(S22) - Ultimus Week - qWest - 05-26-2020 Podcast covering tasks 4 and 5 for 10 TPE. Sorry to whoever has to grade this, the recording ended up lasting 48 minutes... I had a lot to say about the Ultimini and the NSFL/DSFL awards... (S22) - Ultimus Week - Kyamprac - 05-26-2020 Tier 2: Short Form Task (for total 5 TPE) 8) This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S22 class and later. In 400 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented? For the last month or so I’ve been watching Amidships progress through the DSFL in his rookie season. I admit, whenever I looked over his shoulder to see what he was up to I didn’t immediately see the appeal. We’ve played a lot of different forum based games together in the past and this just kind of looked like another one of those, with what looked like a pretty confusing system for player progression. Sometime within the last couple of weeks, he mentioned that the time was ripe for player creation and I should dive in and give it a try to see what it’s all about. He walked me through the basics and gave me a rough idea of how to get started. I was somewhat skeptical, but figured I’d give it a shot and created Zoe Watts. Why a kicker? It just kind of appealed at the time. Normally I would go for WR or something kind of flashy like that, but I didn’t know how much time I would dedicate to this or if I would even like it. I figured kickers are neat, I could play fairly casually and also just had some good player renders in mind. Despite only being here a short time, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the league so far. I haven’t even been drafted yet and I’m already super excited to get more involved in different ways. The community, while sometimes a little quirky, has been very warm and welcoming and eager to share stories, stats, tips for improving your player, and so many other things (Bex was among the first to welcome me and help me out with a point task - thanks Bex!). I thought it was really cool to get picked up off waivers by the Birddogs and play on the same team as Ships and Tonzy for a while, but I didn’t count on the locker room as a whole being as awesome as it is. I played only four games with them, but never felt as though I wasn’t a part of that team. I’m really grateful to them for that and hope to continue bothering them here and there going forward. As far as my player’s start goes, I do kind of wish my first few games in the league had gone better. I pushed to get some early TPE to help the Birddogs out in their playoff race and managed to boost my kick accuracy and power a little beyond where their previous kicker’s stats.. but the sim wasn’t kind and I missed some really important kicks that, I think, could have led to a very different playoff race. But, that’s life and I hope to do a lot better going forward. Most recently, I picked up a job with the Player Progression Team. I’m really looking forward to learning more and getting involved from that aspect as well. I’m hoping as I get more involved I can help to make the league an enjoyable experience for the players that come after us. Graphics only. ![]() (S22) - Ultimus Week - Sutj - 05-26-2020 7) So far, Friedrich Vequain has had a rather successful career in the DSFL . Being drafted 68th overall to the Tijuana Luchadores, a number that continues to haunt Vequain to this day, Vequain started off with a rather impressive start. Though the Luchadores fell to 6-8 the previous season, coming 3rd in the SFC South, and missing out on the playoffs, Vequain and Passman both put up solid numbers for the Luchadores. Vequain put up 580 yards on 50 receptions, and two touchdowns. However, Vequain's breakout year would show up in the following season, after the departure of Thomas Passman, who were coincidentally drafted to the same team, the Arizona Outlaws. Being a send-down turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Vequain. I had high expectations for Vequain, but I couldn't have ever expected a season like this for Vequain. I had expected Vequain to at least be a top five wide receiver in the DSFL in terms of yardage, touchdowns, and receptions, as Vequain was so close to being top 5 in yardage last season, while tying for fifth in receptions. Vequain finished this season with a remarkable 938 receiving yards, just 62 yards short of a 1000 yard season, which one can safely bet would have been reached should the season have been 16 games long, 72 receptions, and six touchdowns to top that all off. Vequain secured the league yardage title by a very safe margin, 103 yards above the next highest receiver, absolutely destroyed the competition in receptions with 72, 15 catches above anyone else, and tied for second in the league for touchdowns with Grey Ducks receiver Daymond Brooks, below only Garfield Despacito Jr, and Tychondrius Hood with 7 touchdowns. Following the postseason, it is very likely that Vequain will be awarded the WR award, an honour which I will humbly and proudly accept, but I know it wouldn't have been possible without the incredibly talented roster that the Luchadores have built up. It is unknown when Vequain will be called up in to the NSFL to play for the Outlaws, as they currently already have their WR situation under control, so Vequain may return to torture DSFL secondary's for another season, but I hope for Vequain's dominance to continue in the NSFL when he is eventually called up, though I would be happy just to play a part in an NSFL team. But until then, I look forward to continuing watching Vequain and the Luchadores tear up DSFL defenses, and hopefully take home the Ultimini this season to end this remarkable season on a high. 8) I was a recruit from the S22 reddit class, and joining the simulation league, I was an absolute newbie. I had no experience at all with simulation leagues of any sort, and it was the first I had ever heard of it. Though I eventually figured things out near the end of my first season, it was very difficult finding my way around how the TPE system works, the different ways to gain TPE, money, etc. For example, I only found out what to do with money around the second half of my first seBeason. However, during this tough time, I wouldn't have wanted to go any locker room than the Luchadores'. Filled with great banter and friendly characters, there was no place that would have been better for a newbie like me. People like Fleshbagsoup, Jay_Doctor, bjkman, and jpach, just to name a few of the fun and friendly characters in our locker room, have made this league fun and enjoyable for me. Without them, I honestly probably would have found this boring and gone inactive. The entire Tijuana offense was unstoppable throughout the season, from the insane running back duo Richard Gilbert and Running Back, the elite quarterback combo Ben Slothlisberger and Jim Waters, and also the other members of the 'The Three Amigos' James Kingston and Doug Howlett, and Vequain certainly played his part this season in the #1 DSFL offense and the league-high 330 points for. Vequain's first season was decent enough, but nothing stellar, but I am blown away with the performance he has managed to put up this season. Being drafted at 68th overall to the Tijuana Luchadores was a blessing, though I do wonder how my legacy would have changed if I managed to be drafted at the legendary 69. It was an incredible feeling being drafted so high, and though I may not be the highest TPE earner, I believe that the stats I have put up for the Luchadores and the results they have achieved with me, especially in this season, make up for that. Finally, some suggestions I have for the league. Though this league is wonderfully run, and a very fun and enjoyable experience, it can get pretty rough for new simmers. Though I had the wonderful Luchadores locker room to rely on whenever I had questions, there were also things I couldn't ask about simply because I didn't know they existed, such as buying weekly training. Also, my mentor was completely useless and didn't respond after his first message reaching out to me, so I was sort of forced to fend for myself. I think it could also be easier for casual simmers to earn TPE, and instead offer bigger rewards for more active players. Writing a media piece for one weekly training was a little entertaining at first, but it becomes such a chore and I loathe the day that I eventually have to get up and grind out an article. (S22) - Ultimus Week - bjkman - 05-26-2020 7) With such an overall high-level performance over the last 2 years, I really feel like Jacob Small can be a huge underdog story and a very successful kicker for many years to come. After spending 2 full seasons as the man punting and kicking every ball that came his way for the Tijuana Luchadores in the DSFL, he is finally ready for his next step, becoming the starting punter and kicker for the Sarasota Sailfish. He was drafted #116 overall in Round 14, a very low start with a huge amount of growth. He sat there for 14 rounds as kicker after kicker was selected before him. But the Luchadores selected right and got themselves one of the only few top-tier kicker from the 2036 Developmental Draft, a brilliant selection especially so far down in the draft. In his first year, Small was awarded Tijuana Luchadores Offensive Player of the Game, he was a nominee for Kicker of the Year (DSFL), and a nominee for Punter of the Year (DSFL), and he capped it off with an SFC Pro Bowl Selection (DSFL). Those awards had the stats to boot with 33 for 36 on Extra Points, and 17 for 21 on Field Goals as well as a great showing as punter. And while he was successful in his journey for a championship or Kicker or Punter of the year. He made sure coming just short would push him to work harder the next season. Then another season started and the NSFL Draft was underway. He sat there for 10 Rounds and 110 Picks before the Expansion Sarasota Sailfish picked up their kicker of the future. He worked his ass off throughout the season in the DSFL with the Tijuana Luchadores to show Sarasota that they made the right choice drafting Small. While the season stats did not show much room for improvement as he had originally hoped for... he kicked more field goals and extra points than he did the previous year, to show he could handle the workload. His stats of 34 for 37 on Extra Points and 22 for 27 were not as accurate as he had hoped for throughout the season, but overall his kicking helped propel the Tijuana Luchadores to the Playoffs and the #1 seed. While we still wait for the announcement on nominations, Jacob Small was awarded Week 10 Offensive Player of the Game with a perfect performance of 3 for 3 on the game. The future will be interesting for this man, and hopefully, he'll have a Kicker of the Year award to show for it when he reaches the NSFL. [438 Words] 13) An Ad for Mr. Slothlisberger 15) Hold that Trophy High! (S22) - Ultimus Week - Lime - 05-26-2020 Tier 2 (5.0) Task 4: Since we are about to face them in the Season 22 Ultimini, I will explore the Luchadores’ season to find out what we are up against. Starting from a TPE standpoint, the Luchadores have the third worst offense in the league, and the fourth best defense. They appear to be a middle of the road team when compared purely on numbers. But in the regular season they dominated the regular season with their 10-4 record. Despite the large TPE discrepancy, the Luchadores were carried by their offense. They had a league leading 330 points this season, but were only third lowest in points allowed with 259. They held a killer 6-1 record at home, which seemed to be a major advantage for them. The Tijuana offense seemed to be composed of two big tandems. Slothlisberger and Waters both played quarterback for much of the season. It’s likely that teams struggled against preparing for two quarterbacks that could both be a threat. On the run game, Gilbert and Back were both dangerous for the Luchadores. Both made the top ten points leaderboard for the season, along with Tijuana kicker Small, who had tied for first. Vequain led the league with a whopping 938 receiving yards, rounding out this explosive offense. One more stat to note is that Hexagon led the league in interceptions, giving more time for Tijuana to rack up points. Now let’s look game by game. The Luchadores appeared to have a mediocre start to the season, but would go on to have two major win streaks that would cement them in first place. Game 1: 17-6 Loss to Norfolk Seawolves Game 2: 39-16 Loss to London Royals Two big losses is not at all what the Luchadores expected at the beginning of this season. But it didn’t appear to shake them too much, because no other losses would be more than 5 points, and Game 1 would be their only loss at home for the season. Game 3: 27-21 Win against Myrtle Beach Buccaneers The Bucs would lose their first of the season, and the Luchadores would gain some confidence in a big turning point for their season. Game 4: 30-22 Win against Minnesota Grey Ducks Game 5: 30-9 Win Against Dallas Birddogs Game 6: 20-17 Win Against Kansas City Coyotes Another big win against Ultimini favorites in the Ducks. They would continue with convincing play against Dallas and Kansas City. Game 7: 26-21 Loss to Portland Pythons The streak would snap at 4, with the Pythons desperately trying to stay afloat and secure a playoff spot. Game 8-12: Wins The Luchadores would not be rattled by the Pythons. They would start a second, 5 game win streak, that would include a much needed victory against the Norfolk Seawolves. Game 13: 23-20 Loss to Kansas City Coyotes Their final loss would be decided by a field goal. Game 14: 24-14 Win against the Portland Pythons They would get revenge against the Pythons for snapping their streak and secure the best record in the DSFL. Tier 3 (2.5) SHL Affiliate (NeonLime) Task 13: Create a billboard, magazine cover, or video game cover depicting a superstar of the league. Graphics only. ![]() Total: 10.0 (S22) - Ultimus Week - ddrector - 05-26-2020 10) Create an argument for your own player, or for someone else on your team, as to why they should be nominated for awards. Lay out their stats or compare them to other contenders. Make a convincing argument. Written option available for 200 words or more. Austin McCormick absolutely deserves to be nominated for tight end of the year. He is 9th overall in the league for receiving yards this season as a tight end. The only players ahead of him are all primary receivers. He had over 900 receiving yards! The next tight end down on the list for receiving yards is Phillips from OCO who also had an impressive year with 822 yards. He had 68 receptions, which is only 3 behind the top receiver in the league and good for 3rd best. Again Phillips was the 2nd best tight end with 66 receptions. That's tied for the most by a non wide receiver with a few running backs. This is where he sets himself apart from Phillips the most as Phillips only had 3 touchdowns. Not only do I believe McCormick should be nominated for tight end of the year, he should absolutely win that award. If you had a chance to read through the NOLA game balls I wrote for this season you'll see McCormick's name come up frequently. He was often a pivotal part of our wins and a big reason we were able to make it to the playoffs again this season. This man deserves an award for all the hard work he has put in. Code: 216 words 14) Make a scouting report for any of the NSFL or DSFL draftees. Show their stats, abilities, TPE, highlights, or dead relatives. I’m joking about that last one, please don’t put dead relatives on the scouting report. Written option available for 200 words or more. Juan Domine is very new to the league, but in his short time in the DSFL as a member of the Kansas City Coyotes has already shown he will make an impact on the defensive end and is definitely worth a look early in the draft. He was picked up by the Coyotes near the end of their season and got to play in their final two games. He was a part of the Coyotes upset win against the Luchadores as he made an immediate impact with 6 tackles in his first game. He followed that up with a nice 5 tackles performance on the road against the Birddogs and also had a tackle for loss as well. He made short work in taking the necessary steps to complete his rookie tasks and create his Wiki so that he would have as much TPE as possible. With 84 TPE as of this writing he currently has the 7th most of any player in the S24 class, which is good enough for 3rd most defensively. As important as linebackers are to stopping the run I could see him go as high as the top half of the first round in the DSFL draft, and looking to the future a bit if he continues to earn at the same pace he has been he could easily be a first round pick in the S24 NSFL draft. Code: 234 words 6) It’s always important to look forward to the future. Examine your team, and in 400 words or more, talk about how they can improve themselves to get a stab at trophy contention next year. Are you loaded with draft capital for the next draft? Do you have plenty of cap space to sign free agents? Go through the roster and note the different strengths and weaknesses, and how you think those will change over the next few seasons. How should your team adapt? The New Orleans Second Line finished in 3rd place in what I think is the much more competitive conference in the ASFC and lost a close game in the Wildcard round to the Austin Copperheads to finish their season. This was all while starting six rookies on the team. The defense had quite a few major losses between retirement and expansion losses and we definitely didn't have as good of a defense as we did in Season 21 when we ended up winning the Ultimus, but I think one of the biggest things we can do as a team is stay active and continue to gain that precious TPE across the board so we continue to get even better. We are a relatively young team with not many players regressing yet, and we are also a very active team with hardly any inactive players on the roster. 13 of the 19 players on the roster are season 18 or younger, which means we have a few seasons of prime performance from the bulk of the roster coming up. The defensive line looks to be one of our biggest areas of need and hopefully we can find a good free agent to help bolster the line this offseason. Offensively we have a strong offensive line, the backfield is set with Gump and Toriki making up the best running back duo in the league and Francisco will continue to perform at QB until we are ready to bring our future QB Johnny Slothface up. We have two good tight ends in Austin McCormick and Rainier Wolfcastle. With Bona'beri Jones retiring Ed Barker is our only wide receiver on the roster, but with how we play we only really need one good receiver. We've got some potential from the recent draft class that stayed down in the DSFL this season that might be able to come up next season and contribute at wide receiver, but for the most part I think our offense is in good shape. The defense is similarly in good shape and as long as all our young defensive pieces stick around and continue to get better we won't have any issues there. As long as we continue to add good active players every draft and do our best not to lose the talent we have, which we've done a pretty good job of doing I think we are in great shape for the future. Don't be surprised to see the Second Line competing for another Ultimus in a season or two. Of course this all could have to get reconfigured if we have another expansion which would really put us in a hard situation. Code: 445 words (S22) - Ultimus Week - Muford - 05-26-2020 Tier 1: Part 3 There are a lot of things that I’ve been around for in this league that I take seriously. For example, I believe that all the work that has been done on the Wikipedia, while great, is a waste of time and manpower. While those hours can be better used elsewhere, ex. Making the Forums better, potentially changing to a different forum, automating updates, etc. etc., people continue to pour hours into the Wikipedia. If that’s what people want to do, fine, more power to them, but to tie TPE into it, as well as making it such a thing where it takes away other stuff from the site is just a no go for me. I went looking for some of the old drafts the other day, and they have all been integrated into the Wikipedia, there is no longer any hard copies on the forums. I am not a huge fan of that, but I digress. Another thing, that I’ve seen, is that the Rulebook went from being on the forums, to a google doc. I remember, way back when, the Rulebook was originally on the forum. Then one of the old regimes, before I was Head Office, changed it from the forums to the original Google Doc. The Original Google Doc was hell, and was not really able to be edited, so when I was in Head Office, It was my job to reintegrate the whole Rulebook back to the Forums, which I did. To then, within the past season or so, to see it go back to a Google Doc is just asinine. But, again, I am not Head Office, so there is not much I can do about it. I think it’s way easier to leave on the Forums, and it’s much easier to navigate and find whatever you are looking for on the forums, because you can go to each post with each rule section, etc. Another Issue that has been huge, especially these past few days, have been the Awards Committee. I will go out and say, any league you are in, Awards more often then not are more of a “Popularity Contest” instead of who deserves to be on the Ballot. Awards have been a joke ever since the NSFL started, way back in Season One. It has always been, who you know, not what your player has done, and it continues to show even up onto this year. The Awards are a complete joke and trying to rush through every award in a 24-hour period, with little to no discussion about it is just ludicrous. Something that Head Office should do is to extend the awards voting for more then 3 days, and hell, make it a week. Even if you tag on an extra 3-4 days into the Off-Season Schedule, it would not be that big of a deal because you are getting things done CORRECTLY for the League. Instead, you want to try and be to the T by the book, got to go fast, got to burn out this Off-Season to get back to the Regular Season. I, for one, would welcome a longer Awards Voting / Committee time, because then you can discuss, debate, and see who deserves what award. Another issue that I’ve taken notice of, and maybe I am alone on this but it does not matter, is the fact that Head Office has become, in my opinion, just the hiring of “Yes Men.” If you disagree with Head Office then you just do not seem fit for that role, and no bother trying out for it. I believe that Head Office has become more of a push over as of late, and basically a lot of the members of Head Office only come to chime in on issues when it’s them ganging up on what you have to say, instead of actually seeing the issues that members are bringing up. Head Office has always been given the shit end of the stick in leagues, but to drop so low as to, instead of being civil, act childish and like buffoons is just not what the league needs. There needs to be civil discussion, there needs to be order, and there needs to be a willingness to cooperate with other individuals instead of just having your head so far up each other’s asses that you can get no work done. You can not effectively work forward in making the league better if there is no turmoil, but at the same time, you can not work effectively if everyone just agrees on everything. Discussions are meant to be had, policies are meant to be questioned, and throughout it all, this is a League Online in the long run, and instead of fighting like children why don’t we work together to make it a better place for everyone to enjoy? (812 words) (S22) - Ultimus Week - toivo - 05-26-2020 6) It’s always important to look forward to the future. Myrtle Beach has a lot of work cut out for itself, but the team is going to be damn fine. Players are going to have to show up and put in the necessary work. But, players like Brock Bodenhamer are ready for that obstacle. After a lackluster season, Bodenhamer is ready for more. He’s been training hard week in week out and will show the league what he’s capable of next season. His elevated performance might bee all Myrtle Beach needs going forward. Myrlte beach wants to get back to the Ultimini and bring the city another championship home. Bodenhamer is a fast receiver and he’s ready to light up defenses if given the chance. He only had three receptions this past season, the quarterback needs to trust Bodenhamer more. There’s likely not a lot of free agent options as the prompt asks about. Instead, the Myrtle Beach team will need to rely on the draft to satisfy positional needs. Myrtle Beach is blessed with a talented head office and its management will draft the best of the best. Myrtle Beach is a talented team, rich in team history and has a lot to prove. Next season, the team will be even better, much to the satisfaction of the local population. Next season once it’s football season and “The Boys Are Back in Town” by Thin Lizzy is playing, the football world will know that they have something different on their hands. In order for the Myrtle Beach football team to win the Ultimini, we are going to need to get stronger faster and harder, we are going to need speed, violence and momentum. This game is both athletic and narrative, there are stories all around the corner. There aren’t actually narratives, unlike what national media will want you to believe. Myrtle Beach will adapt and grow stronger in the off-season leading towards an improved future. With Bodenhamer potentially playing a larger role, the Myrtle Beach football team will have more opportunities to get the ball deep down the field. Bodenhamer is adding speed which should lead to more touchdowns and scoring for the Myrtle Beach offense. If Myrlte Beach offense can step up next season, and make it a bit easier on the defense, than the Ultimini is ours. There are a lot of intangibles in the Myrtle Beach locker room. This will go far for the team in the upcoming season. If the Bucs are going to win the Ultimini, then we are going to need continued progression through training and the kiss of luck. 7) Selflessness is one thing, but ultimately everyone wants to hear their own player’s name mentioned among the greats. Take some time, in 400 words or more, and discuss how your player’s (or past player’s) career is going so far. Are you matching any expectations you set out for yourself? Do you see yourself on a potentially award winning or Hall of Fame career trajectory? If your player is just starting out, what goals and visions do you have for yourself? Brock Bodenhamer will be better when given his fair chance. He only had three receptions in the past season. He was drafted toward the end of the season and that is okay as Bodenhamer declared for the draft as one of the last draftees. This upcoming season, Bodenhamer is primed for more chances to demonstrate the elite ability that he’s been working hard at over the past months. Brock Bodenhamer is not the typical candidate for a Hall of Fame career, but that is something that can be worked towards in the future. Brock Bodenhamer is working towards becoming one of the better wide receivers by constantly improving his speed. The way Bodenhamer sees it, if he can out run the rest of the team and his opponents, not only will he be the best player on the field, the Myrtle Beach Bucs will see unprecedented success. For Bodenhamer, and the Myrtle beach football team, the sky is the limit. So far, expectations have not been matched. I set a high standard for myself and I want Brock Bodenhamer to get more than three receptions. I don’t blame anyone for his stats, it’s the way football goes. Sometimes you are the hammer and sometimes you are the nail. Brock Bodenhamer has the potential to be the hammer, but this past season he was the nail. Next season is a clean slate, a new opportunity to rack up touchdowns, yards, and receptions. If everything pans out appropriately, Brock Bodenhamer will contribute to the Myrtle Beach football team’s effort to win the DSFL Ultimini. Winning a championship early in his career could help Bodenhamer gain experience and confidence. So for goals, I want to get drafted to the NSFL. As a wide receiver in the DSFL with only three receptions, there are no guarantees of getting drafted to an NSFL team. There was a lot of uncertainty about whether I would even be drafted to the DSFL. Coming out of college, nothing was guaranteed about making a team. It was not until that phone call from the Myrtle Beach football team that things really changed. Now for visions, I see myself holding up the Ultimini and the Ultimus trophy. Unless I accomplish that in my career, I don’t know if I can ever consider myself an accomplished football player. Sure, everybody wants to hear their name with the greats of football, but there is a lot of work left to do to get to that stage. While Bodenhamer can train hard every week, there will still be some luck needed along the way, i.e. the blessing of the gridiron gods. Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented? When it comes to my players performance, I really did not know what to expect. The one thing that I was not sure of was being a Defensive Tackle, they really do not get that involved with the game but it makes you appreciate the little stats you get from game to game. I also have noticed how the games that I do get a good amount of tackles, we tend to be in a closer game and have a chance at winning. The draft was a very good experience for me. In past simulation leagues, I have always been pretty highly touted because everyone knows who I am in the Simulation Hockey League. They know that I will be active and I make graphics and what not. When it came to the draft, I signed up and created my player late so right away I will not being drafted high so I can possibly get drafted from every team possible. And then when I did get drafted in the 5th round and people realized only then that I had joined the league and that General Managers were not sure when I was going to go, it felt good. It felt good that every team was interested in drafting me and having absolutely no clue where I can possibly go. So pretty much, Arizona and unicorn was the guy that was willing to jump early on me and take a chance that I would stay active in a very deep draft. So the whole experience I have had so far in the NSFL has been fun as an underdog and most importantly, being in a lockerroom with who started with strangers and now I have some friends around the board. Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented? So far (in two days) my experience has been good. Iv'e always liked the idea of a simulation football league, but I hadn't actually done one. It was a little daunting at first, as I had no idea what TPE was or how I could earn it or whether I was doing the whole player creation wrong. Once I had created my player and gotten started, however, the mods were very helpful. They made it clear that everything was correct and told me what I should do next. All very helpful given I had no idea how this whole system worked. I have not been drafted yet, but I am awaiting that. The discord has been good for getting a sense that it would be easy to connect with people and get answers to questions. Especially the rookie discord. I also did the rookie point task (this is to complete the last part). The point task is good, but there could be a little more clarity when it comes to examples of how to do parts 4 and 5. it seems like 90% of people have no idea how to do these two, as they both generally require you to write something about the league, which of course you don't have much to say at first. If you aren't doing that, you have to make a graphic of some kind. I have zero skills in graphic design so I'm limited to typing things. I do appreciate there being such things as the rookie point task and first free training, as these help you to get started. Without such an opportunity, you would have a harder time seeing any improvement to your player at first, so being able to quickly gain like 20TPE is very helpful. Without the rookie point task, newcomers like me would have a harder time getting a sense of the layout of the site. Doing the task gets you more comfortable with how it all works and allows you to start to get the hang of using the forums and how the league functions. It all works rather smoothly once you get the hang of it, and I hope to be able to improve to the point where I am not as terrible at this as I am right now. Overall, the whole idea is cool and seems to be a good, well run league. Also, I would recommend adding more of these point tasks exclusively for rookies, as we don't have much to talk about for the first little bit here to earn TPE. Thanks to the people who run the league! |
