One thing that I would love to see added to this league is a more meaningful late round draft. For instance, as it stands, the draft is often considered depleted after the first 2-3 rounds and we lack any excitement, or even hope, that those late round picks will make an impact. Now, I do recognize that we've received suggestions, but for the most part they have been unfair or unrealistic. I'm unsure as of yet how to successfully implement a system which will allow those late rounders to become diamonds in the rough, but it is definitely something worth continued consideration.

Removed:
I want to remove members that aren't committed to their league jobs from their positions. This spurred on my oversight of jobs that needed organizing this past off-season. There were individuals who were rarely available, ignored heads when they were, and contributed next to nothing, yet were being paid just as much as someone that did the job to all of its specifications. We have too many people that want to make money and become contributing members of the community to allow dead weight to hog positions. This is also why I suggested that job heads create their goals at the beginning of the season and report their successes at the end. It will help keep you organized and weed out people that do not fulfill their ends.

Addition: I'd love something that makes point tasks a little more manageable/easy to access for newbie players. Not that there's anything particularly difficult about them now, I just think it could be done better. For example, a post that is routinely updated to display all open point tasks and their deadlines, requirements, etc. I don't spend a ton of time on the forums so something like this would catch me up on what's important with minimal effort. On top of that, it might be worthwhile to store TPE info in a database or even a spreadsheet. Again, as someone who doesn't spend a ton of time here, updating is a little bit of a task as I have to find a post, link my point tasks, etc. If your TPE for each week long period we're tracked and put in a spreadsheet I think it would make updating simpler for everyone involved.

Removal: This is a tough one as I'm not totally sure how each cog in the league works with the others. I suppose my somewhat radical suggestion would be eliminating the DSFL draft. I don't have any real gripes with how things turned out, but I assume that most of us (particularly those in the DSFL) just want to see how our players turn out. I couldn't care less about winning a fake championship at the moment, this is more of a RPG for me than anything. With that in mind, letting teams draft after players commit to a position and before those players sort themselves out as active or not kind of gives us players an unfair shake. For example, my team ends up with two tight ends. Both of us are active but neither, as far as I know, had any kind of reputation entering the draft. For the team it makes sense to cast a wide net, but what happens if both turn out active? Then you have a situation where one gets the short end of the stick in terms of position or playing time but both are locked in to their team and position. In that sense I think the draft is painfully flawed. Those flaws can be easily fixed without eliminating the draft itself, but that's not the point of this part of the task.

Enjoying: After a rocky start to my experience here I've been enjoying how the league is run. Things seem to happen on time in most cases and the sims are not only quick but broadcast in real time. Basically none of this has been my experience in past sim leagues, so this has been a pleasant surprise. There seems to be a proactivity in terms of handling job openings, rule changes, and any issues that arise in the league and I think that helps things run smoothly. Sure, I still have a handful of gripes, but for the most part I can't find much to complain about.

Something Added
I would like to see the sim upgraded to the newer version, just for the streams. The sim seems to perform as admirably as can be expected when it comes to generating stats and the like (with, of course, some idiosyncrasies), but since such a big focus of this leagues is the streams, an updated presentation would be a welcome change. If that can’t be done, perhaps there could be some added flair or fanfare surrounding the whole streaming experience. What that would be, I would have a hard time determining. Perhaps more commentary and analysis? Maybe a short pregame and postgame analysis segment? It’s hard to tell, but I think something to enhance the sim experience could really highlight what this league is about.

Something Removed
Something I would like to see removed is (and I’m not sure about this suggestion at all) the reliance on Discord for so much of the league activity. I don’t mind using Discord, and I spend a lot of my time in there. But to a new member, who doesn’t yet use the Discord, the forums can seem a bit… bare, maybe? It seems like the forums are used for controversy and PTs, with the occasional amazing media piece thrown in. Maybe if there were less reliance on Discord, there would be more activity in the forum locker rooms or other discussion venues.

Something I Like
There are so many things that I like about this league. I love the weekly PTs. I love the media reward system. I love the streams and the activity that goes on in the locker rooms and general chat in Discord (despite its potential intimidation factor or left-outedness for new members). Realistically, even though I found things to write about for the above sections, there is very little that I would really overhaul if I were given complete control. The thing that I like above all, though, is the PTs. To be able to level up your character by truly fleshing them out in roleplaying is a perfect system for someone like me, who loves to write and develop character stories.

One thing I would like to add to the Nsfl is more friendly user face. For mobile and PC. It seems everyone on my team uses their PC but I use my phone for all of this. Im not able to post links of just my claimed pt in my updated page because of this. I think it would benefit us and the graders if we could add some kind of way to make it more fluid for everyone. I don't know what that will entail and I don't have any solutions myself but hopefully someone does. Something that goes hand in hand would be making the form a lot more user friendly. I'm good with it now since I know it but when I first started I didn't know how to navigate anything and there's zero instructions on how to start.

One thing that I would like removed is the lack of time to the live stream on twitch. After one game ends there's usually a few minutes before the next game starts, which is completely fine. My problem is that as soon as the next game starts it's playing. I always have to refresh my feed to get the game on and I always come in at about 10 minutes left I'm the first quarter. If we could change that and make it so there's at least minute or two of just the new feed and not the game that way it gives us watching it live a chance to make it in before the game starts. That would be pretty awesome.

One thing I currently like about the league is by far the people. It has been really fun getting to know these people on here. For the most part everyone is very willing to help out. The players on pythons are really great always helping out when we can. And I'd like to give a shout out to pdxballer because he is by far the best gm in the league. All of us ask so many questions and he always answers us and in a very quick manner too. So great job everyone recruiting on getting some really great people here. Hopefully we can keep it up and keep recruiting great people so this league doesn't die anytime soon. Also I love the grind to get tpe and seeing actual results with my player out in the Sim. Definitely makes it worth it.

One thing that I’d love to be added to the league is a way to keep me engaged during the offseason or preseason. I constantly find myself forgetting to come onto site and doing updates then because there is nothing really bringing me to it. I’m not sure what that would be. It could be a tournament, it could be media contests, or it could even be an event of some sort. I know this isn’t really that helpful, but I think it would honestly help retention because I think that that is where you really start to lose people. I could be wrong, but i know that is when I’m most likely to not be doing updates and things of that nature.

One thing that I’d like removed would be the oligarchical structure of the league. While I do think that the head office needs to be the final say, I would like to see referendums on a lot of the decisions before any punishments are given out. They wouldn’t always have to follow exactly what the voters say, but it would give HO a general idea of how people felt, and prevent a lot of the backlash that comes with most of the decisions. I think it is important that the head office always has the final say, but I don’t think it could hurt to remove the privacy and shadowing of voting until the decision is final.

I really like the community here, and I think that it is the strongest asset that the NSFL has. While I can’t speak for every locker room, I know that ours is one where everyone gets along and is always a good time. I think anything that the league can do to strengthen and encourage close and talkative team locker rooms would be great for the league, and boost retention up. I’m sure I speak for a lot of people when I say that it really is the people that keep me here, more so than the league or the team.

One Thing I would Remove: One rule I would remove from the league is the rule about teams needing to draft their GM, with their highest second round pick. I believe this should instead be the teams highest second pick. It is a big difference because a team could trade their first round pick, and lose a really good player because of it With this new one now you are guaranteed an active player. Where as with the second one your first pick could be in the third round, with inactives. This way teams dont need to worry about having a terrible draft class that wont contribute to the team.

One thing I would add: A better sim. I can not tell you how annoying and terrible this sim is. So many times it makes a dumb decision you did not want at all, and when you go back and check your dc after running 3 straight times down by 4 in the fourth quarter with a minute remaining, and realize hey, i have run set to the lowest I possibly can. Or perhaps when your team is in the lead, and then starts calling timeouts, saving the other teams timeouts and losing the game for you. Or maybe its a 70 tpe player doing better than your 200 tpe player.

One thing I like: One thing I like about the league is the streaming. Even if the sim sucks and makes me want to tear my hair out whenever I see it do something so dumb, the way we present our games is awesome. While other leagues may use a PBP text type of presentation, we actually use show the games happening. Its pretty cool to see your little dot running around and chase the QB even though you have 20 more speed and 80 tackling Smile That is not sarcasm at all, nope not a single bit. Honestly though, it is real fun to watch and I appreciate the league for it.

1. The one thing I truly want added to the league is the “TPE Mulitplier Bonus” added to all of the DSFL Rookies. Hear me out here. The worst thing about the NSFL is that the draft gives us ZERO draft studs. In the NFL, a “bad team’s” fortunes can turn around much more quickly because they get a stud in the draft. For instance, the Houston Texans found DeShaun Watson this year, and it changed the course of the franchise. He made them REALLY GOOD. They’d have been a playoff team for sure if he didn’t get hurt. NSFL doesn’t have that. This season, sure, Crush, Bly and a few others were studs (see: crazy TPE guys) but we’re still restricted to lower TPE than those in the league (for the most part) and we’ll NEVER catch them as long as they update. There has to be a way to get rookies more TPE to help them compete and a way to get a later round pick to be a surprise “diamond in the rough” that we see happen all of the time in the NFL but not here as much, if at all. Even when you play madden there’s a chance you can get a 4th rounder that’s MUCH better than you thought.
My interesting way of doing this is as follows: For a rookie in the DSFL, (we send everyone there for one year, regardless) for every task they do, they’re awarded a “Rookie Multiplier”. PT, Weekly Training, Activity Check all count. It rewards them for being active and even promotes early activity. So lets just say that by the draft, “Player X” earns 8 Rookie Multipliers along the way. The draft happens, and we’ll say that this player wasn’t CRAZY active but has been around, so he goes in the late second round. After the draft, live on twitch, HO/the commissioner will personally stream them rolling 2 dice for each player. So as we work our way down the draft board, we get to Player X. The dice are rolled. It comes up 10. We know that Player X has 8 Rookie mulitpliers from the season so (10 x 8 = 80) they’re awarded 80 TPE to add to their player.

This does a few things: first, it has the incredible “fun” factor for seeing who gets what. Like, using myself as an example, I had about 15 multipliers. That gives me the potential to have had anywhere from 30 – 180 TPE won. Now, I know you’re saying “HOLY SHIT YOU COULDVE GOTTEN 180 TPE WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS STUPID”, but hear me out. First off, I’d need to have gotten a 12 rolled for me. And if someone did get a ton of TPE? THAT’S THE POINT. To help new players literally change franchises asap. Sometimes, the best get better, sure, (like in real life…fuck New England) but other times new teams can emerge with a diamond in the rough. Secondly, it takes a fringe player like “Player X” who maybe wasn’t thrilled with falling behind in the league and all of a sudden they get a bunch of TPE to play with and maybe we just saved someone from going inactive. HO controls the dice rolls so there will be no foul play since it’ll be streamed live. First rounders still matter because they’re the most active guys, but we instantly create those potential 3rd/4th round gems that the NFL has. Plus, because the first rounders are usually the most active, the third guys who didn’t do as much all season most likely won’t surpass them in TPE from this. But it makes ALL of the rookies as a whole much better for the big leagues. We just saw a team “mass retire” because they’ll never catch up in TPE to the good teams. This can help with that ideology as well. Hopefully, @sapp2013 and @TheMemeMaestro will present this idea during the HO summit. (864)

2. Something I don’t like in the league is the look of the website. I think the white makes it look too bland. I’d really like something that pops a bit more. Maybe a better logo? I think we need some new branding (keeping the NSFL name). There were definitely some low points the league just went through, and I think a new look and a fresh coat of paint for us could really be a nice message that we’re moving forward and looking away from the “sins of the past”. I know this is all cosmetic and stuff, but I really feel like something small like this is enough of a mental change that might do some good. (119)

3. What I currently like is how we stream the sims. I know that our sim engine isn’t exactly a world beater, but the absolute coolest thing we have is being able to watch our games. Ive said it before and I’ll say it again: I never knew how much fun I’d have watching little dots zip around on my computer screen. It’s a ton of fun and it makes our league unique. It should be a selling point for when we get new members. I don’t know if there’s a way to really enhance the experience there, but if we DO ever change to a different sim engine, lets hope it still has this feature. (117)

One thing I want to take away is the DSFL Salary Cap. I actually proposed this rule last year during the rule summit and got support of most of the head office and most of the General Managers, but two GMs voted it down. Basically if we took away the salary cap then we could have set salaries for each DSFL player. My proposal would be a set salary (something like 5M) for the first year they are in the DSFL and then the NSFL has to pay their salary next season. OR we could do that the first year is 5 and each other year in DSFL is like 2M a year. Something to that effect. I think it would increase the money DSFL players get AND it would allow each of them to start on the same foot. Right now there is a peverse incentive for DSFL GMs to add too many players, because it would hurt their cap. 161

One thing I want to add is a collegiate league / Tournament. So in other sim leagues (like SBA and SHL) they have international teams and tournaments. Basically you're on your regular team but also by place of birth you're on an international team. Since most players are american in the NSFL that wouldn't work. So what if we made teams by collegiate conference. There would be a BIG 10 team, SEC, ACC, Big 12, PAC 12 and Other conferences teams. It would give people a chance to be in different locker rooms, give people a chance to play with different people and to be on winning teams if they're stuck on a bad one. Also gives the chance to do maybe a tournament or league over the off season. 130

There are obviously a lot of things I love about this league. I spend a ton of time being here in the head office, and I was a DSFL GM. But to be honest the best thing about this league to me always has been my locker room on the Hawks. @HENDRIX was such a huge help when I got started here, and he's an awesome dude. I don't know if I should thank him, since he got me addicted here, but in all seriousness we have an awesome time in the LR and on the field we've had a lot of success (this season exluded). But I know most people feel this way about their teams, and that's awesome! That means GMs are generally doing a really good job in here. 132

One thing I would love to see added is a new league job. Live stream commentator. On reason I’d love for this is because when the commentary is there, it just adds a dimension to the stream that makes it even more of a blast to watch. In theory you’d have 6 people hired, 2 for each night. With 1 of each of those pairs having a secondary night if someone cannot make the stream. With OBS they could be commenting as the stream goes live so no planning beforehand too, which makes it just as nuts. We do the draft with a livecast, why not do some streams with live commentary?

Write 1 thing that you would like added to the league
I'd like to see us go away from Jcink. We need to progress our site and make it stand out among the other sim leagues and getting a real website developed with apps that can ease the burden of updaters and PPT would go a long way for us. This would be a big 'added to the league' idea. This would give us the capabilities to develop a 'Player Creation Page' and/or 'Player Updater' that would give players the chance to automatically receive TPE for their activities and then go into an app that let's them allocate TPE with scaling automatically built in. The forums need to be removed for us to become a premier sim league. I'm a QA by profession and I know 37thchamber is a developer and we can get some more folks with expertise to really create something special if we had the means to fund the hosting.

1 thing that you would like removed
I think inactives should be removed from the DSFL or have the rights held by the respective DSFL and NSFL teams but move the player to the practice squad. As it stands, DSFL GMs have to claw and fight for inactives with some players having poor builds. If we remove all inactives and give GMs a chance to create a whole new roster after the DSFL draft, this gives them the chance to design a team built around their actives. For example, if I draft 2 WRs and no RBs, I may want to create my OL bots to have more pass blocking and less run blocking. Another example would be if I wanted to have a defense built for speed and pass rushing because I drafted interior rushers then I could design my DE bots to focus on speed/tackling and run a faster tempo style of play. An addition to this idea would be to remove the DSFL salary cap. We need to just give rookies a flat salary so that they all start off on equal footing instead of a situation where I only had 4 players drafted last season so I gave the biggest contracts out of all the other DSFL teams to give them a headstart on buying equipment.

1 thing that you currently like
I love the live streams and the community here. This was my first sim league and I expanded into a few others, but couldn't get into it because I didn't enjoy reading indexes or results after games. Having a live stream really brings people together since we can all watch it at the same time and chat. A new thing I've been enjoying is hanging with my Pythons team in discord chat and watching the games together. Last night we had myself, Alfredo_Pasta, SuperSquare, and even Cdub2 in voice chat and it was a blast watching the game together. I know live streaming isn't easy and challenging to keep up with, but I definitely appreciate it.
