Playoff Series MVP: Choose an MVP for one of the playoff series and write about why you chose them. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about

Offensive Player Each Team:

Philadelphia Liberty
The player I am choose for the Liberty is going to be Clifford Rove because as the former QB of the future for the Liberty, I would like to choose the current QB of the present and the future in Rove. Rove is a very intelligent Quarterback as he can read the plays very well and know when exactly to throw the ball when he is in trouble. He also has a pretty decent arm in both accuracy and power. He is a nice Game Manager and knows how to slow down the game for his players when they are ahead and knows when to hustle down the field when they need to get some points when they are behind. Rove should be one of the better QB's in the league for a long time.

Baltimore Hawks
The player for the hawks to look out for is Darlane Farlane who is one of the better backs in the game and he can change it with just one rush. His game is all about speed as he is a Speed back. His Speed is second to none in the league with a rating of almost 89/100. He is pretty agile too which complements his speed well. The difference maker is his endurance, he doesn't get tired as fast as most backs despite his game being focused around speed.

These two players will be the big differences in this game in the playoffs.

Defensive Comparison:

Arizona Outlaws
On the defensive side for the Outlaws, it is hard to ignore Jayce Tuck as he stands 6'5 and weighs in a 320 pounds. The Defensive end is almost maxed out for his practice in everything useful. He is at max Strength (90/90), Agility (75/75), Intelligence (70/70), Tackling (80/80) and Speed (80/80). He is working on getting his endurance up and right now it is at 87/100 so after that he will pretty much be a perfect player for his style which is a Run Stopper. So you know the Orange Coutny Otters have their hands full with Tuck

Orange County Otters
For the Otters, they counter Jayce Tuck with big Linebacker Ian Bavitz. He stands at 6'4, 230 pounds. He too is maxed out in some attributes with Strength (80/80), Intelligence (80/80) and Speed (90/90). His Agility is almost at max with 80/90 while Tackling and Endurance are in good form as well. Either way, I don't want to be facing either one of these guys in any game.

These two need to come up huge if the defence want to stop the offense of the other team. These two are probably the two best defensive players in the NSFL so we get to see these two terrorize eachothers team every season in the conference battles.

Bottom Half:
The Colorado Yeti finished dead last in the NSFL because of their young QB Nicolas Pierno. This is not a knock against the youngster as he has some great potential but for right now he just wasn't good enough to lead a NSFL team. He threw for 2209 yards on 181 completions. Though this came on 382 attempts. He had a completion rating of 48.2 percent of his throws which simply wasn't good enough. He also threw for just 8 touchdowns compared to 35 interceptions. Yikes. Maybe I missed something because Logan Noble is on the roster it says but he didn't play a single game so he must have been suspended. Either way, the QB position needs to be better for next season for the Yeti to get better.

The San Jose Sabrecats finished 3rd from bottom because they didn't have an adequate running game. Starting back Jack Durden wasn't good enough as for starting backs, he finished last in the NSFL with 857 yards on 288 carries which was just 3 yards per carry. He did also have 4 touchdowns but for a back in this league you need to be better than 3 yards per carry and need to have more than 1000 yards to have a great running game.

Season 3 Trade:
BAL receive WR Stormblessed
LVL receive S4 1st, S4 2nd and WR John Baker

A trade that can make a huge difference in the playoffs this season look no further than this one right here. The Baltimore Hawks receive Stormblessed who is one of the better receivers in the league while the Legion go into a rebuild looking to pick up picks and warm bodies to fill the roster while they rebuild. With a 1st and 2nd in this season draft that will be a decent start to the rebuild plus Baker could fill some of the void left by Stormblessed.

Stormblessed on the other hand formed a nice core of receivers in Baltimore with Trey Willie, Cooper Christmas and Matthew Vincent. For the season, Stormblessed had 982 yards receiving for 17.9 average per attempt for 8 touchdowns. That is pretty great. He could be a big difference maker in these playoffs. This was just behind teammate Trey Willie who had 1163 passing yards for an average of 18.2 per completion for 3 touchdowns.

The way the draft picks turn out will be a huge indicator on how this trade is viewed. Hopefully the Legion don't mess up the picks.

(S3) - Ultimus Week - BOOM™ - 10-18-2017

Offensive Comparison: Compare one offensive player from each team in a series. Can be completed at any point.

With several high quality quarterbacks here in the NSFL, it was difficult to choose the two offensive players to compare. Two of the most dominant however, have been Arizona's King Bronko and the Otters QB, Mike Boss. Both have had terrific seasons for their respective teams especially Boss who is in strong contention, if not favoritism for QBOTY. His combinations with Orange County's Robert Phelps and Bradley Westfield has been amazing to watch as an NSFL fan here in season 3. His 4649 yards from 624 attempts coupled with a completion rating of just under 61(60.9 to be exact) and a stellar 30 touchdowns were the catalysts for Orange County's somewhat successful play. Allowing only 12 interceptions and finishing the season with a Passer Rating of 91.9, Mike Boss has shown why he will command a big dollar deal this off-season and the Otters will be hoping he's wearing the orange uniform again in S4.

Over in Arizona, the Outlaws have once again been led to the promised land by the ever reliable King Bronko and his 25 touchdown, 3650 yard season. With another excellent passer rating of 91.6, his 495 pass attempts were a complement to the strong running game that they used for the majority of the season. While not quite putting up Boss-like numbers, he's been key to the Outlaws 3rd straight Ultimus appearance and will be looking to be a difference maker up against the Baltimore Hawks.

Bottom Half: Write about why two of the four teams were not able to make the playoffs.

The NSFL works in mysterious ways and explaining why two of the teams didn't make the playoffs is like trying to explain how Donald "Pumpkin Head" Trump ended up as the president. Who the hell knows? Still, I'll attempt to come up with some reasoning for why the first of these two teams, the Colorado Yeti, finished dead last in the NSFC and stood no chance of experiencing the post-season. Having Logan Noble as both GM and their star quarterback was a death sentence for the Yeti. Having such an important piece of the team suspended for several infractions tore out their heart and ruined their offensive capabilities. Players wanted out, demanding trades to other teams and no longer wanting to be associated with the Yeti franchise and the replacement GM complied too easily, trading away active players for draft picks, and leaving the team to simply tank the season in preparation for a rebuild. Whether that approach works out, remains to be seen, as the upcoming draft isn't as deep as expected so the team from Colorado might be in for yet another long and painful season.

More of a shock as far as teams missing from the playoff's, was the usually strong Yellowknife Wraiths. Favored in the division by some so called "experts" in the NSFL, the Wraiths proved disappointing and offered little for their fans. They didn't have much to crow about during the season but a 34-9 demolition of Orange County in the third week of the season offered a glimmer of hope, which was soon dashed by crucial losses to aforementioned Colorado Yeti in week nine and a devastating 31-28 loss to the Sabercats in week twelve that crushed their hopes of a post-season appearance. Unlike the Yeti, the Sabercats had a good roster that should have been more competitive in season 3. Led by such talent as Orosz and Nuck, surely season four will see a return to the playoffs for the boys from Yellowknife.

Julian O'Sullivan has shown physical ability and natural talent both as a run defender and in pass coverage. He continues to grow and will be an asset for the Otters for seasons to come. That's why he is my S3 Future Talent pick! @JuOSu

Appreciate the shoutout <3

(S3) - Ultimus Week - ErMurazor - 10-18-2017

Two of the top defensive linemen in the league will be facing off in the Ultimus game. Kurt Hendrix and Jayce Tuck are two defensive ends that have been putting quarterbacks in the dirt since season 1. Their skills are beyond just the physical, though neither are lacking there as they both round out the top in league commitment and physical attributes at their positions. In season 2 Tuck and Hendrix were close in stats for the majority of the season, with Hendrix right on Tuck’s tail. In season three both players have continued to grind but Tuck has pulled way ahead statistically. Hendrix is sitting at a respectable 12 sacks, but he’s not even 5th in the league at his position. Tuck is blowing up the record books with an out of this world 32 sacks. These players similarities go beyond their physical traits. Off the field their names are often lumped together for their understanding of the game where they often play critical roles in getting their team wins and assisting with schemes and game planning. This season they’re 1-1 against each other, but the tie breaker has high stakes. The Ultimus is the biggest game of the season and if Hendrix wants to have a shot of competing with Tuck as the top DE he needs to show up big in the championship game.

Avon Blocksdale and Tim Pest are two of the top tackles in the NSFL and they will be the two best offensive tackles playing in the Ultimus two years in a row. But, I will be honest saying they’re only being included in the same sentence because this prompt is forcing me to compare them. Tim Pest is the best offensive lineman in the league and he is way out of Blocksdale’s league. Tim pest has 75 pancakes in season three and hasn’t allowed a sack since his Pre-Rookie year in S1. That is ridiculous. Blocksdale has allowed 2 sacks and only has 54 pancakes. Tim Pest has also proven that he’s the strongest man in the league with well over 500 TPE and 100 strength, the maximum a human body can handle before tearing itself apart. Now, don’t get me wrong, Blocksdale is an incredible player and any team in the league would be happy to have him, but he just doesn’t hold a candle to what Tim Pest puts on the field each and every week. Tim Pest is everything you want in an offensive lineman: he’s big, strong, quiet, and mean. When defenders line up against him they know they’re in for a long day, and he’s got that crazy silent demeanor that leaves you wondering if he’s going to murder somebody after the game or pet a bunny to death.

The most important trade of season 3 involved the Arizona Outlaws and the Colorado Yeti. The Outlaws were involved in a league-wide arms race to cement their three-peat and everybody was buying in Colorado. In a trade that sent promising young upstart Vick Erikson to Colorado, the Outlaws acquired Philippe Carter, one of the league’s top corners. The Outlaws have been known for their rough, opportunistic defense since they won it all in season 1 but the weakness was always the back end of the unit. They were able to build up a strong core of safeties but still needed a corner back to keep up with the league’s top corners and that’s exactly what they found in Carter. Previously the pressure of the front 7 was able to prevent opposing quarterbacks from consistently making plays downfield to their receivers and less skilled corners were able to get the occasional opportunistic play. With Carter shadowing wide receiver ones that Outlaws defense has been the place the dreams of opposing quarterbacks go to die. The Outlaws strategy for season 3 has been to protect the ball on offense, punt, and dare you to try to beat the monstrosity that is their defense. Teams have failed to rise to that challenge. Along the ride Carter has shut down WR after WR. Currently Carter leads the league in PDs, has forced a fumble and scored a TD, while also being 3rd in the league in interceptions. In the Outlaws system the little-known corner from Colorado has thrived in a relationship that has benefitted all on the unit. With Carter keeping receivers covered, the DL also has more time to get to the QB. This trade has created a force that opposing teams rightfully fear.

The Hawks offensive line is going to have a match-up nightmare facing the front 7 of the Arizona Outlaws. These guys can get to the quarterback from every position on the line and they have an incredible group of line backers that can all get to the QB and the ball carrier. The Hawks line isn’t terrible by any means, they’re a decent unit with some solid players, but the Outlaws front 7 has as much TPE as the entire Legion roster (don’t fact check that one I made it up, but the fact that you’re not sure if it’s true is the point). In S2 teams had games where they could triple team a threat and keep the Outlaws at bay. In S3 if you double team one guy, the other has feasted. They’re all good enough to beat their guys one on one. Going down the line I don’t see a single match-up that I think favors the Hawks. Tuck vs. Blocksdale, give me Tuck. King vs Koch and Danvers, give me King (he’s 4th in sacks with 22!), Juan Andres (who?!) vs. Big Bot, I’ll take the Bot. Brokk Lee vs. Dental Dam, I’ll take Dam. The Outlaws win those match-ups every time and that’s not even taking into account that they have three of the league’s best linebackers right there to blitz while the Hawks have a wide receiver playing tight end and one of the league’s weakest running backs. I’m not a betting man, but Kyubee is going to be sore after this one, you can quote me on that one! The Hawks offensive line is in for a nightmare in Arizona.

The Yellowknife Wraiths should have made the playoffs based on player talent. That roster is stacked and for my money, is probably the second best in the league. Unfortunately, the Yellowknife stadium is also built on a native burial site and has been cursed. The Wraiths seemed to have everything break the other way in season 3. Their kicker missed so many easy kicks he was forced to retire. The league’s best offensive unit struggled regularly throughout the season. The most revamped defense only seemed to show up when the games really didn’t matter. But all of these lucky breaks can be traced back to other things. The kicker missed several key kicks when the wrong players were coming onto the field to block and were unable to get it done. Key games were lost when one of the league’s best offensive linemen was forced to sit out for a few games. Cutesy game plans that cost them games late in the season caused their Co-GM to resign and retire from the league in shame. While it is true that the Wraiths were easily the unluckiest team in the league, many of the times they lost they were unlucky, but also not doing themselves any favors with small mistakes that had big impacts on the field. In the end, this team still should have made it into the playoffs on talent alone, but it’s a shame to blame it all on bad luck.

Root for the Underdog:

I can't help but pull for these lovable losers. I mean think about the story if the Baltimore Hawks somehow find a way to defy Zeus himself. They started season 2 as the Cleveland Browns of the NSFL. They were universally made fun of by literally every single one. So they decide to rebrand themselves (like the Browns did), into this disgusting Nickelodeon slime green, which gave people more ammo to make fun of them. A couple of scandals and don't pick on us threads later, they became more of a joke than the Legion. They somehow make the playoffs due to some faulty tiebreakers. And then ANOTHER scandal hit when they beat the Wraiths in the playoffs. You can't make this up. So when they finally do get the chance to show they are better than their scandals, they get absolutely destroyed by the Outlaws. After that game people were calling the Hawks the worst team to ever make the Ultimus. Now here we are, a team who everyone thought would not even be a playoff team are challenging the kings for their throne. So tell me, who doesn't want to see the Hawks give the middle finger to the league. Who doesn't want to see them tell each and everyone one of us to go fuck ourselves? LET'S GO HAWKS!

(For me): Choose 5, do by Sunday, 9PM.

Written Points

Offensive Comparison: Compare one offensive player from each team in a series. Can be completed at any point
For this comparison, I am going to be looking at the two quarterbacks from the NSFL Finals. Scrub Kyubee from Baltimore, and King Bronko from over in Arizona. During the season, they had very similar numbers compared to each other. Looking at yardage, Scrub Kyubee threw for 3518, while King Bronko threw for 3650. They are respectively sitting right next to each other in the standings for that stat. In attempts, Kyubee completed 289 of 482 (60%), while Bronko completed 289 of 495 (58.4%). They have both completed the same amount of successful throws, while King Bronko took a little more tries to do so. As for touchdowns, Bronko has the upper hand in that category. King has scored 25 touchdowns to Scrub Kyubee's 20, which is not a huge difference, but I am sure Kyubee could have used those 5 during the season. Looking at their player ratings during the game, King Bronko was the better player overall. Bronko had a 91.6 rating on the field, meanwhile Kyubee finished with an 83.3. King Bronko's 91.6 rating was actually 2nd overall in the NSFL, while Kyubee's 83.3 was 4th overall. Bronko's 91.6 rating was only 0.3 off of 1st place Mike Boss as well.

Playoff Series MVP: Choose an MVP for one of the playoff series and write about why you chose them. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about
For the playoff series MVP, I am going to talk about a performance within the game between the Philadelphia Liberty and the Baltimore Hawks. In this game, it was an ass whooping, and one delivered by Baltimore's offense. Scrub Kyubee put on a great performance against the Liberty, and made them look outright bad. Scrub Kyubee threw for 353 yards, in which he made look easy. He threw 27 completions, while attempting 37, which is good for 65%. Not only was he getting those completions, but he also had 4 touchdowns. He was utilizing all of his options out on the field, throwing to multiple receivers, including Cooper Christmas who had the dagger at the end of the game. The Baltimore Hawks won the game in a blowout, 34-3, which was obviously because of Scrub Kyubee. This is not to discredit the Hawks' defense, who held the Philadelphia Liberty to only 3 points. If the Hawks can get these kinds of performances from Kyubee on a more consistent basis, the team will be in great hands, literally. This is a hard ask, however, and will be hard to repeat against teams like the Arizona Outlaws. As it stands for this lone playoffs series though, Scrub Kyubee was far and away the best player in that match, and had his way out on the field.

Playoff Review: Write a short review of the playoffs and each of the matchups. Must be completed after the Championship Game
Hawks/Liberty NSFC CF
The playoffs started with an NSFC Conference Finals match-up between the Baltimore Hawks and the Philadelphia Liberty. The Liberty were an expansion team that many did not think would make the playoffs, and I think this match-up between them and the Hawks sort of showcased that. In this game, Scrub Kyubee had a hayday. In the 1st QTR, Trey Willie caught a 6 yard pass from Scrub Kyubee, bringing it in for the TD, and a 6-0 lead for the Hawks. Then later on in the quarter with less than 4 minutes left, Trey Willie scored another TD, this time off a long 25 yard pass from Scrub Kyubee. This time they got the extra point, unlike the first TD, and left the quarter up 13-0. In the 2nd QTR, the Liberty were able to gain some yardage and get within range of a FG. Stephen Harris kicked a 40 yard FG to give Philly 3 points, bringing the game to 13-3. But, surprising to many, Trey Willie got the next kickoff return, and ran it 103 yards to score another TD for the Baltimore Hawks. The score became 20-3, and the half ended that way. In the 3rd QTR, a few minutes in, Trey Willie once again was the man in charge. He scored another TD from a 32 yard Kyubee pass, and increased the lead to 27-3. The Liberty could do nothing in that quarter either, and on to the 4th they went. In the 4th QTR was a Cooper Christmas 5 yard pass TD late in the game, extending the lead to 34-3. That's how this one ended, and Baltimore hoped to carry their momentum to the finals.

Outlaws/Otters ASFC CF
This game was a good offensive showing from the Arizona Outlaws. The 1st QTR was a slow one, and only resulted in an Outlaws FG kick from Cristiano Ronaldo, giving Arizona the 3-0 lead into the 2nd. In the 2nd QTR Arizona scored 2 TDs. One was a 24 yard pass to Dustin Evans from King Bronko, and the other was a 1 yard run by Reg Mackworthy. They followed that up late in the half with a field goal from Ronaldo, and entered the 2nd half up 20-0. The 3rd QTR resulted in no offense, but in the 4th, the Otters put their first form of scoring on the board. Bradley Westfield took an 18 yard pass from Mike Boss, and brought this game to 20-7. They couldn't gain any momentum from that, however. Late in the game, Mackworthy ran in 1 yard to score another TD, bringing the game to 27-7, and Arizona held it that way. Onto the finals Arizona went to face Baltimore.

Hawks/Outlaws NSFL Finals
This game was brutal, and the Arizona Outlaws showed the NSFL who is boss. The Outlaws came out of the 1st QTR with a Mackworthy run for a TD, and another TD from a Franklin Harris Jr interception return. Turk Turkleton had a 38 yard field goal, but that only gave them a little hope while they left the quarter 14-3 in favour of Arizona. In the 2nd QTR, Turkleton scored a FG at 42 yards, bringing the game to 14-6. Late in the 2nd QTR, Allen Davis ran in yet another interception return for 22 yards. Poor outing for Scrub Kyubee, and the first half ended 21-6. In the 3rd QTR there was only one scoring play, where King Bronko passed to Charles Arthur Chess, and that was it for the quarter, with Arizona leading 28-6. The 4th QTR of the game was a nightmare for the Baltimore Hawks. The Outlaws scored 3 touchdowns, all off of King Bronko passes. Charlie Law got one, and Chess scored another 2 TDs. 49-6 Arizona. However, late in the game, Baltimore eased a little of their pain by scoring a rushing TD, courtesy of Darlane Farlane. The game ended 49-12, and the Outlaws were easily crowned champs.

Bottom Half: Missing the playoffs is tough on any team but there are usually certain stats that pop up that you can decipher why they would miss out. First team we will look at are the Colorado Yeti. After being in the playoffs two straight years they drastically fell in the standings. Biggest issue for the Yeti was the suspension of their star QB Logan Noble. Looking at the passing stats for the Yeti, it really shows how bad their passing was. They passed for 2209 yards lowest in the league by just a little under 1000 yards. They had 8 Passing TDs (lowest) and 35 INTs (Highest). They eventually would give up the passing game and just try going through with running the ball as they had 517 rushing attempts which was highest in the league. The Yeti have a lot of issues up and down the lineup but if they can figure something out on the QB position they can bounce back. The next team we will look at are the Yellowknife Wraiths. On paper they’re actually not a bad team. They are second in passing yards, with 28TDs and 12INTs which is pretty good numbers. They are middle of the pack in rushing. Second in receiving yards and TDs. Main two issues I see for the Yellow Knife are one; not enough turnovers generated. Tied for 1st in least amount of interceptions and least amount of fumble forced. Another issue is their Kicking. Their second lowest in extra points made percentage and lowest in field goal percentage made. If they can boost their Kicking and generate more turnovers they can definitely be one of the best teams in the league.

Playoff Series MVP:
With the conference finals in the bag, some clear cut MVP’s have emerged. NSFC had two pretty equally matched teams going into the playoffs. Fortunately for the Baltimore Hawks they were the more experienced team. Liberty with their first ever playoff appearance definitely struggled. Hands down the player that impressed everyone had to be T. Willie. The man could do no wrong and burrowed Midas’ touch. As he made huge plays and Liberty had no answer on how to stop him. Catching 5 receptions for 117 yards with 3 Touchdowns. He also had a 103 yard Kick Return for a Touchdown. One of the best showings ever in NSFL history, T. Willie definitely turned some heads around with the speed and skill he played at. On the other side in the ASFC, with the Otters and the Outlaws meeting once again in the Conference Finals, the animosity is starting to get real. With the reigning back to back Champs the Outlaws were obviously favored again. The MVP of this series had to go to F. Harris Jr, as he made play after play to tilt the game into the Outlaws favor. Though he registered only 3 tackles he was able to deflect 3 passed and pick 2 of for interceptions.
