(S16) - PT4 - New Day - Bwestfield - 08-02-2019 The league has changed so much over the last two years. It really has become something else. However there is a lot that needs to change. The change that really needs to happen is not something that can happen quickly, nor would it be easy. The problem lies with the forums. Forums are an outdated piece of technology from the early 2000’s. I think we do really well with what we are given and there has been a lot of work to make things easy to find and navigate. However things are easily lost, overlooked, and misplaced. It truly does take a lot of work and a group of people to make sure things are running smoothly at all times. While it is nice to have a job in the league and help out, a lot of people are focusing more on the upkeep of the site than they are their players. The lore is missing from the game and to track all these players is a task. I think the best way to remedy this would be a site that can bring all of our elements together in one place. A place where you can buy equipment and the money is removed from your account immediately instead of waiting for a banker to move and approve the transaction. Spending your TPE on your player and it wouldn't have to be approved because the site would do that automatically. With the amount of people maintaining this site, we could have a lot of great ideas and solutions to these human error problems. (S16) - PT4 - New Day - MrStennett - 08-02-2019 This is a place for constructive criticism you say? Well, since I grade these things, I'm going to be as unhelpful as possible. If I could change one thing about this league, I would get a better commissioner. I mean, that @ADwyer87 guy is corrupt and is just generally a bum of the highest order. He's a big loser with narcissism problem and he forces his iron willed agenda on the rest of head office, which is totally uncool, man. If I could just speak directly to Dwyer for a moment, I'd like to say one thing: why? Why do you choose to be the way that you are? Why do you put everyone who loves this league and just wants to have good, wholesome fun through your nonsense schemes. Can't you be like other evil geniuses and just try to take over the world. Leave us good internet boys and girls alone to play our digital football in peace. That's literally it. If you just put someone in the top office who is kind and considerate, most of the problems in this league would disappear in the background. We would be too caught up in happiness and friendship. To finish up, this was in satire. Dwyer is fine. Don't blast me into internet oblivion. (S16) - PT4 - New Day - Mooty99 - 08-02-2019 Firstly credit to Dermot for this great question to write about. If I could change one thing about the NSFL it would definitely be improving the annoying and at times frustrating sim engine. I have heard GMs complain about the aim engine not running the plays and the styles of plays they have set up but as I am not a GM I can't really comment on that. What I can comment on is that it would be great to have a sim engine that was more refined and matched an NFL far more closely. One of the biggest problems I have seen are the ridiculous penalties, it is like the engine randomly selects a penalty and player causing it out of thin air. I have seen quarterbacks been called for pass interference on his own pass or a cornerback being called for roughing the passer, it would be great if these crazy calls could be fixed so they appear more realistic. Secondly it would be great if the graphics of the sim engine was better, just look at the render and realism of sim engine on games like football manager, if we could get anywhere close to that, then that would be amazing. But all the complaints aside this is an amazing league with a great bunch of people in it and running it, keep it up! Word count 228 (S16) - PT4 - New Day - Rradum - 08-02-2019 If I were to change one thing about the league, it'd definitely be switching to a new sim engine. DDSPF 2016 just isn't cutting it and there's a lot of instances that are chalked up to sim screwiness. I know it's a big ask to go to a modern sim engine, but if the leagues continues to grow exponentially, I believe it should be inevitable. Wolverine Studios is coming out with a 2020 version of the sim and if it's any better than 2016 I say we import everything into it. Hopefully there would be a way to import history and records and whatnot. Even if you can't move all of that over I still think it'd be worth it to use an updated and modern sim. Some people have suggested using and Madden game which isn't a bad idea. The biggest change that would bring would be much longer games. With those longer games however, there would be more action to watch and would draw more people to the league. Moving to something like Madden would be a big project and would require the help from everyone in the league. The attribute system would probably need to be reworked due to more attributes in Madden and teams would have to be entered into it and actual characters created. All in all, I think a change in the sim would help the league in the long run even if it's not something as grand as Madden. (S16) - PT4 - New Day - SouljaBoy2007 - 08-02-2019 Personally, there's only a few things in the league that I would like to change. One thing I would do assuming that I have omnipotent powers of change is make it so that the sim is much more realistic. Sims aren't always super fun to watch just because dots aren't super interesting, if our sim had realistic graphics it would be a lot more fun. Another change I would make is a better update system, maybe even one that is automated. Having to do math and have people check over it isn't super efficient and opens up more opportunities for mistakes. The final change I propose is that we make it so that the Liberty's end zone lines up with the lines on the field in the sim. The picture in the end zone not being aligned is just so annoying to look at, even more so than l o n g s n e k. We also need to add the quick links to the index and wiki at the top of the forum. A personal want of mine, which probably wouldn't work if implemented, is pro-bowl fan voting. Unfortunately it probably won't work because people will only vote for big name players and the pro bowl won't actually reward great players. (S16) - PT4 - New Day - nunccoepi - 08-02-2019 this is a great PT idea and something that I've actually called for the in the past to take place on a season by season basis. We can't run out of good ideas for improving the league. For me, I think one of the most broken systems is the financial system/economy of the league. I don't mean the bankers because they always do a good job. But the fact that some people are swimming in money, and others are dirt poor. The solution isn't always to take a job in the league because too many people hold too many jobs. We need to either spread out the money around the league a little better in terms of the total number of jobs being held by more people (ie. fewer jobs held per job-holding person) or figure out more ways to spend money. This will work to incentivize higher contracts (instead of just taking min) and a more healthy off-season. One of the ways that I have proposed to do this is through creating a job openings channel in the general discord like I did in the rookie discord that will allow the general public to know when a job opening is available since right now its hard to keep track of for the average person (its even harder to tell when a job has been filled). And then I've suggested that we hold a "job fair" in the off-season in which people are given a small bonus when they apply for a job and then another small bonus if they take a job during the job fair. This will encourage people to continue with a job until the end of the season and to explore new jobs. We need more competition for the jobs and for the older guys to allow for that process to take place, as hard as that may be. (S16) - PT4 - New Day - dizzyDC - 08-02-2019 I haven't looked through the responses already made to this PT, but I'm sure someone else has already said this one. If I could change one thing about the league, it would be to relocate the Yellowknife Wraiths. I get that this is a fake football league. With some of the player names and birthplaces, etc in the league realism has kind of gone out the door, but for some reason this one has never quite sat right with me. I think my issue with it is that it just really sticks out in comparison to the other locations of teams. All the other teams in the NSFL are from locations that make logical sense for a team, major and recognizable locations... then there's Yellowknife where I'm assuming very few people could give you a realistic estimate of where it is located. I don't necessarily hate the branding or anything, but it would just make more sense in my mind if most of the teams were in nonsensical locations for a professional football team. Like I said, it just kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. Other Canadian cities that would have made way more sense are Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, etc... then there are US cities of New York, Charlotte, Detroit, Seattle, Boston, etc. There are just so many options that would make more sense. I don't know, maybe some people like the quirkiness of having a team in Yellowknife, but it doesn't quite do it for me. (S16) - PT4 - New Day - PigSnout - 08-03-2019 PT Pass (S16) - PT4 - New Day - Lowlycrib - 08-03-2019 Given the opportunity to change anything within this league left me with a couple ideas that would suit my preferences but might not be for everyone. The first of which would be switching the sim engine onto one of the various madden or NCAA games, which would be able to provide a more visual experience and unique look to the league. Using these sim engines would also bring about more diversity in possible archetypes for positions rather than just dumping all your TPE into speed. The variety would provide a unique experience for every individual Second of which an automated system for tracking TPE would make for accounting and distributing TPE a much smoother process. I know that in the beginning of understanding all of this i made a few mistakes, which an automated system would completely rid of that. In theory its a good idea but harder to enact in practice but could be doable Thirdly, with my background in Canada and Canadian Football i believe a crossover in playoffs could prove fruitful in providing increased competition. For example, if three teams make playoffs in each division the 4th team could make playoffs if they are better than the opposing's divisions 3rd team. This could also provide unique storylines and keep the competition level higher and ensure every game matters in a season (224) (S16) - PT4 - New Day - ADwyer87 - 08-03-2019 if I could make a change in the league, I would first ban @MrStennett. Oh wait, I can :eyes: Next I would love to have a better sim. DDSPF kinda sucks, and is still basically the best football sim out there for a league like this, which is pretty crappy. The only hope of a solution some day would be for either Wolverine to get their shit together with DDSPF 20, which I have a marginal bit of hope for, or that OOTP will make an awesome franchise football simulation. Only way to make either of these things happen would be to get a job at these places, or to get rich and pay enough people to do it. I would also love to have jobs more spread out among people. It seems like jobs are very centralized around a few users, and I would love to see a lot more guys come and fill roles. We always have tons of openings available, but it seems like most of the jobs are held by the same people, and often HO has to take crucual jobs to make sure that they get done. Not much I could officially do to change this, but maybe I can just develop mind control powers and fucking Obi-Wan people into doing shit for me. |
