(S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - Leafer - 06-11-2017 This has been talked by the media for such a long time. First of all, before the season starts, they all wonder about his damn first name. Its crazy. Sensbaughdy is one hell of a name and the media keeps asking about him, making stories about it and all over the sports news. Leafer obviously won't answer the questions about it because its a secret that'll never be shared. This is a problem for him as it will distract him from his big season in the NSFL. Now on the regular season. This preseason sucked and were suppose to be 4-0 but nooooo. Hopefully his team goes for a perfect season and win the championshop because hell that'd be lit. Leafer as a Defensive End wants to be a steal and prove to GM's that didn't draft him on why they suck hard. But who gives a fuck about him. The SaberCats didn't have a great preseason and look to prove that it doesn't matter and prove people that they're right the fact that the Sabercats are number one. Will they shit the bed? Will they be number one? Hell will they even be good? (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - Blaster - 06-11-2017 The Arizona Outlaws, the most underrated team and rightfully so. Going winless in the preseason is not very impressing and most of the games were not even close. They got blown up against most of the teams that they played in the last four weeks of the preseason. Looking at their offense, they are decent at best. Vincent Draxel was doing pretty well with a couple interceptions here and there but averaging about 200 plus yards a game. The Outlaws are trying to establish their running game with not much luck in this two RB rotation. The offensive line also needs to step it up also as without a line, the running backs will have no where to run. The Draxel - Stormblessed connection is something to look at but other than that, the team has no positives on Offense right now. The defense is also mediocre, letting up too many touchdowns and giving the other team too many points. This defense needs to step up if the Outlaws are going to win. The team just cannot force turnovers and cannot create stops. To win in this league, you need to disrupt the other team's tempo and plays. The Outlaws are certainly failing in that department Overall this team needs to get better, and fast. If not, they will be sitting at the bottom of the standings by the end of the season. (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - Aenir - 06-11-2017 It has been a rough preseason, but I am here to put to rest some of the longstanding rumors that have been around during this position battle. First, I would like to address the fact that the competition ended in search warrants and 911 calls... this is factually incorrect. I recall there being no search warrants, but at least four 911 calls... granted not all of them were for us... Our star running back Bubba Nuck locked himself inside of his locker. He claimed he had found a portal into something that wasn't quite Narnia, but close enough to not be sued. We are all very worried about him... My opponent in the position battle is the very capable LeClair, It was a tough battle but in the end I was able to pull it out and gain the starting position. There was no illicit goings on during the battle or prank war as it has been claimed. We only did what we did in the name of fun. Barracudas in cereal, dead hooker in your bed, icy hot inside the helmet.... all in the name of fun of course ![]() ------------------------------ 214 Words (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - Valtookan - 06-11-2017 The Pre-Season is coming to a close and the media is scrambling around trying to figure out top stories and hidden gems to talk about. Yet, one thing that seems to be going overlooked is a discussion about the Arizona Outlaws performance. Now, many would look it over and scoff in disdain; but I see them as one of the strangest wildcard factors in an already unpredictable first NSFL season. Let's take time to review each of their 4 Pre-Season match-ups. First they went against the Orange County Otters: No one expected the Outlaws to win this first game, and they didn't. It when 3-16, but as bad as that sounds you can take a few positives. The Outlaws defense only allowed 1 TD. The team obtained more first downs. Their LBs showed an ability to play gaining 8, 7, and 6 tackles or 21 total tackles between the starters. The LBs even boasted stats like TFL and a punt block. Yet, their offense stalled, despite A Thomas having 8 Pancakes. Against the Colorado Yeti: They fared much better against this team in a 13-17 loss. This game saw their defense make all sorts of plays from tackles, to an INT, to FF, to sacks. Their offense even scored twice and Stormblessed had a 100+ yard receiving game. What ultimately got them was penalties and turning over the ball. Still, a very close match-up. Playing the SaberCats: This was a very disappointing game for the Outlaws as it seem like their first win as they headed into the 4th Quarter. Sadly, their Defense just broke down in the 4th Quarter. Some starts actually never became major factors in the game at all (Ex: LB Harrif Ernston). This game also saw QB V Draxel display one of his worst completion rating games at 18/35. It really seemed like they were going to get the win but late game choking proved otherwise. Vs the Baltimore Hawks: I'm not even going to lie, on the pace the Hawk were on I was expecting an L. Yet, I never dreamed the game would be so close! In the Outlaws 8-9 loss we saw a team go out and FIGHT for at least one win. The Hawks were crushing other teams but the Outlaws gave them their hardest game of the Pre-Season. This game may have even ended in a tie if not for the missed 20-29 yard field goal attempt of the phenomenal Pre-Season kicker Adrienne Nugent. The Arizona defense showed why they obtained draft steals as they held the Hawks to their lowest scoring game allowing no TDs. This defense lead the a 4 game phenomenon Jaylon Lee played their hearts out. Jaylon Lee earned Defensive POG for his maddening performance: 11 Tck, 1 Sck, 1 Sfty. Still, Arizona just couldn't get it done. Arizona is a talented team with special players, they didn't have the highest TPE going into the Pre-Season and it showed. Yet, with an update of TPE going through into the Regular season I am very curious to see how their next few games play out. They are being slept on according to various PT post; but make no mistake they are not a team to be underestimated. Code: 540 Words (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - GoodLeftUndone - 06-11-2017 The Baltimore Hawks are now the team to beat. Prior to Pre-Season kickoff, the Baltimore Hawks were widely projected to finish last by an overwhelming majority of experts. Now however, they have quickly become favorites to finish first after an impressive 4-0 run in their pre-season string of games. They downed the Colorado Yeti 25-3 and the Yellowknife Wraiths 31-10 to start things off in convincing fashion and followed that with closer fought victories against the Orange County Otters (16-9) and Arizona Outlaws (9-8). Offensively it's been the passing game as Scrub Kyubee and Damian West have been torching defenses with the help of a strong running game from the duo of Novel and Robinson. All of this is largely thanks to having arguably the league's best O-Line backing them up. Defensively they have been damn near perfect averaging just under 8 points against them per game. Still a lot of experts are still not sold on the team despite their pre-season dominance saying theirs obvious weaknesses in their game that other teams will exploit eventually. Hawks Receiver Damian West tweeted earlier; "Anyone still counting us out needs to wake up man #Hawks #TakeFlight" Anyone who's a betting man should take West' advice and put their money on these Hawks, they're legit. (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - Noble - 06-11-2017 The biggest story of the entire year will undoubtedly be the quarterback battle of the Orange County Otters. While some critics are leaning to one side more than the other, it has been and will be a close battle through and through for the California based Otters. The tough decision between four stellar quarterbacks was placed on them prior to pre-season after a talent loaded draft class, and the team has thus far handled it well. Continuing this quarterback battle into the regular season, the Otters will need to now decide between the two last players in the running. It's a tough decision, and one the management isn't taking lately. Fans of the team and members of league executive are anxiously awaiting the team's final decision, which should be announced later tonight. On another note, the regular season is sure to be a heated one. NSFC conference's Colorado Yeti and Baltimore Hawks have been signing stellar prospects out of waivers, and the Arizona Outlaws have already grabbed three players off the wire. Continued drive like this from the league's general managers will mean the guaranteed success and prosperity of a league that's already heading in the right direction. As well, the continued addition of young players to this league is an exciting development, and we're looking forward to seeing these youngsters grow and adapt with the league. (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - ckroyal92 - 06-11-2017 Kicking Battle in San Jose? With less than 48 hours until the NSFL regular season is set to begin, you'd think all position battles would be settled, right? Apparently the GMs out in northern California had other ideas. Instead of settling a position battle, the SaberCats' brass went out & created yet another one, signing free agent kicker Jack Vanderjagt. Now while most people outside the organization may see this as a surprise, most within the team welcome the move, as most feared this may have been a weak spot in the SaberCats' depth chart. With all that being said, Vanderjagt will still have to earn his spot if he's going to overtake existing kicker Kentillan Laces. Now, let's break down our 2 competitors: First, the incumbent, Kentillan Laces. Originally from Virginia Beach, Laces took his talents to the University of Nevada, where he put together a solid 4 year career for the Wolfpack before entering the inaugural NSFL draft. Drafted in the 16th round, Laces went into the preseason as the SaberCats' only kicker, so he was responsible for kicking & punting duties. His performance wasn't overwhelming, but not overly disappointing either. Popular opinion inside the locker room is that his work ethic has been less than admirable, which is likely why management went looking to potentially replace him. Now for the newcomer, Jack Vanderjagt. Originally from the great white north, specifically Oakville, Ontario, Vanderjagt played his college ball at Allan Hancock in California. Despite playing at a virtually unknown school, Vanderjagt put up monster numbers for the Bulldogs, catching the eye of San Jose's scouting department. Look for this kid to give Laces a run for his money as they battle for playing time early in the season. Will Laces hold onto his spot? Will Vanderjagt take over the reigns? Or will they split time, one as kicker & one as punter? This battle should be fun to watch moving forward. (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - Sweetwater - 06-11-2017 John Canton Gets Defensive Captain Nod. This past Friday, June 9th, the San Jose Sabercats addressed the media to announce this year's team captains. The Sabercats made a splash when they listed small school rookie John Canton alongside #4 overall pick Alexander Selich. This kicks off Canton's introduction into the NSFL with flying colors as the once Power-5-scorned cornerback makes his presence felt. Canton was the only prospect to come out of the MAC this year, and told the media teams would regret not taking him. Canton has always played with a chip on his shoulder, being passed up by big named schools he made it his goal to be drafted. At the draft he went in the 10th round, winding up on the Sabercats, a team who had obviously done their homework. A spokesman for the team was quoted saying, "John Canton will go down as one of the biggest steals of the inaugural hands down." Canton faced a baptism by fire, going up against star receiver, and second overall pick in the draft, Josh Garden. Canton held Garden to under 50 yards receiving and broke up one pass, but did allow a touchdown. After that, Canton found his rhythm and over the next 3 games achieved another pass defensed, an interception, and most importantly, no more touchdowns allowed. Canton will be going up against the #1 receiver most of the time, and he assures me he is looking forward to the challenge. "I want to show this league what I've got. Show them these guys from smaller schools really can ball. I want to be the best I can be, and help my team succeed along the way." ________________ 280 Words (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - Saliva^ - 06-11-2017 The Sabercats went 2-2 in pre-season which is pretty decent if you ask me. They were 0-2 before they woke up to save the PS even though this thing doesn't even matter. The question is, will San Jose's defence be able to have a good defence. Some analytics already praised SJS defs and their work ethic, but now they will need to convert it into the field. So far seems like only Richter is about to let the team down, the other guys are still hungry for wins and tackles, including your favorite wannabe SS Clee Hardrool who's actually playing as a free safety. He managed to collect 19 tackles, 3 penalties and 15 yards in 4 pre-season games and I think he did a good job, knowing that these were the first four big games in his career and he knows nothing about the football as a whole. Some words about our offense as well. I assume they will need to pick it up as averaging 17 points in 4 PS games isn't the best options how to win the cup. Our peak so far was against the Outlaws, where Bottles registered 2 clutch TD's to secure a win, but still they need to do better. (S1) - Weekend PT #2 - Media Frenzy - PigSnout - 06-11-2017 The Yeti's preseason did not go as hoped. Many analysts viewed the Yeti as a top team entering the year but they finished the preseason with a disappointing 1-3 record. The season began with a rout at the hands of the Baltimore Hawks who beat the Yeti by 22 points. The Yeti's defense tightened up after that game and they overcame the Outlaws by holding them to 13 points. The Yeti continued to hold their opponents below 20 points in the next two games but the offense struggled to put up points. The Yeti finished the preseason with a two game skid against the Wraiths and the Sabercats. Going forward, the Yeti will strive to remain stout on defense while putting up more points offensively. The Yeti scored just 3 touchdowns compared to 7 field goals so a main focus will be to see if they can execute better in the red zone and convert more touchdowns. If the Yeti can score more touchdowns, they may be able to reach a level more in line with their hype entering the season. Despite a disappointing preseason, the Yeti are confident they will be able to make adjustments and utilize their talent to become one of the top teams in the league. Quote:211 words |
