(S9) - Weekend PT 5 - Bad Investments - Dawegg - 08-12-2018 Playing quarterback isn't nearly as lucrative as Brad Pennington had thought it would be. Switiching from linebacker was supposed to put him on center stage and help him become the face of an NSFL team. However, advertising deals can only cover so much. The time and effort into fully devoting Brad into a quarterback probably cost him a few million dollars when he's only making $1 million a year and top linebackers easily secure upwards of four million. It's not that big of a deal in the short term as it's possible to at least make an attempt to live frugally but future earnings are easily called into question. Quarterbacks have higher earning ceilings, but on average linebackers likely make significantly more. There's nothing really to regret about the switch other than that it prevents some past moments of embarassment and anguish. Cash ultimately doesn't matter that much without a legacy. that actually means something in the end. Quote:Word Count: 158 (S9) - Weekend PT 5 - Bad Investments - enigmatic - 08-12-2018 Adriana is by far the richest person her family has ever known. This has caused many of her relatives whom she presumed dead to miraculously return to life. This was the case of her uncle Roberto, her mother's youngest brother. The last time she saw him, she was around six. Roberto was the coolest. But he suddenly disappeared. The entire family just assumed he had been killed by the mafia. Turns out, it was half true. He had borrowed money from an important family, the Francos, to open a strip club in Assisi, a town that is well known for its religious history. When his club unsurprisingly failed and that he couldn't keep paying his mafia overlords, he was shot and presumed killed. Anyway, he resurfaced some months ago and said he needed money to pay the Francos and be able to live a normal life again, without being afraid of being shot (again) and this time dying if the mafia found out he was still alive. Adriana gave him the money he asked for, and instead of actually using it to clear his debts, he reopened a strip club in Monte Sant'Angelo, a similar town with just a smaller population. They found his body the night after the opening, with the signature Franco "F" carved in his cheek. So yeah, that didn't go as expected. (S9) - Weekend PT 5 - Bad Investments - Beaver - 08-12-2018 So yeah there was a time when Blackford Oakes was a young impressionable wide eyed newcomer to professional sports when he was susceptible to make bad investments such as the time that he lent his childhood friend a couple hundred thousand dollars to help get his start up get going and he didn't even think twice about how 23andMe but for pizza probably isn't exactly a service that's in demand but you live and learn you know and eventually Oakes' experience saying "No" to his friends was one of the reasons he survived the Las Vegas Legion mass retirement when his friend Connor Tanner forced ~TOTALLY ACTIVE AND CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF THE LEAGUE~ to retire against their will because he was able to tell Tanner "No" which Tanner still hasn't forgiven him for but you know what it was totally worth it even though Tanner is continually trying to sabotage his career. Code: 152 words (S9) - Weekend PT 5 - Bad Investments - Molarpistols - 08-12-2018 Gus T.T. Showbiz is generally rather intelligent with his money, borderline frugal or cheap. He maintains a strongly diversified portfolio of stocks and bonds to ensure he can retire peacefully once it comes time. Not terribly long ago though, Gus got a little tired of his brokerage firm only gaining him minimal interest on his investments, and he decided to give himself a shot at investing. Showbiz downloaded the Robinhood app on his cell-phone, uploaded some money and proceeded to start investing. He always heard options trading was a risky investment, but it can also be extremely lucrative if the market goes the way you bet on. Overall, it's about the same as putting your money on a blackjack table. Anyway, Gus thought for sure he'd hit on this really great idea he had. He dropped his entire Robinhood account into an option, trying to get a quick reward. He decided to go a little risky, but with a good chance of paying out as the stock was going up, and it didn't seem it'd go down anytime soon. He made a Call Option for 2 weeks out, and after week one, it looked like he was going to double or triple his money. The Option looked great! And then disaster struck, the next week, the day before the Option expires, the stock plummeted and Gus lost his entire investment. (S9) - Weekend PT 5 - Bad Investments - Toasty - 08-12-2018 Well Mason Brown has made some very bad decisions with his money but nothing tops his move to put 19 million on the S7 Yeti. He made a series of bets with multiple people that the S7 Yeti will out perform the S7 New Orleans Secondline. Out performing meaning a better record. He had this feeling that the Yeti were going to light up the league and everyone wouldn't know what hit them. Well long story the Yeti completely shit the bed and went 0-14 and Secondline got 4 wins and costed Mason Brown a large chunk of his money. Mason Brown has since then gotten smarter with his money by making bets about player performance and some far has only lost one aspect of in those bets and that being a sacks category of it with Angus Winchester. Mason to this day is still trying to get his money back from those bets with more bets you could say that he is a betting addict he says he doesn't like being in the red.(175) (S9) - Weekend PT 5 - Bad Investments - Moosecop - 08-12-2018 Bucky Barnes has gotten himself into some horrible money situations. You'd think a guy that has made $15 million in a little over 2 professional seasons (2 DSFL contracts and $5 million in my rookie year) wouldn't be struggling for money, however, everyday Barnes looks at his bank account and sweats over how low it's getting. Where does the money go you ask? Well, into something that he's been conditioned to believe he "needs": training and equipment. Every week the team requires him to pay them back either $1 million or $500 thousand a week in order to use the team's facilities and practice with the team. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Not only that, the NSFL and DSFL have very specific equipment that the players can use each year at exorbitant prices. You're trying to tell me the cleats I bought in the offseason cost $3 million? Who is making them? Bill Gates? Anyway, Barnes is in too deep so he's going to keep paying but heed his warning: buying training and equipment is a bad idea, don't get sucked down the rabbit hole. (S9) - Weekend PT 5 - Bad Investments - mckee29 - 08-12-2018 Antonio Summer is normally the type of person to be reserved and calculate choices before he makes them, but on one occasion after having too many drinks at a bar, Summer found himself the next morning $100,000 deep in a timeshare in Costa Rica. The premise behind the time share was a hangover bar just off the beach where drunk tourists could go the morning after a night out to be filled with IV fluids, drink fruit smoothies and take shots from an oxygen bar which would get them prepared within the hour for another fun night out on the town or at the water. This idea even in the morning seemed like it had potential until later in the week Antonio received an email from the person to whom he had transferred the money with an attached picture of the completed bar which couldn't qualify as more than a tiki hut and likely had a price tag below the $2000 range, thus stealing the money right out from under his nose. (S9) - Weekend PT 5 - Bad Investments - BWIII - 08-12-2018 There's a rumor going around that Brock Weathers' position change actually was a forced move due to the results of one of his worst investments ever. After hearing about this rumor we investigated and have confirmed this as truth. The investment was for a supplement that was supposed to help him cut and bulk at the same time. Trying to get any competitive advantage possible he though this sounded like a great idea and he dumped a ton of money into it to get the product to market. After he started using the supplement though he instantly ballooned to well over 300 pounds in a matter of weeks. He was unable to really shed any of this weigh and when he showed up for preseason training camp the coaches had no other option than to move him to the defensive line. I'm told that Brock is still taking the rest of the supplements he has left to this day due to the embarrassment of investing in it and unwilling to just flush the rest of his stock. (S9) - Weekend PT 5 - Bad Investments - JVMjrDOT - 08-12-2018 All Jordan von Matt ever wanted was a boat. Not a big yacht, but something big enough that could take 4 or 5 of his friends out to sea so they could go fishing and drink for a few hours. They say the two happiest days owning a boat are when you buy it, and when you sell it. Jordan unfortunately learned that the hard way. He spent $15,000 to buy his dream boat, equipped with all the features he wanted. He was so excited to take it out on the lake and waste away the day with two of his best friends. Unfortunately, the three of them got just a little bit too drunk that afternoon. While trying to dock the boat, Jordan accidentally accelerated into the dock, breaking both the dock and punching a giant hole in the hull of his brand new boat. Slowly but surely, the boat sank to the bottom of the lake. Jordan and his friends were lucky and managed to get off of it, but that damage was done. Jordan is now hoping for a big contract next season so he can try again with another boat. (S9) - Weekend PT 5 - Bad Investments - manicmav36 - 08-12-2018 Being a professional athlete means that Owen Taylor has always taken a keen interest in exercise equipment. He’s always looking to the next big exercise fad or piece of equipment for a way to gain a leg up on the competition. Because this is so well known in the exercise community, companies looking for an investment often come to him to pitch their next big thing. Usually, Taylor says no, but twice he has sad yes. Once was a massive the success. Bowflex approached him about their adjustable weight barbell with was widely called one of the better exercise inventions since 2000. The second time he invested in a product though… not so much. Have you ever heard of the Tug Toner? Maybe you have, it was a huge internet sensation for a couple weeks, but not for a good reason. It’s an interesting device that actually delivers a pretty good upper body exercise, but Taylor was bling to one small thing. When using the device it looks rather…lewd. You know what, just look it up on YouTube. |
