(S6) - PT4 - Frustrations - SwagSloth - 03-08-2018 It feels like this PT was created with the Wraiths in mind. Maybe not, but we certainly fit the bill. After two recent trips to the Ultimus championship game, the Wraiths had vowed to make this the year that they brought home the title. Instead, they found themselves off to a mediocre 2-2 start. And that was almost forgivable, but then the unimaginable happened as the Wraiths faced the Second Line on home turf… and tied. In one game, the team went from being regarded as one of the best teams in the league to being a laughing stock. Now, this isn’t to disrespect the Second Line, who have some incredible players in their locker room. The day will come when that team finally gets the respect they deserve. However, when that day comes, New Orleans will find themselves with more than just a win or two. And, until they finally break out, any win or even tie they get will come with some ridicule at the other team’s expense. And the Wraiths found themselves on the wrong end of that ridicule. The debacle obviously impacted the team’s confidence, leading to a string of losses, but they finally gained some validation when they shocked the league and achieved a victory in an away game over the Otters. However, the pressure is now on the Wraiths to keep it up or they’ll quickly find themselves back on the way to a losing season. 242 Words (S6) - PT4 - Frustrations - HENDRIX - 03-08-2018 I wish I had 1 NSFL dollar for every time the Baltimore Hawks lost a game as a Vegas favorite or a pick 'em. If I did, I wouldn't need to write another article, hold a job, or collect a contract for the rest of my career. Now, this is before the shocking victory in Orange County, an underdog victory to that magnitude is a true shocker and went a long way of easing new frustrations of season 6. However, since mid season 4, through season 5, and the first half of season 6, the surprise losses have greatly exceeded surprise wins. Over time these things should even out, but they haven't yet. Some might point to season 2 and season 3 as years where the Hawks used up all their luck, but that would be incorrect. Based on the math, they had season winning totals that were completely in line with what was expected. Season 4 was a tragedy, they dropped a game against the Yeti that was about a 91% chance of victory that ultimately kept them out of the playoffs. The team went 7-7 that season, but based on the math that was a 9-5 team all day long. Misfortune has continued long after that into season 6. However, with the win @OC maybe these things will start to improve to the mean. (226) (S6) - PT4 - Frustrations - Molarpistols - 03-08-2018 In a league like the NSFL, there's going to be something, somewhere to frustrate you at almost all times. In the current season, I can think of a few. The time-out mechanics in the sim leave a LOT to be desired. It could just be observer bias, but I feel like I see the team in the lead in the last two minutes of any given half will purposely spike the ball and call timeouts so they can punt the ball away and give the opponent more time. A little frustrating, but not much raise to the blood pressure. Losing two home-games against possible future playoff opponents this season was also frustrating. Especially so, because testing the strategies and depth charts used in the game after the fact showed the Otters being favored to win by 78% and 80% in the two games. Homefield advantage in the playoffs is nothing to scoff at, and those games might cause us to miss out on that. Now that's bad luck, but again, my blood pressure is doing alright. What really gets my goat is that in the first three seasons of the NSFL, the GM's that won the Ultimus also won the GMs of the Year award (shared in S1 with the other Ultimus team). In Season 4, 5, when the Otters won the Ultimus? The LOSING GMs won the award! As GM of the Ultimus victor, the Orange County Otters, I somehow missed out on the prestigious award twice to the guy my team beat to get there! That'll flabbergast the best of us and definitely cause a minor spike in my blood pressure. Maybe someday I'll step out of the shadow of the greatest ever Head Coach @timeconsumer and earn some respect as an effective CHAMPION General Manager. Code: 296 (S6) - PT4 - Frustrations - Toasty - 03-08-2018 I am new to the NSFL and in my first game I got four tackles and got a win against the mighty Tijuana Luchadores. Then we moved on to play the fierce Palm Beach Solar Bears and we took an lose and I felt at hand because I under performed and got one tackle and I hope in tonight's sim I get at least six tackles. I can just imagine what it is like to be on a team like to be on a team like the Tijuana Luchadores or the Palm Beach Solar Bears losing all those games and it is not close large margin gaps. I feel lucky to be on a successful team like the Portland Pythons, but also frustrated I didn't find this sooner so I could make a run for Defensive Rookie of the Year. I also would like to see more of the field because as a Speed Linebacker, I feel, I should be a key asset to this team and not a guy to backup that one guy (I know my General Manager has a better connection to this game than that). I feel by the end of this season I could really be a guy the opposing offenses should be scared of and that will be frustrating because I can't sneak up on the opposing team because they will have prepared for me. 231 Words (S6) - PT4 - Frustrations - Alfredo_Pasta - 03-08-2018 Okay so here I am today writing to vent a little and talk about some of the frustrations that have been happening around the team. Now before i start discussing I want to assure I'm not calling anyone out in my team, just venting a little. When I got drafted by the wraiths they were the best team in the league. Or second best at least. And this is has been rough to say the least. We finally have caught back up to five hundred with a record of four four and one. At one point we were two four and one. It was definitely frustrating. Nothing we had been doing was working and it sucked for sure. And tying against one of the worst teams in the league is frustrating and embarrassing. We should have blown them out but instead we tied. It just seems like our offense isn't clicking yet. Maybe we will soon. We probably just need some more time together to build chemistry. Same thing with our defense. But we are on the rise again. So it may have been frustrating but hopefully not for much longer. And this is the end of me venting about my frustrations so thank you for listening along with me. Words:210 (S6) - PT4 - Frustrations - Daybe - 03-08-2018 In some aspects for Ryan Applehort, the season is going pretty poorly. Whether it was the rant he had over his awful performances against the Coyotes and Seawolves in week 4 and 5, or getting less than half the snaps at quarterback for his team, it hasn't been reminiscent of his high school days, where he could out throw opposing quarterbacks with ease, make reads fast enough to not get sacked and not throw picks. Applehort has had his fair share of frustration inside and outside the locker room. One time, when he left the weight room after everyone else and walked through the locker room, he smelled a strong scent of pot. Being clean when it comes to drugs/tattoos, he was, well, livid. He stopped, instead of walking through the tunnel doors. Applehort then went to Isaiah Rashad's locker, grabbed it, and ripped the door straight off. He grabbed a bong, which was, of course, the main cause of the smell, and smashed it over his helmet. He noticed there were more smells coming from the back of the locker room. The bots! The fucking bots! The fucking bots were smoking too! The next practice, while Rashad complained of his helmet smelling like pot, He grabbed the giant hose used by the groundskeepers and sprayed the bots until they short-circuited. Needless to say, when Roly and run_CMC found about what Applehort did, they just shook their heads. (S6) - PT4 - Frustrations - Bzerkap - 03-09-2018 Well it's been a damn struggle for the Wraiths earlier this season. We tried to be a little more balanced this season and produce a strong running game, but the sim gods just shit on us for it. We tied with NOLA for christ sake. It was a really really bad start. We started the season at 2-4-1, with three straight losses to Otters, SJS, and @SJS. Really sad for everyone involved as the hopes have been super high this season. The sim doesn't seem to like 100% rushing teams; we are a QB driven league. Well those frustrations are turning around as we beat the Otters in their place and then beat the Outlaws at home which is a nice change of pace. Unfortunately we aren't the same team we were, we're still running the ball but Kennedy is now a full time receiver, and we are definitely throwing it more again. I just hope I can rip off some big runs to make teams at least respect the ground game. This sim is merciless and does not care who you are, as we found in the first 7 weeks. All we can do is hope we've made the right decisions to win the rest of our games. (S6) - PT4 - Frustrations - Roly - 03-09-2018 Its been incredibly frustrating GMing with @run_CMC. This guy is just incredible. He is constantly in the booze, the drugs … so many drugs. Drugs I haven’t even heard about. What is a pwillyzizzle? He has them. Constantly muttering to himself about the damn field goals. You would think he was kicking field goals in a war, the way they’ve changed him. I remember when I first met him in the Arizona Outlaws locker room when we were both rookies. He was a shiny, excited kid. So innocent. Now those field goals nightmares have led to insomnia so the staff at in San Antonio keep complaining about him wandering the halls at night, attempting to find someone to talk to about how no matter how many performance enhancing drugs he takes, aka TEPS, he never gets any better. Then the bottle comes out and at least the memories of field goals fade. He also always comes into the war room in San Antonio sloshed, just muttering to himself about running backs in the slot. I swear if he wasn’t a kicker he would be a running back and demand to play in the slot. But yeah, he’s a good guy. Quote:200 words (S6) - PT4 - Frustrations - ExemplaryChad - 03-09-2018 For any member of the Yeti organization, it’s easy to guess what our biggest frustrations are. The primary one for everyone that I know of is obviously our 0-9 record. As I’ve said before, winning cures all ills, and we have been doing very little winning. So let’s take that one as a given and move on to something that might be a little more personal in nature. My biggest frustration, other than not winning any games, has been my injury setbacks this year. Knee injuries, shoulder injuries, back injuries -- I’ve been plagued this year more than any other point in my career. In college, I never had anything more significant than a knee scope. In the DSFL, I got hurt almost right away, and that took me out for the first few weeks of the season, hence some other guys getting a jump on me and getting on the field earlier. My first two years it the NSFL, my health has been pretty near perfect. I’ve had scrapes and bruises just like everyone else, but nothing major. This year has been a different story. I haven’t missed any games, and I’m knocking on wood to hope that that keeps being the case. But I’ve been tweaking joints and waking up more sore than usual on a fairly regular basis. It’s just meant missing practices and training sessions, but those are things that I still desperately need this early in my career. Everyone has to deal with injuries sometime, but it’s fairly new for me, and it’s a real frustration. (Out of character: I keep having PC troubles and missing updates and/or PTs. :-( But now it should be getting better. Whoop!) Haruki Ishigawa Word count: 259 (S6) - PT4 - Frustrations - PDXBaller - 03-09-2018 You want to know what real frustration is? It’s drafting the most amazing class of rookies in the DSFL, keeping most of them engaged all season, creating the best DSFL team ever and losing in the Ultimini championship. That’s what real frustration is. As the general manager of the Pythons, I put together an incredible team last season consisting of Austin Roenick at quarterback, Dwayne Aaron and Blessed Storm for wide receivers, Glenn McPoyal at tight end, Borro Gore at runningback and Norman Bagwell for defensive tackle with Bobby Ruckus at safety. This was the best offensive team the DSFL had ever seen and we lost to the goddamn Palm Beach Solar Bears because they started the season off with too much TPE. By not testing thoroughly, this bot team was able to decimate the competition and even though the Pythons had the most active team and best team overall that season, we couldn’t beat them in the Ultimini championship at home! With home field advantage, we couldn’t beat them. It was incredibly infuriating and I was fuming from losing that game and mostly letting down my guys. I worked really hard to help them win a championship, but in the end it didn’t matter. We were doomed to lose to bot teams from the start of the season because 70 TPE with 2 GM player bots was too high for us to overcome. |
