(S16) - PT2 - College Years - SwagSloth - 07-20-2019 For those that don't know, Andrew Reese attended college at Purdue where he played the role of Quarterback prior to entering the DSFL at the same position. However, in his freshman year, Reese was tested at several positions while the school searched for the right use for him. He experimented heavily with DT, which would later lead to a position change to DT when entering the NSFL. That switch would last 3 seasons before Reese would return to his original college position of QB. Like a lot of college football players, especially QBs, Reese was a star on campus. He spent lots of time attending parties and flirting with female fans. Reese was still young and had a lot to learn, so he wasn't yet ready to dedicate himself to his craft the way he needed to. He would ultimately be the team's starter for most of his college career, but it's not hard to wonder if Reese could have exceled more at the position if he had better focused on the game. He would soon after be put to the test in the DSFL, where he discovered he couldn't simply coast by on his natural talents the way that he did at Purdue. 203 Words (S16) - PT2 - College Years - dizzyDC - 07-20-2019 So Chase Jensen was still relatively new at playing tight end by the time he made his way to Stanford. He battled through some injuries, but by the time of senior season he was a house hold name among those following college football. Outside of just playing football though, Jensen spent quite a bit of time studying at Stanford as head coach, David Shaw, ran a tight ship and expected a lot from his players not only on the field, but also in the classroom. Jensen also acknowledged that he would have to have another career after football, so he wanted to do well in his classes and get his degree. Jensen's standout games have to be the 2 bowl games that he was able to participate in. He was able to play a key role in 2 different Sun Bowl victories over North Carolina and Pitt, where specifically Jensen caught the game winning touchdown in the game against North Carolina. Jensen never missed a practice and even practiced outside of official team time. It took a ridiculous amount of time management, but Jensen thrived as he considered himself one of the more cerebral players on the field. He also took a bunch of nutrition classes at Stanford which eventually be incredibly helpful as he would go through a total body transmogrification in the NSFL as he would move from tight end to strong safety. For most of us, we grew up on the game. But for L'Alto the path was a little bit different. He played football all growing up but he also played other sports. And when high school rolled around and he knew that he had to devote his efforts to only one sport, he eventually chose the one where he demonstrated the most promise--basketball. This is a common path for many tight ends who, like L'Alto, are gifted with height and strong jumping skills. L'Alto played basketball for Tom Izzo at Michigan State University for several years with hopes of making the draft. He played with now legend Draymond Green, and learned all that he could, but did not end up hearing his name called on draft night. Although he floated through the league playing on practice and G-league teams for a couple of years, he eventually became discouraged. It wasn't until he was approached by an old friend, mentor, and future agent, Epictitus Milburn, that he thought to consider a change in his sport altogether. He eventually was picked up the Tijuana Luchadores and made his professional debut after not having taken a meaningful snap in over ten years. The following year he was drafted number 2 overall in the S7 NSFL draft. The rest is history. (S16) - PT2 - College Years - scharlachrot - 07-20-2019 William Tell was born and raised in Switzerland. He played for the Bern Grizzlies in the Swiss national league and played nearly all positions for his hometown team. He raised the awareness of scouts from american college teams and finally got the chance to try to proof himself at a higher level. He got an invite from the California Golden Bears, and traveled half the world to his new home. He was very warm welcomed by his new teammates and felt at home soon. The training wa very hard though and he had to learn a lot to catch up. Also his athleticism needed to improve and he spent a lot of time in the gym. On field, it was clear he wanted to play defense and due to his long frame he got tested in the secondary. While he did need some time to get used to the very different skill level of his opponents, he got the trust from his coaches and his playing time increased rapidly. He soon became the leader of the secondary, partly because of an 75 yard pick six in the bowl game of his sophomore season. As his college career went on he started to focus mainly on the corner position to become more refined at the position and to prepare himself for the next step, while becoming one of the most memorable players to wear the blue and gold. 237 words (S16) - PT2 - College Years - ADwyer87 - 07-20-2019 Sunnycursed was a very interesting player in college. His parents really wanted him to follow in their favorite player Stormblessed footsteps and go to Michigan, but to spite his parents Sunnycursed decided to go to The Ohio State University. After making this decision, Sunnycursed found himself without any family support, which made his experience at college very different. Sunnycursed was a diva in college as well. He didn't just want to be the best in the nation, he wanted to be the best wide receiver from Ohio State ever. This led him to be very competitive, even in practices. Defensive players, especially the secondary, despised him and the other wide receivers on the team hated him as well. Many fights broke out during these practice sessions. Sunnycursed was not much of a student, either. His football antics did not get him many friends, even if he was a star on the football team. For this reason, he decided to get out of college as fast as possible. He was able to hire a lot of people to do his homework for him with his totally not illegally earned school "benefit" money, and graduated a year early, so he could declare for the DSFL as fast as possible. so yeah, tl;dr Sunnycursed college experience was shit (S16) - PT2 - College Years - MaxGnarland - 07-20-2019 Quentin Sinclair attended the University of Wisconsin for 4 years and was a walk on for the Badgers. He was buried on the depth chart only appearing in a few games primarily as a returner until his junior year. After the Badger's starting safety went down in week 1 against Clemson Sinclair stepped in but his contributions to the team would not become impactful until week 3 against Purdue where he had 2 interceptions and a sack. Sinclair finished his junior season with the 8-4 Badgers with 4 interceptions 2 sacks and 54 tackles. Sinclair really shined his senior year when he had 60 tackles, 6 interceptions, a sack, and a forced fumble helping the Badgers achieve a 12-1 record. In the Big 10 Championship Sinclair had 6 tackles, 3 pass deflections and an interception helping the Badgers beat Michigan. Sinclair graduated Wisconsin with a major in computer science and a minor in economics. Sinclair also played club rugby leading his team to 3 Big 10 championship game appearances winning 2 of them as scrumhalf and fullback. Sinclair also enjoyed cooking in college making all of his own meals and occasionally helped cook for the football team where he made his famous mashed potatoes and stuffing. (S16) - PT2 - College Years - contacts - 07-20-2019 Much has been made of Jammerson Irving's short, inglorious college career at the University of Buffalo, but we can retell the story one more time for some of that sweet, sweet TPE. Jammerson's family immigrated from Jamaica to Guelph, Canada when the future NSFL Tight End was in high school. After two years of high school football in Canada, Jammerson was never scoted and chose to walk on at the University at Buffalo, close to his parents home in Guelph. He made the team, and although he was expected to be red shirted his natural athleticism forced the coaching staffs hand and he made the active roster his freshman year. While he never started a game on either side of the ball in his first year, he got significant snaps backing up players on both offense and defense, and he recorded 17 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 1 sack on defense, and 15 receptions for 216 yards and two touchdowns on offense. He began his sophomore season as the back up tight end, after serving a one game school imposed suspension, but was able to earn his spot on the starting offense beginning in week 4. In 8 games that season, he totaled 55 receptions, 642 yards and 6 touchdowns. His season ended how it started however, as he was suspended for the teams MAC championship game and subsequently dismissed from the football program. Without going through his long list of embarrassing screw-ups, it is safe to say the tight end is both lucky and appreciative that the Arizona Outlaws gave him a shot to prove himself in the big leagues. ![]() (S16) - PT2 - College Years - TheWoZy - 07-20-2019 SHL PT (S16) - PT2 - College Years - majesiu - 07-20-2019 PBE |
