S17 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - Fordhammer - 09-27-2019

8) Draft Focus
As a new GM of the Philadelphia Liberty, one big need for us in the draft will be defensive line. We did recently swap Maulolo for Smyles before the deadline, which allowed us to get an extra pick in the upcoming draft. Maulolo was obviously lower in TPE, so that gap will need to be filled. We had a hard time stopping the run this past season, as we were continually gashed in short yardage situations, and a lot of that had to do with being somewhat thin up front. This class has some great options on the defensive line. The big name is IsaStarcrossed, of course, but we’re not overlooking the other guys like Hall_Monitor, RobCubed, and thunderbug. These guys can be staples of defensive lines for seasons to come if they stay active and keep earning. Defensive line is not the sexiest of positions, mainly due to it being a generally low stat position in the sim. However, it’s always a huge need for most teams, with it being one of the lowest picked position for new creates. All that said, we in Philly are really looking forward to bolstering the team in general, and we have several early picks to do so.

3) All about the QBs
For this category, I’m going to talk about the two QBs that faced off in the championship game. Orange County Otters QB Franklin Armstrong must be feeling great today. For some inexplicable reason, Armstrong fell extremely far in the S15 draft. I think he proved a lot of his doubters wrong with this huge performance in the championship game that ultimately brought an Ultimus to Orange County. The Otters went for a more balanced approach this game, with 27 passing attempts and just over 30 rushing attempts. This kept the Baltimore defense on their toes as they couldn’t just stack the box against the run, or play too many DBs and risk getting the ball run down their throat. Armstrong was 17/29 in this game, with an astounding average per completion of 16.9 yards. The Otters were clearly okay with letting Armstrong loose in this game, as his completion percentage was under 60%, but the average yards per completion shows how they were trying to take advantage of the Baltimore secondary by throwing downfield most of the game. Corvo Havran on the other hand, struggled a bit this game. Baltimore barely went with the run in this game, partly due to being behind, but the Otters defense usually had answers for them in this one.

1) Playoff Review

For this section I’ll be reviewing the Baltimore Hawks @ Yellowknife Wraiths conference championship game. The Wraiths came into this game as the favorite. They had home field advantage, an absolutely loaded roster, and Ryan Leaf Jr’s extensive sim testing showing them winning it all. Unfortunately, for them, that result did not pan out. The Wraiths started off trailing in the first half of this game, thanks in part to a few Corvo Havran TD passes. With 8:51 left in the second quarter the score was already 21-3. The Wraiths were resilient, though, and battled back to make it 24-27 near the end of the 3rd with the now retired Morgan Marshall rushing for two short yardage touchdowns. Sadly for the Wraiths, all of their drives stalled in the 4th quarter. The Hawks had a really hard time moving the ball against the stout Wraith defense, but they had built up enough of a lead in the first half for it to not really matter. Both offenses employed a fairly balanced offensive attack with the Hawks rushing 30 times and passing for 36, and the Wraiths rushing 28 times and passing for 44. Obviously this is due in large part to being down for most of the game. I’m sure if given the option the Wraiths would have rather been able to run the clock out with their two stud RBs, but that’s not how it went in this contest.

4) Head to Head Matchups

For the last part of my Ultimus Week categories, I decided to focus on two studs that squared off in the Ultimus game. Fatih Terim is one of the best players to come out of the absolutely loaded S15 draft class that features a bevy of max-earning safeties. Terim faced off in this contest against Franklin Armstrong, as the two players were battling wits as Terim anchored the Baltimore defense, primarily in pass protection, and Armstrong was the general of the OCO offense. In my estimation, Armstrong got the better of Terim in this contest. Terim did manage to have 7 tackles as well as a tackle for loss, Armstrong more or less had his way with this Baltimore secondary, especially on downfield throws, which should be Fatih’s area to defend. Some of this is Armstrong threading the needle on some impossible to defend throws, which you obviously can’t fault Terim for. Terim did make some nice plays, and generally the Otters were targeting other areas of the defense than Terim’s side of the field. That said, in this matchup, I would definitely give the edge to Armstrong, given how the game went and how he played against the Baltimore seconday. I think we’ll see these two face off in more Ultimuses before everything is said and done.

2. Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims have predictions, after if it is a review of the game.
Graphic: Make a graphic displaying the matchups in the playoffs. If completed before sim, predict scores and show stats, if after, give a summary of game showing stats and top performers.

I will write about a couple here and a couple that I am involved in or was involved in at least and am no longer involved in which is sad in some ways. The first was the matchup between the Otters and the Sabercats which unfortunately did not go in San Jose's favor in what would be the last game for Sabercats' quarterback, Joliet Christ. It was a hell of a career for one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks the NSFL has ever seen and unfortunately it ended to one of his biggest rivals. There were no regrets for Christ as his career was mainly filled with ups and no downs. He would go on to mentor a new rising QB in Deondre Thomas-Fox of the Portland Pythons. Unfortunately, for DTF, he got no game action in Portland's loss and he was unhappy to say the least. "Yo, this Cue guy was a complete bum and I could've helped this team win an Ultimini, not my fault the coaches and GM's put faith in the wrong guy. Oh well, I hope some competent leadership takes a shot on me in the DSFL draft coming up. I am the ultimate dual-threat like my boy J Christ. Let's get it."

3. Draft Focus
Written: What areas of your team has the biggest holes that you are hoping get filled in the upcoming gigantic S18 draft? What round are you hoping it’s filled?

So this one is kind of hard with the fact that I am not actually on a team anymore but I will still talk about the one team that I have been a part of my whole NSFL career and recently retired from and that is the San Jose Sabercats. The team has been competitive for the meat of Christ's career but unfortunately that might be taking a turn for the worse as the whole team is retiring or regressing quite a bit and needs to kind of rebuild on the fly while they work in new quarterback, Dan Wright, previously a tight end for the team. Defense wins championships though and while losing Christ and having a regressing Xavier Flash and no other solid wide receiver next to him, as well as a new QB and less than star caliber running backs, the team needs to rebuild it's defense. The team won an Ultimus with defense and timely offense and with no good corners, a defensive line that has one or two active players and a team full of regressing linebackers or retiring Chad Pennington, the team needs to lean off their safeties in Staley and Brackenridge to get it going. The team will need everything besides safeties and rebuild their linebacking core and their corner situation to get back. I believe in the management, but it will be a long road. I would consider trading some pieces to reload as soon as possible.

4. All about the QBs
Written: Write 200 words on one of the QB matchups in this year's playoffs. What are you most excited to see (Or excited to have seen), who will play better (Or who played better), etc.
Graphic: Create a graphic on a QB matchup, (Pictures with side-by-side statistics).

Let's talk about the matchup that was Joliet Christ and Franklin Armstrong for a second in the matchup between the San Jose Sabercats and the Orange County Otters. Now, Armstrong would go on to win this game and eventually take home an Ultimus title and MVP but this was really a matchup between the old guard and the new. Gone are the days of Christ vs. Showbiz in what were some great Orange County vs. San Jose games and this would be the final time we ever see Joliet L. Christ on a football field. Armstrong, the new potentially premier QB in the league sent Christ out and left only Falconi as the oldest veteran quarterback in the game in what should be the twilight of her career. It will now be Armstrong vs. Wright in the OCO and SJS matchup which is kind of weird to think about considering it had been Christ and Showbiz for the longest time. Armstrong is the guy nowadays and looks to be a premier QB for the foreseeable future which is a scary thought. Christ had a tremendous career and should be an eventual hall of famer at the QB position and Armstrong could get there too. I have a tremendous amount of respect for @moonlight and wish him good luck in his career in the NSFL and congratulations on the championship. I hope Thomas-Fox will find a place and can have a similar scenario taking down Armstrong during his final days. Gotta get that payback!

Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims have predictions, after if it is a review of the game.
Given that the playoffs have already been completed, this is going to be a review of one of the playoff games from this last season. Even though this game had a predetermined winner due to the dumb sim engine, I still want to cover the Austin Copperheads first ever playoff game. The Arizona Outlaws would jump out to a quick lead over the Austin Copperheads with a touchdown reception by Seer Zephyrous from Andrew Reese, an interception returned for a touchdown by Leighton Lee, and a 28 yard field goal by Spencer Lawes. The Copperheads would put some damage into that lead in the 2nd quarter on a 3 yard Mako Mendonca touchdown run and a 47 yard field goal by Alfredo Crisco. The 3rd quarter would be all Outlaws again with a Slim Shady touchdown run and another field goal by Spencer Lawes. Brock Landers would haul in a touchdown pass from Reese to start the 4th quarter. The Copperheads would add 2 more scores to end the game; another field goal for Crisco and a touchdown reception by Mendonca to make the final score 33-20 in favor of the Outlaws. All-in-all, the Copperheads just weren't able to overcome a disastrous first quarter and the Outlaws move on to the 2nd round.

7) Next year
Written: If your team has been eliminated, why will the next year, or the year after that, be the year that your team is going to win the Ultimus or Ultimini.
I honestly don't see a reason why the Austin Copperheads can't make waves this upcoming season. First of all, we made huge strides in our second season in the league jumping to a 5-8 record after the season that shall not be named. I think this shows that we actually have a dedicated roster; one that is really looking to improve in all facets of the game. The second reason that we could do well next season is that we really don't have that many players regressing. We are a team that is still actively building in TPE without suffering any huge losses to the roster. I think that we have a lot to build on though. The next reason that we could do really well next season is that our QB Easton Cole will really be hitting his stride in terms of TPE. We saw it this season with Franklin Armstrong leading the Otters to a championship. Cole could be at that level next season. Another awesome addition to the roster is just recently acquired Blake Faux who will help shore up our defense. All-in-all, I personally think there is a lot to like about the Copperheads next season. I don't know if they will necessarily be considered favorites or in the conversation of being favorites, but they have the ability to make a decent impact on the league.

Written: What areas of your team has the biggest holes that you are hoping get filled in the upcoming gigantic S18 draft? What round are you hoping it’s filled?
Looking at the Austin Copperheads roster, we are set in a lot of positions. It is just a matter of the players that we have at those positions gaining TPE. We are pretty well set at QB, RB, and TE on offense. I would say that we could use another WR, but how our offense is set up our RBs are basically also WR so it's not as big of a hole as some people might see it. The topic of offensive linemen is always a contentious one. Some people think that we don't really need active players at the position while others are die hard for it to remain a playable position. We currently only have 1 human OL so I guess you could say it is a position of need, but I hope that we don't target it super early in the draft. On defense we are set in LB with Honda, Faux, and Bakshi. Where we could use some more help is on the DL and in the defensive backfield. I hope that we target these positions as early as possible, like with our first couple of picks. We could really use another CB to play opposite of Lavelle Jr. and more depth at safety is always a good thing. On DL we have Kuusela and Wizardry so we could use more depth there as well. Like I said, we don't have that many needs right now, just a matter of the players that we have building. That being said, I always welcome new blood.

15) Going to Disneyland!
Written: Who was the Ultimus MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disneyland, or describe how they celebrated.
Anyone who doesn't say that Franklin Armstrong of the Orange County Otters was the MVP of the Ultimus Championships is just flat out wrong. Like there really is no other reasonable option to give MVP to in this game. Not a lot of rookie quarterbacks find success in the NSFL, but Armstrong took that narrative and dropped a fucking nuke on it. In the biggest game of his career to this point Armstrong completed 17 of 27 passing attempts for 287 yards and 3 touchdowns for a passer rating of 135.9. Oh yeah, in addition to terrorizing the Baltimore Hawks defense with his arm, he also managed to do damage with his legs; 48 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown. Anyway, Armstrong flew to Disney World as the reigning Ultimus MVP and went on an absolute tear through the park. He managed to ride every single ride in the park multiple times mostly by pushing kids down in the lines to get to the front. You would think people would be mad by actions such as these, but no one can be mad at Armstrong for that long. He finished off the day by being in the parade on one of the floats where he tossed footballs to his adoring fans. After his adventures in the park, he went back to his resort suite where he got blitzed on champagne and boned Disney themed hookers. Sounds like a great time, unfortunately not everyone can be as cool as Franklin Armstrong.

3. I was very excited by the Pythons vs Luchadores QB matchup. The Pythons brought to the table Jay Cue, a hotshot S18 player who tied the record for most passing TDs in a season. Cue ended the with 60.3% completion percentage, an even 2400 yards, and 22 passing TDs. Truly a stud so its exciting to just watch the man work. Now, the Luchadores brought in McCann III. their starter, McCann III had a completion percentage of 54.3%, and 14 TDs on the season. He's a tad behind in the direct comparison. Once is about 9 points overall off from Cue, and I'm not gonna argue that. I will argue that it was a good game between the two. Both teams averaged up about 6.6 yards per pass, and held similar completion percentages. While I think Cue is the better passer, and the Pythons are more a pass first offense, I would have to give McCann III the edge over Cue. While Cue earned 34 more yards over McCann III, it was the interception in the final minutes of the game that seals it in McCann III's favor. Without the interception, I think Cue would have had the better day. I mean he had move Passing TDs and yards. I just weigh turnovers pretty heavy. (216 words)

Why we would win (ironic in hindsight)

12: I interviewed Lazlo Forty-Two @C9Van from the Yetis
1. What kind of mentality does Lazlo bring coming into the playoffs?
"Laszlo brings fear. Many puny players in the National Simulation Football League do not like getting hurt. Mr. Forty-Two has ability to break spinal cord with bare hands. The math is simple. Players do not like getting into his war path and the Yeti will only be getting stronger from here onwards."
2. Did you know going into this playoffs that the Yetis would lose in such a stellar fashion?
"Laszlo understand the Yeti team is young. However terrible quarter backs has been The Laz's bane so far in this league. Is simple. If Laszlo get pigskin, Laszlo carry. Laszlo feared this may happen. Wolfie must improve soon or Laszlo will break him as well. May make locker room slightly awkward but is worth it."
3. Who did you have picked to win the Ultimus?
"Laszlo truly believe final would be the Arizona Outlaws vs The Baltimore Hawks. Was shocked to see that not happen. When little Otter team make final. Laszlo knew team would win. The league should fear 7-6 teams as the last two teams have won with such puny record."
4. Favorite pre-workout drink?
"Water. Laszlo see team sometimes drink sugar based products. Explains flabbyness of players. Laszlo see nothing but weakness. Hydration key to winners. Kids should drink amazing substance. If not Laszlo will break them as well."

7) Next year
Written: If your team has been eliminated, why will the next year, or the year after that, be the year that your team is going to win the Ultimus or Ultimini.

The Colorado Yeti were, unfortunately, only barely included into the playoffs this season. They were the doorstep to the top team to push into the next round after turning things around late in the season. Most people look at the Yeti and laugh or scoff, “How can they make it?” However, things will be different in S18 for the entire Big Men of Denver to the point that other teams should be on the watch. The Yeti are putting together a solid defense and an offense approaching its peak. New GMs provide a new game plan with the current players only getting stronger a better. The “Bubba Thumper” effect will take the S18 players by storm.

8) Draft Focus
Written: What areas of your team has the biggest holes that you are hoping get filled in the upcoming gigantic S18 draft? What round are you hoping it’s filled?

The huge S18 draft provides a great way of introducing new players into the NSFL and the Yeti are only going to improve their depth. With a solid front seven on defense, introducing a more ballhawking defense will in turn provide more opportunities for the growing offense to get success. There are also plenty of options open for a WR3 target amongst the vast receiving core coming into the draft. The team still is young and growing with contracts recently being placed on two receiver weapons so having a focus on there is not as important at getting turnover machines on defense. The S18 Yeti could resemble the Super Bowl winning Broncos with a Von Miller-ish led defense with Mo Berry and Bubba Thumper as the defensive front runners that give the Yeti a huge push.

17) Robbed
Written: Write about why your team was robbed from making the Playoffs, how did the sim screw you and why were you more deserving

Although the sim gives each team a chance, the sim also is a destroyer of hope and souls. There are no winners in general with the sim or favorites or underdogs. For the second half of the season, the Yeti managed to beat the top two teams in the league while also somehow losing to the Copperheads in a nail biter. With the blowout win over the Outlaws in Week 12 it seemed as though all the losses before were simply mistakes. How can a team better than the best team in the league lose to any other team in a blowout? The only teams that make sense with beating the Yeti late with the Outlaws win is the late blowout loss to the Otters, eventual S17 Ultimus champ. Getting blowout by the SaberCats at the final game is a head scratcher that only shows that the sim lacks respect for building teams.

S17 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - JKortesi81 - 09-27-2019

TASK WELFARE: PBE PT

Task 1 – Ultimus Review: The S17 Ultimus saw us a take a trip back in time to watch the Baltimore Hawks take on the Orange County Otters. Both teams got to the final by getting semi-upsets in the conference championships. Rookie QB Franklin Armstrong really got things going for the Otters as he scored on a QB keeper to give OCO the 7-0 lead. Not to be out done, Sunnycursed came back to haunt his old team scoring on the next drive to tie the game at 7-7. Another wide receiver seeking revenge on his old team, Yulic Nagasawa, would proceed to score in the second quarter, giving the Otters the 14-7 lead at halftime. The Hawks would come storming out of the gate in the second half, walking down the field and tying the game at 14-14 on an Ahri Esspeeyeeseetee TD. After some back and forth play, the Otters would strike again and another rookie, Hugh Mongo, would give the Otters the 21-14 lead. Baltimore would finally blink, being the first team to setting for a field goal, cutting the lead to 21-17 as we entered the fourth and final quarter. The only team that would score in the final frame would be the Otters as Johnny Blaze reeled in a 6 yard pass to give the Otters the 28-17 lead and that would be the final score as Orange County wins its 100th Ultimus in 17 seasons. (236)

Task 7: Next Year – I think its time for the NSFL to collectively recognize that the Austin Copperheads will be coming to an S18 playoffs near you. We have a great shot at winning the Ultimus. Why? First off, all you have to do is make the playoffs, and then anything can happen. While we missed out on the playoffs (thanks a lot resim that should’ve happened and would’ve given us the win we needed), Austin went 5-8 this year. That’s a FIVE GAME IMPROVEMENT over our first season. The entire league made us a meme while everyone jumped on Chicago’s dick, but now we’re a team of mostly active players improving while they have Jiggly running the show and everyone is bailing on that team. And that’s exactly why you should bet on Austin next year. We have a lot of active, young players that are gobbling up TPE quickly. We’re improving by leaps and bounds, and we’re definitely taking the next step to the playoffs next year. There’s no reason to think we can’t win the Ultimus once we get there. We’re going to fill the few holes we have in the draft (hopefully) and then we’re all going to work towards the same goal of improving as much as possible during the season. (216)

Task 8 - Draft Focus – While things are definitely looking up at every single position for the Austin Copperheads, there are a few spots we really need to focus on in the upcoming draft. I know that the task asked for us to point out what round we’d like to fill said holes, but because of draft strategy and such, I won’t say that specifically. There isn’t much we need to fill in Austin. Personally, what I think we need most is a stud CB to play opposite of Dermot. After that, I’d personally like to find a Safety to pair with Jensen because it seems our pick from last season is going IA. We could also definitely use another Linebacker, even though we did just trade for Blake Faux. Defensive line help couldn’t hurt either. We aren’t really hurting on the offensive side of the ball thanks to our expansion draft and our focus on the best players available in the past. It’s a little frustrating because I know we should be picking 3rd overall, but a dumb-ish trade dropped us all the way down to 10th this first round. BUT we have a few second rounders so we’ll be doing well enough to get some of these guys (I won’t go into specifics on who) and I think we’re about to nail another Austin draft class as we continue to grow our locker room with excellent people and players. (236)

S17 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - LordMacharius - 09-28-2019

1) Playoff Reviews:
The closest game, by score, in the first two rounds of the playoffs was easily the NSFC game between the Baltimore Hawks and the Yellowknife Wraiths. This matchup, from a TPE stand-point (which is my entire angle for these 4 PTS since I just joined) is truly a battle between juggernauts. The Wraiths and the Hawks have the first and second highest effective TPE, respectively. They also have the first and second highest average TPE, respectively. Both teams came into this game with a significant amount of momentum, winning their first-round matchups by more than 30 points.
Even though score-wise and TPE-wise this game should have been close, it featured an incredible comeback that could’ve been. After a 3 yard touchdown pass by Corvo Havran with 8:51 left in the second quarter, the Baltimore Hawks seized a 21-3 lead. Playing uphill, the Wraiths mounted a serious comeback. After their second-string RB (by TPE), Morgan Marshall, ran in his second touchdown with 1:29 left in the third, it seemed like the momentum had firmly shifted to the Wraiths. With the lead cut to only 3 points and the Hawks defense seemingly unable to stop the Wraiths, the result of the game became a lost cause. Until… the wheels fell off the wagon. In the last 16:00 of the game, no points were scored and the Wraiths went home and the Hawks went to Ultimus.

3) All about the QBs:
Football is a team sport. Very rarely can one player decide the outcome of a game — and those players typically are the all-time greats like Montana, Marino, and Brady. Yet, in big pressure situations, there is one position that can save or doom an entire season: the quarterback. The QB duel between Corvo Havran and Franklin Armstrong was a solid one. Even though Havran had 200 more TPE than Armstrong, the way football is played (one game at a time), that matters very little. Franklin Armstrong completed 17 for 27 — Havran completed less than 50% of his 52 attempts, clocking in at 25 completions. Armstrong’s dual-threat allowed him to keep the defense on their toes. He ran in a touchdown, and threw 3 more touchdown passes. Armstrong averaged 4.4 yards a carry, leading the Otters. On the other hand, Havran stayed in the pocket and tested his arm against the defense. While that allowed him to dissect the defensive backs slowly, the Otters adjusted and shutdown the Hawks offense for the last 25 minutes of the game. While Havran had a great game, and Armstrong was a more effective quarterback (135.9, anyone?), Armstrong’s legs were what eventually decided the game.

4) H2H Matchups
The matchup that was most important for the Ultimus game was the following. A typical CB/WR matchup between Orange County Otters Cornerback Gus T.T. Showbiz vs star wideout for the Baltimore Hawks Errol Maddox would determine the Ultimus. For the Otters to stand a chance, Showbiz would have to reduce the effectiveness of Maddox. He seemed successful, reducing the effectiveness to the star wide receiver and forcing Havran to look elsewhere for all but 6 throws, 5 of which were completed. Many of the completions were bombs — bringing Maddox’s average Yards Per Catch to an impressive 21.6 yards. However, Maddox was kept out of the end zone and mostly unable to make large plays before being wrapped up by his tail, Gus T.T. Showbiz. One of the most important moments of this matchup, not a magic moment but an important moment nonetheless, occurred with 14:42 in the fourth. Havran attempted to squeeze the ball into a tight window, trying to save a drive on the Otters’ 46 yard line. However, Showbiz made a momentous stop, ending a promising drive and forcing the Hawks to punt. Maddox would not be targetted again the rest of the game, and the Hawks would be shut out.

S17 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - PaytonM34 - 09-28-2019

1) Head to Head Matchups

The greatest matchup of the entire DSFL playoffs was the Tijuana Offensive Line versus the defensive front 7 of the San Antonio Marshals and the Portland Pythons. These two teams were both of the top 2 defenses in the league for sacks and guess how many sacks the Tijuana Offensive line, more commonly known as The Wall gave up? Zero. That's zero sacks in the entire playoffs, not one , not two, not even one, zero sacks you heard it here first, the Tijuana Wall is the greatest group of offensive lineman ever assembled on a DSFL football field and you can count on that, I mean let's look at that line shall we we got Brave Ulysses at left tackle who might be a DSFL hall of famer one day who led the league in pancakes at 65 while allowing zero sacks on the season I mean that's like Walter Jones type of play right there or Joe Thomas or something I mean wow and then you got Ben Tuanikuafue something at Right Tackle who is a bulldozer single handedly bringing up the teams rushing average and then you got the three interior guys who have all put in the hard work that needs to come with being an offensive lineman these days

2) Draft Focus

The Tijuana Luchadores of the DSFL should look to replace their veteran Left Tackle Brave Ulysses in the upcoming DSFL draft. It is a sad time when a member of the Wall leaves the team but the offensive line will be in good shape even without him and if the Luchadores decide to pick his successor in the draft I recommend they pick someone who puts his quarterback and running back first because being a left tackle is a responsibility to the team and if you're not willing to protect those guys then you're gonna have a hard time being successful in this league but anyways I think that they're also going to have to find some receivers to go along with their quarterback who is slotted to be a multi year starter for the team and could bring Tijuana to maybe even a three peat championship or maybe even a four peat championship or maybe even wow look at this a five peat championship could you imagine the amount of coochie that the quarterback is gonna get if he wins 5 championships in a row and in order for that to happen Tijuana is gonna have to surround him with weapons from the draft

3) Unsung Hero

The unsung hero of the Tijuana Luchadores playoff run is Chase Osborn and fullback Fuzzy Dotson because you all know of Ducky Donut the Luchadores lead back but the second back in this offense is also one hell of a bell cow and the fullback leading the way is a monster so let's look at Chase Osborn's stats for the playoffs okay he has 27 Carries for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns I mean that's over 5 yards per carry for the entire playoffs with a score in each game on only 27 Carries which is a workload for a leading running back in sometimes only 1 game so I mean he has to be given credit for his contribution in the backfield and let's not forget the next player in that backfield who paves the way for all of these rushing yards that the Luchadores have accumulated over the course of the playoffs and that is Fuzzy Dotson who is basically a meat head on wheels who likes to smash faces with opposing defenders in the way of victory so if you don't think that these players are given enough credit then go give them a highfive or a shout out because they were a huge part in that Tijuana offense

The quarterback that stood out in the playoffs was the rookie Armstrong. Especially his performance in the finals against the Baltimore Hawks. His stat line was:
Armstrong ®, F. 17/27 287 yds 16.9 per completion 3 TD’s 135.9 with 48 yards rushing!

He had a 78 QB rating during season with 12.1 yards per completion while having 16.8 in this game.
For being a young player joining the league in season 15 – this is a strong showing for a game manager QB that spent two years in the DSFL. With the Otters having the second leading rusher in Apollo you would think the gameplan would be to run the rock to minimize the jitters of a first time QB in the finals let alone the NSFL playoffs. His combination of accuracy and tempo kept the Hawks off balance all game while they dared him to throw by stacking the box against Apollo and the TD machine Corey Trevor. It was amazing to see Armstrong grow so fast in his inaugural season and I am looking forward to what he is going to bring to the league. He didn’t need the all star receiver Sunnycursed in this game as he leaned on blaze and mongo for the chunk of the passing attack.

4) Head to Head Matchups

In the Ultimus finals ex QB Showbiz competed against his well known friend sunnycursed and all-pro wide receiver Maddox and stood his ground. His seven tackles where about five of them came from run support or gang tackling another WR showed his willingness to get physical. By only allowing a few passes and getting one pass deflection this brings out how much work he has put in throughout the season to become competent in his craft. With only having one year of practice and being able to stay step for step with the receivers is an incredible feat. Espeeyeeseetee may have gotten the best of Showbiz on his touchdown catch but has several journeyman tricks up his sleeve. The most impressive part about showbiz’s performance is that he was such a student of the game while he was playing quarterback that he was able to transfer that knowledge to the cornerback position. Teammates are often heard him shouting up what play is coming in a Tony Romo esq way when he became a commentator. Showbiz has a year maybe two left to continue his battle at corner and I am looking forward to the savy techniques he brings to the table next year.

11) Trades

Trade:
Baltimore receives:
Sunnycursed
S18 3 rd Round pick

Otters receive: Yulic Nagasawa Wide Receiver – Season 11 – 500 TPE
Corey Trevor 190 TPE – Season 13 –
S18 1st round pick (3rd overall)
If trevor is on the otter’s roster after S18, Hawks receive 2M in S18 Cap space.

Baltimore tried to beef up their chances of a trip to the Ultimus and they succeeded. Unfortunately, even with this all-star receiver they couldn’t quite break the Otters defense to bring it all home. Sunny and Maddox lead the attack with over a hundred yard each and sunny had a TD so the trade was not for none. However, with poor field position and timely missed 3rd down conversions the hawks drive stalled. Hugh Mongo stepped up “Hugh” in Sunny’s absents and looks to be running with the wide receiver two roll. Next year Sunny is a FA and who knows if he stays or goes back to his long time home in Orange County. This leaves the hawks kind of holding the bag with only a 3rd round pick in this years draft. While that should net them a pretty good player in this deep class; they are missing out on a top three selection which is a guaranteed stud of a player that will be active in the locker room, high TPE ceiling and active in the forum.

19) Kickers are people too!

Kicky Bobby had a average to to successful playoff run up into the NSFC championship game. One play affected the outcome of the NSFC Championship game by missing a twenty two yard field goal that could have tied the game in the fourth quarter. The score was 27 Baltimore to 24 Orange County. This could have changed history and prevented the Otters from upsetting the Hawks and prevented Armstrong from becoming the Playoffs MVP. Bobby was five for five in the range of twenty to twenty nine yards throughout the season. However, his extra point completion rate was one of the lowest in the league. This unreliability reared its head in the fourth quarter of the crucial game. Was it nerves or was it Bobby to nonchalant as he had no problem from this range all season? Only Kicky knows and we will see what he works on this offseason – accuracy or intelligence to help diminish the nightmares that are fresh in his mind. Bobby has 2 years left on his contract for cheap so we will see if the Wraiths still believe in him or go another way in the draft as there are a couple active options available. You never know. Kicky might want out but we won’t know what goes on behind the scenes.
