(S5) - Weekend PT #1 - Controversy - PDXBaller - 12-24-2017

I think the Er Multi account controversy was probably the biggest thing that happened this offseason (even considering the mass Las Vegas Legion retirement). Er had one of the most prolific players in Jayce Tuck and the identity of the Arizona Outlaws will be tarnished along with their 3 championship titles. This was a stunning revelation that demonstrated how one player was able to keep multiple accounts going at once and to keep them all on one team for his benefit. It’s incredulous to believe that one person would take the time and effort to create and manage so many accounts all to win championships illegitimately. Unfortunately this put the league in jeopardy as many players questioned the league’s integrity since the league’s inception. The scandal has great implications moving forward with the Outlaws roster dwindling down after the removal of the suspected multi accounts. This makes the Orange County Otters the favorites to win the Ultimus for the foreseeable future.

A huge controversy for the Arizona Outlaws was the Er scandal. TBH I was about ready to tear my hair out, because I was still a new gm at the time and finding out that some very important members of your team were the same person. We have responded well though, because our secondary is better than last season, Our LB is a little worse off, and our DL is also a little worse off. But all in all after that huge debacle, we have responded well. Despite what some other people will tell you, we did not blow up the team. Everything was for a reason, every trade thought out for the present and the future, and there were plenty of trade discussions had about players. As well as discussion between me and adam what to do. I feel that the present is still looking good for us, and the future is bright as well.

They say controversy sells but what do ‘they’ know when it comes to the NSFL. This past season, a well-respected member of the league was confirmed as a cheater having held 7 confirmed accounts of multiple players under his control. Key Arizona Outlaws players were removed from the team and this absolutely threw the roster into shambles. Defensive powerhouse Jayce Tuck and important players like Tim pest and Cristiano Ronaldo played a big role in the success of the Outlaws three back to back to back championships. It was hard to believe that such an important member of the community had multi accounts since the league began. We’ll never know the real outcomes of the first 3 Ultimus games because of his actions.

Hopefully the community and league can overcome these controversies and move forward in a positive way. It’s been a fun time I’ve had here and I’d hate to see the league go away forever.

Well...it was pretty fucked up what the Legion did by retiring. It looked like the team was rebuilding and doing alright until a bunch of them decided to retire to leave the team in league limbo and at the bottom of the barrel. I’ve been in a few other sim leagues and I’ve never seen this type of shit happen where a basically a whole team retires and leaves. This puts the league in absolute meltdown because it hurts the division and looks bad to new players. I was on the fence about joining this league because I had been in a few in the past that folded and I saw the Legion retirement post which made me rethink joining for quick minute. This really changed the league and we saw a bunch of players shift around but I think things have bounced back and the Legion are on track to make money moves.

Much has been written on the mass retirement of Las Vegas Legion players this off-season. From the extremely harsh, saying that TE Connor Tanner was responsible for this movement, to crazy Nevadan theories of aliens abducting the real players. One player who’s seen it all from the inside is Alexandre LeClair, who revealed us the real reason so many promising players left the NSFL.

“They all got into this crazy Bitcoin trading fad after Wyatt Fulton showed them how it worked. At first it wasn’t an issue as they talked about it after practice and after the games. But as the season got worse and worse, they began realizing that time spent losing on the field could be used as time to trade more Bitcoins. They all agreed together on retiring at the same time at that point, leaving the few of us that didn’t care about Bitcoins some of us in the dust.”

Will players from other teams follow suit as cryptocurrencies? For the sake of the NSFL’s survival, we hope not.

Controversy

When thinking about controversy in the NSFL, one might have thoughts of someone having multi-players or multi-accounts where the same person is controlling and perpetrating the lives and roles of many players over the roster of a couple teams. This is mostly beneficial if many of those players are on the same team, where the benefits are endless, having more active players on the roster helps those teams become more successful. Winning championships even. The other controversy someone might write about has to do with the mass retirement of one organization. This for all intensive purposes is bad for a team and a league who is already struggling to be successful due to the lack of active participating players. Those two examples are deep and heavy and negative, but where I’m looking for my controversy is on the lighter side.
After recently listening to the season 5 NSFL draft telecast, I was appalled by two things. The first was the lack of coverage on the leagues first and second round picks. There was no depth in coverage, two players were interviewed and only 4 or 5 even talked about. There was more time spent discussing other topics than the actual draft taking place. Secondly, how is no one talking about the 5 minutes of interruption by TLK’s mother, vacuuming. It shut the entire telecast down audibly. Nobody could hear anything else over the vacuum. This was confirmation we, all NSFL players, are indeed a bunch of 20-something and 30-somethings living in our mother’s basements, playing games. Sad really.

I laughed my ass off when I heard this and gave me the idea to write on it. I looked for any response to the telecast to find any mention of it, to no avail, I found nothing. It needed to be talked about. It was funny.

As I’m sure everyone has heard by now, the Las Vegas Legion suffered a major setback on their progress as a team. Everyone knows how bad of a history the team has had, with almost no history of success at all, and many thought the team literally couldn’t be worse. Well, they couldn’t be more wrong. First, almost the entire core of the team decided to retire together in an act of rebellion to sabotage their former team. Then, the dismantled franchise was taken over by a rogue GM who in one single day, managed to put the team in a worse position than they had been the day before, a feat that was honestly hard to do. Fortunately, things are looking slightly better for the legion in the future, as they have been put in good hands with one of the best GMs in the league, and their offense actually has a chance to be a pretty good one.

As a brand new rookie in the DSFL, I don't care about mass retirements or puppet masters or whatever other scandals have rocked the league in the recent past. Yeah, some messed up things went down, but while everyone else is focused on rehashing old crap, I'm training hard an looking for a way to make my mark. I expect to retire a Hall of Famer when all is said and done, not be remembered for having the hottest take on something I was never even a part of, you know?

I came here to do one thing: ball out. That's what the Portland Pythons are paying me to do, and it's all I want to do. The only controversy that matters to me is that I was drafted so late. Every team that passed on me better be ready for my revenge tour, because I will not forget the disrespect. Be warned. I'm coming for all of y'all.
