(S1) - Weekend PT #4 - S2 Stars - Anti-Hype - 07-02-2017 When I think of standout S2 prospects the first person who comes to my mind has to me Dermot Lavelle the Six foot tall Corner from Ireland. This man is an absolute work horse you wouldn't even be able to tell that this man was unable to participate in all the camps prior to seasons start. He's got insane amounts of agility his acceleration is off the charts. He knows exactly what angels he needs to take in order to make a play on the ball and it shows in his stats with his three interceptions and thirteen pass deflections. If one gets through he rarely misses in the open field he has everything you want to see in a starting Corner Back plus more. On top of everything i've mentioned he's forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. He was the first player picked up off of the waivers and he was looking to make himself known. He certainly succeeded at that. Its hard to say where Lavelle will end up come the S2 draft. I know for sure the Wraiths want them back on their squad but, there is no doubt he is on a couple of other teams radars. (S1) - Weekend PT #4 - S2 Stars - Valtookan - 07-02-2017 Let me speak about two of our season two free agents that we have had the blessing of acquiring for our Season One run. These two picks have outperformed my expectations and shaped my idea of what a player with less TPE, or a player who had started later can do. The two players I am referring to are the Arizona Outlaws very own, Tim Pest and Blaster Blade. I actually want to talk about both of these guys separately because they fall into different categories for me. Tim Pest: Bruh, the moment we got Tim Pest, I was excited! Myself being a Bengals fan, I know what terrible Center play looks like. Have you ever heard of Russel Bodine? Exactly. Well, he is the starting Center for the Cincinnati Bengals and he is probably bottom 2 or bottom 5 for starting Centers. The dude is not good, and even though he is young he hasn't figured it out. So when our GM: AD, told me we were getting a real Center, not a bot, I was over the moon. Tim did not disappoint, he has racked up 33 total Pancakes over the course of 11 games, some people couldn't even do that with 12. Now, Tim has allowed a great many sacks (12; most in the League) but a recent move to Right Tackle, along with more TPE should help temper this. I was completely onboard with Tim from day one and I will continue to follow his progress and hope for the best for him. Blaster Blade: Blaster, Blaster, Blaster. Dude, I'm just going to come out and be honest. I really wasn't expecting to get out of you as much as you have shown me. I just was always thinking, "Ok welp this kid Blaster, he'll just be decent. He will never be "that guy" like Jayce Tuck is; nah he won't be elite or even get near Sacks. He's an ok LDE but won't ever be elite." Ladies and Gentlemen, Blaster Blade has the same amount of Tackles as Tuck (38) the same amount of TFL as Tuck (14; leads the team), and 5 Sacks to his name. Blaster is a TERRIFIC Left Defensive End. Hell, it was 2 weeks ago when I learned Blade was an S2. The dude has been with us since the second Pre-Season game (at least on the stat sheet). Blaster has completely changed my mentality about players who start a little later. The dude has be critical for us on that left side, he complements Tuck incredibly. He's the reason one of the reasons our defense can do so well in the passing game as well as in the run game. It's really unfair, I really don't wanna lose this guy to the S2 draft. ![]() Well, those are my two S2 men to watch. I hope we can get them back on the ![]() @Blaster @`TimPest` (S1) - Weekend PT #4 - S2 Stars - jparks98 - 07-02-2017 A name that is slipping through the cracks when talking about the season 2 draft is Brokk Lee. Even though he is one of the latest declarations in the second NSFL draft he is already one of the strongest players in the league. A run blocker through and through from Ole Miss, Brokk has one the potential to be one of the best lineman in the league. The second prospect game was the first time we were able to see him, and he did not disappoint. Brokk managed to rack up 3 pancakes and allowed 0 sacks in his debut. The most telling number is his sack allowance. Many critics say that the biggest weakness in his game was his ability to block in passing situations. The performance showed that he is a good enough pass blocker to not be a liability on pass plays right now. Since he is already a good run blocker and has the fundamentals to be a good pass blocker. Brokk Lee has the potential to become the backfield’s best friend. In a league where offensive linemen are at a premium expect Brokk Lee to go early, if not then I promise you he will be the steal of the draft. (S1) - Weekend PT #4 - S2 Stars - ADwyer87 - 07-02-2017 Tim Pest may not be the first player when you think of S2 draftees, but he has been thrown from the frying pan into the fire from day one of his NSFL career, and he has delivered. Despite playing one less game than the rest of S1 offensive linemen, Tim Pest is 11th in pancakes in the league. He came into an Outlaws team struggling with protecting their QB and has turned into a staple on the left side. He has shown resilience and some serious power with his game, and through it all has become one of the most well appreciated players on the team. He has come with some red flags, though. Tim Pest leads the league in sacks allowed with 12. He is the only player with double digit sacks. That being said, he has been a young guy thrust into a major role from the start, and the team runs a very fast pace as well. Another thing is that he has been penalty prone of late. After starting off well, Pest has had a penalty in 4 of the past 5 weeks. He needs to shore that up, but that's another thing that will come with age and experience. The verdict is, Tim Pest should be a lock for a first round pick (S1) - Weekend PT #4 - S2 Stars - Jogn - 07-02-2017 Dermot Lavelle has been a model of consistency for the Wraiths, since joining very shortly after the Season 1 Draft. Without a full Training Camp under his belt Lavelle ranks 3rd among Corners in tackles, 6 behind Baltimore's Antoine Delacour and 2 behind San Jose's Timote Shoate, 5th in Interceptions (1 behind 4 players), and 2nd in pass deflections, trailing only Colorado's Alex Hayden by 3. He has been a significant part of a Yellowknife team that finds itself atop the official NSFL power rankings, and will be a strong part of the Wraiths' postseason hopes. While Lavelle is unlikely to top the draft board - cornerback just isn't a position that is percieved to have enough value to warrant a #1 pick, and expansion teams will likely be better served looking at the Wraiths' Defensive Tackles, assuming that the to-be-announced rules do not allow Yellowknife to protect all of their players along the Defensive Line, a canny manager would be looking to exploit how much the Wraiths are likely going to be willing to part with in order to 'retain' a player who has been such a large and vocal presence in the locker room, as well as a standout on the field. (S1) - Weekend PT #4 - S2 Stars - NUCK - 07-02-2017 Dermot Lavelle has been a blockbuster pick up for us at the Wraiths. After the draft it was clear that we were very light in the defensive back area, which was going to cost us large yardage every game. When we seen Dermot had become waiver eligiable, it was as if we had hit the jack pot. We signed him up as soon as we could and had him on the field faster. Yes we have added many other great players that will be sure to get drafted high in the season 2 draft. But Lavelle has been here longer then most and deserves the recognition he gets. His training is on par with most active season one guys and thats showed game after game as hes been a stud in our back field. He has been heating up more and more as the season progress and opening the eyes of every scout and fan in the football world. It wont be long until Lavelle has his own line of shoes and has his face plastered every where you turn. But this young man will have to wait as we still have to utilize his natural talents a little longer, while we make our run for the cup and have our names etched immortally in it as the first ever winners! (S1) - Weekend PT #4 - S2 Stars - Sanctus - 07-02-2017 ![]() (S1) - Weekend PT #4 - S2 Stars - Bzerkap - 07-02-2017 So, there's a little-known gem of a player residing on the Wraiths current roster. I know what you're all thinking, "Not another Dermot Lavelle post!". Well luckily for you this isn't about Dermot Lavelle and his elite ball skills, his sexy jawline, or his perfectly unkempt mane. No, this is about a man who is quite the opposite, actually, he's just as perfect. He's a young sprout hailing from Penn State, with the football knowledge and quick feet that belie his hulking 6'1" 210 lb frame. He is the one, the only, Fox North!!!!!   They call him the silver fox because he's smooth like George Clooney, with the innate sex appeal to boot. What makes him so dangerous on the field is his ability to utilize his speed and agility to run perfect routes, and the softest hands to corral any errant throw (Not that Chris Orosz makes any of those). He works the middle of the field with ease, juking defenders right out of their shoes, and he's tough enough that he isn't worried about that safety over the middle coming to lay the wood. He'll hang on to the ball in traffic and when he can't get it he makes sure no one can. It really is no coincidence that when he came to our team Orosz all of a sudden stopped throwing interceptions (Definitely ignore his week 10 game. That wasn't him I swear). He's a quarterback's best friend, the perfect safety valve. Don't touch him during the next draft. He's ours! (S1) - Weekend PT #4 - S2 Stars - Aenir - 07-03-2017 A somewhat unheralded S2 Prospect is OL Vincent Sharpei, Already a solid technician out of West Point, Sharpei has increased his physical abilities during his waiver season. Running a solid 30 Pancakes to 5 sacks allowed ratio, many thought that going into this season that the Army Black Knight would be overwhelmed against the seasoned players from bigger schools, however using this as motivation has caused Sharpei to hit the training room and video room just as hard or even harder than many of his offensive line peers. His weaknesses would probably be a lack of top end physicality, that a physical freak could either out run or out power him, and the lack of a top flight opponent throughout his college career. He makes up for this shortcoming by being one of the most cerebral offensive players in the league thus far, all the physical talent in the world wont do much if you cant have the intelligence to back it up. Also noteworthy is his attention to detail in his blocks. He is a technically sound blocker, and wont make a mistake too often. An interesting fact about Sharpei is that throughout his time at West Point (46 games started) he was only called for 6 Penalties total! That's an astonishing .13 Penalties per game... you read that right, not 1.3 but .13! No matter who you are or where you come from, that's some disciplined football! (239 Words) @Muford |
