RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - Z-Whiz - 09-07-2020 I'm not a huge card person anymore, but it would be a cool concept to add true rookie cards from when players where in the DSFL or even a draft day card. I realize people don't really care about the DSFL and the cards would be the lowest rank due to the TPE ranges deciding the rarity of the cards, but I think they would add some nostalgia factor. In real world sports card collecting, the rookie cards are often the most sought after since they are typically the rarest. Once someone is famous, they start pumping out the cards because that is what people want. If there were a limited release of a certain amount of each rookie card when they were drafted, I think it would make more of a desire for early on players to invest in cards. Ultimately, though, this would require a trading system to be enacted. If there are limited addition cards, then some players would never have a chance of getting them. If they really wanted them, they could trade for one. Or there could be a “black market” type process where players put their rare cards up for sale/bid and people can try to get the rare cards that way. I kind of rambled on there at the end with the logistics of the whole limited edition draft cards, but that’s what I’d add. It’s nothing to complicated. 236 Words RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - GoonerBear - 09-07-2020 SHL Championship Week RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - ZootTX - 09-07-2020 I can’t actually comment much on the Dotts trading card system, because I haven’t bought any. As a new user who hasn’t earned a lot of money, I’m spending what little I have on weekly trainings at this point. While I realize that $500k isn’t a ton of money for some of the older, more established players that have millions in the bank, it is for a lot of us newer or less active players to spend when it costs approx $20 million a season to max out weekly training and equipment. So my first suggestion would be to either lower the price of the packs overall or offer different levels of packs. I mean, it looks cool, so I would spend some money, just not $500k. I’ll also offer some other suggestions based on my limited understanding of how this all works. Perhaps there could be rookie packs, based on season. It would be cool to have both the rookie card and hall of fame card of the same player where their rookie card features their DSFL team, and their other features their ISFL team(s). Another fun option would be a college series that features current DSFL/ISFL players in their college days. Overall the Dotts card system looks fun, but is currently a bit rich for my blood. 221 words RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - KC15 - 09-07-2020 PBE PT +3 TPE RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - ComebackZak - 09-07-2020 PBE Affiliate RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - Tesla - 09-07-2020 I want to open by saying I quite like this prompt as someone who is enjoying their Dotts experience thus far. Quite easy for me to come up with several fun suggestions that I would love to see come to fruition. Some that are feasible and some that very much are not feasible most likely. I have a background in trading card games actually as I have played Magic: The Gathering, the Pokemon Trading Card Game, Yu-Gi-Oh, and even Duel Masters. So some of these ideas might actually be worthwhile. First and most reasonably would be multiple subscription options. Right now the league adds more actives in a draft than you can draw in a season, and that is before you take into consideration awards cards. I have over 200 million in the bank and possess a solid salary from my media work. If I could buy a five pack a day subscription to be able to flesh out my library I would. Second and still reasonably would be user Hall of Fame cards. Based on the answer to my questions in the podcast I do not believe this is a thing at the moment, but would be super cool to see in my not at all humble opinion. There are a few users who I would go above and beyond to try to get their cards and it would be sort of like the top tier cards in Triple Triad I feel. Plus it would make an Agent Tesla card a possibility down the road which makes my heart sing. Third and less feasibly would be a singles market. There are a few cards that I have basically zero chance of getting through a draw before they phase out in the form of award cards and would love to be able to just throw down a pile of money to get them. Extending from that the ability to buy 'out of print' cards could be cool as I would love to have a Magnus at every TPE tier, but that is going to be impossible because of when Dotts launched as it stands. (That could also be used per the suggestion in the point task of adding older awards cards. Just make them more and more obscenely expensive to purchase. People will either bankrupt themselves to get them, or as has happened thus far it would lead to a boom of media production. Either of which I feel would be a positive in regards to the league.) Fourth and probably least viable would be different booster pack options. Examples being a team booster pack so that you only get New Orleans players for instance. A more expensive jumbo pack that gives more cards. A more expensive guaranteed rare pack that will always give one of the hard to get cards. A positional pack that will only give you offensive line players perhaps. Fifth and this will never happen, but I love it for selfish reasons. A Media Nobility series with Podcast Emperor Joe, Media Queen Tesla, Podcast Archduke Sylphreni, Media King Isa, Podcast King Sloth, et cetera. You could also go with the Colossi of Capitalism with the richest players in the league like Infinite, Isa, or Tesla. Sloth might be my favorite of the sins, but pride is still comfortably in that second spot after all. Now this is only partially a Dotts change, but if we truly want to take money out of the economy it might be worth looking at changing rules regarding pack opening media. I do not mind them as a media grader, however I do know several users have made profits by doing media based on what they open in their Dotts pack. Which kind of defeats the purpose of a money sink. That said I enjoy the joy that Dotts has brought to so many players so this is just mostly to flesh out the suggestion list with one more possible suggestion. Also I know solutions to duplicates is being looked into at the moment, and assuming we cannot track duplicates currently it would be nice to be given packs to accommodate the lost cards. Since all pack purchases are tracked and are for six cards the amount of cards everyone should have should be known. Even if we do not know the exact cards that they should have duplicates of at the moment. This ended up way longer than I needed it to be for this point task and I normally wait until Wednesday to do these, but Dotts is just such an exciting experience for me. There is something exciting about seeing whether I will get a player I recognize, or perhaps a rare player I never met. Thank you for the fun inspiration in these times and for this quality point task. Cheers! From my understanding within the league, the reason why people take minimum contracts is to help the team, because they can accomplish everything they want to by making money through other means. There are many ways I feel to change this. This first would be to add a stricter cap on weekly earnings with media and graphics. This would reduce the amount you can make in seasonal earnings. The other would be to add more stuff to use the money on like how the card trading system works. Some of this could be more of an incentive though through furthering player development. This would attract the attention of just about everyone in this league since that is one of the top goals of the league. Compared to other things like trading cards which are mainly attracting people who like to collect and already have an influx of money to spend. Adding additional tiers to equipment will require more people to spend even more money each season to max earn and beat out their peers. This would take more money out of circulation which would directly increase the sim money value. Which in turn would make people want more money out of their contracts. I don’t think touching cap right now would be a good idea. The reason GM’s and teams push for minimum contracts is to leave more cap space, decreasing cap room would only increase this behavior. On the other side increasing cap room would allow for contracts to be handed out left and right creating a new minimum and devaluing the sim dollar. You could also just increase the minimum contract amount which would directly address the min contract issue. RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - Emi - 09-08-2020 PBE Affiliation RE: (S24) - PT 5 - Trade Ya - Jimi64 - 09-08-2020 I think that, with trivia gone, Dotts would be a great way to teach some of the newer users like myself the history of the league. Although the cards have this potential in their current state simply by generating discussion about who was received in packs and why certain cards are ruby or sapphire, I think another addition can enhance this: a backside to the cards. The backs of trading cards usually depict career stats and even an interesting piece of trivia about the player. I think it would be really cool to read these little snippets about a player’s best game, an important contribution they made to the league, or a record they broke while they played. I understand this is a whole lot of more work, but it would personally get me more motivated to collect cards. Even if the interesting facts aren’t feasible, simply finding a way to easily copy and paste stats would make a huge difference for me. Currently, I can ask others if they’ve heard of a player, but if they say no, then my interest sort of dies there. I could use the search function on the forum, but it’s too much effort at that point. My mindset is that if a higher up on my team doesn’t know the player, they probably aren’t worth the search. 224 words |
