(S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - terriblehippo - 05-14-2019 Code: Ready to be graded (302 words) Quenton Bode didn't sign the largest contract, but he was very happy with the team-friendly deal he signed. He's never been the kind of player to be obsessed with getting a huge contract, and with his endorsement deal with Coca-Cola, he has more than enough money to live a comfortable lifestyle. So what did he do when he finally made it to the NSFL? A few things. First, he purchased a nice house in New Orleans. "I plan on being in New Orleans for a very long time," he said, "so the first step was getting settled in the area." Between the contract and the endorsement money, he was also able to keep his place in San Antonio. "San Antonio will always have a special place in my heart," Bode said. "I'm so glad I have a place there that I can return to whenever I visit, and I will absolutely be visiting often. I haven't forgotten about San Antonio just because I no longer wear a Marshals uniform, and I look forward to spending a lot of time there." He also flew up to his hometown of Anchorage to surprise his mother on Mothers' Day. "We went out for a nice lunch, just her and me. Then we went home and just relaxed, watching TV and chatting about things. My mom's a big gossip, so we talked about her social life a ton." Bode grinned as he told this story. "I'm thrilled I have the ability to do things like that for her. She sacrificed so much to get me where I am today, so I'm excited to start repaying her. I have a lot of things planned for her once I get more settled in New Orleans." (S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - Mavfatha - 05-14-2019 Freezer Riposte doesn't really get paid very much by his team - something about all the income he has from other sources and the millions he's already saved up in his bank account. I think this is pretty absurd to punish a guy for trying to be frugal, especially when he has to shell out millions every season just to pay for ridiculously expensive training and equipment for whatever reason. With his remaining cash, Freezer has decided to try his hand at the stock market. He spent like a month playing a stock market game on his phone beforehand and turned his original 10k into 10.5k, so he feels pretty confident trying to do the same thing in real life. However, he ain't no wimp, so he's doing it in the millions instead of thousands. He basically just bought stock in all of his favorite freezer companies and fencing equipment companies, as well as all of Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo to make sure he can play all of their games early. Hopefully all of this stuff works out for him, otherwise he's gonna need to get some team to shell out more money for him to try again going forward. After all, he's the one out there doing all the hard work in the trenches as opposed to these GM's just sitting there in their chairs with their suits and money. (S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - toivo - 05-14-2019 Being a professional football player comes with some great perks. We’re paid like we’re important, as if our job means more than the people with the truly important jobs, i.e. teachers, first responders, caretakers, etc. Therefore, with the stupid amount of money I’m being paid to play football, I’m pumping some of that back into the community. I want to fund a non-profit for New Orleans’ youth. Give them some facilities to hang out at after school so they don’t need to turn to crime to entertain themselves. LeBron James gives inspiration with his school, it really shows what one can do with money, youth, and great ambition. Bona’beri Jones was fortunate enough to have older brothers to look up to and keep me straight during adolescence. But that isn’t the case for everyone. Thus, creating a system of people to be role models for the youth is essential. Doing this in New Orleans is the first step towards making a bigger difference. A lot of folks may talk about purchasing cars and houses, but that’s just one way someone can spend their money. I’d rather have a bigger impact and use the money to help more people. Starting small with a local non-profit is the way to go. (S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - nunccoepi - 05-14-2019 Alright so this question has come up for l'alto before earlier in his career and the answer is still essentially the same some 20 million dollars later. L'Alto saves his money and is a smart investor. While he sometimes sees other players (often times rookies) throwing around their money as if it had no limit, he knows better and knows that he has been given the opportunity to set his family up for success for years and years to come. but this wouldn't be possible unless he was a little smart with his money. Well, what does this look like specifically? First of all, he doesn't spend money that he doesn't. That's advice that his grandfather gave to him, but he takes it a step further--he doesn't spend money unless he really needs to. For this he creates a budget carefully with his wife, and they are honest about what their needs are. After this step, they set aside some money for treating themselves. Then he chooses what investment opportunities would be worth his time to put his money towards. He has some money in stocks and bonds and some in real estate. But he doesn't get real fancy, he's a straight 401k shooter and will get to handle that money when the day comes. (S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - MrStennett - 05-15-2019 Thorian Skarsgard was taught the value of money by both of his parents early on in life. Both of them being accountants for large companies, he knew how to handle money before he could ride a bike. When they moved from Norway to the United States after he graduated from high school, and he went to attend Rutgers University, he was excited by the prospect of being in the country known as "the land of opportunity". He never forgot the lessons his parents taught him when he was young however, and he continued to manage his money well into adulthood. Now, as a multi-million dollar athlete, there is more money to go around than he ever dreamed of, but he just can't shake that responsible streak. Therefore, he does what you might expect with the money he earns. He pays his bills, takes care of his parents, and saves or invests the rest of it. No big shocker there. Most guys would have answers like buy a new Lamborghini or a beach house with an ocean-front view, but that's not Thorian's style. He's still driving the beat up pick-up truck he bought when he first moved here, and if it wasn't for his enormous size and his uptick in fame due to his recent award-winning season, many people probably wouldn't even recognize him behind the wheel. Code: 227 words (S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - Renrut - 05-15-2019 Wait, you are telling me a lonely ol kicker like myself, ForThe Brand, got a signing bonus? And it was huge? How exciting. The team probably is not run very well if they are throwing this kind of cash at a kicker, but hey, I am not about to complain. I am taking this cash and running with it. First up, I am paying off my parents mortgage, and if they want it, a whole new house. Next up, paying off all their cars, loans, outstanding balances on any and everything. They are the ones I owe everything to, and this would be one way to show them how thankful I am for the sacrifices they made for myself and my sister. I would like to take everyone on a nice trip as well. After that my wife and I would get new vehicles and a new house to call our own. Once the shopping spree was done I would invest a good portion of the remaining funds to ensure our lifestyle can continue past my career and that my kids will be set up for as long as I can afford after I am gone. I still have a responsibility to be responsible, ya dig? -206 (S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - AdamS - 05-15-2019 PBE PT (S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - Jiggly_333 - 05-15-2019 PBE PT (S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - ErMurazor - 05-15-2019 SHL (S15) - PT1 - Signing Bonus - Rise of Smitty - 05-15-2019 A little known fact about Vander Jones is that his first love was not football, in fact, it was the America's Past time otherwise known as baseball. Jones has always loved baseball as a kid and got heavy into the baseball cards and memorabilia scene since he was a pre-teen. He learned to love cards and memorabilia from his father who would frequently take him to the local card shop to look at and buy cards. Over the years Jones has gone through heavy spurts of adding items to his collection and also gone months without touching a single card or memorabilia. Now that he got paid a big contract from the Philadelphia Liberty he plans to build out his baseball memorabilia collection to something far greater than he thought ever possible. The first items on the docket for Jones will be signed baseballs from some of baseball's true legends such as Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige, and Roberto Clemente. These four baseballs alone will likely run a tab up to or even exceeding $40,000 dollars which is not something Jones can afford to do. Sure, he could buy a fancy new car or house, but these pieces of history are worth as much as a lot of cars and would surely be a nice down payment on a home for any run of the mill collector. This is not only about achieving greatness in a lifelong collection pursuit but this also instantly becomes sort of a retirement fund should Jones ever fall on hard times when his playing days come to an end. |
