Have you ever looked up at a giant, majestic oak tree and thought to yourself, “Damn, that’s a good looking tree.”? The answers is yes, yes you have. What you didn’t know is that you may have Owen Taylor to thank for that. You see, in his off-season, Taylor is what’s known as an arborist, and runs a small tree-care business. As an arborist, his job is to make sure a tree is healthy, trim away all dead or dangerous branches, consult clients on tree purchases, and just generally make trees look pretty. It’s almost like he’s a hair stylist or barber, but for trees…If your barber cut hair with a chain saw.

At first it started as a part-time job in college but now, it’s how he spends the majority of his off-season when he isn’t staying in football shape. The pay isn’t amazing, but his NSFL contract more than covers his relatively low-key lifestyle. Truth be told, the job has become much more difficult since he joined the Hawks, though. In 2 short years of working with the Hawks weight training staff he has gained over 40 pounds of “muscle” and tips the scale at just around 320 pounds. Unfortunately for Taylor, this severely limits the number of trees he’s able to actually climb in. He just got so fat…

While unfair to name names, it is very heavily rumoured that one of the leagues top kickers has quite a serious gambling problem, as a result it has left him heavily indebted to one of the most notorious loan sharks in Las Vegas.

And while the pay of a professional kicker in the NSFL is nothing to be sniffed at, it is well known that the kickers are not exactly the highest paid of players in the league, and when your in-season salary isn't enough to keep your family looked after, all the while bribing a variety of journalists to not print that one article that could ruin your career, while also having to balance interest repayments to that loan shark in vegas, well lets just say there are certain things that you do, that you wish you did not have to.

That's right ladies and gentlemen, one of the league leading kickers does what it takes, or rather takes what is needed, in order to keep his career alive and his wife living the life that she is accustomed to.

This nameless face, is gay for pay. And while he get's away with it by specializing in bondage films where his face is covered by a gimp mask - next time you are looking at one of these "specialist" movies, keep an eye out for the actor's leg muscles.

Cause while this booter is taking it in the film, he's giving it to the ball on game day.

During the offseason Micah Hendrix works at the local high school in Philadelphia as a substitute teacher and as a strength and conditioning coach with the various sports teams. Hendrix hopes to pursue a career in teaching after he retires from professional football, so this is a good first step for him. Of course he can't commit to being a full time teacher because of the football season and offseason workouts, so this setup gives him the flexibility to get teaching experience but to also keep up with his training.

He'd also like to coach high school football as well, so being a teacher and coach would be the ideal setup. He's a great mentor for new players on the team and a positive influence in the locker room in the NSFL, so he hopes that he can bring that same attitude to help inspire a new generation of students and athletes. Unfortunately with the way the high school football season and workouts line up with the NSFL season and training camps, Hendrix hasn't been able to work directly with the football team. But, he has helped a lot of athletes that play football and another spring sport like lacrosse or track and field in their training.

It definitely seems like Hendrix is doing all that he can to prepare himself for his career after football. And who knows, maybe one day Mr. H will be teaching the kids of some of the players in the NSFL today.

This will be his first offseason as a rookie, but Eli Kamaka likes to take it easy and intends to spend the entire time back home in Hawaii with friends and family. He loves not having a set schedule and after a grueling NSFL season the offseason will be a much appreciated break. He hopes his days will vary between hiking, reading, writing, and volunteering at the high school. Some days he’ll just want to lounge around the house watching Netflix or spending all day at the beach surfing. Kamaka is a frugal saver as many of his teammates will attest and he doesn’t spend his money frivolously so he won’t be hurting for money this offseason.

This year, Kamaka plans to hold a youth football camp in his home town of Honolulu and is planning to volunteer his time as a mentor to young players as they enter college. He wants to give back to the community that’s loved and supported him through the years and this is one of the best ways he knows how to contribute. Kamaka may even invite some of his Philadelphia Liberty teammates to the camp as well and turn it into a Hawaiian retreat!

Back in his days at LSU, after spending 70-80% of his free time in bars, anyway, Kennedy became a bartender in his spare time. He originally put in time as a bouncer, but after he was caught starting the fights, bar management moved behind the counter. To this day, he still retains to bartending in the New Orleans area, where he attracts a following because his time spent with LSU. Most of his work takes place at lesser-known local bars that are off the tourist path as he usually prefers to avoid attention during the off-season, but Kennedy does do routine appearances as a guest bartender at popular sports bars. He tries to keep these appearances limited, so that the novelty doesn’t wear off, but it usually draws a good crowd as many hardcore football fans in the area aren’t aware of his typical bartending spots. He’s had to switch spots in the past, but found a good spot after Season 2 and is hoping to return to that bar again this off-season. Of course, a story about Kennedy wouldn’t be complete if we weren’t talking about fighting alligators or hitting on Tom Benson’s niece, so we suspect some sort of trouble will rear its head, likely forcing him to find employment at a new bar. However, if that alligator that attacked him on reality TV bothers to show its face in the same bar as Kennedy, let’s just say that his experience as a bouncer will play a role.

In the off-season, Noah Goodson works as an infomerical host for various products that come on many cable stations late at night. Noah Goodson is somewhat renowned for his endurance, he once had a 6 hour infomerical of him hawking a flashlight that is also a bowie knife. Goodson's charming charisma has pushed out many unnecessary gadgets and widgets to people staying up late, watching TV and armed with a credit card. Noah Goodson has a lot of catchy phrases and really drives home the "quality" of the product. Goodson is a familiar face, and his endorsement is practically selling the wares now through his name alone. The Goodson brand is on the rise. Goodson describes his personal favorite infomerical:

[div align=\\\"center\\\"]"We were pushing these dual-saw chainsaws, they were somewhat ridiculous by infomerical standards, but I tell you what, they sold like a beauty and made for a nice paycheck that month. It's tough when you're not getting that weekly check during the football season. I do this to keep my life style going."[/div]

Goodson has been on the record saying that he'll still do the infomericals even if he makes it big in the NSFL. We'll keep our eyes out on that. The promising linebacker might not be inclined to do the infomericals with such frequency when the NSFL money starts rolling in.

During the off-season, Alexandre LeClair usually goes back to Montreal to relax and then train physically in preparation for the next season. Along the way he also helps out a friend up north of Quebec City with his tree cutting company. Of course, LeClair does not do this for free and does receive good compensation for his seasonal work as a part-time lumberjack. The trade his now heavily mechanized but the company still uses chainsaws to cut down the lumber. Often going over difficult terrain, the tools have to be transported by foot on uneven terrain. Now it may seem like all work and no play but all this lifting, cutting, and trekking is the real secret to Alexandre LeClair’s much improved form in the past season. In terms of revenue, it does put a bit of food on the table but for the most part, LeClair does this for himself and to help his friend.

After witnessing his much improved condition last season, a few of his teammates on the Las Vegas Legion have also expressed interest in participating in what they now dub “LeClair’s Summer Lumber Camp”. It is not known whether or not LeClair’s friend has the budget to hire all these players for this but it should surely generate a good amount of publicity. And when there’s publicity to be made, a TV channel will be ready to jump on it and turn this all into a reality TV show. Maybe…

Mike Boss is still currently under his rookie contract and thus not making a lot of money. Perhaps after the year he will finally cash in and get a huge contract from the Orange county otters or another team that could use his services. So in order to make more money he needed to pick up a few extra jobs. One of those jobs is a model for flannel and plaid shirts and jackets. This was an easy choice for the cash strapped quarterback. Boss is seen every where sporting his brand of flannel. On and off the field, at his home and in the locker room. If you look closely during a game you can see his plaid socks that he wears. He has never worn the same pair of socks twice. Boss has flannel everything in his wardrobe so he was the obvious choice to become their spokesman. I heard rumors of a new line of underwear he would be modeling soon as well. You can see Boss down at Warehouse 12 in Orange county sporting his goods with a plethora of onlookers. On Friday nights he even takes all of it off for a few extra bucks.
