RE: (S26) - PT 3 - Oh, the Who-manity! - Tylar - 12-14-2020 This season in Tijuana there is a Toy drive called Toy Mountain and Timmy Dimbi was asked to be apart of it by being on radio shows to advertise and also be at the drop off spot for donations to thank individuals bringing toys. This initiative is a team one but Timmy Dimbi was asked to do this one alone this season due to COVID restrictions and gather sizes. Normally the toy drive take places in a local mall where an actual mountain of toys is put together through dontations but obviously things this year had to change. Toy Mountain donates toys to kids who may not get a toy for christmas and provides those kids from ages 0 to 13 at least one toy to open on Christmas morning. This inititative is special to Timmy as it reminds him of back home doing volunteer work with his parents church and working in soup kitchens. Timmy Dimbi has always done charity work and loves doing it, especially around the holidays. In Timmy Dimbi's mind, everyone deserves to have a happy holiday and he is willing to put in volunteer time to make it happen for others because he is infact blessed with his life it is the least he can do. It is not unusual to find her in the offseason visiting kids in the local children's hospital or delivering groceries and other supplies to seniors in need. However, while she is supportive of more traditional volunteer opportunities that involve helping her fellow humans, she's always had a stronger affinity for helping animals. Over the last month or so, she's been paying special attention to a cause near and dear to her heart by spending some time with the Austin Wildlife Rescue organization. This organization rehabilitates and releases orphaned, sick, and injured wild animals and also spends time educating the public on how to properly co-exist with wildlife. Watts first got involved with Austin Wildlife Rescue when she found a malnourished baby raccoon trapped in a storm drain. AWR took the raccoon in and nursed it back to health before eventually releasing it again. Encouraged by the cause, Watts got involved to help other animals as well. She's not afraid to get her hands dirty and spends the majority of her time feeding animals, washing their blankets, and cleaning enclosures and dishes. She also supports some of the organization's education efforts by travelling to schools to teach kids about how to properly approach wild animals that might need their assistance, like baby birds or bunnies that have strayed from their nests. Most recently, Watts and the AWR have been involved in a joint holiday venture with the Austin Humane Society to help find stray dogs and cats new homes. RE: (S26) - PT 3 - Oh, the Who-manity! - TheSparkyDee - 12-15-2020 Mike Hunt since joining the DSFL with Minnesota Grey Ducks. He has took up a fascination to the the young men and women who were playing football in this unkept field. It was big enough to create a field for different sports. He saw kids playing all different sports like football, baseball, field hockey, and even soccer. Mike thought to himself why not work and get some sports fields made for these young men and women in the Minneapolis area! He worked all Christmas holiday with the city people and decided to purchase that area of land and build 4 different sports fields, he made a 60 yard football field. He also made a soccer/field hockey field, and even a baseball diamond. Mike made this foundation for the young kids who want to have a nice place to play and grow for the love of the game like he did. He created a foundation in memory of father Doug Hunt Foundation because his father use to help the young kids and gave them his back yard to practice and grow. Mike helped these young men and women get better and maybe one day grow up and play in the ISFL like him! 202 words RE: (S26) - PT 3 - Oh, the Who-manity! - supertardis101 - 12-15-2020 PBE PT - http://probaseballexperience.jcink.net/index.php?showtopic=16334&st=30&#entry253087 RE: (S26) - PT 3 - Oh, the Who-manity! - iStegosauruz - 12-15-2020 PBE PT @iStegosauruz careful with the links, no idea why but the link takes me to the top of the page where your submission is. RE: (S26) - PT 3 - Oh, the Who-manity! - Crodyman - 12-15-2020 The Holiday Season in Minneapolis has not been the same since the Grey Ducks drafted Wasrabi Gleel in season 24. The weekend before Christmas, fans and members of the community are invited to the Quack Shack to begin a holiday themed tailgate party known as “The Wasrabi Gleel “Ham”boree!” Alongside his teammates and local catering company “Quack Snacks,” Gleel and his team serve a delicious spiral bone-in ham dinner for up to 500 hungry fans. Other events include an ice sculpture contest, competitive snowball fights, and the opportunity to catch a pass from DSFL QB Ryan Negs! After a few hours of music and merriment, and when everyone has had their fill of Ham and Cocoa, the main event of the Hamboree takes place: The Minnesota Gift Swap! There is no cost of admission to join the Hamboree, but it is required to bring a gift, no matter how big or small, to add to the Gift Pile: a massive tower of various wrapped gifts. The last hour of the Hamboree is Wasrabi and his cohorts distributing the gifts amongst the crowd until no presents remain in the pile. Despite the ever increasing likelihood that Gleel will be leaving Minnesota for Chicago to join the ISFL next season, he’s quoted as saying he’d like to continue this tradition for the people of Minneapolis wherever his football career takes him. (230 words) RE: (S26) - PT 3 - Oh, the Who-manity! - KillaScrilla - 12-15-2020 This holiday season I would be giving back to my community through serving food at the local homeless shelter and also blessing a local family or two by paying 6 months rent and utilities. Growing up I was lucky that my dad was able to provide us with whatever we needed or even wanted. He also instilled in us that we should never take anything for granted. Who knows when my playing days are over? It could all end tomorrow and where would I be? Ive learned to save my money and invest wisely but not everyone does that. A couple of unlucky breaks and I could be the guy on the corner asking for money. I try not to judge people that are down on their luck, we all have the habit of doing it though. Riding through downtown and seeing all the homeless really hurts. I wish I could do more. Making sure they have food and some warm clothes this cold holiday season though is a good start. People are struggling right now with the pandemic and all. People losing their jobs or hours being cut back can put a real stain on this holiday season. Therefore I decided that I will pick 6 random families and pay their utilities and rent for 6 months. That way they can focus their resources on their children and family this Christmas. That kid will get his new bike or Xbox. The fiance can finally get her engagement ring thats been in the store for the last year. Anyway I can just brighten their day and change lives. *This is the first Christmas without my dad in real life, which Christmas happens to be his birthday also, so I might take the week off. Good luck to all my Hawk brothers.* |
