Rose Jenkins' choices in college were... interesting. First of all, her parents expected her to follow in her father's footsteps and go to Oregon. While she barely had the grades to get in, the school was willing to take her in because of her father's alumni status and her football ability. When she refused and chose instead to go to Northern Illinois University, there were a few quiet dinners at the Jenkins household. Not only did she choose to go to a different school, but she chose to become a quarterback, something that her dad had warned her against doing. So with both of those things out of the way, she began her freshman year at NIU still with an "undecided" major. She spent most of her time that wasn't spent at football practice taking the hour and a half long drive back into the city to hang out. Barely holding onto an acceptable GPA, she mostly partied. That's how she met her long-time girlfriend Dottie Morimura. Jenkins would only stay at NIU for a single year. After a devastating loss in the Fiesta Bowl, she found a loophole in the NSFL rules that allowed her to declare for the draft early.

Ashley Owens attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison (the primary campus) on a substantial football scholarship. College was a unique experience for him, with his older sister being the only one in his direct family to also attend a 4 year university. On the scale of the world, he was quite close to his hometown of Sturgeon Bay, but to him it felt like a different galaxy. For his 3 years there (he declared for the DSFL draft instead of completing his senior year), he was a decent student. Though never near the smartest in the class, Owens always studied hard and maintained A’s and B’s, even with the time commitment of Badgers football. Ashley also discovered an interest in economics and finance, which will hopefully help him properly manage his career earnings when his no doubt lengthy career comes to a close. As for football, Owens had a difficult freshman year, but rebounded in sophomore year as a strong member of a rushing committee already full of seniors. Come junior year, Owens was Wisconsin’s star offensive player and played as many downs as any other back in college football. However, Wisconsin’s recruitment of a top RB prospect who they told would be the starting rusher, while Owens mostly started at receiver, caused Ashley Owens to announce his early departure from the Wisconsin Badgers.

Mason Brown was red shirted his freshmen year on Boise State's roster and he conditioned some much that he lost 30 percent of his body fat and gained 48 percent muscle mass. In his sophomore year he started at the WLB. Mason ended the season with 237 tackles, 37 Tackles For Loss, 25 sacks, 10 Forced Fumbles, 3 Fumble Recoveries, and 5 ints. Mason had to leave Boise because of a bunch of disagreements with the coaching staff about where he should be played.

Mason, now 6'3" and 242 lbs, ended up transferring to Colorado State and they offered him a nice and full scholarship. He started the at SLB for CS. He actually didn't play for 9 games because of a suspension from the NCAA. Still not playing 9 games he still got 186 tackles, 12 Tackles For Loss, 7 sacks, 8 pass break ups, 4 FF, and 9 picks. Mason decided that he was going to wait to play in the DSFL because of the need to be with his pregnant girlfriend. He was named the Heisman player of the year and had the choice of joining the soon to be dead NFL or join the DSFL and roll the dice and see if he could get on an NSFL team

Going Boise State University was an absolutely fantastic time. Everyone brings up the Blue Turf, which they should. The Blue is a huge draw for recruiting, and it is still my favorite football field I have ever played on. Our locker room dynamic was incredible during my time. From pushing each other to take every step on the way to top of the stadium seats, to selecting who would carry out the team Hammer, or what the next touchdown celebration would be. This carried over from the football team to the other sports at Boise State too. There were a lot of game and event swapping between us and track & field or basketball or wrestling, we would attend their games and they would attend ours. There were definitely a few wins that I attribute to our fellow student athletes being in the student section encouraging the crowd to cheer us on and support us to victory. The hardest win was against Nevada in a quadruple overtime. We felt like this game was never going to end, except we could hear the crowd staying with us. Boy did that win feel great. I finished that game with 8 tackles, a sack and an interception, normally that’d win a guy a player of the game award, but at the end of the night every one of us contributed so much into that win we decided to share it. Go Orange Go Big Blue, Fight Fight, BSU!!!

My time in college was a blast, though the college experience did not start off quite as well as I would have hoped. Because of my long list of injuries in and before high school, a lot of Division I schools were not super willing to offer me an athletic scholarship - the biggest team to offer me one was actually Monmouth University in the FCS. I had bigger ambitions though, and my academic performance in high school helped me a ton as I got a full ride to Rutgers' School of Engineering. I was able to walk on to the football team, and after playing well in the Spring Game I entrenched myself a permanent position on the team. Slowly but surely, I made my way up the ranks and played a variety of positions, including as a running back, wide reciever, and even defensive back. I also played a little bit of quarterback on trick plays, since I did play a little there in high school. Probably the best decision I ever made was deciding to stay my senior year and get my Master's degree, as not only did I leave school with it but it also let me shine in the S16 draft class rather than the talent packed S15 draft class.
