(S3) - Weekend PT #1 - Off-Season - Rabidsponge21 - 09-09-2017 There was a lot for Blewitt to do this off season. Being the apparent laughing stock of the S3 entry draft, he had a lot to prove. Who takes a kicker 1st round? Are the Sabercats insane? Stupid? Insanely Stupid, or playing 4D chess? Well Blewitt knew it was up to him to make them seem like geniuses before it was all said and done. Now approaching the 240 TPE mark heading into his 1st full season he hopes his goals and field goalds will be met with success sooner than later. Literally spending more ‘Leg’ days than most Bro’s spend in their lives during the summer, Blewitts goal was simple. Kick it far and kick it hard. Protein was the name of this game, and Blewitt was sucking that stuff back faster than a dyson vacuum. Running almost daily. Chess matches everyday. Suduko puzzles, advanced math problems, anything and everything he could do to build himself up he did. He has to make this pick worth it. He has to make strides this year over last years performance. He has to start his quest for the record books. Finally, and the most important part of it all. He had to get his superstitions in check before the season started and get all the kinks worked out for his pre game rituals. Shoes. Check. Gum. Check. Bubblegum. Check. One full bottle of aloe vera. Check. We ready son. (S3) - Weekend PT #1 - Off-Season - 4D Chess - 09-09-2017 For the Arizona Outlaws the team bonding experience of the offseason was Duck Hunting. Yes, you read that right: duck hunting. Deep in the woods of Montana you can hardly hear a sound, then suddenly a loud QUACK comes, followed by the flapping of a Duck's wings. Suddenly, 8 Arizona Outlaws players jump up and begin shooting at the duck "!Bang" "!Bang" One after another. Who is the best sharpshooter on the team? Well perhaps unsurprisingly it's usually the guy with the best aim on the gridiron, King Bronk. Er is anti-gun so he refuses to participate, but the rest of the team have a blast out there. Mark Strike is always quick to pull the trigger and Arbin Asipi and CA Chess are known for their temper tantrums after missing a duck. Chess, from Flint, Michigan, clearly was never much of a duck hunter growing up as he has one of the worst accuracy rates on the team. However, one thing that he has mastered is missing three or four of his shots before finally killing the duck. Usually it's his tireless work ethic, rather than natural skill, that allows him to get even a single duck. But all in all, Chess enjoyed the hobby this offseason: it's a great way to bond, slightly competitive, and you can smoke a joint or two in the woods and nobody will even notice. 232 Words (S3) - Weekend PT #1 - Off-Season - Yurt6 - 09-09-2017 During the offseason, Clifford Rove was doing numerous things to make sure he was in the shape necessary going into camp. Knowing that he was the likely starter this season for the Liberty, Rove spent a lot of time in the film room, dissecting the defenses of his future opponents. He also spent time learning his defense, to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses. He also the majority of his practice time on the accuracy of his passes. Prior to being drafted, Rove cited this as one area he felt he could really improve, and it appears he feels he has at least begun to address that concern. After being drafted, Rove also spent time this offseason getting to know his teammates. He had this to say about that: “If I’m expected to be a leader of the offense, I can’t just come in day one and expect them to treat me like it. So thats why I’ve begun to try and form these bonds with my teammates, so that when we’re on the field we can run like a well oiled machine”. While people are across the board on how Rove will play this season, one thing is for certain, he has been working hard to try and meet that challenge. 213 Words (S3) - Weekend PT #1 - Off-Season - Lendoris - 09-09-2017 The calm before the storm. As many NSFL players take time off and prepare for the rigorous painstaking season ahead, Calkewlated Chambers III, a newly drafted overall 21st pick of the draft, took a little trip to the other side of the world. Cal being a big man has always known the power of a man's weight. He wanted to watch other athletes excel using their body like powerful bulldozing machines. Cal attended the Grand Sumo tournament of Japan at the Kokugikan in Tokyo. He enjoyed witnessing the many ground pounding matches. After the Tournament he even participated in amateur Sumo classes, improving his stance, hands, and speed as an overall athlete. He wasn't as good as he thought he would be. Being tossed out of the ring multiple times he continued to keep getting back in the ring, until he got his first win. After that he felt accomplished enough to enjoy the tourist sites of Tokyo. During his nights he would spend walking the streets and trying various forms of Japanese street cuisine. He found himself wanting to learn how to cook these dishes for his return home. He didn't learn any Japanese while he was there. His head was too full of football terminology and he would not risk losing any of it. Once back stateside Cal continued to support his new hobby of Sumo. Most of his time was actually spent training… with fellow teammate and GOAT tight end Ricky Maddox. When the media and other players around the league caught wind of this, they didn’t really understand what was going on. Why would an offensive player, especially a star like Ricky Maddox, be training with a defensive player? The answer soon become apparent however, when Ricky Maddox officially announced that he was switching positions and would be playing on the defensive line for the Wraiths. What was it exactly that convinced the star tight end, who was the best the NSFL had ever seen, to leave his position of dominance and change positions to the other side of the ball? Turns out, a significant factor was Bork. Bork had helped Maddox decide for himself which would be better for the team, and when Maddox decided on making the switch, Bork went all in on helping his teammate transition. Strength training, tackling drills, agility and speed shuffles, you name it. When the pair returned to Yellowknife at the end of the offseason training together, they both knew that their hard work would pay off. (218 words) (S3) - Weekend PT #1 - Off-Season - Daybe - 09-09-2017 What did your player do this off season to prepare for the upcoming NSFL or DSFL season? Brice Boggs was emotionally shattered by the NSFC Championship loss. After the game, he went right home, didn't talk to anybody. He made a personal goal to work harder and to be more successful. He went through a tough offseason training regime that helped increase his speed, hands, and his agility. Every day, he would get up at 4 AM, eat a light breakfast, and head to the gym. He would begin on the treadmill, running for short spurts while setting the treadmill at about 15 MPH every time. Exponentially, that number grew and grew, and Boggs' short distance speed increased and increased. He knew that to be a successful linebacker in the NSFL, he would have to make his speed one of his best traits to be able to chase down the faster backs in the league, like Reg Mackworthy and Darlane Farlane. Eventually, his hard work paid off, as his speed significantly increased throughout the offseason. He made his personal motto "I will work harder!" and spent hours in the training room. He spent about 12 hours in the training room each day. His goal was to bring the Wraiths and NSFC Championship and eventually, an Ultimus trophy. 200 words (S3) - Weekend PT #1 - Off-Season - PigSnout - 09-09-2017 Boss Tweed had one main goal entering the off-season: get faster. This was the same goal he had after Season 1 and it payed off big time as he made a big statistical jump between Season 1 and Season 2 due to his improved speed. The league's fastest defenders were still able to keep up with Tweed, but that will not be the case anymore. After his off-season training, Tweed believes he can leave any defender in the league in the dust. He recently told reporters that he believes he is now the fastest player in the league. Tweed simply spent the entire off-season running. Whenever he needed to go somewhere, he did not let himself walk and instead ran at full speed to get there. Not only did this allow him to accomplish things faster and have more time to work out in the gym, but it allowed him to be in the best shape of his life and as he ran more, he gradually began to run faster. Tweed is looking to make another big jump this off-season. Last season he cemented himself as one of the league's top running backs, but this year his goal is to be THE top running back in the league. If these rumors are true and Tweed has become even faster, opposing defenses better watch out. Quote:224 Words (S3) - Weekend PT #1 - Off-Season - timeconsumer - 09-09-2017 Angus Winchester spent the offseason up on his Medocino County Ranch in Northern California. The new father whose son Hank Winchester was born in the offseason was spending time with his growing family. During their time off the couple found time to finally tie the knot, and were married in front of a very small group of family on their ranch. With time to relax and enjoy the beautiful Northern California Summers Angus Winchester mostly forgot about the game of football. He returned to his roots of farm work as he tended to his goats, chickens, and horse. Of course even without football on his mind Angus Winchester didn't neglect his weight lifting. Having a plethora of plates, bars, and racks in a building on his property he wasted no time in working to hit new PRs in the squat, deadlift, bench press, and power clean. Having spent a lot of the most recent regular season working more and more on film and technique and spending less time in the weight room, Winchester felt his game had suffered. So returning to the raw power style that made him famous in season 1, Angus Winchester is once again the strongest man in the NSFL. (S3) - Weekend PT #1 - Off-Season - Swegkingu - 09-09-2017 This summer has been a weird one for former pro-soccer player Tony Flygare. After a couple years hiatus after his professional career he is now only playing for fun in a sunday-league, tryign to keep himself in shape. His life took a odd turn a bunch of years ago when he was playing for Malmö FF in the Swedish soccer league Allsvenskan, but got frozen out of the team after missing a penalty that would be devastating for the team. The one and only Zlatan Ibrahimovich took his place and the rest is history. This year, Flygare got a call by a old time friend, telling him about the nsfl. Flygare instantly lightened up and went to the draft, hoping for the best. What he didnt expect was that the game was actual football. In europe(and pretty much every other country except for North America) Football IS actually soccer, so he was pretty surprised. However, he thought that he might as well try it out, now that he's here and all. So, to begin, he had to look up the rules for the game. He chose the position of Quarter Back because he thinks they look cool, and his legs aren't what they used to be. At least he'll be better than Zlatan at this. (S3) - Weekend PT #1 - Off-Season - Kronen - 09-09-2017 In preparation for this upcoming season, Ragnar Kronen didn't mess around or fool with things that do not matter in the slightest. He is ready to rock this season because during the off season, Ragnar Kronen did nothing but Mavis Beacon! Over the off season, he steadily and diligently rose his words per minute from his starting benchmark of twenty-five up to as high as fifty. He understands what really matters in this league and is honing his ability to write quickly a well-crafted articulate long from letter from scratch. To do this, he has experimented with lots of different keyboards. Ultimately, he's settled on a high quality Taiwanese manufactured mechanical keyboard from the maker Ducky. Their line utilizes the latest in RGB led technology with a plethora of colors available. This way Ragnar can properly reflect his mood. When he would really rather not be writing for the league's press office, he can adjust the color of the ambient lighting to a cool purple or an upset red. When he is happily buzzing along writing up a storm, a pleasant blue or green lights up his room. This is the primary way ragnar is prepping for the new season and truly focusing on what matters in the National Simulation Football League. Good game for all! |
