Don't let anybody tell you that you did a shitty job. We even joked about being '2nd to colorado' when we missed out on a free agent signing in the past. You and your team knew how to sell your team and grab the interests of free agency. It's definitly not doing a bad job.
Even though we never really had any contact, I'm glad you are making the decision for yourself, it's just a shame that it had to come to this.
