RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - Dp-420 - 08-10-2021 Unfortunately for me, and for my DSFL team the Royals, losing has become a thing for us this season. We have lost so many games, and well I can point to myself for the blame of these loses. I have played like absolute shit, especially recently. I went from 2 picks in 5 games to leading the league with 7 by the end of week 7. My play has been inconsistent at best, and I have only had one real statement game this season. The rest of the games have been a major disappointment. Whenever I feel like a loss is squarely on my shoulders as to why we lost the game, I go ahead and apologize to my teammates in the locker room. I feel terrible because these guys and gals have busted their humps to improve and help set up this team for victories and it comes down to my piss-poor throwing that ends up losing the games. I was excited coming into the season, but after seeing how Ive played for the first half, it saddens me and makes me kind of want to ignore the 2nd half and pretend like Im not the QB. There is a game tonight, and Im not expecting miracles. As a matter of fact there are two games. Unfortunately, I expect two loses, and yet again expect to be apologizing to my teammates in the locker room. The GMs do a great job of supporting me and telling me it’s not my fault, we win as a team and we lose as a team, but when you can look at the box score, and directly relate my poor play to the loses, its hard to refute. I wont quit on this team, Ill keep trying my hardest, but going from 7-7 last season to 1-6 this season has been a major gut punch. I hope we can get this season back on track, but if we do indeed lose the double header tonight, then we will be 1-8 with a guaranteed losing record. I hate losing. I just hope we can put together some wins and soon. It sucks. Code: 358 RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - g2019 - 08-10-2021 Much like Parm above me, I can relate to being on a team who is struggling this season. The Norfolk Seawolves sit at 1-6, but are coming off of a statement win against Minnesota and, judging by the results on the field, are certainly improving. With a record like ours, I think some of us are seeing London as a rival, as I know neither one of our teams want to finish with the worst record in the league. Again, nothing against London (I like them a lot, actually!), but we don't want to be last. They took it to us in our first matchup, and I know we are hyped for the rematch. If we lost in OT against them, it would be a bitter pill to swallow, however our LR does a great job of staying positive and focusing on what we can control. Whether it's @negs, @TMosura, @SchwarzNarr, @IsaStarcrossed, Tesla, Zeph, or anyone else, we vent our frustrations and then move on to the old caveat, "we can only control the TPE our players gain, not the performance on the field". We have a great locker room full of fantastic and positive people, which is a big reason why, despite our record, we are still a very active and upbeat locker room and have (I believe) the biggest average weekly TPE updates of any team in the DSFL. Prior to being drafted by the Ducks, which Morpheus dearly loves, Morpheus was in deep talks with the Seawolves and was enamored with the team. The way a younger sibling always looks up to the older one while dearly hoping to outperform them as they grow older, Morpheus aims to make Norfolk regret not drafting him at every opportunity. But here we are, Morpheus has already tasted the sting of defeat to Norfolk and now needs to ponder what an OT loss to Norfolk would feel like. He'll start with this comment, no loss will dampen his sizzle. In the locker room, the team is going to pat itself on the back. Going into overtime is no small feat. A game like that must have been hard fought and any good effort must be celebrated, even in light of a loss. Senor Russ, Cody, John Huntsman, those three will probably be the loudest voices of optimism. Better to lose a single game than lose out the entire season. Again, hard fought games should be celebrated despite the outcome. Morpheus, a younger player, is all the better for such outlooks and responds with positivity and excitement for future games to come. Especially if the game was an important game, the team hates to lose. You would see the veterans and captains (oh wait that's me) trying to keep the spirits high while some of the players are down after what should have been an easy win. Saying things like "we'll have them next time" and "hey just blow some steam off in the gym," the team with the help of the coaching staff tries to regroup for the next big game because every game counts. After the post-game cooldown and training, most players have their mind set on the next game already, while the straggling few still need the night to recover. Whether it be food, drinks, gaming, or a combination of those, the team bands together once again to focus up after a tough loss. Beniri T'Chawama as the captain of the team in his rookie season is still learning the ropes from the veterans but he is much better at coping with losses compared to others. It might have been the teams that he has been on in the past, but losses don't really phase the rookie captain as he helps to keep the team spirits high. With a positive attitude and a few jokes shared between the team, he knows what it takes to be a leader and although he isn't the best, he will get there. An important thing for that is definitely knowing how to bounce back after a tough loss such as one against the London Royals. RE: (S30) PT 4 - Tough Loss - Jimi64 - 08-10-2021 What many people don't know is that Philly has a secret rival, the Glenford, Ohio Rough Riders. If you haven't heard of this team, that wouldn't be a surprise to anyone, since they're simply a pee wee team, but they're the best pee team of Western civilization. The Rough Riders have played the Liberty on many an occasion, and they lead the all time series record by 76 to 1. The 1 win from the Liberty came from when it was Bobby Wilkonson's birthday party and most of the team was invited. It wasn't necessarily a fair game, but there's usually an unfair advantage for the Rough Riders anyway, considering the talent disparity. In the most recent showdown, which came directly after the stellar Philly win over the Sailfish earlier in the season, the team was on the top of the world, so they thought this would be the perfect time to challenge those children from Ohio. However, what they didn't account for was Negs throwing 17, yes 17, interceptions. The combination of the children blowing by the offensive line (they used a great technique of diving between the legs of the lineman) and the lockdown coverage (Borgo simply could not get separation against Harry Dawkins, who Pee Wee scouts predict would be a future ISFL hall of famer), simply made Negs play the worst game of his life. The team was distraught. In the locker room after (the bathroom of the local Arby's), not one person would speak. the record was now 77-1. However, one player stepped forward to cheer up the team. Xavier Walls @xtitanxmvpx spoke up. "We can't let this get us down. I know exactly what to do to take our minds off of this pain." He reached into his suitcase. The team smiled, since they knew what was coming. He donned his mermaid tail and seashell bra, jumping immediately into a pitch perfect rendition of "Part of Your World." They laughed. They cried. Before they knew it, the team had forgotten all about the beating they took. It was time to move on. We were able to tie the game up with just a few seconds left to go in the fourth quarter, but unfortunately we just couldn't get it done. I mean, I did my job of course, just like I do in every single game. Coach gave me plenty of syrup I almost finished the entire bottle tonight. I love me some Canadian Pure Maple. I gave our Quarter Back plenty of room to maneuver, but it just wasn't enough in the end. We all pretty much sulked back into the locker room and started our postgame routine. IsHe... Really invisible pops on the Spotify and starts blasting some music on the speakers. Its some loud music from south of the border of course. As a group the music is so loud and we all face our lockers. As a group we have to get out all of our frustration. Before we let the media in, we just scream as loud as we possibly can. Make sure we slap ourselves in the faces and yell and yell to get all of that out. Then we turn the music off and sit and get ready in silence. Preparing for the next practice and game. Zoltan is centered and ready for the next day ahead. |
