Well, with his success in the SHL as a future HOFer, the player I'm most excited about is Austin Roenick. This is a guy who has the mindset to start, battle through tough times and win games. If he keeps up the dedication to his craft I think he'll be one of the early contenders for best QB of the second generation. As studs like Boss, Orosz, and Bronko hang up the cleats a new wave of stars will emerge and Roenick should be right there at the top. Let's review his skillset.

Starting with a great base of 50 agility, this QB will be hard to bring down in the pocket. His 70 arm and intelligence are strong for a first year QB, and he should be able to make most of the throws and the right decisions. Accuracy is clearly a strength for Roenick with 72. I don't think he'll be throwing too many interceptions in his career. Everything isn't rosy though for the prospect from Toronto. With a strength of 35 once the defense gets a hand on him he probably isn't escaping. He's running through the six with these woes, slowly, as his speed of 40 is Manning-esque, and I'm not talking Cooper. He'll probably only make it a quarter way through the city before he has to stop for a breather, as a 50 in endurance will have to be improved.

Either way, I really am looking forward to the career of one Austin Roenick.

I'm excited to see what John Wachter can do out in the NSFL with the Baltimore Hawks this season. Drafted 3rd overall, Wachter is a possession receiver with real speed, a massive boon, and I think almost from the first game he's going to be able to be a handful for any defense in the NSFL. He has that rare ability to keep going and pick up first downs when there's very little being offered to him and I think he's got the uncanny ability to push things forward even when the play gets tough. Wachter was fantastic in the DSFL last season, scooping up a shedload of individual awards and the Hawks are going to want him to come in and try and bring that kind of elite skill to the NSFL from day one. Adding Wachter to the Hawks offense gives them a real shot in the arm, he's the kind of guy you can look to as your go to receiver but will also be able to play the role of running tight routes and picking up the medium gains against all kinds of defense. Wachter is going to be a big addition for the Hawks and if what we've seen from him in the DSFL so far is anything to go on, he could be one of the biggest adds to the league in a while. Expect him to deliver the goods this season as a potential rookie of the year candidate.

I am going to surprise everybody and/or nobody and say that I expect Carlito Crush to have the biggest impact on his team. It was tempting to say Bly, but the Yeti defense already had some decent talent. Getting an occasional first down will do a lot more for Colorado’s defense than any defender could. On top of that, having another weapon on offense might not just keep the defense off the field long enough to breathe, but might actually result in the Yeti scoring actual points, something the Yeti were last in the league at. In fact, the Yeti actually put up 39 fewer points than the next worst team (the Legion). This probably doesn’t surprise anyone, but the Yeti weren’t the worst offense in terms of yards, having moved forward about 90 more yards than Las Vegas. Why, then, did they score 39 fewer points? Because once the defense got bunched up, Pierno lacked a single receiver who could get open and/or catch (an issue that contributed to his 25 INTs). With Crush, the Yeti have that, and will have more success converting first downs and touchdowns. In addition, the best running back in the league now has better blocking, which can’t hurt either.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that Carlito Crush will have the most drastic impact on his team. Despite Andre Bly Jr widely agreed upon as a first rounder - no doubt, in fact. There was a wide split on who would get going first overall seeing as the Yeti had both the first and second picks in the season 5 draft.

Between Carlito Crush, the Gronkian force at tight end and Bly, the corner that spent last season containing DSFL wide receivers to no end, they both deserved it, to be sure. It turned out that the Yeti expended their first overall on the tight end, crush, however.

Seeing as Bly is familiar with the workings of the league and is well established as a hard working talent, it wasn't as important that he goes first. Furthermore, even if I'm wrong, I can understand the need for a reliable tight end with great measurables as opposed to a good corner due to the addition of bot o linemen. With less sacks incoming, the secondary is forced to stay on their assignments even longer now opening the likelihood even the greats are beaten, such as Lavelle and Delacour. It truly is a passing league, and crush will be the exclamation point at the end of that statement by the end of year.

PT -1 Rookies:
If you were to pick any rookie which brings back a good culture to a the locker room in the National Simulation Football League, the most obvious answer would be Ryan Sierra. Since offensive linemen have become a rarity in the higher and lower leagues, drafting an offensive line says a statement to the other teams in the league about what type of team the draftees wish to become in a few years. The Otters selected Sierra, which certainly sent a message across the league.
The Otters, the team which set the standards for high flying offense which set the league record for most passing yards in a game: (five hundred and five total yards against the legion.) Drafting an offensive lineman to this team and forgoing an entire defense is a difficult move to defend to the rest of the team and the general management staff.
Shortly after the draft wrapped up, the Otters management announced they would be switching Ryan Sierra over to Defense, where his frame fit perfectly as a defensive tackle, for the line needy Otters. With the retirement of JD Boom, the one area where the Otters have talent openings is sure to be at the second tackle position, rushing the passer and stuffing the runs.

Borkus Maximus III Is my pick for a stand out rookie. Maximus is a game changer type Quarterback, every time you watch film on this guy you notice something new that he does really well. Maximus is went first overall to Kansas City and this instantly makes them a new favorite for the next few DSFL championships. After Kansas City’s abysmal season last year, Maximus is sure to be a breath of fresh air that will elevate this team to new heights. While this first season for Maximus might be a bit rough, after his rookie year you can expect him to put up big numbers and dominate the league. There is a contingency to this though. Maximus will likely be the first overall pick in the NSFL draft next season. If for some reason his NSFL team decides to call him up immediately that would be a disaster for Kansas City. Kansas City is going to need this guy to play longer than one season to truly reap the rewards of this pick. If Maximus is a one and done we should expect Kansas City to stay in the hole they currently reside in. I doubt that will be the case though as any smart NSFL team will understand they need to give their QB time to develop.

It’s pretty safe to say that the rookie I feel interests me the most is the Tight End from the Colorado Yeti, the first overall pick in the NSFL Draft, myself, Carlito Crush. I’ve worked my ass off to get where I’m at, and I feel like I deserved being the first overall pick. Granted, Andre Bly Jr. is a stud, and I’m thrilled he’s my teammate, but I know the work that I put in. I’ve trained hard. I’ve been active. I’ve been getting the best equipment I can get. My talents are improving weekly. I very much enjoyed my time in Portland. We won the championship, and I had a crazy amount of good stats, including my 6 catches and a TD in the Ultimini.

Now, I move onto Colorado, and I plan to be a big part of the Yeti’s revival. I know that there will be early struggles, but we have a killer locker room, and a lot of players that are dedicated to getting this team to not only the playoffs, but to the Ultimus sooner than later. I figure to be a big part of that plan, helping give Pierno an outlet, someone he can trust when he’s in trouble, to make a big catch when it’s needed. I can’t wait to get on the field. (223)

Carlito Crush went first overall in the NSFL S5 Draft. Not a lot of Tight Ends go first overall in any football draft but Carlito Crush definitely forced Colorado Yetis hands. Crush one of the two Tight Ends that have been really looked at in the draft he has makings of becoming an elite playmaker for the Yeti if he develops nicely. Playing in Ohio State he dominated the line of scrimmage both by blocking and route running. His combine stats are pretty jaw dropping. At 6’6 260 pounds he can run a 40 in 4.46 which is blazing fast, 30 bench, 31.5 Vertical, 119.6 Broad, 4.28 shuttle, 7.16 3 cone. These numbers show one thing...that Carlito Crush is a freak of nature. Watching his tape in Ohio you can clearly see that the opposition had no answers for him. If they tried to put a corner on him Crush would blow him out of the water and just jump over him without any effort. If they tried putting a linebacker to cover him, Crush would use his speed and agility to just burn him. For such a big guy he has stellar footwork and hands that he can almost line up as a wide receiver and I would not be shocked if Colorado does try that out.
