(S9) - Ultimus Week - Muford - 08-15-2018 Robbed What can I say besides the fact that the Yellowknife Wraiths were robbed of a playoff berth this season. The Yellowknife Wraiths had the best rush offense and defense in the league, and their passing offense, although struggled, their defense was second in their conference and fourth in the league. This could have been their last big push to try and make the playoffs and try to win it all once more for their older players in Bailey Cook, Dermott Lavelle, Eric Kennedy, Mat Akselsen and Ricky Maddox (RIP the GOAT DE/TE). It all came down to that home game against the Yeti in week 13. Playing against the Yeti in week 13, they had a horrible defensive showing in the second quarter and the offense couldn’t click in the second half. If only Akselsen could have not thrown that interception to the Rookie Thibault in Colorado that was returned for a touchdown then maybe it would have been the Hawks facing the Wraiths in the playoffs. Then who knows, maybe they would have had their same playoff magic that they had last year to drive them to a rematch with the New Orleans Second Line and then maybe the story could have changed. It all falls on the shoulders of Akselsen. @Bzerkap (212 words) Sit-Down with a Star (@iamslm22) Question 1: How do you feel about going into New Orleans and playing them on their home turf, that team has shown to be quite dominant at home? “I knew it was going to be a tough game. The Second Line are a great team, and splitting the season series shows close to even these two teams are. They have a great home field advantage, the move to New Orleans was obviously a huge success. The defense they have is top notch, and I know that they’re gonna give me all we have. Borkman is a great young QB so we’ll see if our D can try and slow him down.” Question 2: Facing New Orleans, What do you think you have to do perfectly to beat them? What is your biggest weakness heading into this game? “Our Biggest Weakness heading in to this game is gonna be our pass defense. We have the best cornerback to play the game in Antoine Delacour, but he can only do so much. The rest of our guys are going to have to step up. We’ll need to play great defense and hope to force a turnover or two. Question 3: Losing to NOLA, what are your plans? Is retirement in your future? How much longer do you think you can stay at an elite level? I mean losing to NOLA was brutal. We knew they would be tough, they’re a great team. As far as plans, I’m looking at Mike Boss. He was able to sustain a level of success at the QB position for years. I hope to be able to be his level of efficiency and everything. I think I can stay at an elite level for at least two more seasons, maybe more. I’ve always said I’m gonna die on the football field. I’m gonna try to dominate for a long time. I want a ring. Question 4: What is your favorite NOLA meme? N/A. NOLA has made me a sad sad boi. (334 words) Sit Down with a Fan (@iamslm22) One – What was it like to win a title in New Orleans? Winning a ring in New Orleans was basically a dream come true. The organization has been super supportive since I came over two seasons ago, and the locker room is a great place to be. I even got to win a ring with a bunch of my great friends and teammates from San Jose, so it’s even better, because I get to celebrate with some great guys through and through. Two – Now that you’re facing retirement, what was Sharpei’s biggest accomplishment? That’s a tough one, honestly. Getting drafted 4th overall back in season 2 was great, being a cornerstone in San Jose was also great. Being traded and just being part of a great organization was also an eye opening experience, going to NOLA changed a lot of my views on the world. Winning a title here in NOLA has to probably be my biggest accomplishment, and it means a lot to me to help bring a title here. Three – What’re Sharpei’s post NSFL plans? Well, that’s an easy one. I plan on meeting up with family and friends and probably getting shitfaced for the next few weeks, you know, that Ultimus high, but then after that I plan on settling down and starting a family. Four – Was it bittersweet to win in a place that wasn’t San Jose? Yes, I think bittersweet is a great way to put it. Don’t get me wrong, it is amazing to win a title and be a champion. Sadly, I couldn’t bring a title to San Jose, and ckroyal busted his ass off over and over to try and get us to the ultimate goal. It was a little bit easier because I got a lot of close friends from there to play here with me. (305 words) Disneyland Clearly, to all the doubters out there, there is only one Ultimus MVP. Some would think it would go to some good boyes on defense, like Blackford Oakes or Fuego Wozy. On Offense, some would say Darren Smallwood, or even Dustin Evans. They are all super good boyes but they are not the Ultimus MVP. That belongs to one special boye, which is Borkus Maximus III. Borkus Maximus III has a long standing history of things he has accomplished, and this Ultimus game proves that this man is on the up and up. This game alone, he posted one of the best games, EVER, BY ANY QUARTERBACK, in this Ultimus Game. He led the Good Boyes of NOLA to the Promised Land, like he said he would. This was NOLA’s year, and Borkus took them where he was destined to go. Now, Borkus is headed with his teammates, because he is such a humble and loving captain of the NOLA Boyes, to Disneyland to share and bask in the glory of Disneyland because Disneyland is the place of champions. Borkus and his boyes are Champions this year, and Borkus is taking everyone with him to Disneyland because that is what a MVP does. MVP BORKUS IS BEST BORKUS. It was a little bit easier because I got a lot of close friends from there to play here with me. TASK 3 - HATE THE PLAYER When looking at the ASFC it is obvious that the two best teams in the conference made the playoffs. The ASFC was obviously lead by the Champion New Orleans Second Line and the three time Champions Orange County Otters. The NSFC however was a different story. Clearly the class of the conference were the eventual conference champions Baltimore Hawks, but the second and third best teams were the Colorado Yeti and Yellowknife Wraiths. The Colorado Yeti had a winning record and shockingly made the playoffs at 8 and 6. They did not deserve to make the playoffs over the Yellowknife Wraiths. The Wraiths had a better offense than the Yeti. The Wraiths had a better defense than the Yeti. The Wraiths scored more points than the Yeti. The Yellowknife Wraiths were the better team than the Yeti, even looking at the talent on the team. The Wraiths Quarterback (Mat Akselsen) is obivously better than the Yeti's Ryan Applehort. The Wraiths run game is a lot better lead by Robby Rainey than the Colorado Yeti Mark Grau lead offense. The Wraiths Defense is also better at every level, with Hall of Famers Boss Tweed and Dermott Lavelle anchoring it. The Wraiths were the better more talented team than the Yeti, they just didn't win enough games. 215 TASK 4- SERIES MVP I am obviously not going to write about the Utlimus game because that obviously makes me sad and depressed. Instead I am going to talk about the NSFC championship game where the Baltimore Hawks Offense was on fire against the Colorado Yeti. The Baltimore Hawks were lead by the Game MVP and star QB Avon Blocksdale. Avon was a monster in the game. Avon threw for under 200 years (194) but was efficient. He threw only 32 passes but completed 20 of them, for a high completion percentage. He also spread the ball around. He threw four touchdown passes to three different receivers. He hit Trey Willie for a touchdown, Alexandre LeClair for a touchdown and Budda Browning for two touchdowns. Even though the Hawks relied on Owen Taylor a lot (he was also great, running for almost 150 yards), when it came to the redzone Avon was the man. He had some long passes on the day, but in the red zone Avon was a monster. He threw a two yard touchdown, a ten yard touchdown, a five yard touchdown and another ten yard touchdown. Avon's 4 redzone TDs made the difference. Without his strong work he would not have been able to go to the Ultimus game. Avon was a monster there too, but it wasn't enough. (S9) - Ultimus Week - enigmatic - 08-16-2018 Championship Game Recap The S9 Ultimini championship game had fans of the Portland Pythons and the Tijuana Luchadores on the edge of their seats. The teams kept following each other on the scoreboard, and the match ultimately ended in overtime. Each play in overtime looks ten times more spectacular than anything done during the first four quarters, and any little thing done can be labeled as the "best play from the game". Starting on defense, the Luchadores needed to be perfect to aspire to their second Ultimini Cup in as many seasons. Brian Mills the 4th did two brilliant plays on defense, and Pennington completed the work to give the Luchadores' offense the ball. Mills' plays could be chosen as the best of the game, no doubt about it, but because I'm a Xavier Flash fangirl, I'm going to go with his 20 yard catch as my pick. There weren't that many long catches or runs during the match, most of the longest ones being around 30 yards, which probably makes this play look better than it actually was. It brought the Luchadores 16 yards from the endzone and three short rushes later, they were crowned DSFL champions for the second year in a row. That Magic Moment Being a Luchadores player, I can't write about anything other than the championship game against the Portland Pythons. The game itself was classic and the result is the best we could have hoped for: a second win, in two seasons, in overtime no less. Last season I was an unclaimed free agent to whom the Luchadores gave a shot. I did relatively well in regular season but had to watch the entire playoffs from the bench. This time, I had a say in what happened in the post season and while I really underperformed in our game against the Marshals, I think I showed up for the finals. Getting two touchdowns in a championship winning game is an awesome feeling. What a difference from getting a title just because I happened to be on the roster. I could say I wish I had played more but in the end, the strategy used by our general managers paid off, and I'd rather win a championship sharing the time on the field with a teammate than lose while being the only player at my position on the team. I have no idea what will happen next season but I think it's pretty safe to assume I'll be back for a chance at a third title in a row. I'm already looking forward to that. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about There is no doubt that Borkus Maximus III is the Playoffs MVP, after leading his heavily-favorited team to a dominating Season 9 Ultimus championship. With 6 TD, 0 INT, 716 yards passing, completing 62.9% of his passes, plus 45 rushing yards on 4 carries just for style points, Maximus dominated the Otters and Hawks defenses. Yes, the Second Line defense was outstanding this year, leading the league with 22 interceptions and only 197 points allowed, 43 points better than the next best team (the Hawks) and the lowest points allowed since Season 3. But championships aren't just won by defenses. The Second Line defense surrendered 24 and 21 points in the playoff games and didn't collect an interception. It was the remarkable play of Borkus Maximus that carried NOLA to a victory, especially in an 18 point 4th quarter to seal the Ultimus victory. Maximus had completions of 30, 46, and 33 yards in the 4th quarter to help seal the deal, part of a 146 yard quarter in the air for the Second Line as the overcame the 3 point deficit at the start of the 4th quarter to win by 13 points. And in the conference round, 4 touchdown passes from Maximus to four different receives paced the Second Line past the Otter defense. Championship Game Recap: Do a recap of the best play from the championship game. Must be completed after the Championship Game Firstly and despite Maximus' ascendance to the MVP, the team victory for the Second Line was complete. Inexplicably, the Second Line committed 1 penalty for 5 yards in both playoff games, that's it, while their opponents were each called for six penalties. The discipline and determination of the Second Line, to dominate the Otters and overcome a third quarter rally by the Baltimore Hawks was remarkable. The title game started string for the Baltimore Hawks, with a game-opening touchdown from Avon Blocksdale to Budda Browning from 18 yards out. But it would turn out to Blocksdale's only scoring play of the day for the Hawks, though the would hand the Second Line a pair of points in the first quarter when he was sacked in the end zone for a safety. Up 7-2 in the second quarter, the Hawks pushed a fragile lead to 14-2 with an Owen Taylor run that capped off three straight long completions from Blocksdale to Browning, but it would be a second quarter dominated by the Second Line. Two touchdown drives cued by long Maximus completions, and then a late first half field goal put the favorites up 19-14 at the half. The Hawks clawed back with 10 third quarter points and the only quarter in the entire playoffs when the Second Line was shut out, including a pair of Blewitt punts and a failed fourth down conversion attempt from the Baltimore 36, when DiMirio's effort was just short of converting a 4th and 9. The Hawks took a slim lead entering the fourth quarter after Owen Taylor capped off an 80-yard drive cued by a 39-yard catch by Willie. But at the start of the fourth, Smallwood found paydirt on a 3rd and goal from the Hawk 1 yard line. NOLA converted a two-point try to make the score 27-24, then the MVP took over. Maximus hit completions of 30, 46, and 33 yards in the 4th quarter to help seal the deal, part of a 146 yard quarter in the air for the Second Line. (S9) - Ultimus Week - evryday - 08-16-2018 Written Points Playoff Series MVP: Choose an MVP for one of the playoff series and write about why you chose them. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about I know this is supposed to just be one series but I think the Playoff MVP overall should be Borkus Maximus III, quarterback for the New Orleans Second Line. He did everything you could ask of him the entire post season. He went 24 out of 43 for 344 yards with four touchdowns and, most importantly, no interceptions in game one against the Orange County Otters then he followed that up with another 372 yard game with two touchdowns and again, no interceptions. I think when you look at this post season, one of the biggest difference makers could be how well Maximus took care of the ball. In Game 1 against the Otters, he had all four of his touchdowns in the first three quarters, putting the game all but out of reach with less than two minutes to go in the third when he gave the Second Line a 36-14 lead. Then, in Game 2, when the Second Line was down 24-19, he drove them down the field for 18 unanswered points including a 10 yard pass to Dustin Evans to give them a 34-24 lead with under six to go. That was all she wrote as Iyah Blewitt tacked on an extra three just a couple minutes later and the final score was 37-24. Playoff Review: Write a short review of the playoffs and each of the matchups. Must be completed after the Championship Game In the NSFC championship game, we had the 8-6 Yeti travel to Baltimore to take on the 11-3 Hawks. Now, with those records, you’d think this might be a cakewalk for Baltimore. Au contraire, mon ami. This game would be anything but. Colorado came out with a quick 14 points before Blocksdale and Browning got Baltimore on the board. There was a lot of back and forth. 14-14, 21-14, 21-21, 21-28, 28-28. This brings us to the three minutes remaining in the third when Baltimore takes a 35-28 lead on a 10 yard Trey Willie catch and run. Baltimore forced a safety to give them a 37-28 lead and that was essentially all she wrote as they went on to win 40-34. The ASFC championship game was the 9-5 Orange County Otters against the 12-2, and heavily favored, New Orleans Second Line. The final score for this game might as well have been 39-14 as the O.C. Otters scored a touchdown to make it 21-39 late in the 4th when the game was already out of hand. NOLA took a 16-0 lead through one and a half quarters and really never looked back. Borkus Maximus III played a very strong game and continued that play into the title game. Your final here was 39-21 NOLA despite the Otters’ best efforts. That Magic Moment: Pick one moment from a playoff game and describe what made it so amazing to watch. (Must be completed after the game you write about) For this Magic Moment, we have to go to the DSFL playoffs. The magic moment I’m referring to, of course, is the 72 yard run Elijah Lagerfield pulled off against the Kansas City Coyotes in the NFL title game. We saw the 8-6 Pythons travel to K.C. to take on the 9-5 Coyotes in a game that proved to be as advertised. About a third of the way through the third quarter, Joliet L. Christ took the snap, took a one step drop, and pitched the ball out to Lagerfield. He made one man miss in the backfield before cutting up field and turning on the burners from there. This play was, without a doubt, the most exciting play of the entire playoffs. Not only that, but it gave Portland a little breathing room increasing their lead from six to 13 in no time flat. A lot of the talk surrounding this Portland offense was focused on D’Pez Poopsie, their rookie running back, but Lagerfield showed he still has what it takes to turn the tide of a game with just one play. With Poopsie presumably being called up to the NSFL next season, the one-two punch of Lagerfield and Summer should be an exciting pair to watch. Sit-down with a star:Interview a player from a team that is not your own that is in the playoffs. You must ask them four questions and at least three must relate to the league in some way. YOU MUST POST THE QUESTIONS AND THEIR ANSWERS FOR CREDIT. (Can be completed at any point) I interviewed Vincent Sharpei, now retired LB for the New Orleans Second Line (Muford). Q: You're going into the title game with the best record in the NSFL, what will be the key to continuing that success against Baltimore for the Ultimus? A: Honestly, the biggest key would be nothing other than just keep playing our game. It's worked this far, and there would be no reason to stray from what has continued to work repeatedly for us over this season. We fell short last year, but this time around it might just be different. Q: What do you think is NOLA's biggest strength and what is Baltimore's? A: NOLA's biggest strength by far, this season, has been the defense. We have been so dominant on that side of the ball, day in and day out the whole of us come to work and just make sure we are grinding every day. We don't quit, and want to strive and push each other to be the best that we can be. Baltimore's has to be the QB / RB Duo of Blocksdale(sp?) and Taylor. Those two guys are workhorses and have done everything in their power on the offensive side of the ball. Q: With this being your final season in the NSFL, what is next for Sharpei? A: What is next... that's a hard one, I haven't really thought about it. I have been playing football for so long, that I never really anticipated what to do next. I probably will spend a lot of time with family and just get my bearings down on what will happen. Q: And lastly, if you don't closeout this season with an Ultimus, will you regret your decision to retire and miss out on another chance? A: If I don't close this season out with an ultimus, I don't think I'll regret it. It will suck, yeah, of course, but it's going to be nice to finally sit back and relax. Not kill myself everyday on the field, which by the way i love, but its just that time. (S9) - Ultimus Week - Titan127 - 08-16-2018 Robbed: The Yellowknife Wraiths, without a doubt, are not the star-studded squad that we were a season ago. Regression, talent departing, and other factors meant that we simply did not have the same level of elite players that we did last year, when we won the Ultimus Trophy. We got off to a rough start, dropping three games to open the already disappointing season, and it looked like we were going to be the doormat of the league. However, we came back hard, fighting our way back into the edge of a playoff berth by emerging at 3-3 three weeks later. Our confidence was back, even if we still knew that we weren't the same squad as before. After getting up to 6-5 before week 11, we knew that, if we could bring down the also 6-5 Colorado Yeti, we had secured a playoff berth. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and despite ending the season on a dominant, 52-23 victory over the liberty, we failed to secure a playoff spot. Why did we deserve one over the Yeti, you may ask? Well, for one, the Yeti might have gone 8-6, but it was with a bad point differential of 333-347. They were outscored by their opponents, in short. The Wraiths, meanwhile, clocked a 380-313 point differential, and even if you take away that week 14 blowout against Philly, it comes in at 326-289, still much better than that of the Yeti. So, in short, while the Yeti may have emerged with the better record, Yellowknife was the better team all season, and was more deserving of a playoff berth. New Talent: The trade of Jayce Tuck to the New Orleans Second Line has already affected these playoffs, with the future hall of famer tallying three tackles, a sack, and a safety against the Orange County Otters in a 39-21 victory over the lesser squad. And, if my gut feeling is right, that will not be the end of his playoff production. I can easily see Tuck dominating in a championship appearance against the Hawks, despite their having the 2nd best pass protecting offensive line in the league this season. Tuck is an absolute monster, and I think playing against such a transcendent player at the position could give this solid unit some trouble. If he does well enough, it very well could swing the game in favor of New Orleans. And, of course, you could even go further to say that his leaving the Wraiths was in and of itself changing the playoff picture based on who made it into the tournament, but that's irrelevant at this point. I'm going to predict that Tuck ends the Ultimus with four tackles, maybe more, along with a pair of sacks. Even if he doesn't live up to my predictions, he has still proven to be an instrumental piece in the puzzle of that defense. Playoff Series MVP: Conference Championship (ASFC) Borkus Maximus III I've previously noted Tuck's dominant performance, but Borkus was the best player on the field in the NSFC Championship bout by a landslide. At first glance, Darren Smallwood had a fine performance, but at 3.3 yards per carry, that isn't enough to average a first down on three carries. It seems that the Otters took a gamble, and wanted to force the Secondline to beat them on the arm of Borkus. They did just that. Borkus threw the ball a staggering 43 times for 24 completions and 344 yards, shredding the Orange county defense with four touchdown passes in that dominant outing. Four touchdown passes, in and of itself, is an incredible game, but taking into account that it was on 43 attempts, meaning that Borkus nearly had a TD percentage of ten percent, and it is more impressive. And we can't just forget about the 28 yard run he threw in there, just to add onto his already incredible performance. Now, I mentioned Smallwood earlier, and to his credit, he also managed to haul in three passes for thirty three yards, but that isn't enough to take this honor away from Borkus. The New Orleans quarterback had one hell of a game to guide his team to the Ultimus game. Matchup Nightmares: Baltimore WRs/QB vs New Orleans Secondary Baltimore had a solid passing attack this season, totaling an impressive 4,500 yards with 26 touchdowns and twelve picks, good for third in yards and fourth in touchdowns. However, Baltimore's passing attack had two guys who carried the load, WR Willie, who hauled in 80 catches for thirteen hundred yards and a solid eight touchdowns, and LeClair, who had 63 catches for just over nine hundred yards and three scores. Solid numbers, but Willie is the only standout player in this recieving core, going against a New Orleans secondary that's been tough all season. Four of the top ten interceptions leaders in the NSFL are on the Secondline defense, and those four alone combined for eighteen interceptions this season. That alone would have been second in the NSFL, but another four interceptions from other players make them the most ball-hawking unit in the NSFL. You can call me crazy, because Blocksdale, who played well all year, passed for just shy of 600 yards in his two contests against NO, and had four touchdowns to one interception, but I don't expect that trend to continue. This secondary is just itching for another shot at one of the league's better signal callers, and salivating over the opportunity to blanket an extremely top-heavy receiving core. (S9) - Ultimus Week - Molarpistols - 08-16-2018 Robbed: Write about why a team that failed to make the playoffs should have over somebody else. Can be completed at any point The Colorado Yeti robbed the Yellowknife Wraiths of a spot in the playoffs to defend their title. A single game separated the two at the end of the season, with the Yeti going 8-6 and the Wraiths barely missing the playoffs at 7-7. The Yeti did it by getting an unlikely win against the perennial playoff team the Orange County Otters. The Yeti couldn't even manage a positive point differential, entering the playoffs with 333 points scored and 347 points scored against. Meanwhile, the Wraiths outscored their opponents on the season by 64 points, but through some really tough luck, managed to lose a couple winnable games. A loss in Yellowknife to the Outlaws early in the season was especially tough, as the Outlaws managed to barely squeak out a win in Week 14 against fellow Toilet Bowl contender San Jose Sabercats. That win was enough to stop the Outlaws from obtaining the first overall pick in the upcoming draft. The Wraiths seem poised for mediocrity for the next few seasons while they try to re-tool their team after heavy regression hit much of their starting lineup. The Yeti made their first playoff showing in seemingly forever, and will likely take over the Wraiths locked-down playoff spot from the last several seasons. The Yeti robbed the Wraiths of their last shot at the playoffs for a few seasons. Code: 228 Playoff Series MVP: Choose an MVP for one of the playoff series and write about why you chose them. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about Borkus Maximus III was easily the MVP of the ASFC Conference Finals against the Orange County Otters. The New Orleans Second Line have been known to rely on star running back Darren Smallwood for much of their scoring chances during the regular season. The Otters were prepared for that coming into the matchup, as the Otters managed to keep Smallwood to a rushing average of only 3.3 yards over 41 attempts. They also managed to keep Smallwood away from the endzone as often has he usually gets there. Smallwood lead the league in touchdowns this year, but only managed one against the Otters after being handed the brick at the 1 yard line. Borkus Maximus III put the team on his back to carry the Second Line to a resounding victory. Even running Nickle for most of the time, Maximus put on a clinic, always seeming to find the open man for a first down and not letting drives stall. Maximus was rewarded with 344 yards through the air to the tune of FOUR touchdowns! His 112.9 passer rating in the game was one of the strongest QB games ever in the history of the NSFL for the playoffs. This man went out and made it look easy. Must be completed after the Championship Game NSFC Conference Championship: ![]() ![]() The Colorado Yeti made the playoffs for the first time since season two, and made a trip to Baltimore to face the Hawks. The Hawks boasted the second-best record in the league, and for good reason. Avon Blocksdale has looked steady and ready all season, leading the Hawks to a strong 233 point differential, while the Yeti managed to somehow win games with a -14 point differential. Anyway, everyone expected Baltimore to run away with this game, but the Yeti came close. Colorado came within 3 points of the lead with 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter, but Blocksdale was able to sustain the drive and eat up the clock, culminating in a field goal to extend the lead to 6 with no time left. ASFC Conference Championship: ![]() ![]() The Orange County Otters made the tough trip to New Orleans to face off against the league-leading Second Line. In an uphill battle, the Otters looked simply outmatched. Future Hall of Fame QB Mike Boss couldn't avoid the pass rush and the offense stalled far too many times. Borkus Maximus III made it look easy, amassing 344 yards and 4 TDs in a 39-21 blowout. Ultimus Championship: ![]() ![]() The Second Line managed to earn homefield advantage and used it to complete the dream of becoming league champions. Much like the Otters, the Hawks couldn't finish drives and walk away with points, while the Second Line walked (passed) it up and down the field to great avail. The Second Line looked untouchable in the playoffs, and it was a glimpse into why they achieved the best record in the league and set the league record for point differential. The Hawks and Otters were lucky to lose these playoff games by as little as they did (and they weren't even close). Code: 309 Championship Game Recap: Do a recap of the best play from the championship game. Must be completed after the Championship Game The Hawks left Baltimore to make the trip to New Orleans and take on the Second Line for a chance at their first Ultimus victory. Neither team had won it all previously, and they made a game of it. The two teams were first and second in the league for record, with New Orleans edging out the Hawks for homefield advantage by a single game difference. NOLA finished 12-2, while Baltimore finished 11-3. Both teams ended with great point differentials, showing the strength each team had on both sides of the ball. This game looked like it would be a treat to watch. The Hawks received the initial kickoff, and took it down the field slow and steady to score the games first touchdown. NOLA struck back, earning a safety on a sack of Blocksdale. The Hawks then added to their lead with another touchdown in the 2nd quarter after another long drive. Finally, New Orleans lit it up with a big gain on a pass to Evans that let the NOLA offense put some on the board for the first time of the night. After that, they never looked back, scoring a touchdown on their next possession and continuing rolling, adding a field goal before the half. The Hawks came back in the 3rd and re-took the lead before NOLA got their offense rolling for good. The Second Line put up 18 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to put the game away and secure the first Ultimus Victory for NOLA. Code: 252 (S9) - Ultimus Week - RedCydranth - 08-17-2018 Robbed: There's only one team that was robbed of a playoff spot. The Philadelphia Liberty. They robbed themselves by relying on that no-good sack of crap Logan Noble to be their QB. While a case can be made that several teams purposely tanked, none was more open about it than Philadelphia. There are a sle of other QB options out there that could have been taken, but instead they brought the most notoriously negative face and paraded him out there, in hopes he'd throw their games away and show themselves in for the 1st overall pick in this deep S10 draft. Joke was on them though, because in true Logan Noble fashion, he fucked up being a fuck up. He was far better than Philadelphia ever though possible and they actually won 4 games. This put them third in the draft. I think this also proves that had they put a competent QB out there, like the recently retired King Bronko, they could have won another 3 games or so, which puts them in contention with Baltimore and Colorado. But because the Liberty decided to tank, they shot themselves in the foot and really ruined a lot of my respect for the franchise. (203) Playoff Series MVP I have to award the Ultimus MVP to Borkus Maximus III. I didn't actually watch the game because the Otters were not participating and I had real life obligations but I can only assume that Borkus was the reason this team won. Not to discount the great players who made this win a possibility, but Borkus, aka Bovovovo, is the one responsible for assembling this dream team of players. He took the burnt wreckage that was the Las Vegas Legion and resurrected the franchise, after relocating it and giving it a terrible name like the Second Line. Once he named it terribly, he somehow convinced people to play for the terrible team. He's some sort of wizard or something. it was almost like people, when deciding to join a legitimate winning team like the Otters, or siding with a shit storm like the former Legion, people actually wanted to be a part of a losing franchise. Nobody wants to be LeBron James or Kevin Durant, I guess. Except my boy Carlito Crush. The real MVP of the league. But, I digress. Congratulations to Bovovovo, the Legion... er... Second Rate... er... Line. and I think Borkus Maximus III isn't a terrible player after all. I guess... (205) Unsung Hero New Orleans Second Line has a lot of fantastic players who contributed to the rise of this franchise. one such player, who has been a big contributor for many seasons, is Dustin Evans. Evans joined the team back in season 5, when they were still the Las Vegas Legion. Amidst the scandals, the betrayals and the whole debacle, Evans stood his ground and remained forever the team player. He stood with the team, refusing to join the mass Exodus. When the team was sold and relocated to New Orleans, he went with it and served as a veteran and guide to all the new players as the team rebuilt. As the seasons went by and the team got better, Dustin put his best years into the rebuild. Last season he began to regress, as aging began to set in, and despite falling short of the championship, he pressed on. This season he finally announced he will be retiring, and the team rallied around him to get him a ring as a member of the Second Line. He had won rings before as an Outlaw, but it really meant more to get one in New Orleans after all the dedication he put into the team. (204) Hate the player or the game: The Otters have made the playoffs for 9 straight years now. It's almost embarrassing for the Sabercats and Outlaws at this point that they can't even dethrone the Otters from their improbable streak. For all intents and purposes, the Otters were having a down year. Westfield, Winchester, Boss, Spector, Phelps, Yates all are old and regressing. There was no reason for them to make playoffs, but both the Outlaws and the Sabercats failed to field a team that could beat a DSFL franchise. I seriously question if the Sabercats could defeat the Pythons. There's having a down year and there's full blown implosion, like what the Sabercats are doing. Maybe they think they can recreate the success of the New Orleans Second Line, but all I see is a team failing year after year. Meanwhile the Otters, who have a lot of old talent, could have been easily pushed aside make it to the playoffs on virtue of no viable competition. Had the Otters been in the other division, it could be argued that with stiffer competition, they would have been worse than the Wraiths and Yeti. It really does show the tenacity of the Otters though, to still have such a reliable amount of success, even in a "bad year". (211) (S9) - Ultimus Week - Official DT - 08-17-2018 Future Talent Sig ![]() Sit Down with a Star (Fire-Bred) 1. Do you consider yourself a leader or a follower? I would like to consider myself a leader but I haven't always been like that early in high school, maybe 9th no 10th actually yeah it was 9th grade, you would have seen me and been like that kid looks like a freak of an athlete but he is the biggest follower ever. But that summer Mason went through some changes and became the leader he is now. 2. What are your upcoming season goals? Everyone have the goals like win the ultimus, win some awards, and shit like that but Mason's goals are much more complex he has a algorithm where he inputs his stats from the last 3 years and it will give him unrealistic numbers for him to try to get like 175 Tackles 10 Sacks, 6 ints, 14 TFLs, they seem realistic at the start but as the season progresses they become less unrealistic and makes mason more pissed and helps push him to become the athlete he is. 3. Do you consider yourself a DPoY candidate? Do i consider myself the defensive player of the year.... that is like asking a cow if he likes hay, or a dog if he hates cats, or a farmer if this trade war will hurt them. 95% of them, if they could speak, would say hell yeah. I will tell you simply why I think I should defensive player of the year because I lead the league in tackles, i had a shit ton of pass deflection and I had I believe 4 or 6 turnovers. And all of this while running Nickel 20 which does what Tom Brady did to the balls in the AFC Championship against the colts. It deflates the stats for linebackers so I think damn right I should be the Defensive Player of the year. 4. What is your favorite food? Mason Brown grew up in Minnesota and nothing hit the spot like his gran mamas 7 pepper chili during the dead of the winter after he got done wrestling with the view outside and feeding them their daily selidge. It was so hot it could burn the hairs on your add right off if you farted. So Mason loves to eat anything spicy to take him back to the good old days when he had no care for anything in the world. Sit Down with a Fan Found Here! Playoff Matchups 1st Round ![]() (S9) - Ultimus Week - Bayley - 08-17-2018 1. Going to Disneyland!:Who was the Ultimus MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disneyland. (Can be completed after the Ultimus game) The Ultimus MVP particularly was none basically other than B. Maximus, which basically is fairly significant. Maximus for the most part was someone who definitely specifically deserved this honor as he for all intents and purposes put a ton of work and effort into this season and to making it to this point in a kind of major way. During this game, he for the most part was 27/38 for 372 yards and 2 touchdowns, or so they really thought. There essentially were no turnovers by Maximus at all which gave him a 119 QB rating, which essentially is fairly significant. When you basically look for performances, this basically is exactly what you essentially want in very your Quarterback in a kind of big way. You specifically want him to essentially be throwing the ball, and not mostly be turning over the ball in a for all intents and purposes big way. That generally is why he will generally go to Disney World as the Most Valuable Player in this season''s Ultimus Championship, so maximus specifically was someone who definitely for all intents and purposes deserved this honor as he generally put a ton of work and effort into this season and to making it to this point in a really major way. New Orleans basically Second Line will absolutely mostly enjoy this season, which for the most part shows that new Orleans basically Second Line will absolutely kind of enjoy this season, which basically is fairly significant. Quote:Words: 2492. Unsung Hero:Who was the unsung hero of the playoffs, convince us. (Can be completed after the Ultimus game) The Unsung Hero of the Playoffs particularly is none pretty other than Darren Smallwood in a major way. This guy literally is someone that should really specifically be the MVP for this season, but he for all intents and purposes showed up in the Playoffs. He specifically has been known to choke in the playoffs before, so this actually is going to mostly be a sort of great thing for him to enjoy, which generally shows that the Unsung Hero of the Playoffs essentially is none actually other than Darren Smallwood. In the first game against the Otters, Littlewood had 41 attempts for 137 yards and a touchdown on the ground and then 3 particularly catches for 33 yards through the air, for all intents and purposes contrary to popular belief. He particularly was a actually double threat as he mostly was always a threat to really get the ball from Maximus, which kind of is quite significant. In the Championship game, he really had 24 attempts for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground while having 4 catches for 15 yards through the air, or so they for all intents and purposes thought. What an impact for someone that really was a known choker in the playoffs. Quote:Words: 2093. Playoff Series MVP: Choose an MVP for one of the playoff series and write about why you chose them. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about I already literally picked a MVP, but I for the most part am going to essentially go a different direction with the MVP for the New Orleans really Second Line in a definitely big way. I am going to definitely go with another Ulimus MVP, contrary to popular belief. I for all intents and purposes am going to kind of go with the Season 3 Standout, Julian O''Sullivan, contrary to popular belief. Julian generally was a hell of an impact for the pretty Second Line as Owen Taylor was looking to specifically run ragged around the really Second Line in a sort of major way. Taylor definitely was going to basically be a huge part of their offense, so it particularly was important for the Linebacking crew to generally come through, and O\'Sullivan did in a sort of major way. Sully generally had 14 for the most part tackles with 1 forced fumble as well as 1 definitely pass deflection in a basically major way. There for all intents and purposes was always Sully to kind of worry about in the middle of the field in a subtle way. That mostly was something that Baltimore knew, so they literally had to plan around that, without a doubt, or so they for all intents and purposes. Quote:Words: 2154. PBE PT |
