(S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - sapp2013 - 10-17-2019 The Colorado Yeti's defense is not good. Hold up... Let me re-phrase that. The Colorado Yeti defense is not good... yet. The team is raw and young, and still living off the hype of their time in the DSFL. They got absolutely HUMBLED by the Baltimore Hawks when they put up a fifty pointer on the young core. It will take time before they are ready to deem themselves a top defense in the league, but they have a lot of aspects that young stellar defenses have. Lots of guys working hard, having each others backs, and willing to put their bodies on the line for the team. Over time, guys like Pete Parker, Louisiana Purchase, and Trae Bacon will fit into the scheme that the Yeti General Managers are running. They will learn how to cover the faster, stronger, smarter and overall better players in the NSFL compared to those they played against in the DSFL. For a prediction for this defense through the season, they are going to struggle. They will have their games, but for the most part, offenses will have a field day with them. as the season progresses, teams will need to start taking into account that they will not be a complete push over all the time. They will get dragged to the playoffs by the offense, show effort in their first playoff game, and then show their lack of experience in the conference finals. Next year, teams will need to watch out for the Yeti. We have an incredible line-up now that we couldn't be happier about. Let's start on the D-line, where we are now playing S10 Lo Rax (467 TPE), S16 Blake Faux (510 TPE), S18 Bjorn Ironside (327 TPE) and S15 Johnny Slothface (756 TPE). Rax is one of the only players on our whole team who are older than S15 and who is not active. The other three are going to get much better every season at this rate. Our linebackers currently are S15 Quenton Bode (696 TPE) and S18 Thudd Kassel (301 TPE). Bode is already killing it every season at his TPE and Kassel is already at a great rating even at 300 TPE and improving every season as a rookie. Both will be feared in the future. In our backfield, we find S15 Deon Taylor (646 TPE) and S17 Jordan Andrews (473 TPE) at the cornerback position, while S13 Tyler Swift (604 TPE) and S18 David Rector (267 TPE) are at the safety positions. As you can see our defense is extremely young, which means we will be improving to our TPE totals every season and already set at all eleven positions, with 9 actives and two high TPE inactives. The only player we will have to replace in the next few seasons will be Lo Rax due to regression, the rest is already set. This defense is going to be battling for the best defense in the league spot for several seasons to come at this rate. (S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - Bwestfield - 10-18-2019 Right now the Colorado Yeti have a terrible reputation on defense. They have not looked great in the last few games and their fantasy value is terrible. Luckily for them, that is all about to change. The Yeti defense is very underrated. Right now they look terrible on paper but they have the talent and schemes to turn it around. The defensive line is solid. They are a bit slow, but they are strong and massive. They will push through any offensive lineman and make the quarterback pass fast. The linebackers corps is amazing. Mo Berry is one of the best in the league and has an amazing compliment in Tony Gabagool who is very underrated. The cornerback group is probably where the Yeti are weakest. However, they have a lot of young talent in that position. The Louisiana Purchase can cover a monster portion of the field. Some say it covers multiple states. I wouldn’t throw in his direction. The safeties also see a new face in Pete Parker who seems to defy physics sometimes with how he moves and jumps. There is still a lot of time for this defense to gel. If they aren’t able to pull it all together like I believe they will, next year will be a different story. (S18) - PT1 - Defense wins Championships! - Fordhammer - 10-18-2019 The Philadelphia Liberty defense is definitely on the young end of things. The secondary is anchored by guys like Richard D'Attoria, Brock Weathers, and Julian McMorris. McMorris had a breakout season as the Defensive Rookie of the Year, putting up some monster stats. This group is going to peak in the next few seasons, and should be a huge pain for offenses to throw against. In the middle, linebacker is definitely our weakest position group. The IA Rock Hardshaft and now-retiring Gekyume Stokeley are the only players of note here, and it goes without saying they will need to be replaced sooner rather than later. Look for the Liberty to possibly go after some LB FAs, or maybe replace these two with some upcoming draft prospects. The defensive line is maybe the most promising group for the future of this team. Zach Hall, Mike Franchet, were both huge steals in the S18 draft, and both should be able to give running backs fits for quite some time going forward. All in all, the defense has struggled this season, but with a great draft and hopefully some FA acquisitions, I think the Philly defense will be able to minimize opposing offenses effectiveness against them. As long as they keep focused, they should be just fine. |
