mock draft one. And while HO, GMs and war room members rushed around to find potential leaks, everyone thought that it was the end of zamir saga. But alas, it was not. A few days ago, we all found out through a media article that excelsior, the former HO intern and most dedicated member, was actually a multi of zamir. It seemed like that created a multi with a sole purpose of causing harm to the league, even leaking the draft to himself using excelsior's excess to the pre draft through Baltimore's war room. This long drama is something that should not happen ever again in this league, but unfortunately I am doubtful that this will be the last multi/ toxic user drama judging from other events from the ISFL's past. What we should do will be to minimize the chance of those events happening through regular checks and more timely reactions. (934) |
