RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - ValorX77 - 02-01-2021 The arrival of the new sim engine is a breath of fresh air that the league needs right now. One big I noticed is the emergence of how super team offenses are tearing up the league as league scoring has been way up compared to last season. Another thing I’ve noticed in this new sim is the emergence of stronger Running backs, for example, Rando Cardrissian, once considered an afterthought to Jamar Lackson, has broken out to be the dominant committee in the conference and potentially the best in the whole league. Baby Yoda also emerged as one the top backs in the league, just take a look at his week 2 performance, 280+ yards from scrimmage, 3 touchdowns total. Defenses were also changed in this new sim, unfortunately, secondaries have been devastated in the new sim, as more teams have been relying more on the ground game, and some of them can be used as wide receivers. The d line has never been stronger, sacks and TFL’s have been way up in the new sim, which also brings up a new urgency for offensive linemen, that’s why teams such as San Jose and Chicago are controlling the league this season and are likely on a collision course with each over. RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - Vaelynn - 02-01-2021 As a true rookie to Sim football I have had a blast figuring things out and getting started here. I think, so far, I have claimed every available TPE since I began my career. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy the games as much as the progress, but I was really wrong – the games themselves are really entertaining. My friends (who all started at the same time as me) and I all get together and watch the games, loudly commentating and exclaiming when we see one of our names get called out for making a play. Collectively, we have 5 touchdowns, an interception, 3 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, and 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries… and that’s only in two games, so we have had a lot to get excited about. The culture of the league is even better. I was drafted to the Portland Pythons (go snakes) and experiencing the locker room community has made it even more fun for me. Something about the way everyone participates and cares about the game makes you want to get everything done to improve your player… anything you can do to improve your team’s chances of getting the Ultimini. Overall, I had my skepticism entering the league, but I was blown away quickly by how entertaining it is. As for the streams, I love the commentary – this is the only sim that I’ve ever seen, but I do think it’s hilarious that we have light jazz as the background music a lot of the time. I think the pace of the game makes the watching experience so much easier to digest and the fact that there is a little ball on the screen just makes it so much better to enjoy the action. I think the fields look great and I have to say my favorite homefield is definitely the home of my silverbacks. As a defensive player I've had a much easier time cheering for my player because of the pace and the overall better design in the new sim. I can actually follow my player as he rushes the QB and that is huge to me. As for my player, I feel like the combination of just having become a starter for the first time with this team and the new sim I was very nervous about my level of production coming into the new season. Fortunately even in moments of worrying Brick has managed to pull out a sack every game so far and this is definitely something that excites me. I can't wait to keep raising my TPE and to keep watching Brick hopefully produce more and more over the season. Also it helps to be 2-0! RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - Booger - 02-01-2021 I’ve been able to tune into only a couple games so far this season. Overall, my first impression is a good one. I had been somewhat worried about the mobile viewing experience since in the streams showed prior to week 1 using the new sim, the stats had been very hard to see and the the play-by-play text was nearly impossible to make out on a mobile screen. I was delighted to see that most of the border had been cropped out for week 1, and it definitely made a big difference in the overall viewing experience. I loved the on-field design, with my favorite being the Colorado Yetis. The mountains going along the sidelines with Wolfie Advertisements placed strategically around them looked fantastic. As for my player, it’s safe to say he isn’t doing very well. I’ve racked up 5 tackles so far this season and nothing else, but I understand it is still very early in the season and that I’ve got plenty of time to improve. The Sailfish are doing pretty well overall, ending the first week of streams with a 1-1 record. We did play on the road at Yellowknife and in Colorado, so just to get 1 win out of that stretch is above average. RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - Amulos - 02-01-2021 I am really enjoying the new sim right now. Although I never used the old sim, I like the visual aspect of the game and it has really turned the games into a spectacle. My buddies and I spend our Tuesday and Thursday nights catching the games and I think it's allowed us to get more invested into our players. I know there are occasionally some hilarious and ridiculous plays that happen, for example, watching my QB run 15 yards past the line of scrimmage, then throwing an incomplete pass after having given us a first down already. I also enjoy the big play ability that this sim provides, I feel like TPE has less of an effect on the outcome of the game and that "underdog" teams still have a shot if the sim is kind. Either way, I haven't had any experience with previous iterations of the sim, but from a new players perspective it has been really cool to watch. Some aspects of the sim are pretty odd like the procedurally generated faces, my twin and I are different races for example. It would be sweet if we somehow got a say in what they look like, and it gives you a really cool way of engaging with the sim. 213 RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - ZootTX - 02-01-2021 I think anyone who’s been paying attention to the new sim and the affects it’s having on this ISFL season certainly has developed a few opinions about it, more so if you are involved in any sort of sim testing. Let’s start with some of the pros. First off, I think most players are liking the new trait system, as it allows more customization of your player’s build. I also like the new field designs. Of course, I like Yellowknife’s field designs the best. Some of the new stats that are available are cool, and the personality traits are hilarious. The index gives you a lot more access to stats and such than the old one. Now, let’s talk about the cons. The games are sloooow, and the display format during the sim streams are very hard to follow in my opinion. If you’ve actually messed with the sim at all, the constant loading between every screen is extremely frustrating. As far as player performance, I was delighted my first game to score 2 TD’s, a rarity for a tight end. Of course, my second game was me doing little. So far it has been hit or miss. I know the sim transition team has put in a lot of hard work making the switch, and I hope that some of the issues can be resolved eventually, but some of them are native to this sim and never going away. Such is the life of sim football. 247 words RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - supertardis101 - 02-01-2021 PBE PT - http://probaseballexperience.jcink.net/index.php?showtopic=17328&view=findpost&p=271590 RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - KC15 - 02-01-2021 PBE Affiliate PT RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - Painted - 02-01-2021 As a new player, I have only seen games that use the new sim, so I cannot really say how it compares to the old sim. But I do quite like the new sim and being able to see everyone and everthing clash together! The custom field backdrops have been awesome to see, especially when teams get creative with the color of the field and do things similar to Boise State, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Washington, etc. My player has been outstanding both in preseason and in the first game of the DSFL for the Grey Ducks! Despite the loss to BBB, Soulja racked up a team high of 8 tackles, one pass defended, and an interception! Even in preseason he should a lot of awareness to be in the right place at the right time, so I am very excited to see each new game and hope the trends continue. Of the field designs, I have really liked both the Grey Ducks and Royals fields. They are both really simple and at the same time flashy and unique. It also helps that I really like both of their logos and colors. Overall, I am quite pleased with the new sim and how I am performing, just got to keep it up!! Words: 211 RE: (S27) PT1 - First Impressions - RedArrow12c - 02-01-2021 Well I really have nothing bad to say about this first week with the new sim, and the first week with my player in the DSFL. Nothing but good things happened, as I had a pretty solid debut, not the best debut in history but definitely a good debut, and I had a pancake block for some reason? That was definitely a first, but it was a cool experience. More importantly than my personal success, though, was the team utterly dominating! We shutout our opponents, winning 39-0 in a blowout that featured a record breaking performance from our kicker who banged in SIX field goals! It was an amazing performance all around, and I am looking forward to many more games with this amazing team. We are going to be a force to be reckoned with, and everyone will soon fear our team, for we are going to make our presence felt. Hopefully I can keep making things happen with my arm and with my legs, and I am sure that as I play more and grow into this new style of play that I will find success with everyone around me pushing me to get better. I couldn't ask for a better team to push me to where I want to go, and I want the team to get there with me. 223 Words |
