(S1) - PT #3 - Rivals - NUCK - 06-22-2017 I want to say my biggest rival is Reg Mackworthy, unfortunately that means my rival is a virtual bench warmer. The Outlaws 2nd pick ever was a basic waste as it was used to grab Mackworthy 7th overall in the inaugural draft. I cant say the Reg is a bad player my any means. But hes poorly being manged and utilized by the Arizona staff, mainly @ADwyer87. Mackworthy, or @Esa77 as his friends call him. Is a premier runing back in the newly founded NSFL. In 6 games the elite speed back out of Oregon State University has only manged to gain 218 yards on 60 attempts. 52 of those yards came in our only head to head of the season. In which I put Reg back on the bench with my 78 yards. Because yet again Mackworth was unable to show up for a big game, the Outlaws were forced to pass with only a yard left on 4th down. Ultimately ending the game as they couldn't connect to get the win. This is just yet another reason why I struggle to even use rival and Mackworthy in the same breath. I dont want to dumb down my play in order to have a competition with a far superior athlete come game time! (S1) - PT #3 - Rivals - Durden - 06-22-2017 Jack Durden's biggest rival doesn't come from someone on the defensive line, or even someone from the back field... his biggest rival is... everyone. Durden was passed on by multiple people, multiple times. This led to it being Durden versus the league. Now, it's more of Durden versus every other running back selected, before or after him. More specifically, Durden versus Reg Mackworthy. There's nothing I have against Mackworthy, except that he's competition for the number 1 spot. I told everyone since day 1 that they needed to watch their backs and that I was going to come in and dominate. Now, after 6 games, I'm the best running back on the team, just like I said. Durden has 68 carries for 270 yards, averaging 4 yards per carry, three touchdowns, and a long run of 16 yards. Mackworthy is sitting at 60 carries for 218 yards, averaging 3.6 yards a carry, only 1 touchdown and having a long run of 10 yards. The difference? Mackworthy was selected 7th overall. Durden? 78th overall. It looks like Dwyer didn't understand how to get a running back until later, and potentially wasted a 2nd round pick. Durden versus the world, just like it's always been. Watch out Mackworthy, I'm coming for that #1 spot. (S1) - PT #3 - Rivals - Saliva^ - 06-22-2017 Usually, the Sabercats' wannabe strong safety Clee Hardrool (who's actually a free safety) isn't doing much trash talks. But one player has earned the right to be noticed by Clee-and that guy plays in the Colorado Yeti team. Vikian Marmeladov, to be exact. The things started after Clee called Vikian a ''Lady Marmelade'' in his own press conference. The Yeti's FS wasn't pleased with this nickname, but he tried to settle it down before anything could've happened. However, Hardrool continues to use this nickname on a daily basis and even though Vikian tries to not react, he might snap on the SJ's player sooner or later. The standings are also adding fuel to the fire: Yeti is a 5-1 team so far, while San Jose is a vice versa team and that's not what Clee wants to see. Let's look at their stats: Viki - 25 tck, 1 sack; 2 int; 1 TD Drool - 19 tck, 2 sack; 1 int So far Marmeladov is playing better so far, but even there Clee found an excuse. He constantly accusing Yeti's FS of taking steroids, like ''that sweet ass guy with the sweet ass name can't do shit without cheating''. So it might not be the most known rivalry, but I'm sure these two are going to have a fun against each other for a long time. (S1) - PT #3 - Rivals - DELIRIVM - 06-23-2017 Over his short time in the season, Wyatt Fulton has come to play his best games against Chris Orosz. Much of this has come to pass because Orosz is the man with the ball on one of the most vocal teams in the NSFL - the Yellowknife Wraiths. The Wraiths have been a team ready toot their own horn and be vocal about their successes while blaming their failures on things outside of the teams control. The Wraiths are an alright team but they are definitely overrated. And this starts with their quarterback Chris Orosz. He's been given extremely talented weapons in Garden and LeClair, yet still hasn't been able to do much of anything against the Yeti defense in multiple meetings. Fulton has been personally responsible for one of, if not the most, embarassing moments for the young Yellowknife quarterback. In the primetime meeting between the Colorado Yeti and the Yellowknife Wraiths, the Wraiths were driving down the field late in the 3rd quarter of the game. Ready to put the Yeti away and make a statement that they were the class of the NSFC. Orosz dropped back for a pass at the 12 yard line of the Yeti and delivered a wobbly pass that found it's way into the arms of the hungry linebacker Fulton. After the momentum change of that play the Colorado Yeti went on to win and take a 2-0 lead against the Wraiths in the season series. Even more impressive is that 2 of Fulton's 5 sacks this season have come against the Yellowknife quarterback. Given time to grow Chris Orosz might turn into a fairly good quarterback. But no matter what he'll always have Fulton breathing down his neck. You better be afraid. Because you aren't making up those footsteps Orosz. I'm right behind you. @Aenir (301 Words) (S1) - PT #3 - Rivals - Lainncli - 06-23-2017 Three times, the Yeti have taken on Baltimore. Twice they've won, one loss a black mark against their name. Every time, it's been a brutal physical contest. Rivals have formed across the pitch, across both teams working their way into every position. Broadway vs Saint. Hendrix vs Hendrix. Noble vs Harrison. However, O'Connell's focus is elsewhere. He's no grudges, no rivalries to be played out against the Hawks' defencemen. There's a desire to win of course, an innate predatorial instinct embedded in the running back's competitive drive. Yet, when they play this eve, it'll be his own teammates O'Connell is up against. It's clear to all there are only two spots in the Yetis backfield. For most the pre-season it was O'Connell and Tiernan leading the charge, Tweed being promoted come the regular games to bring about a vicious battle to stand out. Locker room leaks, talk of position changes, coaches plotting and the media awaiting like hounds eagerly watching scraps fall from the table. Every yard is vital now, every catch and every block another tally on their chart. From three rivals, two will rise above the fires. One will fall. (S1) - PT #3 - Rivals - adam2552 - 06-23-2017 One of the biggest current rivalries in the league is between two Arizona Outlaws wide receivers. The rivalry between Lincoln Jefferson and Stormblessed. While publicly they remain civil, their fiery competition can be observed every week during practice. During practice, you will always see the wideouts talking with quarterback Vincent Draxel to ensure they continue to get their fair share of targets. While on paper they appear to be great compliments to each other, with Jefferson being a big red zone threat and Stormblessed being a shifty, speedy receiver. However, they are constantly in competition to prove which one is the better receiver. Their statistics from this season have even furthered their rivalry as neither one has separated from the other. Stormblessed | 23 Catches | 436 Yards | 2 TDs Jefferson | 27 Catches | 363 Yards | 3 TDs So far this season, Stormblessed has more yards than Jefferson. But, Jefferson has more catches and more touchdowns. Undeniably, Stormblessed has turned into one of the best deep threats in the game, averaging 19 yards per catch. The next highest in the league is 16.8 yards per catch. At the same time Jefferson has shown that his size makes him one of the best red zone targets in the league, catching three red zone TDs, including a game winner. For the foreseeable future, these two will continue to try and out do the other. Neither one may ever demonstrably prove that they won this rivalry. However, everyone agrees that this competition has given the Outlaws one of the best receiving tandems in the league, and Vincent Draxel and the rest of the Outlaws are the real winners of this rivalry. (S1) - PT #3 - Rivals - DollarAndADream - 06-23-2017 I suppose if I had to pick a rival this early in my NSFL history, it would have to be a fellow quarterback. That quarterback right now is none other than Arizona Outlaws player Vincent Draxel. The dude just has it all right now. Take a look at the leaderboards for quarterbacks, and you will see he is on top. He is #1 in Passing Yards with 1786, while myself, Scrub Kyubee is sitting at #3 with 1527. Not only that, but he has the most Passing Touchdowns with 12, while I have 9, which is #3 in that category as well. Although the average player rating belongs to Noble's #1 ranked 80.4, Draxel seems to have been the best QB all around. Even though Drax is not #1 in average rating, he is still #3 with 73.8, while Kyubee is #2 with 76.9. An interesting thing is that Draxel is on the lower end of completion percentage, with 52.1%. That is 2nd last in the NSFL, while myself, Kyubee, is sitting at #3 with 57.5. The differential there isn't too high however, but it will be interesting to keep track of moving forward. It'll sure be a battle between Scrub Kyubee and Vincent Draxel moving forward, while they play in their respective conferences. (S1) - PT #3 - Rivals - RainDelay - 06-23-2017 Like the prompt says, rivals can be whatever you make of them. In this case, Bailey Cook's rival is one of his closest contacts in the league, and also a fellow receiver. Many people think that receivers and cornerbacks make natural rivals, and while that is true, there is still the never ending desire to be the at the pinnacle of the leagues receiving options. With that, Josh Garden is a natural rival for Bailey Cook. The two are some of the most competitive people around, and surprisingly enough, neither one has stepped onto the defensive side to cover the other. Hey, it's only a matter of time. When these two practice together during the offseason, it is always a friendly one-up competition. You catch 100 passes, I'll catch 101. You burn 20 defenders, I'll burn 25. So on and so forth. That's just how it goes. Now these two are actually good friends, but the fiery competitiveness fuels these battles that they have. They are known to really go at it. As it stands, it looks like this may be a rivalry for the ages in the future of the NSFL, unless, of course, they decide to join forces in an offseason plot-twist, but that all remains to be seen. For now, the only thing these two can do is keep working to be better than the other. (S1) - PT #3 - Rivals - WinstonKodogo - 06-23-2017 Let's be honest here. Punting rivalries aren't that exciting and will never grab the headlines on the back pages, but I have to admit we've got an interesting one brewing in the NSFL. It should come as a surprise to no one that the rivalry between punters is between the only two designated in the league, Jimmy Darkapple of the Colorado Yetis and myself Stephen Harris of the Baltimore Hawks. I'd love to say that I'm way ahead of him when it comes to the race between us but it's actually kind of neck and neck though I fully expect to make a full breakaway from him at some point. One of the best examples of our rivalry would be in our week six game. At the time I had the record for the longest punt in the leagues short history at 62 yards and during practice Darkapple came up to me and told me that he was going to beat it, he was right he did with a great kick of 64 yards. I wasn't going to let him out do me and blasted one for 66 yards later in the game and gave him a cheeky nod and wink next time I walked past him. The 2 yards between our kicks that game spoke volumes about our rivalry in general and how close it is. For example Darkapple has the better distance average by 1.2 yards. (44.9 to 43.7), I have the longer kick by 2 yards (64 to 66) and I have the higher amount of kicks inside the 20 (9 to 10). Things are close in our rivalry but I take the edge. Just. @TheAliensAreCumming (S1) - PT #3 - Rivals - Bengals1Fan - 06-24-2017 The Players Tribune Published Sat June 24th - 1:05 EST My rival. The man I think about when i'm working out. Picked before me. I always have to work harder and better then this guy. Because he was first off the board at my position. I think that that's enough motivation there right? But if that's not enough, my team continues to split carries between me and our second back. What's that mean? I gotta go out there and earn every single second. I have to fight for those extra yards. I have to win the battle at the line. All to beat Reg Mackworthy. One of the first backs off the board and valued severly higher up then I was throughout the entire draft process, Mackworthy has been my enemy. I wanna defeat him at all facets of the game. While my team may be having a rough season, I think we need to strike back. The only way I can help with that is playing my ass off on every down that I touch the ball. From this moment forward, Vick Bowers Jr. is going all out. Every play. Every down. Vick Bowers will not be defeated by Reg Mackworthy or any back in the NSFL. Vick Bowers Jr. will be the best. --205 Words-- |
