(S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - Daybe - 08-27-2017 Brice Boggs' life in Tennessee was not always easy. While his family got along just fine, Boggs began noticing some of his friends weren't. One day, he was playing some football with his good friend Kellen Mayes at the local high school stadium. Brice Boggs was 13 at the time. "Set, Hike!" Boggs was running a fade route. Kellen threw a tight spiral right on the money. Boggs caught it, and ran 30 yards. He flipped into the end zone. He made a Heisman pose. He laid down in the end zone, and looked back at Kellen. "That was an amazing throw!". "Yeah. I guess." Kellen replied. Boggs sprinted back to the 50 yard line where Kellen was standing, with his head down. "What's the problem?" Boggs asked. "Oh, it's just that my mom says I can't play football this year." "Why not?" Boggs replied. Kellen started sniffling. "It's just that we ain't got the money for it." From that day on, Boggs made it his goal to help young children without enough money to play football. He eventually created his own program named "Boggs camp", a camp for young kids who enjoy football for free. At the end of the camp, he gave each player a set of their own pads, autographed. (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - HalfEatenOnionBagel - 08-27-2017 During the offseason coming up, the Philadelphia Liberty will be playing a big role in sponsoring the Taste of Philadelphia charity event. Over a hundred local food and alcohol vendors including restaurants, food trucks and local breweries will be participating in this event that will allow them to sample so much of Philadelphia’s culture in one place. All proceeds will be donated to support underprivileged children living in Philadelphia. The event will also have live music throughout the weekend featuring a lot of local artists as well. As part of the entire weekend, Philadelphia offensive lineman Micah Hendrix will also be holding an arm wrestling tournament. Participants can make a modest donation to be part of the tournament. The team has donated some great prizes including merchandise packages for all semifinalists and a season ticket package for the champion. Hendrix himself and the rest of the offensive line will be taking part in the tournament as well, willing to arm wrestle anyone that might be interested. Philadelphia GM adam2552 seemed very optimistic with regards to the event: “This is going to be a fun, family friendly event that will hopefully expose a lot of people to some of the great things that Philadelphia has to offer. But, most importantly, it is all for a great cause.” (216) (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - Rabidsponge21 - 08-27-2017 ![]() (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - loco - 08-27-2017 ![]() (S2) - Weekend PT #7 - Charity Fundraiser - Oles - 08-27-2017 Written: Must be at least 200 words, Your player is hosting a charity fundraiser. Describe what you are raising money for and what the event will be like Muscular Dystrophy Association, a charity I’ve been working with for a while now. Ever since I’ve first heard of the organization of done as much as I could to help them in anyway, and will continue to help until a cure is found. When I heard of this organization through an afterschool activity I’ve been drawn to helping them, I could never figure out why, but I’ve always wanted to help them. Now that I can do more to help them I’ll do everything I can, from donating to running events. One event is a 5k, a run to help raise awareness and get people donating. This charity run will take place in Philadelphia, and every dollar that comes to the event will be sent to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, with Oles matching every donation made. Oles is doing a 5k to help get people aware and active, and runs like this are the best way to raise awareness of the charity. Running a dinner or ball would be useless as we need everyone to be informed, not just the rich people. The more common folk will be able to access resources easier than any other sort of fundraiser. A 5k is a great way to get involved, because even if you don’t donate, you can still participate, or you can enjoy any of the other things the 5k has to offer that will bring money in, such as merchandise for the event. All proceeds go directly to the cause, there is no money trickled out to pay anyone, this is all volunteer work. This charity has been around since 1997 and has already in his twenty year existence done a lot for the animals in Chicago. The numbers of cats, dogs and other pets that were euthanized has drastically been reduced since the start. Something that Vincent believes thoroughly in is the fact of the matter, that all animals deserve a chance, no matter what is going on in the world. Some animals are even better than people, and that’s a fact. So every off season, Vincent heads home to Chicago and gets to work, besides donating a portion of his salary to the group, he also tries to donate man hours to any spot that is in need. During the off season, if you ever want, just head to Chicago and its more than likely you will see Vince walking dogs, helping clean the animals, getting them food or treats, and everything associated with it. Vincent himself has helped home a fair number of animals, and hopes to not see any more kill shelters in Chicago within the next five years. Only time will tell, but PAWS Chicago is changing the game up.
